Dude I guess you don't know who he is. He was one of the all time big Guitarists of the 80"s. Unfortunately all of this Hip-Hop shit and the digital age of music and the end of the Vinyl / CD album era has come to an end which has kicked a lot of great musicians to the curb for dumb ass 3 chord / 1 note bands these days.

Saw him in the mid 80's, Paramount, Seattle, Rising Force, 2nd row, caught a pick, still have it. Brother caught a drumstick. One of the best concerts I've been to, ever. He threw a Strat into the air, once, twice, third time missed catching it, it exploded on impact with the stage...... Amps (as in many) went batshit and a stage hand ran out and switched them all off. Someone else brought a new guitar, while yet another picked up the pieces. Yes, he missed a few beats, he just broke out another Heineken, and started over, pissed but professional. Great show. Yes, he was better before the car accident, but, you play like he can right now, after wrapping a Ferrari around a tree at 90 mph, and re-teach yourself to play again. The guy is a guitar monster. If you don't like it, don't listen. Enough said.

I saw Yngvie play when he was in Steeler in the 80's. I had never heard of him and they were an opening act. I did notice how greedy musically he was, he an awesome guitar player, that over plays his instrument. Even Jimi knew when to breath, and let the band be heard. He's a perfect example of how good you can be solo, but suck in a band setting...he does shred, by himself.

Still a great player, and he's become more approachable with time. There are few guitarists that haven't adopted something from Malmsteen's playing, from pick-attack to ascending scale runs from an open 1st position to fine tuning their vibrato. I count him among my influences and appreciate his talent. Like him or not, his contribution to music is without question.

I worked as part of Rhodes music on Denmark Street at that time and we'd see Satriani, Petrucci and all those guys pop in, it was a great time and all the staff from every store would go for drinks across the road from where he's playing after work each night it was like a community.

It was a nice place to do security considering it's SoCal, but anyways I was working 2pm-10:30pm and I would do 2 hour patrols through on different sides of the buildings. While I was walking I started to hear Yngwie, But it was loud but not like in your face loud. I remember I was hearing Black Star and though, That's awesome one of the employees is jammin to Yngwie as they worked through the night, but the sound was soooo fat! Fifty Years in the Future
A guitarist dies and is quite please to find that he ends up standing before the pearly gates of Guitar Heaven. St. Peter shows him in, and gives him a guided tour.
"This is Stevie Ray's room here..." says Peter, and the guitarist is saying "Wow! Stevie Ray!"
"And this is Jimi's room..." and the guitarist is totally over the moon.
Finally Peter shows the guitarist to his own room. Before Peter leaves, he says to him, "I have to ask. Is Yngwie here?" Peter shakes his head sadly and says "I'm afraid he went... the "other" way..."
The guitarist is disappointed but goes to his room and tries to get some sleep. He is woken up in the middle of the night by someone playing a really fast harmonic minor lick - and it sounds just like Yngwie. He presses his ear to the wall, and listens more closely. Someone in the next room is playing really fast neo-classical shreds through what sounds very much like a vintage Strat. The guitarist is confused as it sounds so much like Yngwie. The next day he tells Peter that he is almost certain that Yngwie's in the next room.
Peter pulls him to one side, and whispers into his ear, "Shhh.... don't tell anyone. That's God. He thinks he's Yngwie Malmsteen"

Nonsense, he has one of the most expressive bends and vibratos in the entire guitarist community, and some incredible song writing skills especially in his first few albums. Yngwie is all around beast. Sure, he's a little sloppy these days but who cares? He will never be forgotten, even in 200 years people will still listen to and be inspired by his virtuosic playing, not unlike Chopin on piano. He is one of the all time guitar greats. For the record, Chopin also had/has his fair share of haters for playing too technically. Funny that!

You guys need a better flag. Please hear me out. Many (if not most) of you really deserve that. I've met a lot of really good people from the south of all races, and my own grandmother was from Georgia. People from the south are just as good generally speaking as from anywhere else in the world (except Mongolia, idk why but Mongolia has easily the happiest most friendly people I have ever met).
But that flag isn't helping anyone anywhere in the world because of what it has always represented. And what it represents has nothing to do with any of the good and sometimes great people I have met from the southern states. The only thing it represents in reality is racism and the desire to *own* black people. So although I don't personally take that much issue with the flag itself (it is just an inanimate object after all like a swastika or the double lighting bolts storm troopers symbol), what it represents goes against freedom and humanity (the supposed main principles of freedom in America) and my grandmother from Georgia would be one of the first people to point that out (were she still alive). Even to her republican husband from New York who would agree.
Even if she wasn't around, because he was a republican for 70+ years, and for most of those years the republicans were the left wing blue states party, but in 1964 when *both* parties overwhelmingly voted *for* civil rights, all the racists in the south (and many in the north because racists exist everywhere) decided they were so mad at the democrats for voting for civil rights that they switched sides (sound familiar?) and that's how the republicans went from the left wing party to the right wing party.
But let's not be fools any of us, neither party gives a rats flying sphincter about you or I. And sadly we lost our chance (purposefully achieved by the gop's refusal to allow the primaries to be postponed), at having a president who actually cares about the people. Because obviously Sanders would have whiped the floor with trump in any and all debates and just made him look way more foolish than he already does. That is exactly why the gop forced them to hold the primaries regardless of the deaths it was going to cause.
But you must know that their is so so much more to the south than just racism and the desire of some to own slaves and keep darker skinned people from having any real success as much as they can stop them. The south deserves to be respected and seen for all the beauty, wisdom, ingenuity, and strength you can find there also. And a good part of all of those things exist because of the south's diversity. It's not just about white people, or even just about white and black people. Brown and red people were there many thousands of years before, and all of you are a still part of what makes the south awesome.
Give your states a chance to recover from jim crow era bullshit by letting go of the bad and embracing the good. All states and countries have had to do this at some point, and some have much farther to go too ofc.
Basically I'm saying, if you want the world to look at you with kindness and respect, or even just simple decency, then you also need to look on the world with kindness and respect. And simple decency is not what that flag represents. There are better flags, and what is nationalism anyway? We're all one species, just with many different cultures, and the southern states culture will always be just as important as any of them, no worries.
Now maybe all that said and you are from Wyoming or somewhere even further north, lols. But hey, I'm not *telling* you what to do, I am only saying what I think is right to say. I would fight for *your freedom to choose* anything that does not directly harm others, even if I disagree and even though that flag does cause some harm to many because of what it factually represents.Witch coupled with my love for many southerners and their food, music and lovely accents, is why I've taken the time to type all of this. It may not help you to change your mind (and that's alright), but perhaps it might even just a little, or perhaps it may help someone else to change their mind. But none of that is up to me, I just put out the best argument I can and let it go.
Regardless, I bet we could see eye to eye on music in many cases. Malmsteen has been an influence of mine since I first heard him as a kid.
I wish you peace and prosperity my fellow Earthling. ^-^
