  • Maersk to Invest $600 Million to Expand Nigeria's Lagos Port | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, to attend the special session of the World Economic Forum. Tinubu met with Maersk chair Robert Maersk Uggla on the sidelines on the forum. Maersk has announced that it will invest an additional $600 million in Nigeria. This is on top of its existing $2 Billion investment in the country. Maersk plans to expand the infrastructure at the Lagos port complex. Both Tinubu and Maersk's chair want bigger ships to be able to dock in Lagos. Nigeria is Africa's most populous country, and therefore it is a growing market for all types of goods. Maersk wants to capitalise on that demographic dividend, and its willing to put money on Nigeria's future prospects.

This will cause Lagos roads to be more jammed with heavy traffics.
Nigeria has many other ports, the president should should also focus on revitalizing developing those ports (it will ease the burden of business flow from/in Lagos and bring business equity and decentralization in Nigeria).

The news is fake. Maersk denounced the news of the million-dollar deal. Fact check this reply I have. It was a propaganda by tinubu after destroying a 200 million dollar igbo citizens landmark beach in Lagos. Pls no deal with the Danish shipping mogul. This is just like when they said last year that tinibu secured investment plan with UAE. All was dispel by the nations involved
