Have you ever played punk rock for hundreds of people cuz I have.
I was at this. Twas a great time. Krist walked by me in his way to the stage and smiled and pointed at my shirt (was wearing the shirt with Nirvana's first hand drawn gig poster on it). Lots of people hating on this and I sort of get why, but honestly I still liked it. I feel there was nothing but good intentions here, despite it feeling a bit weird. I have a hard time trying to understand what something like this does to Krist, though. Being an amicable guy and all, it’s not that surprising to see him doing it, but it has to be somewhat painful every time he plays a Nirvana song live. Still love him for who he is and for being cool enough to do it, but I can only imagine he would feel a lot more comfortable playing any other material at this point.
Fantastic to see the singer gleefully fling himself into the crowd, giving it all he has, and bringing out huge, festival sized fun to the already classic song. With Krist looking like hes really enjoying himself, I can only wonder too, if during performances like this, how things might have been had Kurt stuck around, and Nirvana themselves returned fully recharged and rid of anything that had otherwised ended it all so horribly. Id imagine things like that running understandably thru' Krists mind as he played the song to a joyous audience and band like that, think how things could have been with a new Nirvana, rejuvenated Kurt loving it all up there in the present day, and in the outside world as he deserved to. Happy Birthday Nevermind.
If Kurt could have found a new sense of self and healed it would have an echo through the alternative culture. The deaths of Grunge musicians has left the genre fairly haunted.
@@te9591 Yeah, I agree. Not a nice feeling knowing that, most of the initial musical heroes of my life from the early 90s are not here now. When I see Dave Grohl have so much deserved fun and enjoyment with his life since Foo Fighters fought him back to life in music, it makes me imagine and wonder to myself how again, a renewed , revived Kurt could have lived and played on. I dont necessary think that, Nirvana were only destined to punk roots regarding playing just clubs, keeping an underground aesthetic. In a alternate reality Id love the idea of him up there on the stage, big or small, giving it his all and having a brilliant time today, like what we see here in the video. Letting more of that fun, zany side to him seen in Nevermind's very early days come to full, and just in general , having him around still playing and enjoying life would have been fucking brilliant. All covers of Nirvana, and lead singers like this, only demonstrate how unique and awesome Cobain was. Anyone else leading that band and the songs become a bit ridiculous.
