This song is about the flame still burning inside you, no matter what comes at you. You're free to have your own interpretation. Even Iolanda said she doesn't want to explore the meaning so much, so each person can relate in their own way. Everyone has struggled with something a certain moment in their lives and this is about how you're still here and making it beautifully despite the struggle. Thank you so much for your reaction, I understand that it will be a hard qualification, but I am proud, and not even bother to not pass, because this is a masterpiece and it's good that we have the opportunity to show it to a major audience. Sending lots of love from Portugal❤
Interesting to mention is: the most voted song from the public was João Borsch, Iolandas song was in 2nd place. Most voted from the jury was Iolanda, João Borsch at 5th place.
An excellent song, with several musical influences, that makes us think of Madredeus, Dulce Pontes, and Amália herself. A fusion between traditional and contemporary that results in a perfect wedding. The message, with a great emotional charge, transports people on a journey of sensations that affect the three levels of human consciousness, and awaken feelings and memories stored deep in our minds. The performance on stage, duly thought out down to the smallest detail, completes the transmission of the message, with the presence of the dancers who represent the "demons" in the performer's mind. As soon as the scream at the end of the song is heard, demonstrating the will to win, the "demons" disappear. Iolanda will represent Portugal at Eurovision, and in my opinion, she doesn't need to change anything for Malmo. Everything is perfect.
My understanding it is about empowerment, believing in yourself, following your dreams, never giving up in oneself, forgiving those who wished one harm, keeping that flame burning all the way so what can achieve one dreams. Mental health is the wrong definition here.. Portuguese is my second language.
The chorus throughout the song is enchanting, but especially at minute 6:05 of your video-it's so beautiful. Yes, it's mellow but powerful, and I think it will get the audience's attention. I hope people will gravitate towards this song as much as I am. Can hardly wait to see her perform live on that big stage in Malmö
Its a song that is bilding up to the sream ... Its beautiful! As that cry from fado, but in a modern version. This song means the batles and strungles, with and unstoping resiliance to go trought life. Because "sou chama que ainda arde" (i'm a flame that still burns) even thought our dreams haven't succed yet. The scream is the rage that opens space for the flame...like a Fenix! Is an empowerment of self knownleage.
I just really glad that Perpétua did not get last place...Bem Longe Daqui was my guilty favorite I knew had no chance to win, but got to the final and did not get last place...so happy for them. Congrats to all the artists who got through to the final and congrats to Iolanda.
Pure class. Don't matter ESC classification. We show fantastic music and masterclass performance. Like it or not Eurovision... thank you sou much Iolanda for your fantastic work of art!
Bring together those who love me at a table Forgive anyone who wanted to see me suffer They don't fool me (No, no) I'm every size what a fantastic lyric
It is a really disturbing trend I see that entries with any comedy elements in them are regarded by some "trash", "fast food music" and whatnot, while so-called "serious" songs (like this) are automatically consirered superior, "art", "quality" and "real music"...This does not happen in e.g. films, plays or literature - comedies are not regarded as "trash" and automatically inferior to drama or tragedies, both genres are regarded as art in their own right, so why does this apply to music?! (Or rather, *some* apply it to music.) This makes me so sad. And all the more so as it's Eurovision music, Eurovision which IS first & foremost a TV entertainment show! Some people have forgotten this & got this all wrong, regrettably...
Michael Jackson is art and almost all of his songs were uptempo...we need to know how to differentiate if a song is quality or not no matter if is more slow and dramatic or uptempo beat.
You forget that Serbia is in this Semi-final as well, And it is definitely a ballad. I think there will be people who are upset with the results of either semifinal at this point... This is the strongest year we've had since 2020
If this goes to the final is definetly leftside soreboard. But this cant fail to qualify because of the televotes. I think this will be like Estonia last year
I've been hearing you have an anti-israel approach for not reacting to the Israeli song ....😜silly me and I was thinking you're all about music and not politics
I'm sorry, but the way you pronouce "canção" is just bizarre. It would take literally just a few seconds online to learn how to say it in a way that was at least close to the corect way.
This is a non-qualifier. Portugal’s only chance this year was to send Leo Middea, by far the most fresh, and most charismatic artist in their selection. Iolanda’s song, though beautiful, is not something we haven’t seen before from Portugal, I’m not sure the European audience is gonna be excited enough to vote for it.
Ur delusional, it would not even qualify, iolanda was the right choice, so leave ur "facts" to other place because they are nonsense, as portuguese u have no taste. So stop saying it will not qualify, jealousy kills.
@@renanbpwhich facts??? Where are you getting the facts from? It is just your opinion. The song from Leo was really boring, his voice is not good enough on stage... It has no quality.
@@sav0001 i dont know, austria, swiss, belgium, greece, NL, Norway, Izrael... it will be interesting, and in first semis we are still not sure what will be with Iceland 🤷🏻♀️. I have a feeling that in both semis one of the favorites will not go to the final, its tense.
Sorry all forgot about Serbia being a ballad here 😂 oh my too many good ones 😅
Serbia and Portugal are clearly competing with each other for the minimalistic ballad lovers' votes, that is so true!
@@florenna Portugal and Serbia can coexist with each other. I think both can do amazing results in May
It’s simply sensational. Love love love this track.
Portugal again the dark horse of the season🇮🇹♥️🇵🇹

Oh yes, I love madredeus, but I think Iolanda has a very different vibe.
This song is about mental health, and her struggle to combat against it... But she finds it
Ahhh well that makes a lot of sense ❤

According to the Iolanda: It's about a woman's inner flame and capacity for rebirth. Not necessarily mental health.
I love how people can interpret her song in manny ways. So proud of Iolanda for representing us.
Mental health?? You are crazy!!
Proud of our roots, culture and language, this song represents Portugal perfectly.
So proud of my country once again!🫶🏻🇵🇹 Let’s go Iolanda!✨🤍

everyone who said "united by music" but ignore one of the countries just because they afraid of their audience, is the definition of hypocrisy :)
