    Bought this a couple weeks ago and have been carrying it daily since. The action is smooth with a great detent, and everything feels tight and right, solid in the hand. There's absolutely zero button issues with mine. It's almost mushy with the only resistance being the spring under the button, I dont even feel a rub, really nice. Fantastic knife IMO, love it!!

    Kizer where the brand of the year for me in 2023 , the fit and finish and materials you get for the price is unmatched!! Every time it was time to get a new knife ( I get one every 2 months plus an extra for my bday and Xmas 😂 ) I would have something in mind from a diffrent company , yet as soon as I went online and check out the specifications , I ended up buying another kizer ! I bought 5 last year and already have 2 on my list for this year!! ( the momo and drop bear ) being in the UK I obviously don't get the " must buy USA made " but I get it! If you haven't tried Kizer yet , give them a try ! You won't be disappointed 😊

  • @Silentchaosdk
    @Silentchaosdk 5 місяців тому

    Kizer confirmed this is not meant to be ambi. The filler tab and clip if you reverse it (left handed user) doesn't match up. They give you an extra filler tab, but it's another right handed one. Bummed because the asymmetrical fit leaves some material out the butt of the scales. FYI for left handed users out there.

    P,S. MC, I love what you do, but when you do the size comparison could PLEASE roll out at least ONE popular knife in the same price range (or lower) as the knife reviewed? All the ones you compared it to are too expensive for someone who considers the Dogfish. How about the QSP Penguin or Civivi Elementum or Kizer Sheepdog? Thanks :)

    To all lefties. Kizer messed up on the filler tab/clip situation, neither the filler tab or clip are symmetrical, so when reversed, there’s a sharp bit of filler tab sticking out the edge. It was so close to be perfect but now for them to fix it they would have to make lefty tabs and clips.
    Apart from that it’s great but it feels like they implemented an ambidextrous clip without actually reversing it to test it first 🤦‍♂️

    This is my first button lock. I have an issue where when closing it if I let go of the button it will cause the blade to stop falling and this can be annoying when it does it. Is this "button stick?" I assume if so it will hopefully work itself out. Basically is this normal-ish or is this abnormal behavior. Otherwise I think it's a great knife. Thanks!

    Direct from Kizer on the non-symmetrical filler tab and clip and lack of a left handed filler tab and clip:
    “Sorry for the inconvenience and unpleasant experience that our knife has brought to you.
    The knife is designed for right-handed, so there is no left handed clip and filler tab. Sorry for inconvenience.”
    lol so apparently the filler tab really is just a joke to trick us lefties into buying it and it’s actually a right handed knife 😢

  • @techromancerzero2709
    @techromancerzero2709 5 місяців тому

    It has a ton of visual appeal, and it looks like it has tactile appeal as well. But it really bothers me that between the cutout and the narrow part of the jimping on the spine closest to the handle the result is that the blade is in fact weakest where it should be the strongest. It should've been a flipper and the cutout should be removed.

    I honestly appreciate the spine wack test, but it does seem to be hit or miss. Which is why I still tested my MSI.
    Now, there are some models that are prone to failure (I.e. the Bestechman Goodboy), but each knife a person gets and intends to use should (maybe) be tested for knowledge purposes. For example, you know not to use a knife for specific cutting tasks.
    Know the limitations of your tools.
    Now, Neeves says no knife should be tested right out of the box b/c the lock face can wear in making the lockup stronger and less prone to failure over time.
    Either way, there are many variables that go into the solidity of a lock. This is one reason why I carry a backup or a fixed blade.

      @markp4401 5 місяців тому

      How well does a spine wack test for constant pressure against the lock? The most likely situation I can envision in the field for a button lock being stressed is when the knife gets stuck in dense material such as wood. I know I’ve been guilty of trying to rock the blade out thereby stressing the lock even though I knew better. I wonder if securing the blade in a vice and applying steadily increasing pressure against the lock would be a better test. I’m not saying the spine wackers aren’t doing something valid. Just food for thought.

    • @metal_complex

      @@markp4401light taps = good test. Hard slams = bad test

    • @redrebelleader-7495
      @redrebelleader-7495 5 місяців тому

      @@markp4401 in most situations, yes - gradual force is applied to a blade spine and the lock won’t disengage. This is likely the vast majority of what people experience on a regular basis.
      However, there are instances where force can be applied in a similar manner to what a “spine wack test” would simulate.
      Think of this test as “worst case” scenario.
      Basically, knowing the limitations of your tools helps you be better prepared for whatever situation you find yourself in. Hence why I will carry a fixed blade, if I anticipate well what I’m getting into.

      I have a bunch in 200 and up and this is true. The lock that fails the easiest in my experience is liner lock. Started to see a pattern of thinner liner locks fail more often with less effort.
