    The interview was truly heartwarming! The questions you asked and what he shared were PERFECT! Your passion for the show and the characters really shined through! I am one year older than both of you and this was an amazing blessing and a reminder of our youth. It was incredible to hear about the friendship that Eric and Meeno had which added to the magic of Bog & Jeffery! LOVED your gift to Meeno!!!!!! You could tell he was touched! Thank you so much for this!!! Blessings to you and your family!

    I am so honored by what Meeno said about fan passion and fandom. It struck a chord. It's so true. He has such a calm, kind demeanor, a lot of wisdom and I love his passion for the arts. I’m currently AI enhancing my DVD rips that I bought in the late 00s for 5 Dutch Guilders 😂 I loved this show as a kid so much. And was a pity it was only one season. But having rewatched some episodes now, and having been a filmmaker myself, I see sets with water. Location shoots, enormous sets and set pieces, matte paintings. The pyrotechnics the special effects. It was a very production heavy show and probably very expensive too. At least we have 20 gorgeous episodes that 42 years on, despite looking a bit old (that typical panavision 35mm stock) holds up even today.
    His backlot story made me think about one that I had. Locking myself out on the back lot in 15cm of snow wearing only a polo shirt and thin trousers 😂

    Chris, I haven't spoken with you in awhile, Thank You so much for doing this with Meeno. I think that the 12 year old in me has waited 41 years for this interview. No lie. (I was born in 1970 too..same age as Meeno. :) ) It was truly wonderful to hear Meeno in this interview. Meeno is a real humanist.. He's really in touch with the Universe... He would make a wonderful Philosopher! I enjoyed this immensely! It made my day! :) You guys are great! Hope to see you both in another interview of the same again someday.....next time with more questions that old or new fans can think up. It's just great to see what Meeno is up to these days in life as well as his old stories of Jon Erik. Voyagers! was my favorite TV show as a kid...I remember fighting my father for the TV because he wanted to watch 60 Minutes!...and literally the last time that I saw Meeno on TV was on a Remington Steele episode back then where he plays a teenage grifter pickpocket! in an episode..lol.. When they (NBC) cancelled Voyagers! back in 1983, NBC (Channel 4, New York) kept replaying the episode "Sneak Attack" for 4 weeks straight to fill in the timeslot to finish out the '83 Season. It drove me nuts as a kid!!!...and I knew something had gone wrong. True Story! Much Thanks again to Chris and Meeno for both doing this! Regards, Tony K. :) (Formerly from Long Island, New York (First 33 Years), Now in Melbourne, Florida! (Last 20 Years) )....diehard and forever Voyagers! fan. ;)

    Chris, thank you much for putting this interview together and sharing it! I've long admired your creativity and the talent you're continually honing and how you've managed to combine that with your passion for Voyagers! I'm so glad you got to share that with Meeno and impart a blessing to him both from you personally as well as from the broad and enduring community of fans.
    In maybe 2009 or 2010, I unexpectedly ran into Soleil Moon Frye. As I am perhaps not the most socially graceful and aware person, and especially wasn't then, I shouldn't try to talk to anyone from any show I've ever watched, but I rudely interrupted a quiet moment she was having to herself to awkwardly tell her that my mom's nickname for me for a while was Punky, because left to my own devices to dress for school, I'd often end up wearing mismatched socks. Soleil graciously smiled and asked if I enjoyed the show, to which I replied that it was great and that I felt like George Gaynes was my TV dad. And then my mind got whirring and I blurted out, "Oh! And I really loved your brother's show, Voyagers! How is he?" She politely excused herself then with an "If you don't mind..." Of course I realized then how rude I was being, not only intruding on her time in the first place but while doing so focusing on other people besides her. I tried to stammer out an apology but no sound came out, and I walked away to give her back her peace.
    The way my mind works, I overanalyze social situations later to try to learn from them, and unfortunately got the idea in my head I should still try to apologize to her somehow. So I went on Twitter and @'ed her an apology. She didn't reply directly, but a few minutes later tweeted something to the effect of, People should respect others and mind their own business. I don't know for sure if it was in regards to me, but perhaps I inadvertently bothered her enough to provoke that response.
    Why am I sharing this? I think it's to say to Meeno: Hey, I was such a big dorky fan of Voyagers! that I accidentally dissed your sister! Whoops! Not one of my finer maneuvers in life, but remembering it again now for the first time in years I can laugh at my exuberance and appreciate the pure place it came from even if I expressed it the wrong way and to the wrong person. I really appreciated Meeno's message to fans here, that whatever infectious thing pulled you in to Voyagers! as a kid, that was real and came from the genuineness of his own excitement and working with Jon-Erik Hexum and the other great folks on the show. I think that's why even though Voyagers! aired for only a single season, you still find so many people for whom it's a special show unlike any other, and that it continues to find new fans as it's shared with younger generations. Meeno, thank you so much for sharing your memories and thoughts and warm positive spirit with us.

      Thanks so much for sharing your experience with Soleil Moon Frye! I've never seen her show but I'm sure there are a lot of fans that loved her show like you. It's hard to know what to say to celebrities. They've probably heard so many different reactions from fans that they've "heard it all before." And yes, I thought that was great that Meeno said whatever infectious thing you took from Voyagers! was real and came across from the excitement Meeno and Jon-Erik Hexum had working on the show. It made the show great.

      Yes for sure, I can't understand either when you see what shows were out at the time that lasted multiple seasons. Shows that couldn't ever match Voyagers! Even up to today nothing compares... Chris, Yeah, The Remington Steele episode is a memorable one, mostly for Meeno's performance and his interaction with Pierce Brosnan (a.k.a. Remington), It was definately one of the most memorable shows of the entire Remington Steele series for sure. It's also hard to believe that Meeno was only 14 1/2 when it was filmed. He was definately going through a major growth spurt even at the end of Voyagers!... In the Remington Steele episode which was filmed in '84, He's already much, much taller and he already looks like he's 16 or 17 which he was not at the time...He was only 14 1/2!....Tony K. :)

    That Omni looks awesome. Looks like it will become the new Flat Stanley!
    Meeno seems like a truly awesome guy. I love hearing about child stars that grow up to actual happy endings. I just wish it were the rule and not the exception.
    Voyagers was such a fun show to watch. My favorite "red light" moment was in the one about the space race, where Phineas and Jeff show up at a "FILLING STATION and (in much smaller letters) aerospace museum."

    • @canscify
      @canscify  8 місяців тому

      Nice, glad you liked the Omni! He sure seemed like a great guy and the fact that he was a child star that went right was amazing. Interesting that he said acting was something he wanted to do, as opposed to his mother pushing him into it, etc. which may have caused problems. I like your favorite "red light" moment. The one that comes to mind for me is one of the unaired scripts where Bogg and Jeff fell and caught on to the edge of a building, and Jeff asked where they were and Bogg said "you want me to check the Omni now?" which would have been great to see but was still great to read!

There is Time Tunnel which is another great time travel show too (Timeless was good but very dark) and not as good in my opinion. Because they had a "Voyagers Headquarters/ Control Room" in Time Tunnel that they always utilized, which was a downfall of the show in my opinion. And they didn't have any cool time travel device like an Omni. And of course they didn't have Bogg and Jeff!

    • @DoloresLehmann

Haven't watched it yet, but of course, the Salem episode caught my attention, and how surprised I was to meet Abiah again. If this wasn't a direct copy/reference, I don't know what could be.
      To me, this was kind of THE episode. I was rather surprised that you and Meeno didn't mention it in the interview.
      But all in all, no other time travel show accomplished what Voyagers did. It was just the amazing chemistry between the two.

    • @canscify
      @canscify  8 місяців тому

      @@DoloresLehmann Agreed about the chemistry between Jeff and Bogg, it really helped make the show great. I know what you're saying about Time Tunnel. To me, though, that's the closest show to Voyagers! that I've seen. But there are differences like an episode set in the future which wasn't very good. And they always travelled at random like with the Omni on automatic mode, but they had no control over their time destinations. I like how on Voyagers! they would always find something wrong then be able to go back and fix it. That's not in any other show I've seen. Time Tunnel is definitely not as good in my opinion but they go to a lot of times like ancient Troy etc. that would have made really good Voyagers! episodes. Interesting about the Salem episode in Timeless and the parallels to Voyagers!, I didn't think of that at the time. I know the producer of Timeless cited Voyagers! as inspiration to create Timeless which was great to hear.
