    BIG THANK YOU!!!! THIS IS WHY I F**K'N LOVE UA-cam!
    No amount of rigging up with the vice or clamps or smashing it out with a hammer even touched it. I put in the oven at 180c and 5 minutes later I heard a bang on my grill, which was the bearing falling out. The new one just dropped straight in while it was warm.

    Good video❤️👍 I always find that the needle bearing get stuck when installing them, I believe oiling the outside helps?

    Hi Matt. Love the vid's. I'm in process of restoring a '76 Elsinore 125 and am having big difficulty getting the one and only blind trans shaft bearing out. I tried this grill method and the two large one's fell right out just like you said. The blind bearing however had the cage and needles fall apart and the outer shell won't budge. Short of buying the entire Tusk kit, do you have any tips? I tried a seal puller on the outer lip and a piece actually broke off so that is a no go. Thanks

    Hey again Matthew. Im in the process of taking my bearings out of my wr450f. Can i put the cases in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes? I have a slide hammer but like the idea of heating it all up better than smashing them out. Thanks

      Yes oven works even better. Problem is that any oil film will smoke and smell up the whole house. Not recommended if you live with your mom or wife...LOL. If you live alone go for it.

    Hey when using the bearing race driver to finish putting in (let say) the main bearing, should I have to worry about the tool’s face hitting the inner race too ? What you think 🤔

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  5 років тому +1

      If the tool face is contacting both outer and inner race, I don't see a problem with that.

    • @charlesdavidson7324
      @charlesdavidson7324 5 років тому

      I want you to take a bearing and put it on the seal driver side of the tool....then press firmly on the outer race ..... do you know what is going to happen ?
      The inner race won’t spin at all.
      But now, press firmly on the inner race..... do you know what’s going to happen ?
      The outer race on the bearing will spin like a gyro.
      That concludes my observations that when the seal driver side of that tool is used as a bearing driver it will first contact the inner race of the bearing way before the outer race. Make sense ?

    • @charlesdavidson7324
      @charlesdavidson7324 5 років тому

      I believe that this is one of the causes that lead the early or premature bearing failure. The crank journal is going into the inner race of the bearing all the way till it bottoms out so; why would you want it hit on both inner & outer race at the same time when it can be avoided at all costs. All you have to do is buy an impact socket the same size as the outer race at your local parts store or machine a tool (if you want to go that route $$) that fits on the outer race only? I don’t just believe everything I see or read i do deep research and fail hands on at times. That’s why I want for you to experiment with this and let’s see your findings. Would really be a lot of help if you did.
      Thanks Matt 🤙🏽💯

      @@charlesdavidson7324 Well in that case a suitable socket and outer race only.

    If I need to bake the cases to get shift drum needle bearing out, will the rest of the bearings hold up to the heat? Or will I have to replace every bearing.

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  6 років тому +1

      The bearings will hold up to the heat if you plan on reusing them.

    Would this heating method work with connecting links that have blind bearings? I recently broke my blind bearing collet (Motion Pro) and damaged my connecting link trying to get the blind bearing out. It was extremely difficult.

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  7 років тому +1

      Is the connecting link aluminum? If so, then yes. However, those particular bearings are a PITA to remove.

      MatthewMCRepair Thanks for the reply and yes its aluminum (05 RM 125). I will give it a try next time...

    • @HTMR

      Cases should be warmed up to 180°F. You could go more however rarely find the need to.

    Pro tip to anyone trying this: Be very careful about your temperature setting. I just turned a case into a Picasso painting using this method. Apparently my "medium" is different than everyone else's "medium". Don't over cook your case and end up like me.

      @HTMR  10 років тому

      JT, that is why I have an IR gun and mention 140-170°F is plenty.
      What kind of grill do you have? Mine will only hit 550-600.
