I can't even thank you enough for this video. We recently moved and had a very old fashioned thermostat at our last house. At the new house, we have this exact thermostat and some how I got it on Celsius last night and could not fix it. I was about to call an electrician when I came upon your video. I had it changed back to Fahrenheit in seconds! Very informative video!
Thank you! I had no idea it had a menu to change to heating pump. I paid someone to come and fix my unit since it was only blowing cold air and he told me that I had purchased the wrong thermostat. That this thermostat was for electric heaters and mine works with gas. That was a waste of money. A million thanks to your video. God bless! I get to keep my thermostat now 😊
Thanks so much! it only took me 12 hrs. to install mine. I had no Idea I had to change to heat pump in the menu. I must have tried 400 wiring combinations and could not get the AC to kick on.
Me too!! Haha I literally placed the wires exactly how it came off the other one and it was blowing hot air. I spent the same amount of time until I gave up. The Honeywell people don’t even answer the damn customer service. I saw this video but I looked over and didn’t think I would find the answer until I looked at everything all over again.
This is great but how am i supposed to know what types of systems i have? I don't know the difference between all the heating and cooling systems are. I just want the thermostat to heat or cool automatically.
Really liked your video here. Hoping you can give me some input for my case.I have a older Single Stage, Standard Efficiently furnace with a central A/C unit outside on the ground. I just want to use my furnace strictly for Heating my home and nothing to do with the A/C unit. I have 4 wires coming out from the wall. Red, Green, White & Yellow. How would I have to wire/program with my 4 wires then? You had yours set for Auto, does that have to do with using a Central Air unit or? Thx so much for your time & knowledge on my situation here.
@@D2DNYAC I was trying to turn the heat off and i pressed several buttons and changed all the settings by mistake. Now i don’t know what was the default one.
Thanks for sharing and doing these videos. Liked it all. Maybe I can help you and others with something. My experience with heat pumps has been that the mode of operation (energizing the reversing valve) is determined by the manufacture of the heat pump. So if you were to have a Rheem in Delaware or Texas would be same mode. If you have Carrier for those same locations would be opposite mode of operation. Thanks
From a visual point of view the high efficiency furnace exhaust gas pipes is usually PVC, because these gases are cooler than that of a standard furnace hence higher efficiency
To turn heat on what temp do we set it at? I put new batteries, fan is on auto, & heat is set at 76 but temp is showing 67° in the house. Don't hear it turn on. It's 35° outside right now. I'm in south Texas
If your system/HVAC equipment has heating operation then in this case the thermostat is set correctly for heat and it may not be the issue, problem may be with HVAC equipment, call a pro.
@@blackmacgyver9965 We freezed our butts off during the winter storm we had. We need to test it out to see if heater will start working if not I'll need to call AC guy to fix it before the next winter storm we r supposedly going to get. We aren't used to such low/freezing temps in south Tx.

@@D2DNYAC I was installing the exact same thermostat. I ended up calling in a specialist. He informed me I installed correctly the issue had to do with incorrect/ wired wiring from the original installation.
In the configuration menu you can offset the temperature reading sensed by the thermostat up or down by 4 degrees hence you should lower it a few degrees see how it works

@Dolce Gabbs pull the thermostat off the base see if fan stops, if no check AC unit it’s not the thermostat, if yes re the re install and place thermostat in off mode while fan set to auto see if fan still runs thermostat most likely is faulty, switch fan to on wait and listen 👂 for a click then back to auto listen 👂 for a click, should happen within 10 seconds .

I don’t have w2 I only have 5 wires I don’t have brown . Will it still be same setup ?
Okay if you have no wire w2 set 221 to 1 and save
anyway top set the differential on this?

How can I put a lock on this? Like, so it’s locked and the temp cannot be changed??
I don't believe this thermostat comes with that option

any idea if the low temp limit can be changed? wont let me set heat lower than 40 degF
