OMG.. you're cranking out the fabulous recipes faster than I can try them! I happen to have some month-old homemade kimchi in my fridge and I'll be trying this dish this weekend. (Right after I make the brazed cabbage from your last video!) By the way, I really like your new format. You introduce the dish you're about to prepare and explain the ingredients and the process before starting to make it. Well done, and keep these great videos coming!

I tried kimchi years ago and wasn't such a fan; maybe I will have to try it again.
I'm gonna pad my bet though, and be sure and have a peeled- quartered pineapple slathered
with butter and some brown sugar packed over it baked in the oven and have that over some ice cream after, or instead of depending on if my taste has changed.
    Guess I'll see what happens!
    * I hope everyome reading this has a great day today!

I love Kimchi fried rice. Sometimes when I make fried rice right when it is close to done I will put the egg on top of the rice and cover with a lid. Then it is like a steamed egg but looks like yours.

That looks a lot like the kimchi fried rice I make. I like to use the last of the kimchi in the bottom of the jar when I make a new batch. But I do not have the good fortune to have smoked duck available. I will be on the look out at my local Asian markets.

Next time try drizzling some sesame oil right before you serve. It gives you another layer of umami flavor.

Jin Chang I subscribed! Hoping maybe you can help give me some real authentic Korean food. I miss it, I’m now in Texas and don’t get to eat much Korean food or any other type Asian food out here. I’m from Tacoma, Washington and had many Asian friends of different countries that always made good food and would share. Also there are many restaurants to eat at as well. Asian restaurants. I love kimchi and would love how to make it properly if you know how to. Thank you 😊

    You are so awesome!
I really amazed about the way how you cook Korean cuisine.. I am from Korea but I am living in south texas. And i think you really do good job.
P.s. one thing that i want to suggest is to sprinkle sesame seeds and oil in the very end of cooking for savory taste :)

Looks delicious. What brand of store bought kimchi , or how to shop for a kimchi that isn't very garlicky? I bought some a while back, and had to throw it away. My husband has pretty bad reflux, and it wasn't edible for him! Ugghh. Thanks!!
    Love your videos!

    •  5 років тому +2

There is a white summer style kimchi that is non spicy and mild in taste, but most spicy red kimchi is loaded with garlic and spice. I think acid reflux and kimchi are a bad combo. I remember having bad reflux during pregnancy and kimchi made it worse. Sorry about that. 😕

Lol LIVED off kimchi fried rice in college. The ingredients were cheap and the method was quick and easy. Never used duck -- I used Spam, or tofu, or whatever end cuts the deli had on sale -- but it never mattered, because it always turned out AMAZING anyway 👍👍👍

What part of Texas do you live? I’m asking because I live in the Dallas area and was wondering where the Korean store is. I’ll look online too to check but was hoping you’d say.

    • @lesmercredis

Kimchi is a staple Korean salad made of fermented vegetables, most notably cabbage. It's very red, very spicy, and VERY DELICIOUS!
Check out this Tasty video for the basics. ua-cam.com/video/KLSTZrw7a8s/v-deo.html
But I know that there's a video on this channel somewhere for a kimchi recipe, too.

Your kimchee looks good and spicy. All the kimchee around here are so mild. Hardly any flavor.
I love fried rice. We have it about once a week.

Try making your own kimchi. I find it's not that hard and so much better than anything I can get locally. :)
