Always the classic handsome one! .....the XC90's not bad either....LOL. but seriously, the XC90 has really stood the test of time when it comes to styling....timeless, you might say. I'm sure the doggo appreciated the extra room for the trip too! I might actually cancel my EX30 reservation and get a Certified by Volvo preowned XC90 at the end of my current XC40 lease this spring. The current outlook for deliveries in the US for the EX30 are looking very delayed and my living/income situation will be changing a lot in the coming year. Not sure where I'm going to live and if I'll have charging available at all, so an EV might not be the smartest choice for me....or....I could just buy out my lease and and keep my XC40. would probably be the smartest choice. I know the previous owner ( me) and I truly care for any car I own.....plus it will have very low miles for a 3 yr old car....probably less than 10k miles/ 16k km. Or I could go classic and reliable and get another XC70 or maybe a well maintained classic 240! Decisions, decisions, decisions..... Great video as always! That B role of the beach/ocean! Beautiful ♥ ( sorry for the long comment today)

Hi Thom. Thanks for another great video. Glad to hear you like the car and that Volvo continues to make safety its priority. My wife and I were in our 2017 XC90 T8 this summer when a truck hauling 30000 kg of gravel lost control and hit us head on. Miraculously, we were able to walk away and the police were amazed we had survived. This is a very impressive car.

Glad to hear you and your wife got out safely!! That must have been very scary... In the end, this is the reason why I love Volvo so much, protecting that what you really love and care for. Hope you're doing well, stay safe!

Thanks Thom. Can’t say we’re enjoying driving yet, and winter has now arrived here in Canada, but hopefully that will return. It was pretty frightening but the car was calling emergency services before we had even stopped moving and, because we had a phone plugged in to charge, the phone knew we’d been in an accident and also called for help. We’ve been driving Volvos a long time and I’m sure we wouldn’t be here if we’d been in anything else. Really hoping never to put another one to such a test again ;) @@thom-lov

Love the fact that it shows the map on the drivers dashboard, missing that on the Lynk&Co 01 while using CarPlay. Furthermore, would be nice to see some L&C content in the future, Thom. Thanks 👍🏻

L&C is on my radar and will surely come again soon. Stay tuned. Thanks for the support!

Great to know that Volvo will allow the XC90 T8 to survive the advent of the EX90. My 2017 Inscription Pro T8 may seem old specially with its 10.4KWh and 125HP electrical motor is a mere teasing into the Hybrid mode. The Recharge at least has the 18.8Wh and 145HP electric motor and google infotainment but I am content to wait for Volvo to move some of the features from the EX90 to the T8 such as larger Battery and EV motor allowing 70+ miles on EV, rear wheel steering, larger centre screen and creature comfort like releasing/erect 2nd & 3rd row seats with a press of a button, wouldn't that be awesome!!

It's pretty fantastic to see you in a C40 and an XC90 for reference.

@@thom-lov it stands the test of time ever since it was redesigned! I'll always love the C30, but the XC90 is still a stunner.

    Hello Thom,
    My name is Dan.
I am interested in consumption of XC90 with depleted battery, on pure petrol - hybrid.
And how is it driving: power, liniarity (turbo lag), sound insulation etc.
I understood this tester is on air suspension and ride quality was good. But can you tell, from your experience, how is the ride quality on standard steel suspension?
    Thank you.

The system will prevent the battery from depleeting completely, so the car will always have some hybrid and rear wheel power availalable. However, without significant pure electrical driving you should expect 8 to 10l/100km (25mpg) - which is reasonable for a 2.5 ton vehicle with 310hp.
The Volvo-system is primarily set up for safety and comfort, so you won‘t experience many Sportscar vibes. But 455hp/700Nm systempower do indeed feel impressive, don‘t doubt that! And the electrical engine will prevent almost any turbo lag, no worries here. Quick starts on traffic lights are really fun 😅. But you should consider the XC60 instead because it‘s a bit lighter and smaller and therefore more agile than the XC90.
Personally, I do only know the standard suspension on the XC60, which is a bit on the harder/sportier side (as far as that‘s possible with a SUV). But I never felt the need for the air suspension.

Don‘t agree that the car is up to date: no 11kW AC charger and no DC option. That would be a no-go for me. Mercedes does it much better

It‘s just optimized for typical PHEV-usage with occasional charging at home and not neccessarily highspeed charging in public. In that case, you don’t really need more than 5.something kW.
