I work in a building next to the Hotel in the movie - I was completely amazed how accurate they depicted the layout of the area, almost 100% of the Vienna scene works out layoutwise, when one person leaves the the frame and gets seen in another one - it is possible in real life to move from the first place to the second. Of course this stays unknown to probably 99.99% of all viewers - but I had to take a single of for that.
@@Theonespoons Majority of "unbroken shots" in films are like that. They always use clever tricks to obscure the cuts. If you know what to look for, it's relatively easy to find.
@@Theonespoons that’s similar to the movie Birdman and even the Hitchcock classic Rope, edited and shot to look like it was done in one shot. Tbf, I would posit that Rope WAS done with one shot, though, as it was done with film (the movie came out in 1948, and was Hitchcock’s first color movie, and also his first with Jimmy Stewart!), meaning that reels had to be changed. Their workaround was to zoom in on a characters back, so that they could pause production so as to change the feel, whence they’d then zoom out and continue filming. If never you’ve seen Rope, I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you like Hitchcock!
Unbroken shots, like the prison break/car chase/ train ride scene, i really enjoy since it helps to give perspective to where each character is at a certain point as apposed to jumping from each one with no clue where they are in relation to each other.
Hemsworth is so much better when he’s in action mode rather than “cOMedY.” I have no doubt he’s a charming humorous guy but Ghostbusters and the last two appearances of Thor in the MCU just felt like no one wanted to hurt his feelings by telling him he wasn’t that funny. He CAN be funny with the right role, but he’s way better in films like this
I’m glad someone else realizes this…. Last few Thor movies have been basically just unfunny comedies and it really took away from how good the movies could’ve been
I met the actor from this film back in June, and he seemed really cool. I had already seen the "Extraction" movies beforehand, and while I wasn't the biggest fan of them, I could definitely appreciate the choreography and dedication involved in both of these movies. As far as action movies go, "Extraction" and its sequel are really well-shot and well-paced, including all of the incredible one-take sequences.
I miss the time when the shot @1:20 was considered a sin, since you can clearly see they used to different shots and the pitchfork should only be bloodied with the 2 middle prongs.
Agreed. JW4 is way too long, stupid and cartoony for my tastes. They've basically turned that franchise into a joke and sorry but I'm not on board with that at all.
The one thing about this movie that I can't harp on enough is that you must ALWAYS make sure the action is in camera and easy for people to watch. Once that's done, you don't have to give the viewer the job of trying to decipher what happened. Yes, I am looking at all of you shaky cam action films. Also also, for someone reason until this 2nd film I never noticed how ridiculously beautiful the actress who plays Nik is. WOW!🙏
@@abelingaw5070 the Bourne films definitely had a good use for it although even then I can't deny the Bourne stuff is not all that great but Damon sells it well.

The one part that pissed me off in this film was when Zurab shot Rake in the center of his hand with a 45 ACP from 5 ft away while that hand was clutching the bar with his entire body weight (plus kit) and he didn’t even slip an inch. That shot would have broken every bone in that hand and he woulda lost all functionality; he would have absolutely lost the ability to hold the bar. And even if that didn’t happen, he couldn’t just wrap it three hours later and be ready to rock... He’d need a half-dozen surgeries and a year of rehab to MAYBE regain full use. Those kind of things don’t bother me with most action movies, but this franchise does such a good job in so many ways when it comes to weapons, tactics, fighting, etc, so I hold it to a higher standard... If it was an 80s Arnold or Sly flick I wouldn’t have cared.
@@quannguyenle9775I don’t recall exactly what type of glove he had on, but I’ve been in the military my entire adult life and I have NEVER heard of bullet-proof gloves… There are burn-proof gloves, mechanics gloves, impact gloves, shooting gloves, etc, but nothing that could possible stop a close-range 45 ACP. MAYBE, there’s some material made of like nano technology that would cost $10000 per pair, but definitely nothing that would be easily available, even for a merc… I’m sure some of the better gloves could do a lot protect one’s hand from some debris and shit, depending on a few circumstances, but I’m gonna say there is any glove that stop that type of round. And even if there was, there is no GD way he’s holding onto that bar or using that hand later that day.
You left out the scene where they shoot the rifle from a distance but hear the sound first, then the impact of the bullet next to Tyler. It's the other way around, bullet hits first, then you hear the sound (if you survive).

the movie is fun and all, if you dont take reality too seriously, but that; 6:00 hiding behind a ladder from machinegun fire, took me straight ouf of the film..
I kinda wished they followed up with his character being one of those immortal guys from that Charlize Theron movie... would have had no need for the "we did extensive life-saving surgery in a helicopter ride" scene...
They needed to show how he survived, because he showed up at the end of the first one, what they needed to do though, was actually show that scene from his perspective in the 2nd one lol
Sandro's and Zurab's behavior makes no sense in OUR cultural reference, but in the context of their culture's outlook on masculinity, it makes perfect sense.
Zurab, maybe. Sandro is just a waste of human cells no matter how you look at it. An indecisive, weak, backstabbing, incompetent, snivelling coward. I think they went too on the nose in just making him as revolting as possible. Even to the point of hiring Sid from Ice Age as the actor apparently.
I quite enjoyed my time with this, but I got to admit the prospect of turning this character into some franchise hero for future movies is really lessening my interest. It was already enough to buy him making it for a sequel, but now this one is outright saying "Yeah don't worry, you're never gonna have to worry about anything seriously harming you again as long you're a viable streaming draw."

That unbroken shot starting in the prison break scene alone should’ve garnered this movie an academy award nomination.
