- The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is still, one of the most polarizing cameras out there. DJI has updated the Osmo Pocket 3 several times during launch, and with these few additions, the Osmo Pocket 3 could be the perfect little camera!

I would really like control over the focus transition speed, but even more I would like the ability to focus on whats closest to screen, even if its in the corner. right now it practically has to be dead center or it wont focus on it.
Try Single Focus Option, instead Continuous. Should work as long as you keep the subject distance.
@@roman.keller Yah, but that defeats the purpose of having a camera on a gimbal to me. I want to move the camera as I want, and have the camera focus on whatever is closest to camera. Its a great system, but with a few tweaks it could go from vlogging to prevising cinematic shots in such an amazing form factor.
@@dougfranckwolf Yeah, that's right. The little device gets most things right. Especially on the video quality and low light performance. Switching to a tracking box that follows the subject, and holds the gimbal position in place, could be realised with (the strangely missing mode) gimbal lock mode. Same as with bigger cameras. I'd like to buy the Pocket 3 but I also think it's pretty fragile with the rotating screen mechanism.
That’s the first thing I thought, why’s he holding the mic? LOL….😂
Looks so good, makes you realize iPhone and pocket 3 is all 99% of viewers of these videos need. Mirrorless bodies are overkill for the quality difference for most watching. If you’re not paid for it -
It’s all good till you are in a low light situation. Those tiny sensors images fall apart.
@ags911 the pocket 3 is crazy good in low light. Is it a full frame? No. It for sure punches above its weight tho
I'm an absolute newbie creator, and I am 100% with you on the tracking sensitivity, it can be quite distracting. Just subscribed, now time to check out your other Pocket 3 videos.😀
These are all great suggestions,Terry! Hopefully they see this and consider!
ISO issue is huge, whats even more frustrating is when its in auto iso it has the capability to use iso 320 or 640 ect.... that to me is the number one thing they need to fix!! #2 just make it so the gimbal and camera turn vertical like the cameras on the mini drone, and then 4K vertical is no problem... You videos are always killer man!!! great work as always!
DJI you need to listen to this man he’s a genius
100% agree about the tracking sensitivity. I’d also like to see a focus lock option as it often refocuses on the background if I turn my head away for a moment.
Your point about the gimbal lock is spot on. It could be used in many filming scenarios
we need a gym footage and luts for indoors like the gym to show them strations. Feel me?
I do agree with what you said, it is a great camera, but certain things are annoying to get from the menu and having to leave to get to the menu.
Glad I came across your video! All of your suggestions are solid. The pocket 2 caught my attention few years back and I was excited to see the third model release. I'm planning on getting a pocket 3 for when I go on holiday to Japan next spring. I think it will be enough to capture my travels and memories. Love your energy man, subbed!
I agree with you. Hauling around even a Sony mirrorless camera through Europe was sort of a pain. This was a little over a year ago and I sure wish I would have had my OP3. You’ll love it and it’s small for factor
The 24p is welcome in your new videos 😍 hate seeing 30p
Hey tee, do you have a work around for the pocket 3 footage in davinci resolve 18 having artifacts while editing? Is there a way we can convert the 10bit h265 footage to something else so we can edit on davinci
Thank you Terry. Great suggestions. Let's hope DJI are listening.
Even with the faults of the P3 it is just a fantastic camera. Even just using everything in auto and normal color profile it is still good enough for youtube or any other social media. Be honest i use normal color profile and just drop the Saturation a bit, and it looks great. Saves me time and effort in post. I have been testing the freewell vnd mist edition filters and actually like them. They seem to have a slight color shift but nothing that makes the video unusable. New sub!
Great video I agree with everything. One other thing I would love would be that it auto-exposures on the face in D-Log. It has it in standard-color (but I do not like those colors). I really want this as I want to be able to hand the Pocket 3 it to people who does not nessesarily know how to use a camera, and know, that it exposes the face correctly.
Keep up the great work
I've been contemplating buying myself the osmo pocket 3 over the iPhone 13 for the longest now... It's safe to say this video has sealed it for me. I just don't want to make to make a financial mistake because this camera costs alot in South Africa so it's a go big or go home decision.
I'll definitely take my videography to a whole different level with this.
It’s my most enjoyable camera to use for fun stuff. Also, people are genuinely curious about the camera when I’m running around with it. 😂😂😂
Such a good camera. Use it all the time. Also a massive game changer to complement my other cameras when doing events and customer gigs.
“Am I making you mad by holding this microphone…DEAL WITH IT” 🤣
I'm a novice and the Pocket 3 has been amazing for me. I just want to point and shoot. Granted, even I've seen some issues. On a hike several times I looked down at the screen while trying to watch my footing and the gimble was capturing a lot of the sky. Not a big deal because I dont make money from it and Im not a pro. But if I were, I could see why. I agree, it's not a bash. I see your feedback as more trying to take a fantastic product to as close as perfection as possible.
Admit some of these updates would be nice. OP3 is already fire for what it is and is now a primary, but a couple updates you mentioned would be 💪🏼👍🏼
the first request seemed not critical (at least to me), but i gotta say all else after that is like u were reading my mind. 💯💯💯
On particularly rough rides terrain wise with a lot of bumping around, the gimble seems to get kind of upset and stops functioning well. It might even be throwing errors on screen, but Im too busy watching where Im going to see the error or diagnose the P3 issues at that moment. Does anyone have recommendations on how to run it so if Im on a bumpy, twisty ride to keep the gimble from freaking out and how much would that impact stabilization?
Thanks for you input on the pocket 3. You think it's worth it to get the combo creator instead of the standard pocket 3
Great suggestions Terry!
Solid feedback. The sensitivity for the tracking would be cool.
Really great points!! Let’s hope DJI is listening.
Yes, gimbal lock is very much needed. On the Pocket 2 it is easy to lock the gimbal pointing at a scene and then, as you hold the camera, you can walk around it (anti clockwise) into the picture to talk. (I even made a short video to demonstrate that way back). You can do it with the P3 but your thumb will feel like it is going to fall off your hand before the shot is done due to the need to hold the button down without moving the joystick sideways.
Hey Terry, greets from germany 🙂 Great video again. For your Slowmo and Lowlight issue there is a simple workaround, just turn the wohle OP3 by 90°. This way it is at least 4K and has the backed in orientation. Works also for video to have them vertical 4K 🙂.
Can it do 360° or sphere panorama photos?
no it can't
@@vince-n dang :(
You actually can film 4k vertical , however to do this you have to slowly rotate the camera to the side , it will record vertically. Thanks for the video
Yeah but that’s a bandaid solution vs them just fixing it
@@TerryWarfield I agree with that
Man i have to ask you this, where is this t-shirt from? It fits perfectly 😅
You make great vids
Ok serious question, how do you acquire such a crisp signal to noise ratio with the dji mic? My mic literally picks up everything...kids in the background crying, cars passing by etc....any tip to share? Great video btw
When you turn on your mic. Click on the power button again and the light will turn from blue to green. This means it's in the noise reduction setting. 😉
DJI needs to add ONE Second Delay in photo mode of OP3 to make it perfect.
Great ideas for improvement!
Fixing is for something that is broken. It could definitely use some improvements. It’s an amazing device but it’s definitely not broken.
Gotta get the click. Stop hating! Lmao jk
Terry, you are so right about the tracking. Tracking needs more hysteresis as you say. Great points about the extra menus. You can hold the P3 on the side and the gimbal will move vertical and allow you to shoot 4K vertical. The gimbal lock is not instant too. When you press the button there is a short delay until it locks.
Audio backup is not available in low-light mode. Why? What does one have to do with the other?
Thanks for the video! Thankful for my life!
Low light mode isn't just a change in settings. It loads the processor heavily doing AI kind of stuff and that limits what else the camera can do at the same time. I know quite a few feature requests have met with the response that introducing them would exceed the CPU capacity and cause overheating rapidly.
@Ozpeter it’s literally boosted ISO and increased noise reduction. It’s not magic
Would be nice to have 3 cameras in the osmo camera like on last mavic drones. 24mm 70mm 140mm (FF analog) all same aperture and same color profile. let's say f/2 would be enough. I wouldn't care if final size/weight would be 2 or 3 times bigger.
Great ideas man 👍
I just want to add one mire thing which for me personally is quite important:
The Pocket 2 filter detection ❗
WhyTF Dji removed that option, why ❔❔❔🤦♂️🤷♂️
Now I must to attach and detach all the time different filters pushing every single time these tyne gimbal rotors.
It's my opinion of course, but dji really needs to fix that issue.
Can we also please get an exposure lock on the device!
I believe the Osmo pocket series cameras are great tools for what they are and do, they are not a Sony A71V or Sony ZV1MK2, that being said,, maybe Osmo will make a DSLR type camera that has the physical space to include all the bells and whistles that it seems to be lacking..........
Hey Terry great video. This is my main gripe, and maybe you can help to steer me toward a video or training documentation that helps with this - As an Android user, I'd love to see DJI provide the Mimo application in the Google Play Store. It is way too hard to download install as a third party application on Android. Also - I can't connect easily from Android to any of my DJI products using bluetooth alone. I have to use wifi and connect to the Osmo network directly. A big pain that slows down editing and product updates! Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it is definitely annoying.
To the point 👏👏👏
They need to also explain their updates and modes better. For example, I saw nothing that indicated the FPV modes ignore the gimbal speeds and set them to fast. I ended up almost ruining a room tour of my cruise suite because the gimbal jerked around too quickly. Yes, maybe I should have used another gimbal mode but it would have been fine in FPV had it chosen the default speed I set it to.
I don't like the screen design on the '3' -- The rotating screen is failure prone.
I agree with everything he said.
totally agree with you
The mic is so distracting.product 💵shot😂😂❤Thank You
It still won't replace my GoPro camera.
personally holding the mic or even having it clipped and visible in youtube videos isn't even a problem I don't see why people might get annoyed by it lol 🤷🏻♂
Love the pocket 3 but man it drives me mad! Only because I never read the manual or worked out how to use it!
Even despite the is, I want one ahah
And you should absolutely still buy one
Sheesh I still want one tho
As you should
IT MIGHT BE THE CMOS SENSOR CANT ROTATE?
It rotates the entire unit when you power the camera off
I want low light mode's on the Action 4
Terry, thanks mammothly much for your LUT love! Those of us that are LOG challenged (spastic editors) appreciate it much! God bless. 🫡🙏🏽
Pocket 4 will grant your wishes.. get your bag ready 🎉
for real!!! The tracking is obscene!!!
Hey Gangster Mode Terry, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance logo designer, currently I'm looking for more works, do you love to have a logo redesign for your channel's branding to have a memorable graphic based monogram logo to help your audience recognise and follow your channel easier? I would love to design a photography themed logo inspired by your direction for you! Let me know if you interested to make it happen! :-)
Actually it can shoot slomo portrait mode you turn the camera not the screen
We don’t want to have to use a work around is the point
You Can Link Your Phone To The Osmo Pocket 3 To Get Almost All Of Your Complaints Fixed.
Not really.
@TerryWarfield Um... not to mention that you can film sideways to get 4k in Vertical, Slo-Mo, Low Light.... Seriously, Terry, with a bit of research, you'll find that a great deal of these things are addressed in the app while using your phone. In my experience, things like "exposure control" , white balance, lut preview checks, Histogram, ISO, etc, are things you set prior to filming and leave at a determined value. If you want them to constantly change, you may as well use AUTO. The point of manual control is to set these values up at a stagnant rate so they don't change over minor differences. "Power Users" shouldn't mind connecting their phones to initially adjust their camera settings. Isn't one of the main complaints screen size and lack of screen real estate? Using a phone or tablet fixes that as well. I hate to ASSume but I'm guessing you use your phone to control the camera while filming rollers...right?
@@londenard the point is we dont want to have to use work arounds when these are simple fixes DJI can implement
