this girls hair is not matted. I have had matted hair before, sadly, and this is not it. great tips on how to detangle hair, but this girls hair is far from matted. just tangled throughout.

Thank you SO much for this video! My hair got a bit tangled and i didnt have the patience to brush it. With each day it got worse and less and less stamina to face dealing with it. I stuck a hat on my head and didnt take out the bun underneath even in the shower! so now 3 weeks later my loooong straight and usually silky hair is so matted that i cant even divide it into sections! it's just one big mass of hair all intertwined like a nest.
Your video not only provided a solution and a pain free technique, it also comforted me to discover that i'm not the only one to have gotten myself into this crazy situation! i was beginning to think i may have real problems - and i dont just mean my knots!
I am very proud to say that after watching your video i went straight into the bathroom with my water spray, hair cream and my tangle teezer (which i actually bought for my kids!) and here I am 1 hour later with my beautiful long straight shiny hair restored! Thank you for giving me the courage and motivation to face it! Never again shall i neglect my hair like this, i will treat it with the love and respect and appreciation it deserves! Thanks for everything =)

Latrice Mitchell I feel you, how is her hair "matted"? IT may be tangled, but it's not matted up. I've seen people with straight hair that have more matted up hair than that.
To me when someone says their hair is "matted' I'm thinking EXTREMELY tangled.

+Rachel Williams agreed. my cousin let her hair get all matted by washing her hair and throwing a wig on and never finger detangling or combing or anything! like she actually had entire locked portions of hair. it took literally all day but i got all the tangles out with some serious finger detangling, nearly 2 bottles of conditioner, and suprisingly enough those oily serum heat protectants were a serious life saver.

My mum is from the uk and my dad is from the Caribbean and my hair gets so tangly. For the last 3 days I felt extremely sick so I just stayed in bed those 3 days.
My hair was in a bun and today I looked at my hair and it was matted so much it looked like a nest.
I literally just got out of the shower and i detangled it and it feels 10 X lighter 😂

Thanks so much for watching! If she gets one, tell her when cleaning the hair out of the bristles... use a regular brush (I use one with boar bristles) and brush it over the top of the Tangle Teezer to pull the hairs up... I found that way easier than trying to pick the shed hair out with my fingers. Have a wonderful week! Can't believe it is already JUNE!!! :)

Maybe its just me, but i've known so many salon dependent women who couldn't do their own hair cause Mama always used to do it. You're Mothers a wonderful teacher so I hope you're taking full advantage of lessons. Best wishes & bless you both.... Especially such a wonderful Mother's nurturing hands.

My daughter's oldest child is bi-racial, so she has hair very similar to your daughters. I'm going to send this video to my daughter. Thank you so very much. My daughter uses a comb and I feel it tears my granddaughters hair. Do you feel the tangle teaser is better than a comb then? I feel like her hair is very fragile. I took the plastic top off the Tangle teaser cause I couldn't stand the sound. The sound goes away if you do that. Thank you so very much. Love, Melissa

    • @bawaits
      @bawaits  10 років тому +9

Hey Melissa! I think the Tangle Teaser is much better at detangling than using a comb because it detangles hair easily while removing normal shed hair... no excess breaking or pulling. My younger daughter is tender-headed (just like me), and we both love it. I believe it works best when some water and conditioner are applied to the hair before starting the detangling process. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have... and thanks for posting! LOVE your channel-- Have an amazing week!

Saturate with water and a conditioner with nice slip-- then, use your fingers to gently pull the matte apart as much as you can... once that is done, use a tangle teezer to continue to detangle and smooth.

that tangle teaser seems like a small tooth comb!! usually once i damp my hair work some leave in and oil in it finger stretch it..it will be pretty detangled before the comb. the teaser just seems lik an unnecessary step.

man I need help..my kid has my hubby's hair..I don't know how to upkeep. my 8 yrs old won't even let me finger her hair so close to scalp. she is more tender headed than I was..my mama use to hit me over my head with a wooden brush..my mama white I am mixed.she would bitch about me squirming around and such..I know she would never b able to my kids hair. matter fact when she watched her back when she was 2 and her hair was easy to do..I came back and her hair was ratted either lint knots and she didn't even bath my kid..WITCH! she only did my twins which have my hair..
.I at lease try to find help and put in some hrs for my 8 yr old.but I don't know what to do .she basically got a dread lock ( sp) cause my hubby jus brushed the baby hairs down and re put the rubberband back in a pony tail for a week while I was sick. its basically matted in the middle of pony tail and worse yet its close to scalp..I got ends mostly clear..I can't even break anything apart to braid it..she keeps crying I worked on it for 1.5hrs last night but I feel it wonton come out ever..lucky if it will take weeks and it hurts my arms and fingers. I am using spray bottle and conditioner. I do have her in a style where u can't tell but I wanna work on it everynight.

i have been looking for videos all nights of something that would look similar to my daughter's hair and the situation we got going every morning! she is mixed yet her hair is pretty course like your daughter's. my problem is she screams if I literally comb her hair at all or put any muscle into it and its enough to drive me crazy! I def need a tangle teaser but any other products you recommend for quick easy morning routine? I get confused because they say not to wash her hair a lot yet a lot of these tutorials show after their hair has been washed. there is no way we can wash her hair every am before school so what? just wet it like that? that is what I have been doing and then gently combing it out but not getting all the knots by any means! thanks again and any input would be great!

Hi Laura! Thanks for posting your question. I havea couple of questions... How many ponytails do you usually style your daughter's hair in each morning, and what current leave-in products do you use (if any)?

+BA Waits I'm embarrassed to say we don't have a good routine down and i don't know what he dad does when he has her. We all need to get on the same page. I will either leave it down or put it in one pony. I use a water bottle , comb and Shea moisture cream or just for me milk cream or something like that. Or coconut oil. I just ordered the tangle brush from Amazon. I also rarely wash her hair so not sure how often to do that .

It is very important that you keep her hair moisturized and then seal in the moisture with an oil. So, let's say it is wash day.... and you have cleansed and conditioned her hair... while it is wet, I would suggest you put a leave-in conditioner in her hair (I like the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream)... I use about a quarter size amount in each section 4 sections) and brush through with the tangle teaser. Next, I apply oil to each section (you can use coconut oil, jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil, or whatever natural oil you like).... adjust the amount of oil according to the thickness and texture of her hair... Then you can plait her hair and allow it to air dry. Once it is dry, it is ready to style.... When you take her hair down, the waves are set from the plaits, so you don't want to comb through those bottom parts of her hair.... but smooth down her edges (and perhaps apply a bit of gel if they have a tendency to stick up).... I like the Eco Styler gel with argan oil in the yellow container.... When she gets home from school... be sure to take a water bottle and lightly mist her hair, seal in the moisture with the oil of your choice.... detangle (with the Tangle Teaser) and replait... This should not take long because her hair was just detangled the night before. If you do this... in the mornings, you will simply take her plaits down and style the hair in a ponytail, bun, etc... This method will keep the roots from getting matted and tangled.... and styling should only take a few minutes each morning... Once a week... cleanse and condition and start the process over.
I hope this helps.... please feel free to ask any additional questions if you have them. Thanks again for posting. 😀

Thank you for your explain, may be there are a little difference between China and US when we maintain hair.Because in China, the ladies wash hair at least twice at a time, and wash the hair at least twice a week, there is the method of basic maintain, when washing your hair, firstly ,use the shampoo to clean the hair.Secondly, put hair condition on head ,wait for 5 minutes ,let the condition soak hair, then clean it .Thirdly.let the hair air dry until the hair still be a little wet, then apply some argan oil on hair ,so the hair will be smoother and shinier.

Try this method: Get a spray bottle, pour 1/2 cup aloe vera Juice, 1/2 cup of Lusters s-curl no drip . Spray in your hair and Let it soak. Use a detangler comb/Brush. Proceed to comb through. Optional: add Ifusium 21 leave in to the spray bottle and 4 cáps of apple cider vinegar. Your hair will be easier to detangle trust me lol! Hope this helps :)

Oh no.. You shouldn’t really use that type of brush to de-tangle your daughter hair. It makes it more painful for her. You should just use the actual comb like with the handle and everything. It makes it less painful because those types of brushes just pull on the hair.
