Uber driver here... Today I tried my very best to talk a young man out of giving up. I will never see this guy again but he will definitely be in my heart forever. Total stranger yet I knew him. I've been there. Hope he overcomes.
This whole album literally saved my life. I’d listen to it every time I had chemo, starting in July 2001. In November of that year, I was in the isolation ward, terribly sick, with a white blood cell count of about 200. I listened to this over and over that day, this was just a moment that would be over at some point. That February I was done, cancer free ever since, if not healthy. It also helped me get through an horrific divorce 2 years ago. Thanks, guys. 💚🍀🙌🏼🙏🏻

It's incredible the way that Bono express his pain for his friend Michael through this hopeful and tender song. He seems to say: stand up and go on, cause every time you fall I'll be there to help you!
U2 are one of those bands that people say they hate just because it’s the thing to say, not that they’ve ever listened to them. Easily one of the best bands of the last 40 years.
MrFluidity1 You’re right. I’m 18 and whenever I mention U2 to any of my friends they just say “the shit band who gave me their terrible album for free”
The ego thing got wearing. I have phases forgetting them, then go back & play my favourites; from Surrender, Refugee, Pride, Luminous Times, Walk to the Water, Elvis & America, MLK, thru' to this track; I realise how they've enhanced my life.. till they do something poncey again 😂
I remember everything... how this song saved my life. I was in mental hospital, really tough times for me and my family. I was ruined, my life too. I was at the bottom. I remember those pills, always pills. I was so alone and young. I will never thank enough U2 for this gift. This song was a gift to me. This song is a part of my life. U2 is a part of my life. I just know now that I have lived every line, every word, every rhythm of this album. LOVE U2.
My son is going through a rough time….i keep telling him you are just stuck in a moment and sent him this video. The moment will pass thanks U2 for having such deep meaningful words that are still resounding today!
If anyone out there is going through the worse time in their life...play this and take in the lyrics..especially the last verse. It gets me through the crap times, everytime.
The song is about Michael Hutchence, a friend of Bono’s who killed himself. The message in this video it’s pretty heavy! I didn’t get it back then when I was 9 years old but I get it now. Someone who’s falling and the people who care about him just can’t get to him, and when they do, it’s too late. Not their best album, but definitely my favorite! Long live U2! ps.: sorry for my crappy english 🇧🇷
Yeah - but there are elements of that song that he definitely wrote before Michael Hutchence's passing (google him Gen Z'ers - INXS - total legend). Unremarkable observation, but the lyrics make more sense when you realize that. He was always getting stuck in moments he couldn't get out of. That was his thing.
I am here for in Memory of Michael Hutchence for whom Bono written this Touching Song after that Kevin Godley's Mesmerizing Video. Michael You will be always Alive in our ❤️
I'm 45 right now. And u2 has blessed me for this song. 🙏 I love it and thank you so much U2. Whoever is listening to u2 right now, man, you're so cool. Hope everyone has a safe, happy, and healthy life.
A very special song for me. This song help me in one of the most difficult moments of my life. This video is remastered, finally. Thanks U2. Michael hutchence would be proud.
✌️❤️ I fall back on this song when I'm falling down and it helps to props me up.. video is especially touching because the part where the people are walking over him feel so much like my life. Can't tell you what it means to me to find this comment in here to know that I'm not alone in the feeling
I heard Bono say once in an interview - we're still just trying to write the perfect song.. - stand down man, you got there with this one. "I'm just trying to find, a decent melody, a song that I can sing, In my own company"
I just learned this was written for Michael Hutchence, a good friend of Bono’s. Written partly before and partly after his death. Knowing that now gives this song even more depth and meaning for me. Of course it’s a spectacularly beautiful song, both hopeful and melancholy, but now I’ll hear it with a new awareness of how personal it was/is for him, and also for those across the world who love Michael.
I needed to listen to this today. I am definitely stuck right now. If anyone sees this comment please know that you are amazing, even when people try to make you feel like you are not welcome in this world.

If you were ever in a toxic relationship, as I was when this album came out, this song means everything. It truly spoke to me and helped me to see it was time to move on. For that, it'll always be towards the top of my favorites by one of my favorite bands ever.
Never been a massive fan of U2. I loved a lot of songs from them since their beginnings, but never a fanatic. But this song is simply beautiful. While written for Michael, I think is one of those songs that could save anyone from depression. I actually listen to it in many times of depression. When Bono and Edge get inspired they really know how to write tunes that reach the heart. The last minute of this song is simply a beautiful uplifiting thing. "It's just a moment, this time will pass".
Damn. I lost my mom to suicide in 2002. She played this song on repeat while she drove around with me in the passenger seat.. I am glad she had something to listen to while she worried about me. I used to think that she was playing the song for me, because I was kind of paranoid.. I was also in my moment. Looking back, I understand better now.. I never thought I would, but she always told me.. Chris.. you won't understand until you're an adult or a parent. I'm still neither, but I get it.. Thanks for the new video? Thanks for giving her song
Sorry to hear your story, my mom also had this album basically on repeat around 2001 ish. I remember even being very young at the time, her life was practically falling apart and I'm surprised she held on. For the past twenty years she's struggled with severe mental health and its only recently that she's been sorting herself out. She was diagnosed with cancer this year, luckily it was stage one and she is finishing up chemo that she almost didn't even need. I feel blessed. I have a feeling my story could've been much similar to yours though, this album was constantly on back then and she was in obvious self destruct mode, so much so that I'm not even sure if she should've had custody of me. Anyways prayers to you and your mom's spirit, I am sure she is with you when you listen to this.
Nobody would be able to understand how much this song has helped me and encouraged me when this song came out. It spoked to me at a time when I felt that I didn’t have any way out. This song’s a gift.
The lyrics are hitting differently bc I can't take it anymore... depression sucks, this is really saving me rn. I hope and pray everyone stays safe, happy and healthy.
Hey mate! I don't know how you feel rn and I just wanted to check on you. I really hope you're getting better and if not don't hesitate to contact me. Love on you ❤️
This is the song that stuck with me during the lowest point in my life 7 yrs ago. It kept me grounded and I survived. I am forever grateful to U2. I choke up everytime I hear this song. Thank you.
This song needs to be re-released! It’s got to be one of the very best and it hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves! It hits me hard every time I hear it. Still.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve listened to this song along this lifelong battle with mental illness. It was with my on many lonely bus rides home, many, many moments. Usually on repeat. Extra special to me because I struggled with Michael Hutchence’s death for quite some time. I knew the story behind the song even before it was released. This helped me cope with that and so many more stuck moments. It popped into my head tonight, feeling deeply stuck once again. It may have been written with a particular person in mind but I believe he put it out into the world to bring hope to the rest of us. Reading the comments here brings me so much joy. I’m glad you’re still here ❤️🩹
Another brilliant heartfelt lyrics, beautiful music and stunning performance of U2.... I have always loved them and in times like this they seem more Important than ever. Animal attraction, sensual and exceptional artist will always be Bono, since the first moment I saw him.
I love to see how they have curated each and every picture frame, the sound is enhanced, and all the feelings in my heart are the same I felt 20 years ago when I heard this masterpiece for the very first time.
Did anyone else notice most of the time Bono is being filmed on a metal asphalt-looking structure? Took me to watch 100 times to see and now I cannot unsee it xD
Saw U2 in 97 during the Pop Mart tour and Michael had passed the night prior so it was an emotional show. But the beautiful part was as the lights went up and we were all walking out, the venue speakers started playing Never Tear Us Apart. Miss you Michael Hutchence.
This song is so fucking underrated.
This song saved my life one night. I was ready to leave this world. Thank you, U2 for the incredible tunes.
I'm so glad you didn't, life is beautiful! I felt the same after I lost my partner after 30 years, this song saved my life too!

The Edge's guitar in the pre-chorus is so genuinely beautiful. The art of less is more.
This album was there with me when i was having a terrible time. Thank you, U2.
That last verse is so powerful
it´s just a moment, this time will pass
The lyrics are hitting differently bc I can't take it anymore... depression sucks, this is really saving me rn.

This is the song that stuck with me during the lowest point in my life 7 yrs ago. It kept me grounded and I survived. I am forever grateful to U2. I choke up everytime I hear this song. Thank you.
This is just everything. Everything we are, everything we need to become.
This song is a good companion in difficult moments. I want to thank U2 for being so good at music.
This song needs to be re-released! It’s got to be one of the very best and it hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves! It hits me hard every time I hear it. Still.
R.I.P. Michael Hutchence 🥀 Forever missed and loved.
Yes. This Music was wrotten to him
Wow, The Quality is Awesome, U2 Always be the best band on earth!
I'm not the biggest U2 fan , although I respect them a lot. But I absolutely love this song, one of my all time favorite songs.
same
It’s definitely a superb song.
This song played on radio when i was working on last day with council!..........makes that day simply unforgettable in a nice way!.........
This could come out today and still be just as relevant.
It would be overshadowed by Cardi B. and Co.
I’m glad you’re still here ❤️🩹
I know what you mean!
Another brilliant heartfelt lyrics, beautiful music and stunning performance of U2.... I have always loved them and in times like this they seem more Important than ever. Animal attraction, sensual and exceptional artist will always be Bono, since the first moment I saw him.
This song is a song for anyone in any kind of trouble. It’s made me look at myself and change. It’s never to late to change.
My dad played this song for me when I was deep in my heroin addiction…. I’m now out of it 🙏 this song will forever have a place in my heart ❤️
Sweet sweet melody ❤❤❤❤❤
Timeless 90s and early 2000s
Love you U2... Always in my heart. Big hug to all four from Argentina!!!

My favorite U2 song!
This video clip is all my childhood on TV in France. It feels good to find it in good quality
I love U2. I love you too!
I love to see how they have curated each and every picture frame, the sound is enhanced, and all the feelings in my heart are the same I felt 20 years ago when I heard this masterpiece for the very first time.
This song gave me the strength to claw my way out of an abusive marriage 🙏🙏💪💪❤️🔥❤️🔥🎶🎶
You’re wonderful. Well done ❤
Keep strong sweetheart! 🖤

Did anyone else notice most of the time Bono is being filmed on a metal asphalt-looking structure? Took me to watch 100 times to see and now I cannot unsee it xD
That metal asphalt looking structure is just Coca Cola being flooded on the road to achieve the metallic effect
Rest in Peace Michael Hutchence (January 22, 1960 - November 22, 1997) 🙏🏻
💙🙏🤍
Love INXS' " Never gonna Tear us Apart "!❤❤😊
Michael Hutchence is a legend 🙏❤️🙏
I love how The Edge plays song second voice. Just great as he does in Starring at The Sun
Man,what a great song Staring at the sun is
Listen to the songs Seconds and The Fly. He took the co-lead vocals and I thought it was just Bono. lol
That's The Edge on the high melody at the bridge. Bono doubles an octave below!
He has a good voice.
The Edge is an underrated singer. I want him sing more. He had an amazing voice too.
Saw U2 in 97 during the Pop Mart tour and Michael had passed the night prior so it was an emotional show. But the beautiful part was as the lights went up and we were all walking out, the venue speakers started playing Never Tear Us Apart. Miss you Michael Hutchence.
U2 are full of wisdom and their lyrics reflect this fact❤
This song has kept me alive over and over again throughout the past few years, which have been very dark.
U2 have so many great songs with some of them incredibly up lifting.
❤
It shall pass….. it’s just a moment
I used to play this song when i have problems or bad situations, is amazing how it changes my feelings and motivates me to keep going in my life!!
God I needed this song yesterday and it just popped in my head at the right moment . Its just a moment , this time will pass❤
🙏🙏
I’m 15 and I absolutely love U2, I wish they could keep making music forever!
U2 gets so much hate that their legacy was overlooked. One of the best bands ever.
