Buddy literally just we r on your channel after reading the comment.. amazing stuff! Kindly let me know what did you use the actions for and what did you use the pockets for ?
When it comes to face tracking and framing, you can actually choose where you want to be tracked in the frame by simply moving the joy stick after you have selected your face until you are in the position you want. Then it will keep you there just like the dynamic framing mode.
True. It’s much easier and faster than the dynamic framing as you don’t have to enter another menu. I never use the dynamic framing, I just compose my shot with the joystick 👍🏼
The problem with widen wide-angle lens is that during the winter time, the wide-angle lens gets foggy. I have to wipe the fog many times to get the clear footage. Also, the wide-angle is only slightly wider than the original lens which I find not worth the hassle.
Hi David, love your content. Like you I took a punt and purchased the Pocket 3 not long after it came out and I now find I am using it for almost every video I shoot, professionally or for family use. Also like you I was a little worried at first about how fragile it looked but also like you I have knocked, dropped and otherwise abused this camera and it has come through with flying colours. I hate it when people over use the term game changer but in this case I truly believe this little camera system is a Game Changer. Keep up the good work.
You're absolutely right about the durability! That was probably the most surprising part of this camera because it looks fragile, but takes the abuse pretty easily. Except the wide angle lens, that thing is not so durable🤣
Thank you David, I have been a Pro Photographer for 48 years and have just picked up the Pocket 3. Totally geeked out the tools to use with it. I will have my first event in about a month and I'll let you and your viewer know my thoughts. Blessings
The 2 things stopping me from getting one are 1. Want a wider field of view standard, and 2. The filters should be able to stay on when turned off and stored so you don't have to keep taking them off and putting them back on.
I'm not sure where that rumor came from, but you don't have to take the filters off to store the gimbal. They fold up and are completely protected when you put the gimbal in the case
Ive used OP3 to shoot a few nightclub party videos and it has worked out great, I was worried about the durability because of the occasional bumps in the club, but this camera has been a champ so far, the camera is almost as good as my full frame in low light scenes...my only hiccup so far is me loosing the widescreen lens in a club, will be ordering another one soon.
Ive had mine a couple of months now and really love it. I don't think the wide angle lense is too good as I don't think it brings much more wide angle, plus I like the default angle the DJI brings. One thing I wish it did, is screen record, like the drones do. It would help when teaching settings. Otherwise, awesome camera. Thanks
You can EV compensate! download the latest firmware version for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. If you are currently using the latest version, during recording, you can slide from right to left to adjust the EV value on the left of the screen (use it as a vertical slider). -0.3 to -0.7 looks best .
I’ve been really surprised how durable this thing is! I use it as an action camera while running in the mountains. Love it! I did a full review of it on my channel from the point of view of using it as an action camera.
I'll add a con. Remembering your tracking preference! I love my Pocket 3 but i hate that i have to go to the modes and go over one to select Dynamic. I wish it would just remember what it was last time so I could just turn on and go. But its a great camera and has almost replaced my bigger setups for quick videos!
I picked up the ace pro instead but I’m finding I want the pocket 3 for vlogging due to the auto focus and close focus. The creator combo is also mostly on back order so I’ll have to wait until it comes back in stock.
I just got the Creator combo, but found the camera not very good for IRL streaming. It has some sort of a stutter when connected in webcam mode. Aside from that issue, I really like the camera, especially the amazing night footage it can take.
Great video.. I love my pocket 3 and i definitely have to agree with you there needs to be a spin dial for the EV setting.. It ia not easy adjusting that. Hope they fix this for the next version..
It's pretty hard to go wrong with this thing. The footage coming out of it is pretty much ready to go out of camera. Especially when you get the sharpness dialed in how you like
Excellent review. Honestly, I wish I picked up the Pocket 3 before getting the ZV-1. While the ZV-1 may have some features the OP3 doesn't have, the features the OP3 does have outweighs the benefits of the ZV-1. Especially the 10-bit DLOG feature. I'm a filmmaker and I can see the OP3 being great for location scouting. Thanks for sharing.
Swipe down to get into the settings and go to Tilt Locked under the gimbal mode. That will keep the horizon level so that as you move around the gimbal doesn't look up or down. To then move the view up and down, you can use the joystick, but then it's locked in place again. It's what most larger gimbal operators use to get the best footage
@@DavidManningvlog how did I miss this?! I honestly looked and didn’t see it. You just fixed one of my biggest gripes. Thanks! Seriously wish I knew this before our last trip to Ocean Shore this last weekend. You do have to think a little more on your movements with this vs my GoPro that was my goto vlogging camera
I picked mine up as a Creator Combo on launch day. Love it so far. Like you, I wish we could set the Face Tracking to a different area as default other than center of the screen. But other than that, I love this camera.
I agree it's a great camera for image quality but it has some annoying problems. 1. When you turn it on the mic connection message stays on screen for way too long. 2. The mic now turns off after a short time of inactivity - this should be the operator's choice as to how long. 3. The long press delete last file has lost me some good shots . Again this feature should be turned on and off by the user. Basically the latest update has ruined the usability for me
Your dynamic framing tip: You can achieve the exact same thing, even better, by touching the screen (activating active track) where the subject is (or Selfie-Track) and THEN using the joystick to position the frame. That way, you can frame more precisely (with dynamic framing you only have the fixed points) and it's quicker compared to dynamic framing. The subject will stay in the place of the frame after using the joystick. I never understood the dynamic framing feature since you can achieve the same thing much quick.. :)
Would you recommend me getting the creator combo, or the entry level? I ask this because I already have a DJI Wireless Mic 1, so I wonder if I can just plug in that mic on the USB-C port that is on the side of the handle or the extra battery and use a mini tripod at the same time with no issues?
I bought a refurbished Pocket Pro3 off Amazon... I thought I could save a little money, as I already owned the DJI Mic 1. Long story short, the MicroMemory card slot was not recognizing any of the cards I purchased. I called DJI, and they recommended specific brands of cards, which ended up wasting a lot of time. After a week of experimentation, I up returning and reordereing the Studio Version. DJI can fulfill direct orders faster. And, Best Buy did not have the combo in stock. Also, the DJI Mic1 works with the Pocket 3, but it would not allow me to customize the mic settings, i.e. gain like the Mic2 allegedly does. I also was not able to use get my Mic1 and Pocket 3 to work with my iMac for Zoom Calls. My computer would not authenticate the external mic. It worked fine with just the default Pocket 3 mic plugged into my computer. Thanks for sharing your product review.
Awesome as always David! We're just spoilt for choice nowadays that it's hard to decide on what to replace my OG DJI Osmo Action 1 when I go pull the trigger to do so. This is definitely on my radar but what I'm kinda stops me from doing so is the durability of it especially if you compare it to a traditional action cam. But yeah I totally love the specs and feature of this thing!
For me right now, this paired with the Ace Pro is I think going to completely cover our Hawaii trip. Crazy low light on both, but both uniquely their own in what they offer!
@@DavidManningvlog yeah I think that's a great combination, having these 1 inch sensors on these cams really make them so usable in any lighting conditions coupled along with killer stability makes it a more attractive vlogging setup than an actual camera.

I've been using the pocket 3 for a few months now. It's been my go to camera to capture everyday life AND some professional work as well. Clients aren't able to tell difference between this and my regular cinema camera.
I actually want to buy this as a webcam. I'm on video calls 3-4 hours a day and this would be game changing. And then I can use it for family/vacation/hiking/etc when I want too.
Cant you just readjust the framing when you turn on face tracking? Thats what I do. I double tap my face then you the joy stick to frame it where I want it and then leave it alone and it'll perfectly track you within the grid line you left it at
I'm an over packer and I always take all three🤣 We're leaving for Maui next week and I'm pretty sure I'm looking to take the Pocket 3, X3, and Ace Pro for the trip!
@@DavidManningvlog, ah man. Just got back from a trip to China and did the same. Ended up using my iPhone the most and the AP for underwater and snowboarding as I’m too precious with the P3. The only thing I would add is if you are a power user, bring power banks. The Nitecore 10,000mAh that is carbon fiber is very small and light. Looks like you will carry like a mule if you’re carrying for kids and wifey. Climbed up to Great Wall with a backpack full of gear. Not doing that again. Have fun with fam David!
The Osmo Pocket 3 is a game-changer for content creators. It's small, lightweight, and easy to use, but it produces stunning 4k 60fps footage. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I'm absolutely loving it. If you're looking for a powerful camera that won't weigh you down, the Osmo Pocket 3 is the perfect choice.
Great review normally these reviews are for people that are geeks and become complicated ,but this was a straight to the point easy to understand great video ,had everything I needed to know about this camera .im considering stopping my go pro some reason keeps knocking on the time lapse on ,also the night quality is really terrible
Is there a possibility to smoothen the face tracking? for my taste it's a little too quick to respond, thus kind of "shaking" the frame whenever the face moves a tiny bit around
Nope, no way to dial it in. I'm with you though and I find that dynamic tracking is much smoother with the movement to keep the subject in frame. The smoothest obviously is just to frame by hand without either tracking enabled, but then you have to really be paying attention
3 daughters and your wife…brother…you’re in big trouble 😁👍 David - thanks for the review, I’m thinking about buying this for all the reasons you mentioned.
Couldn’t agree more about the exposure compensation. Or even simpler, a button (regardless whether physical or right on the touch screen) for auto exposure lock. It’s ridiculous that DJI built in so many pro level features yet it still misses the basics. If it had that, I would upgrade from the Pocket 2 immediately.
I have a silicone cover for my Pocket 3 gimbal head. I wasn't a huge fan of it because it felt like too good of a fit and had a lot of tension when removing it. I felt like it may damage the gimbal over time. Lots of good 3rd party accessories out there now for the camera.
Have now owned every iteration of the Pocket cam from DJI and this is a great improvement in their line. I too plan on coupling the OP3 with the Ace Pro for our trip to Florida/Disney next month. Vlogging non-Disney stuff with the OP3 and taking the Ace Pro to the Park since it can get wet, etc and will handle the action a lot better. I'm thinking of doing a reaction video for me media channel to post at the end of the summer, but I really do love this little camera! Great review and looking forward to your next one!
Waiting for some type of water resistance on the pocket 3. Does not need to be water proof but to record in the rain or snow would be great. Maybe a pocket 3 pro is in the works.
Love the video - I got the DJI because of this review. Question. My Creator Combo is supposed to have a wide angle lense, but I cannot find it in the packaging. It says on the box its included, where did you find yours?
I just bought the Pocket 3 creator kit (finally in stock) and I’m so excited to try it out! Question for you… I’m actually considering getting another camera that will operate as a smaller camera that I can use to film inside shopping malls. I’m going to be using the pocket three for this as well, but I’m looking for something even smaller. My GoPro 12 is great in good lighting, but pretty terrible in low light… Would you recommend Ace Pro or The GO3S for filming in artificial light? Could the go3S handle lighting like in a shopping mall or grocery store or inside an artificially lit area?
I have the Pocket 1 and 2. Can't wait to get the 3, and my main camera is a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k (it won't fit in a pocket). I still love the DJIs. I even still use my Mavic 2 Pro drone, which has the same sized sensor.
@@SwoleNerdProductions2 different tools for different purposes. Whenever the situation allows, I use the BM, but I will utilize the DJI form factor to get shots that were otherwise impossible or impractical with a larger setup. Example: I shoot a lot of stringer video for the news and it's easiest to get around the city on a bicycle, so i carry the DJIs in my pouch and shoot using those.
@@TommyJonesProductions that’s a great idea. I used the Stringr app years ago, but never got too far with it. This would def work better for it. I’m personally looking into selling more clients on this quality video where they just want content and don’t care about the camera. That’s the goal anyways. Two clients I already know don’t care so those are good to go.
Just scrolled through the comments but quite a few a still unanswered. 1. How do you transfer your video files to a pc and what is the format of the videos 2 How can you review your footage on a hotel TV (I always do this to see if I need to redo a scene) 3 How strong is the zoom and is it steady 4 How long does it take to start videoing, in seconds (important for spontaneity) 5 does it have slow motion (240fps?) 6 does it have any apps that work with Bluetooth 7 what is the support like 8 does the screen work OK in strong sunlight that's about all I can think of for the moment, please join in a comment as I am seriously thinking of replacing my old but faithful Sony pj50 camcorder
Another great informative and entertaining video. My favorite prat (besides the poop joke at the end) is at 3:10 when you make the awesome sound effect of digital stabilization :)
Ok, I’ll update my DJI pocket… I’d love to know if they’re going to release this one in the white/cream? I love the updated screen - I wanted it with my 2. Great video
Hello David, love your videos. Would you recommend me this camera for a walking type videos. I feature walk & vlogs on my channel. Also, is there going to be a DJI Pocket 4 out later this year? Last question, would it work with the first version of the DJI Mic? Thanks.
Hi, if people's faces (and skin) was the main priority, would it be this or the Insta 360 Ace Pro? skin color and look and less funky digital artifacts?
Does it take decent photos? At least, a little better than an iPhone 15 pro Max? I am trying to figure out if this will be a decent all-in-one for personal use.
I got caught up in the DJI Long Wait cycle for this camera, thought i’d wait until what ever the issue was to get sorted so cancelled my order. Which was easy to do by the way, DJI customer support is very good it would seem. It also seems that stocks are good for now so checking out long term reviews to make sense. Thanks David, love your reviews, and it’s good that DJI are keeping the updates coming for this camera. So shall or shan’t I 😅. Your review has been a big positive help with that decision, thank you.
I have the DJI Mic 1 setup. Can this camera link those mics as well? I'm assuming so. Those mics are still solid, so I'm thinking I don't necessarily need the creator combo for that reason.
I really, REALLY want to use this for semi-casual hiking vids up and down the Rockies with my wife and our two corgi pups. With all the gear and food and water we bring for these 4-6 hour round trip hikes something like this compared to my iPhone and the DJI gimbal would be so much nicer. It’s a little dry and sometimes dusty going up and down trails but if you keep taking this to beaches on the west coast (and, lol, wind throwing it into rough and sandy cliffs) then maybe this will last more than two years and be a legitimate addition to my hiking adventures. My thought of a combo would be this, insta 360 x3 and my iPhone.
I bought mine to replace the use of my Ronin S set up, after injuring y biceps. I'm struggling with keeping the gimbal straight, so I can manually pan symmetrical things.. like building entrances, without the head tilting. Can you recommend any tricks..? other than mounting a DSLR on a tripod.. w/ a fluid head..
I’ve shot a few commercials and even a rock concert using the pocket three… Punches way above its price range. Is it as good as the Sony A7S three… Not even close. Long as you put the Sony on a Ronan stabilizer you are good. But I’m still incredibly impressed with the pocket three and its stabilization and Focus tracking is just fantastic. I always shoot in d-log and color correcting it in da Vinci resolve is just the best. People who are still using premiere Pro are clueless.
Hi, excellent information, thanks for sharing, appreciate if you can help me purchase a charger, What charger are you using and what power should someone check in the charger when purchasing one?
I've been filming a ton with it and haven't seen overheating at all. I haven't pressure tested it at high frame rates in high heat scenarios, but in normal shooting, I've seen no issues👍
David, as always, great video!! Saw someone with one while on Vacation in Cape Town last October and thought it was pretty cool. Have watched a few vids, and now definitely considering it for a next big vacation to Chicago this year.
@@DavidManningvlogthank you!! Did you get the baby swing chair separate? Sorry for the non camera questions haha! I’ve just been looking for something like this forever!
I love my Pocket 3 - BUT the audio from the Mic 2 sync drifts on long recordings. After 20 minutes the lip sync is way off. DJI have no solution and won't acknowledge the issue.
I wish there was a headphone jack or the ability to monitor audio via Mimo (yes, I know there is a VU meter). I shoot a lot of video of other people and I need to know the audio sounds good as I'm shooting.
My questions are about transferring the data to my cell phone so that I can post with social media. That’s what I normally do just with my phone. How time-consuming is that?

I worried of getting this answer😅, enjoy your trip!
Love your reviews, very informative!
I appreciate you watching Eddie!
I dropped mine off my motorcycle I was terrified to look at but it did well just a few small scratches on the gimbal lens is fine 🤞🏼🙌🏼
@11:50 EV Comp can maybe realized via the existing joystick. Wish it had some level of IP rating.
Hahha I'm reminded of that every single day🤣
Very handsome. Great overview. I didn’t know DJI had that, now I want one.
So far, I've been very happy with the Pocket 3. Great video thanks for sharing.
Found it... tucked in the carry case.
Nice little magnetic spot!
Love your channel dude, you deliver every single time.
Qs, DJI Action 4 or Pocket 3, for family trip/wedding event. What would you use?
I just bought the Pocket 3 creator kit (finally in stock) and I’m so excited to try it out!
Question for you… I’m actually considering getting another camera that will operate as a smaller camera that I can use to film inside shopping malls. I’m going to be using the pocket three for this as well, but I’m looking for something even smaller. My GoPro 12 is great in good lighting, but pretty terrible in low light… Would you recommend Ace Pro or The GO3S for filming in artificial light? Could the go3S handle lighting like in a shopping mall or grocery store or inside an artificially lit area?
WICKED CAMERA, GREAT REVIEW. I'M HOPING MY GRANDSON CAN PICK ONE UP FOR ME... STAY COOL AND KEEP PUSHIN' BROTHER... PEACE FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO
Would you recommend it for overhead / top down filming? I record painting tutorials mostly but want to get into vlogging as well.
I’m coming from the 6k as well. I recently bought the OP3 and excited to use that instead of carrying the monster around.
@@SwoleNerdProductions2 - I use the Stringr app, too. I'm on their "pro" list now, so I get a bit more assignments than before.
Your sound effects are great. Especially at 2x speed!
Hahhaha! Well now I have to go try that!
I’d like to see the pause recording like they had in the pocket 2. That built in “jump cut” feature was great!
Just scrolled through the comments but quite a few a still unanswered.
1. How do you transfer your video files to a pc and what is the format of the videos
2 How can you review your footage on a hotel TV (I always do this to see if I need to redo a scene)
3 How strong is the zoom and is it steady
4 How long does it take to start videoing, in seconds (important for spontaneity)
5 does it have slow motion (240fps?)
6 does it have any apps that work with Bluetooth
7 what is the support like
8 does the screen work OK in strong sunlight
that's about all I can think of for the moment, please join in a comment as I am seriously thinking of replacing my old but faithful Sony pj50 camcorder
Great video
What about over heating up mention 3hrs battery with the extra but most says it over heats
As always great video. I feel like I should give this camera a try ;) Cheers!
what would be I be missing out on if I get the Pocket 2 instead? Would I be making a mistake?
Hello David, love your videos. Would you recommend me this camera for a walking type videos. I feature walk & vlogs on my channel. Also, is there going to be a DJI Pocket 4 out later this year? Last question, would it work with the first version of the DJI Mic? Thanks.
Is their a Panoramic mode for making larger prints in post.? Thank You!!
Why in the world doesn’t the mic connect to the case from side to side to keep the footprint uniform?
Can you monitor/adjust audio input? What is the native video file? Still photo size?
Any overheating issue? I am just going to be using it for 4k 25fps that’s what I am worried about I really want one
Any sign of a macro lens for the Pocket 3? I know they existed for the Mk1 and I think I saw some for the Mk2 but I've not seen any for the 3.
Love your presentation style❤
It's practical too
What swing set is that?? I’ve been looking for something like that for my kids but can’t find anything!
Pine Grove 10ft from Costco👍 www.costco.com/pine-grove-10ft-swing-set.product.100753457.html
@@DavidManningvlogthank you!! Did you get the baby swing chair separate? Sorry for the non camera questions haha! I’ve just been looking for something like this forever!
Can you upload your videos wirelessly to a Mac, or do you have to connect the DJI to your Mac using a USB cable? Thanks.
I love my Pocket 3 - BUT the audio from the Mic 2 sync drifts on long recordings. After 20 minutes the lip sync is way off. DJI have no solution and won't acknowledge the issue.
Interesting! I'll test this!
@@DavidManningvlog that would be great. Sync has been reported for a long time but never addressed by DJI
Hi I have question ,, can we use other bluetooth mics with this ? or just the DJI one
I'm in the market of buying a new camera, do you still recommend this camera?
Absolutely! Love this thing!
Hows it hold up in the heat? I do my videos with a go pro and they over heat here in az
Waiting to see what happens in the long term
The pocket 3 looks like a great camera but I will wait for the pocket 4!
