    Thank you I do automotive and aircraft AC. Though I know how to fix HVAC as it is very close to the same thing. I would had to buy/make a recovery tank to do this on my home. I did not know they had that part. What a clever idea to solve a pore design idea. Other than $ I have no idea why they all don't screw on with a Schreuder valve. I guess engineers don't like field technicians or its all about money.

    I think this solution is very clever for a DIY person who doesn't have the equipment to recover the R22 and/or 410A refrigerate. I have a question though, how do you remove the schrader valve from the old service port so the refrigerant can flow freely through the swivel T and the new service port? I figure you need to remove the schrader valve for the refrigerant to move without restrictions onto the new pressure switch and the new service port. If you can answer this question I will greatly appreciate it.

    Hi! I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a Goodman heat pump, and the compressor is not getting power due to a bad pressure switch (no continuity from wire going into the switch and wire coming out). I looked up the part (Goodman b1360719), and it says it's a low pressure switch. However, it's brazed onto the high pressure line. ?? I don't know enough about it to know if a low pressure switch should be on a high pressure line, but it doesn't sound right to me, lol. Anyway, I was so happy to find your video and see it might be something I could do myself, using this method to replace the switch!! I think it should be ok because there's nothing else connected to the line between the switch and the port where you would connect the high pressure gauge. Do you think it'll work, and should I use that same part? Or should I get a high pressure switch instead? I can send pictures, if that would help.

      Thank you so much for answering my question! I bypassed the switch to see if everything would work without it (temporarily, just to test it). The compressor and fan came on, but no cold air. Unfortunately, I guess it really is out of charge and the switch was doing it's job. It's an old R22 system, so I'm scared to find out the repair cost (or even worse, they'll probably recommend replacement). 😢 But again, thanks for your help!

    Better than nothing, but the way you placed it, it can not be considered as a "hight pressure safety switch", because it actually monitors the "condensing pressure", witch is different. A HP safety switch must be situated between the discharge of the compressor and the entry to condenser, as close as possible to the compressor.

    Should've put it on the discharge line rather than the liquid line but otherwise good job

    • @inoahmann7542
      @inoahmann7542 3 роки тому

      Why? I've always thought the heat from the hot gas would make the the preasure switch fail quicker.

      It doesn’t really matter where the pressure switch is installed but the hot gas line does get very hot.

    This is a dollar tree type of fix that will most likely be a source of leaks in the future. I could think of a couple of situations where I'd be a hack and put this in (5pm on a friday, etc), but overall this isnt an ideal fix. What should be done is to pump down the system (you dont have to recover the refrigerant) and then properly braze in a new switch is the best way to do this.

    • @harryschrysan3183
      @harryschrysan3183 11 місяців тому

      Most rooftops i have seen DO NOT have valves to manually pump down and isolate the system. They only have the service ports.

    You replaced the low suction side pressure switch, with a pressure switch on the liquid line high side ? So how is it protecting against a unit that has low refrigerant in it and why do factory units come with both high and low side pressure switches if this method is right?
