    I would add the VW Jetta GLI to the list. My son bought a 2023 with the DSG for $31,000 and with 20K miles on it now he loves it. Black with the Black package it is the best looking Jetta of this generation that I’ve seen. To me it feels like a long wheelbase GTI without the sketchy Haptic Touch controls.

      @@Diego-oy6en I agree. When I think of "value," I'm usually thinking of essentials instead of upgrades. I'm currently considering a Forester Premium. It's got all the basic features at the best price point. I view it as a better value than Crosstrek because for around the same price it's more capable (size-wise), has the power driver's seat, pano roof, and defaults to the 182HP engine (which should be the base engine for Impreza and Crosstrek as welll. I just want something reliable and at the same time I don't really WANT a smaller car, it just doesn't make sense to me, spending 25K for a car when I can spend 30K-35K on a SUV that has more space and that has better ground clearance.

      I’d recommend the CR-V if you’re willing to spend 35k but if you don’t need a big backseat, the Mazda CX-5 select is 30k and comes with similar features to an EX CRV awd! I’d go HR-V if you don’t mind it being a bit lethargic, it’s a great value

Great on great roads but it's losing its charm on bad roads. which we have a lot. (And the visibility is AWFULL). That and snow. I ride it for free so I don't mind... Case in point I was looking at a 2023 dodge charger king Daytona that the MSRP price was 102,000, the dealer add an addendum price of 72000 !!! That is robbery

    Pay cash for a car and do not finance. A brand new car depreciates by 10% of more as soon as it is driven off the dealers lot. Save your money and purchase a used vehicle around 3-5 years old and invest the money that you would have wasted on car payments.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  10 місяців тому +3

      Not bad advice or anything but It’s been complicated lately and it largely depends on the car you’re buying. lately, used prices have been so bad that buying new actually makes more sense than lightly used cars due to the warranties and free maintenance with some models. The interest kills people right now but a lot of people can’t afford a decent car without financing. Weird times right now.

    No car under $30K here is worth considering. Love the ND Miata but I need more car for my commute/utility in my daily and can't find these at MSRP. Love the new BRZ - but it has to be pre-ordered with a 6 month min wait list - and if pre-ordered cars aren't picked up, or dealer orders do take delivery - they're going to be sold at heavy markups on the floor. Have dealers in my area that will sell WRX and Civic SI at MSRP without "markups" but in lieu of markups, they'll have post factory but pre-delivery to dealer "equipment packages" that come with basic things like floor mats to non-essentials like lip spoilers at insane premiums. And after dealer fees, TTT, Civic Si are $35K starting and WRX are $40K - embarrassing for a premium trim WRX that comes with less amenities than the prior gen premium trim, and $8K more than what my prior gen Limited cost me. All these cars took a $10K price jump in the span of one new generation, and the used prior-gen versions of these cars are only a $3-5K price saving even if they're a decade old. These are no longer affordable unless you're making $120K/yr with a $1,000/mo mortgage from pre-2019, or $140K and renting.
