Hi David I'd not seen anyone commenting on the fuses in the comments must have missed it but yeah agreed if your keeping the original lighter wire switch you don't need to worry about adding a fuse as that already has one inside But if they're planning to hardwire it in like shown in this video and don't use a fuse all of us Engineers know that won't end well 🤣

@@The_journeyy No I plug in an extra fuse into the adapter, so there is now two fuses in the adapter. That's how I saw it done in other videos, I'd assume that's probably right. So far I've had no issues. I was saying you don't need the plug in one that the lights come with. But instead use an extra fuse in the adapter when doing it that way for a hard wire
I get what your saying thanks for taking the time to clarify that for me and yes that's right that's what I've done as well its the right way and safest way to do 😊

You want to use a fuse that is the right fuse for the lights you can work out what fuse using the formula but for these small lights you won't require a fuse that's bigger than the one I used in this video P (Watts) ÷ V (Voltage) = I (current amps)
it sounds like you've either broken something or have not put it back properly I wasn't there with you so without seeing it I couldn't tell you what the issue is there's loads of videos for the Polo on youtube have a look at those for the door and that should help you narrow down the problem
Hey mate any help my car's fusebox keep giving 14.4 volts and my ambient lighting keeps going funny any help? what I can do my led lights keep going faulty.
To be perfectly honest I wouldn't know I wouldn't be able to find the problem without diagnosing it myself in person. There could literally be multiple things that could be causing that if I was fault finding this I'd start with the obvious things like is the battery working at the correct voltage, then I'd check why I'm getting 14.4 volts which much higher than the 12 volts I'm looking for at the fusebox possible issue there what's causing it?, next after that I'd check my wiring on the ambient lights but that wiring is simple so I can't imagine that would be the issue but always worth double checking. The ambient lights your using are designed for 12 volts like most accessories in a car and your fusebox is putting out too much voltage that will cause those lights to play up as their not designed to be working at that voltage your issue is probably not uncommon for your car have a look online someone may have experienced it already and put the solution online good luck
So i tried this, and they powered but after like 10 seconds i started seeing smoke. I think there is too much current running into the LED lights and they started to over heat. Any suggestions on how to fix or why this might be?
Hi Bubby green It's hard to really say what could be the cause of your problem without seeing your wiring my best guess so far is you've tried to Jerry rig the lights by connecting them to the cigarette lighter and you've not connected them through the fuse box using the correct fuse for the lights how have you done your wiring?
That's!!! what im afraid of on my brand new 2024 car..... I will just use the cig lighter instead, but thank you for showing me that fuse adapter. that things cool for a jam. Also nice direction and video quality. I think most people are afraid of a few things: - Will this drain my battery? - Will this mess up my electrical wiring and or my warranty if the car is new? - What if you cut it and end up with more wires like another use had before? Two wires would be ideal, but I am worried about overloading, under loading, etc.... I do have a multimeter to test, but I think im just gonna make it look neat with the cigg lighter method it comes with. Thanks again for your video for the world.
Yes the red is the power and black is ground it's a common know fact in engineering when it comes to colours used if you want to check you can test it using a multimeter
Is it possible to wire it to the cigarette lighter power source instead of the fuse panel, just it seems too complicated for me and I don't have all the tools, in case there's a short it would fry the cigarette lighter fuse right?
I knew what my power usage is and the voltage the kit uses from that I could then calculate the current its simple the formula for is Current = P (Watts) ÷ V (Voltage) hope that helps. If I remember correctly it was a 1 amp fuse have a look in the description I put all the items used in there :)
Sounds like the manufacturer of the ones you picked up has a different wiring configuration that's unusual shouldn't have that many different wires in there that makes the job a lot harder for you and without the wiring diagram from the supplier its a no go easiest thing to do is pick up a new set
Hi, My earth is too far away to strip only a bit of the casing so would I need to strip the casing as far as needed to expose the earth wire and then cut off the excess red wire that isn't needed? And is it okay to have the earth way which is thin exposed. Should I just wrap it up with some casing or something? Would appreciate any help hugely.
It's fine to adjust the red wire to the size that you need it and then expose the earth I'd wrap it with insulation after but if you don't have that electrical tape will do never leave wires uninsulated
Muy buen video, estuve buscando mucho tiempo por qué no quería usar la toma del encendedor, sabía que tendría que haber una forma más prolija de hacer la instalación y por fin la encontré! Gracias 😊
The radio circuit in cars typically stays on in most car manufactures I've not seen one that differs from that yet you chose a circuit that is always on so the lights will stay on easy solution is look for another circuit that comes on and goes off when the ignition is activated the answer to how you can do that is at 3:10 on this video without a multimeter it will have to be a plug and try until you find one
do those led kits save your color/brightness, etc settings or do you have to open the app everytime to set them up? i want to do a OEM style effect. hardwired it in, put a switch on the dash and just turn on and off after setting up the first time. is that possible?
Great video! Just a quick question, do I need to have a reader to check the volts? I have a fuse checker which lights up so I could still see which side has the power and which doesn’t but not the readings. Would this be an issue?
Hi the wiring principles will be exactly the same the fusebox might however be in a different place and your earth might not be the same bolt and maybe another bolt or screw 😀
I'm an electronics engineer by trade if your trying to calculate yours here is the formula for what fuse rating you need the formula Current (Amps) = Watts / Voltage on your lights if you look at the label it will tell you the watts of your product and the voltage it requires and you can then work out the fuse to use hope that helps 😀
I'm up in Hampshire if I had time I definitely would come and help but I've got so many things going on with work and life needing my attention thanks for the kind words 👏
Hi, i bought a usb hardwire kit and the ground wire (black) is too short for me to ground it into the area you grounded it, is there any other areas closer to the fuse box that i could set the ground ?
Not that I saw but to be fair I did not look too hard you can always extend the ground wire so it reaches or if you've any luck you'll find another area 😊
Do I need to put a fuse in the fuse Adapter? I have empty Spots and i want to Connect it to my Ambient Lightning. In a Tutorial which ive seen, the guy wasnt using an extra fuse. He just put the Adapter in without any fuse
Let's say I wanted to extend the long side for a more clean install in the rear door panels would there be any issue with me cutting and adding some wire to extend the leds farther back to go through the door harness?
Hello Over and out thanks for the feedback about the channel and support I've got a lot more content coming and I hope its going to get much better over time 😊
So if I’m putting this in the back of my car, that’s where the fuse box is, where do I put the crimp terminal part? Does it need to be on the fuse box or on any metal bolt?
I'm not sure what you mean by crimp terminal? Do you mean where do you put the earth? The process for connecting to your fusebox will be exactly the same as shown in this video the location of the fusebox doesn't change the process once you've plugged in the power supply into the fusebox the earth can be connected to any bolt that's connected to the cars body which is grounded or any other earth wire have a look online to find where your earths on your car are if your not sure how to spot them hope that helps ☺️
Yeah the terminal part that’s the ground. My fuse box is in my boot and there isn’t really any bolts to connect it to except some painted screw ends, I’m guessing I’d need to sand off the paint and add a nut to them for the ground to work correctly?
Yeah if you've established those screws are connected to an earth then for the best connection it's best to do what you said that's how I'd do it hope that helps 😊
You can use the cigarette lighter but its not the correct way to do it and it could potentially fry the lights/cause them to misfunction or potentially cause a fire hope that helps
I tried installing this aswell in the same car you have but unfortunately I can’t fit the lighting in the little gaps how did you do this? If I try it while pushing hard the plastic on the light will bend and not go in…
Hey Fluxy98 I had the same issue when I first started trying to install mine especially whilst the panel was attached to the car door I believe the gap that's there is tiny and completely seals up when the door card is on I discovered it by accident when my door card was off if you push on the top of the door card a little it exposes the area after that you don't need to push on it just slide the fibre in. Any issues let me know 😊
If the lights are designed to work with 5V then I can't imagine they'll do well with a 12V supply into them unless there's a step down transformer in there without actually seeing them in front of me I can't say it's like answering a question blindly with too many unknown variables
@@The_journeyy Thank you very much for your response! Unfortunately, this card was not included with me. However, I think I have found the app. Thanks for your nice videos, keep it up 💪🏻
So Im wanting to add footwell under glow leds and door panel trim leds to my truck. I already installed a starlight headliner, I connected 2 different projectors and ran them to one of my fuses with the wire tap (I used speaker wire to lengthen the wires, don't know if that's a no no) it's been running for almost a year now with no issues. Im wanting to do the same thing with the footwell leds and door trim leds, I want to connect them together and run them to one fuse. Do I have to worry about overloading my fuses with this type of install and should I swap the speaker wire to something else? I don't know a lot about electrical but so far the stuff I have done has not blown up in my face but I don't want to end up making a mistake
Personally I wouldn't do it because there's a risk of it playing up at some point because both items are pulling on the same load but in theory as long as the fuse your plugging into is enough for both accessories it should be fine, the headliner sounds like such a good shout I bet it looks so good
Hi, I’m trying to install these in my car, I’ve done everything and when I plug into the fuse box every single fuse option lights up the lights even when my ignition is off. Could you help me please ?
Hi there Amir, its much easier to see what fuse ports are always live if you've a multimeter If you don't have that you'll just have to try each one until you find one that doesn't stay on after your ignition goes off When I did it in the video it only took me a second because I've a multimeter you can pick up a cheap one for between 6-10 quid online or in Halfords hope that helps mate
Thanks for doing this video! Can you put the same gauge(?) or amp fuse in the fuse tapper? Like if I'm plugging into a 7.5 amp can I take the original 7.5 and a new 7.5 and plug both into the tap?
Whatever fuse you calculate is needed to run your lights that fuse needs to be smaller than the original fuse in the circuit your tapping into I touched on why in the video 7.5amps is far too large for small lights like this they should be a similar size to the fuse I used in mine typically for small lights like that thanks for the kind words 😊
@@The_journeyy Do you have any videos that go in depth into how it works? I'm going to install a 12v cig outlet in my glove box and don't fully understand how the electronics are supposed to work. its called a 12v outlet, but the battery is a 12v battery, right?
@@kylemarienthalyeah 12v. Make sure when youre checking with the multimeter to check while the car is off as well to make sure its not hot. You can use the same amp fuse just dont do more than the original. Just for a cig lighter 5 amp is fine.
Hi mate just brough the footwell lights from autobeam for my mk8 2019 ford fiesta st-line. Came with a micro 3 fuse connector, however the install video provided was for a mk7 fiesta with a different fuse box. I've got access to my fuse box however they isn't any free connectors. Any suggestions on how to connect the lights?
Find a slot that's already got another fuse that's for a none essential circuit and then use a wire tap with two slots I made a video that shows that full process on here
Have a look on Google for the fuse box lay out for your car it will tell you what the rows are for or the car manual I'd the choose one connected to non essentials like radio, interior lights and stay away from fuses for airbags or safety items like that 😊
Hi I've not tried that myself but I believe these were made to be run by a car a battery. A power source is a power source however so if the source you was using was reliable and provided the power requirements required in theory you should be able to power them up whether or not the lights would last or behave properly is another question 😊
That makes it a little harder but personally if I didn't have a convenient ground I would look for a close by ground for one of my accessories and use a t-tap wire connector to connect my cable onto that it's easy and requires very little tools have a look for videos on UA-cam for electrical grounds on your car or look on Google hope that helps if you still have any questions let me know
There's something off about the way your wiring it or you've got a defective slot your tapping into tell me more about your wiring so I can get an idea of what might be the issue
I'm actually putting two sets of leds in the car. One set is for the dash that I want on when the car is running. And the other I want to be able to turn on and off in the car.
The good ones come with a little remote that will be the easiest no fuss solution as you can just turn it off that way abit like a switch minus the work required to install it
Don’t get me wrong certain things don’t make sense in the video lyk where nd how the wires for the front leds were hidden nd routed, but once you take apart the trim pieces u get how he did it. Nd jus a recommendation imo it’s better to route the rear lights thru under the door trim pieces if Ygwim
Another thing is you don’t need to hard wire it straight away if you don’t have the tools atm as long as you’ve fit everything properly in terms of hiding cables nd routing it bring the 12V charger to driver side nd when u have the tools you can hardwire without needing to take everything apart but may vary dependin on ur brand of light
Is there any problem if I use a 15 amp fuse?? Im trying it and it doesn't work, I've checked the voltage and everything is right, I don't know whats wrong
Yeah there is it won't be safe and if something goes wrong with your lights that fuse will allow a fire to happen before it does anything you need the correct fuse for the power usage your using try a 5amp that will work :)
Would it also work to tap into the acc fuse? I was thinking of doing that with mine because I would like them to turn whenever your key is in the acc position or whenever you turnover you vehicle to start it and I would also like to them turn off automatically when you turn off your vehicle. It is starting to get annoying to turn off and on in the 12v outlet lol
I've never done it that way I'd have to look it up to see I personally just use the cars fuse boxes or a tap on a circuit that can handle an additional load. I'd have to look into that
It's a vag group car I don't see any reason why you couldn't install it. I've not owned one yet but I'm pretty sure the installation would be pretty much the same the fuse box might just be in a different place but the principles the same hope that helps 😊
When I fit mine ,iam going to see which if any spare or fuse (to use a piggy back) is powered when my light (auto) turn on, failing that I will wire to a spare ign on fuse.
Do the lights still work for you? I hardwired a set in my Jetta a while ago and they slowly turned from red to pinkish and then quit working. Not sure if too much power was going through them or what. Any pointers?
Hey Alex, mine still work perfectly. That does sound rather odd to be fair unless you just got unfortunate and got a faulty set. I only got my set off Ebay pretty sure they were just the cheap typical set from China. How did you hardwire them did you do that piggy back thing from the cigarette lighter or the proper way through the fuse adapter?
@@The_journeyy I actually tapped into the power wire from the light switch so that when my lights are on my interior lighting is on as well. I just got a new set in. Higher end Govee RGBIC lights ($40ish CAD) and I’m going to try to keep the cigarette adapter attached cause it’s got a few resistors and such in it so maybe having to pass through that before it gets to the lights will protect my lights a little better. There’s also a fuse built into the cigarette adapter so that is probably a little safer.
I thought you might be doing something along those lines, personally I wouldn't do it that way as it often causes issues when you piggy back off another supply like that. Good shout on the gove set they're definitely worth the money 💰
@@The_journeyy @Alex Neudorf so how would you connect the wirings to the light switch then as I am looking to do the same and would want the ambient lighting to come on when I turn the beams on rather than when the engine turns on, please let me know!

There is a proper way to do it but it's more work thanks for the idea I might make a video on it in the future 😀

And when headlights are off, footwell lights go off etc ? I’m looking for a way to make the led lights turn on with the headlights Thanks
@journeytomydreamcars bro do you know how to install the LED lights that come without the plug ie they come with just loose tip wiring that ask to be connected to the door power supply etc
If they're the ones that come with just loose positive and negative wire and no plug you can just put a fuse tap at the end like mine and wire them into the fuse box hope that helps 😄
@@The_journeyy yeah it is the one with a 12v+ wire and one 12v- wire, would the fuse tap go into the fuse box as got 14 wires and some for the door that are not long enough to be rooted back to the fuse box and seller said there's main and sub control boxes if that makes sense
A fuse tap would give it power but I'm not sure exactly what all the wiring would look like for your set I honestly couldn't say how I'd wire it up without actually seeing it to see what it needs

I know this is a supper old video idk if your gonna respond but is there a reason my lights don’t turn of when I turn off the car I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze
If your referring to these type of lights yes. If your lights don't turn off its because they've been wired up to a part of the car that doesn't turn off when the ignition goes off some circuits in the car stay on but they use a very low amount of voltage connecting these lights to that can drain your battery My lights are wired up to a spare ignition fuse which when the ignition is off no power runs to them hope that helps 😊
The Manufacturers of mine use an app called happy lighting different suppliers use different apps the name of the app will be in the box for your manufacturer
Hey bro, amazing video, been looking for this as I don't want to use the v12 socket! Quick question, do the lights remember your previous setting when you turn the car on? Essentially want to set a colour and brightness and never touch the app again.
The ones I've do recall the settings I think the only time they forget is if you disconnect the battery but I can't speak on all the manufacturers for these being like that. I'm glad the video was helpful thanks for watching 😊
Bro where can i go to get the lights installed into my car ? Im looking for a easier and cheaper way to get my leds installed bc I dont think I could do it myself 😅
I am not sure where exactly based on where you are but I'd reach out to local car modification places they might be able to do it for you but I am not sure how much that would cost to get it done privately I can't imagine it would be cheap.
@The_journeyy Bro is there any way you could assist me with installing mines in? I have a toyota camry and led lights rn. I will cash app you or zenmo you for helping me. Please lol
Hi, just a quick question, I did mine as you explained in your video but my lights never went off, they are on all the time, I took the 10amp fuse that also works for the normal interior lights and those ones went off when the car is close/lock but not the new one, the only way to turn off these ones is using the remote control, is any way to make them work with the car? like opening/closing the door etc...like the original lights? or you can only turn on/off using the remote control? thank you.
Hi Carlos thanks for reaching out, what car do you've? Its hard for me to answer your question without seeing your setup but judging by what you've said your wiring is not done like mine I didn't want wire up to an interior light which from what you've said is what you've done? I wired up mine using a fuse adapter to a spare fuse slot on the car that comes on and off with the ignition being turned on With the way yours is wired because they're always on they can drain your battery If your trying to wire up to the interior light of your car you'll need to use another method.
You should also test to verify the fuse doesn’t have power when engine is off. Likely but not guaranteed. Also if Your undoing center console just split to cigarette wiring harness in console no fuse jumper needed
Yes all I would do is just check that a few other slots on the same line showed 12v volts and if they did that means yours are wired that way round I believe your car is a European one?
Have a look online for the workshop manual for your car or look for videos on UA-cam I couldn't physically tell you about ground points for a car if I've not seen it and checked in real life
Hi there thanks for the kind words if I started doing it for cash it would take away from the fun I get from it its different when your doing it for a customer as opposed to for yourself if you know what I mean 😁

@mikedisco thanks watching and the great feedback 😊
Did this on my mk4 golf, thank you so much man 😉
Glad it helped!
Where did you draw the power from, also trying on my mk4 but don't know where to connect the ground
2:36 it seems as though the red wire is power, and the black is ground. Is this correct? If so, how can you tell?
Yes the red is the power and black is ground it's a common know fact in engineering when it comes to colours used if you want to check you can test it using a multimeter
Is it possible to wire it to the cigarette lighter power source instead of the fuse panel, just it seems too complicated for me and I don't have all the tools, in case there's a short it would fry the cigarette lighter fuse right?
It is possible to wire it to the cigarette but safety wise it is not a wise decision and I wouldn't recommend it
I think you meant just plug it straight into the cigg lighter?
@mikedisco that's works
How did you decide what size fuse to install to run the led strip lights? And what size was it?
I knew what my power usage is and the voltage the kit uses from that I could then calculate the current its simple the formula for is Current = P (Watts) ÷ V (Voltage) hope that helps. If I remember correctly it was a 1 amp fuse have a look in the description I put all the items used in there :)
Hi brilliant video!! How do u turn of the rainbow welcome when starting your car
Mine don't have that for yours check the app
Yo love this video but i have a question i cut my cigarette lighter off and stripped the wire but i have 4 wires red, black, green, and whitw
Sounds like the manufacturer of the ones you picked up has a different wiring configuration that's unusual shouldn't have that many different wires in there that makes the job a lot harder for you and without the wiring diagram from the supplier its a no go easiest thing to do is pick up a new set
Use red and black... green and white is your data positive and negative.
Excellent video!!
Thank you very much!
Hi,
My earth is too far away to strip only a bit of the casing so would I need to strip the casing as far as needed to expose the earth wire and then cut off the excess red wire that isn't needed? And is it okay to have the earth way which is thin exposed. Should I just wrap it up with some casing or something? Would appreciate any help hugely.
It's fine to adjust the red wire to the size that you need it and then expose the earth I'd wrap it with insulation after but if you don't have that electrical tape will do never leave wires uninsulated
I’m having the issue where my LED stays on. I have it in the radio fuse but with the car completely off the lights stay on?
The ones I had in my old car did but from time to time if I disconnected the battery they'd forget a good set will be what your looking for
Very good video. thanks!.
Thanks for the feedback 😊
Great video! Just a quick question, do I need to have a reader to check the volts? I have a fuse checker which lights up so I could still see which side has the power and which doesn’t but not the readings. Would this be an issue?
No you don't need a multimeter it's possible to figure out which slots come on with the ignition and which don't without any gadgets 😁
do they come on with ignition on your chosen colour or do you still have to use remote to turn them on !!
The ones I have do some might not all depends on how they're programmed by the supplier
perfect! Thank you! No more mickey mousing it into the dome light like I did when I had my first car lol
No mickey mousing no more glad it worked well for you bro 😆
Can we connect the wires to cigarette lighter cables with fuse?
You can but its not a good idea and will fail and end up causing a fire
what if I use a fuse?
doing this job on a 2019 puegot 208 and was wondering is the process the same as the fuse box is slightly different and a bit more compact
Hi the wiring principles will be exactly the same the fusebox might however be in a different place and your earth might not be the same bolt and maybe another bolt or screw 😀
@@The_journeyy will the earth bolt be something like a bolt that bolts the door to the car or anything metal in the car?
how did you know what size fuse? 5amp? 2 amp?
I'm an electronics engineer by trade if your trying to calculate yours here is the formula for what fuse rating you need the formula Current (Amps) = Watts / Voltage on your lights if you look at the label it will tell you the watts of your product and the voltage it requires and you can then work out the fuse to use hope that helps 😀
My lights are 18w, so with 12V power that’s an amperage of 1.5A. Will using a 5 amp like you did be ok or do I have to buy a 1.5 amp?
Could you wire this up to the interior reading light so they come on when the door is opened?
Yeah its possible I'd check before adding them to that circuit that the extra load your adding to that circuit isn't going to overload it
Bro where you at, plz come and help me put up ambient lighting in my car. You done a neat job 👍🏻
Yes you need to use a fuse in the future adapter for the lights no fuse means possible fire if those lights get faulty 😁
Let's say I wanted to extend the long side for a more clean install in the rear door panels would there be any issue with me cutting and adding some wire to extend the leds farther back to go through the door harness?
I can't see any issues with that I'd just make sure I get the same gauge wire to extend it with hope that helps 😊
great tutorial, thanks bud. channel is looking great. subscribed for more so keep going and best of luck. great speaking voice too.
Hello Over and out thanks for the feedback about the channel and support I've got a lot more content coming and I hope its going to get much better over time 😊

@@The_journeyy looking forward to it.
Thanks bro massive help!!!
Thanks for watching 👏
Do I have to mess with all the wiring or could I just use my cigaret charger to plug get the lights to light up
You can use the cigarette lighter but its not the correct way to do it and it could potentially fry the lights/cause them to misfunction or potentially cause a fire hope that helps
I tried installing this aswell in the same car you have but unfortunately I can’t fit the lighting in the little gaps how did you do this? If I try it while pushing hard the plastic on the light will bend and not go in…
Hey Fluxy98 I had the same issue when I first started trying to install mine especially whilst the panel was attached to the car door I believe the gap that's there is tiny and completely seals up when the door card is on
I discovered it by accident when my door card was off if you push on the top of the door card a little it exposes the area after that you don't need to push on it just slide the fibre in.
Any issues let me know 😊
So I've got 12V power from my car. But the led lights i got are 5V. I can't just cut the cigaretteplug off because it has a transfo in it?
If the lights are designed to work with 5V then I can't imagine they'll do well with a 12V supply into them unless there's a step down transformer in there without actually seeing them in front of me I can't say it's like answering a question blindly with too many unknown variables
What kind of app did you use for controling the lights?
The factory one provided by the supplier in the box there's a card with the name you just download it and your good to go
@@The_journeyy Thank you very much for your response! Unfortunately, this card was not included with me. However, I think I have found the app. Thanks for your nice videos, keep it up 💪🏻
That's terrible service from the supplier I'm glad you found the app and thanks for watching the video 👏
Personally I wouldn't do it because there's a risk of it playing up at some point because both items are pulling on the same load but in theory as long as the fuse your plugging into is enough for both accessories it should be fine, the headliner sounds like such a good shout I bet it looks so good
Can you just use trial and error if you don’t have a multimeter or would you trip something?
Its possible to use trial and error when checking for a spare fuse slot that comes on with the ignition
@@The_journeyy nice one mate thanks. Very good video.
Thanks for the kind words 😊
Hi, I’m trying to install these in my car, I’ve done everything and when I plug into the fuse box every single fuse option lights up the lights even when my ignition is off. Could you help me please ?
Hi there Amir, its much easier to see what fuse ports are always live if you've a multimeter
If you don't have that you'll just have to try each one until you find one that doesn't stay on after your ignition goes off
When I did it in the video it only took me a second because I've a multimeter you can pick up a cheap one for between 6-10 quid online or in Halfords hope that helps mate
How do I connect the black wire to the bolt? Sorry I’m not english native so I did not understand that part
Your better off using a self drilling screws like I did than trying to remove that bolt
Find a slot that's already got another fuse that's for a none essential circuit and then use a wire tap with two slots I made a video that shows that full process on here
@The_journeyy cheers mate how will I know which fuse is a non essential circuit?
Have a look on Google for the fuse box lay out for your car it will tell you what the rows are for or the car manual I'd the choose one connected to non essentials like radio, interior lights and stay away from fuses for airbags or safety items like that 😊
@@The_journeyy cheers mate really appreciate all the help I'll have a look tomorrow
@@The_journeyy could you link me the video you made showing the full process please mate
Hi, could i wire these straight onto a leisure battery with an inline fuse? thanks
Hi I've not tried that myself but I believe these were made to be run by a car a battery. A power source is a power source however so if the source you was using was reliable and provided the power requirements required in theory you should be able to power them up whether or not the lights would last or behave properly is another question 😊
Hi or connect it so that it turns on when the car is unlocked and turns off when the car is locked? thanks
That can be done also if you know how 😊
@@The_journeyy I don't know at all, can you put it on the car radio fuse or the cigarette lighter?
@SantinoBaylac you can but it's not the correct way to do it and can cause damage to your car, the correct way is shown in the video

@@The_journeyy hi , Hi, how many amp fuses did you put in for the LEDs?
Great vid budd really appreciate the tutorial
Thank you mate I'm glad it could be of some use 😊
My car doesn't have a convenient grounding screw or bolt. What can I do for grounding?
That makes it a little harder but personally if I didn't have a convenient ground I would look for a close by ground for one of my accessories and use a t-tap wire connector to connect my cable onto that it's easy and requires very little tools have a look for videos on UA-cam for electrical grounds on your car or look on Google hope that helps if you still have any questions let me know
I cant get enough power to get the blue colored lights. I only got red and green for now :D . Any tips?
update: I connected the wires straight to the battery and I still aint getting enough power
There's something off about the way your wiring it or you've got a defective slot your tapping into tell me more about your wiring so I can get an idea of what might be the issue
Could I put a switch in to use to turn them on and off? Where would I put it?
It's possible that you could put a switch but it would be a lot more hassle than I would say its worth have a look online for ideas of location 😊
I like the routing the rear wires under the door trim that's a good idea
Another thing is you don’t need to hard wire it straight away if you don’t have the tools atm as long as you’ve fit everything properly in terms of hiding cables nd routing it bring the 12V charger to driver side nd when u have the tools you can hardwire without needing to take everything apart but may vary dependin on ur brand of light
😊
Is there any problem if I use a 15 amp fuse?? Im trying it and it doesn't work, I've checked the voltage and everything is right, I don't know whats wrong
Yeah there is it won't be safe and if something goes wrong with your lights that fuse will allow a fire to happen before it does anything you need the correct fuse for the power usage your using try a 5amp that will work :)
@@The_journeyy ok thanks man Ill try
Awesome bro I will look forward to hearing how good your footwell lights look 🔥
Would it also work to tap into the acc fuse? I was thinking of doing that with mine because I would like them to turn whenever your key is in the acc position or whenever you turnover you vehicle to start it and I would also like to them turn off automatically when you turn off your vehicle. It is starting to get annoying to turn off and on in the 12v outlet lol
It's possible to do it you just have to figure out what circuit that's on and go from there 😊
@@The_journeyy So basically I could find a empty relay spot, like a 5 or 10 and see if that would work or not?
I've never done it that way I'd have to look it up to see I personally just use the cars fuse boxes or a tap on a circuit that can handle an additional load. I'd have to look into that
What about on a seat ibiza
It's a vag group car I don't see any reason why you couldn't install it. I've not owned one yet but I'm pretty sure the installation would be pretty much the same the fuse box might just be in a different place but the principles the same hope that helps 😊
Could you hardwire them to the car headlight switch so they turn on when you turn on your headlights?
Its possible to do that its called piggy backing
When I fit mine ,iam going to see which if any spare or fuse (to use a piggy back) is powered when my light (auto) turn on, failing that I will wire to a spare ign on fuse.
Hi. I acidentally bought LED strips with USB connection, is it possible to hardwire it aswell?
It's a USB the wiring for that will be different so I have no idea it's most likely possible but if I was you I'd just order the proper one
Easiest way is you'd have to jerry rig into the light switch which is not stuff I'd do personally do due to my background with wiring but you'll find a good amount of people doing it here. There is a proper way to do it but it's more work thanks for the idea I might make a video on it in the future 😀

Thanks much. That helped
Hello Unni I'm glad it helped 😊
I know this is a supper old video idk if your gonna respond but is there a reason my lights don’t turn of when I turn off the car I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze
If your referring to these type of lights yes. If your lights don't turn off its because they've been wired up to a part of the car that doesn't turn off when the ignition goes off some circuits in the car stay on but they use a very low amount of voltage connecting these lights to that can drain your battery
My lights are wired up to a spare ignition fuse which when the ignition is off no power runs to them hope that helps 😊

Its hard for me to answer your question without seeing your setup but judging by what you've said your wiring is not done like mine
I didn't want wire up to an interior light which from what you've said is what you've done? I wired up mine using a fuse adapter to a spare fuse slot on the car that comes on and off with the ignition being turned on
With the way yours is wired because they're always on they can drain your battery If your trying to wire up to the interior light of your car you'll need to use another method.
Oooooooo colours go brrr
Colours go any colour 😲
Check out the following video showing how to install AMBIENT lighting ua-cam.com/video/vszjoGkST14/v-deo.html
You should also test to verify the fuse doesn’t have power when engine is off. Likely but not guaranteed. Also if
Your undoing center console just split to cigarette wiring harness in console no fuse jumper needed
😊
If I’m getting 12v at the top of the fuse slot instead of at the bottom like in the video do I simply flip the way that I insert the fuse adapter
Yes all I would do is just check that a few other slots on the same line showed 12v volts and if they did that means yours are wired that way round I believe your car is a European one?
Good idea for those who are noobs
