He's like an older Nicholas Alves!
They are both good Candidates. I went for Ioland from the start, I'm still there, more Portuguese, nostalgic and emotional, some Fado nuances that I like :) , but his music is great also, in my opinion would need something to differentiate the beat form last part from the beat fom the beguining. Probably something more powerful (Thunder like) to mark the start of last part beat, some fast arpeggios with synth, and maybe some double bassy kicks on the drum to achieve a better climax, but in general is good.

João looks and sounds to me a little like some 21st century Adam & The Ants ua-cam.com/video/4B2a6l6wM2k/v-deo.html (year 1981). I really like this performance and his stage presence. Instrumentals are fresh, interesting cross over that's pleasing to my ears. He certainly stands out, in a good way.
