There are some inaccuracies and oversights in this video.
- The weirdness of Bernard finishing Strand's sentence probably means that that scene is actually of Bernard remembering being on the beach with Strand, not actually being on the beach with Strand
- Ghost Nation seem to be abducting humans to protect them from Dolores
Shut up nerd!!
@@AltSchwiftX I think you'll have a lot of fun with Season 3. I only watched the first episode but fuck man... Why do they do this to shows? I won't be watching anymore of those episodes. It should have ended in Season 1.

@@deedd4401 I didn't care about the cowboys, I cared about the philosophical stuff. Now it's more like riddles than philosophy. The first season was very good and made you really think about what it meant to be human. What does it take for a human replica to become human? But then they started telling the story of the replica humans that I didn't give a fuck about and that turned me off. I'd rather hear about how they were built and the nature of their existence.
Wow this is an hour long video of the game of thrones guy being pissed, instead of analytical with his deep slow voice. Love it.
Wish he did a rant like this for season 7 and 8 of thrones

Season 1 is one of my favorite seasons of television ever, and I’ve watched it multiple times. I still have no clue what happened in season 2
I couldn’t bring myself to finish season 2
i suggest u find the chronological version and download it.. its helps u A LOT
@paula Then you missed a lot of amazing moments. The music, the secret multiple timelines, the aesthetic and architecture of the buildings, Anthony friggin Hopkins. The show has a ton of biblical references and poses a lot of philosophical questions. Season 1 is a masterpiece, if ya don't like it then it's just not the show for you, it doesn't make it overhyped. Ya just dont get it lol
Season 2 its not bad for me but the 1 is masterpiece. Top 3 of list Tv show!

Alexander Supertramp Akecheta is the best leader for hosts... honestly I wish he would be the protagonist instead of Dolores. She’s a villain
It was definitely the best episode of the season, maybe even of the series'...
my favorite episode of all the seasons
Excellent video, but why is the first half using footage from the show, then the second half features Old Man Delos dancing for 30 minutes?
Copyright issues. Part 1 and part 2 were initially uploaded as separate videos, and IIRC part 1 was de-monitized.
Lol
I was still in the first half, could’ve sworn this was made up
I thought this was a shitpost until I got to that part lmao
Aww so sad. The footage really helped me recap which part he was refering to. That and an old man gyrating distracted me so many times i forgot how many times i rewinded lol

This dropped 30 seconds after I saw the s3 trailer lol
Need one of this for season 3. I really loved the first season but each season gets harder to watch, plots make no sense, characters grow but they are brought back to what they were for no reason, etc.. What was a show about the intricacies of the human mind and what it means to be human, has devolved to generic, jj Abrahams-esque, sci-fi without a meaning nor reflection.
Not at all. S2 was great for me. S3 was good too. Everything seemed like a logical progression
The forbidden meme returns
The main reason Season 2 was so awful was they rewrote many of the episodes as the series was coming out. Jonathan Nolan was actually quoted that they read fan theories on reddit, and when they got the big twist for episode 3 they had to rewrite it; as though its Westworld's job to outwit reddit. So they screwed up their entire narrative because they just had to fool people. Huge disappointment for Season 2. Hope they don't do that in S3.
why are the only hosts that got to be "saved with the sublime were from one park you think that every park would have been given the chance
Thank you so much. Easily one of my favorite videos on YT. Never stop doing what you do.
that first part with Delores and Bernard is in the future after the flood, hes actually naked and she isn't wearing that dress as seen in the last episode, but his perception makes it so he doesn't realise he's naked. she recreated him at his old home, then he walks up the steps and walks outside.
How you haven’t done one for GoT seasons 7 and 8, is beyond me...
Its not worth his time tbh
Its also universally accepted that the show is garbage after the last 2 seasons so why would he rant about it when countless of people has already done it?
Seriously!!
On the Lam because they suck and aren’t worth it.
or for seasons 5 and 6
I think it'd be great if he did, because even though there are some good videos doing it, I don't think anyone would be able to do it better than Shwift
listening to this rant halfway through season 3 is pretty hillarious
Season 1 was one of the best shows of all time. Season 2 tried too hard to be unconventional and it just hurt the show in the end.
Anyway, I don’t think Dolores is suppose to be the protagonist in S2. She’s the antagonist, and Maeve is the protagonist to oppose her.
KrzyWasabi Ford literally explains this in season 1 when he talks about his new storyline featuring the antagonists Wyatt who is Dolores.
and season 3 was pretty simple and boring
YO! Didn't realize this wasn't the main channel and was like FINALLY MY DUDE IS BEING REAL. Now I know there is a channel that has possibly more smart rants. FIRE.
Unblocking this is the weirdest marketing for a show I have ever seen
I was just pkndering that lol
yes
I’m rewatching this now. The scenes with Bernard at the beginning of S 2 actually takes place after Dolores leaves WW, after she recreates herself in her own body. The dream about being on shore and the inconsistencies are part of Dolores re-imaging Bernard like she did she created him, it;s about fidelity ...not that there aren’t writing problems and inconsistencies. I don’t think at the end of the season you realize what is happening at the beginning of how the whole season is a loop
This was literally the only explanation to why Bernard was able to 'dream' of the shore. So I dont know why he was ranting about it
How are you rewatching it if it just came out today? Are you stuck in some sort of fidelity test loop? Is this now? Was season 2 trash? Yes it was.
would have been nice if the show coherently relayed that informati...oh wait
Julian Duran I meant the og show using the power of an HBO subscription as S3 is gonna roll out fairly soon. If you meant this video, I did re-watch this rant maybe 3-r months back though... this is a re-upload. After s2 ended Alt released this rant in 2 parts, which is why it has a part 1 and 2, and why Daddy Delos is dancing throughout part 2 (second video got flagged for copyright for footage for some reason so Alt re-uploaded his rant with that footage). I’m wagering this WW rant was re-uploaded and linked togheter because the S3 dropped today and I imagine Alt wants to get those sweet algorithm views (which is cool, can’t knock the hustle). Does S2 have its problems, sure, but I didn’t hate it. I enjoy Alt’s videos, been following him for a long time... I do think he watched this season with the pressure of having to review it as soon as it ended and didn’t give himself the luxury to slow down and mull over what happened though. Just because the show isn’t perfect doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the ride
@@SaraAdrian Right, Alt was just so pressured to get his rant out that he waited nearly AN ENTIRE MONTH after the final episode to post his reaction....because he was thirsty for those views. 2 seconds of research makes your entire post out to be mindless drivel, just because someone you follow doesn't agree with you on one topic doesn't make their opinion invalid nor does it need to be belittled by accusations of said person basically speedwatching the series. Accept that there was a different opinion presented and respect it. If you can't do that, then just agree to disagree and move on like a rational person.
James Delos dancing like me when im on Crack was the highlight of the video for me
i'm just arriving.
the difference in effort between the first and second halfs of the rant video editing-wise is absolutely hysterical.
Westworld season 2 was just a basic story told non-linearly to add “Depth”
Which made it 100 times better for me
ARN Yh because without it the story is just people walking from place to place and repeating themselves
Season 2 is a complete nonsense no matter how you rearrange the scenes.
So? You can say the exact same thing about any movie with nonlinear storytelling.
@@YourBlackLocal Season 1 was better on the whole, season 2 had better stand alone episodes. I was saying before season 2 ended that the park is limiting them and they need to get out the park. So now they are in season 3 Im very interested to see what they do.

I would listen to an hour of this guy ranting about every season of nearly anything...and keep old man delos. I like it
Personally, I thought the Ghost Nation was sort of built in redundancy for if the other hosts do malfunction, gain sentience, etc. and began attacking and harming or killing the Guests. If the Guests can't get them to cease motor functions or can't get out of the park on their own, Ghost Nation would be there to defend them from the other Rogue Hosts and then get them to safety by depositing them at the nearest exit. It has to do with the fact that their pictures, carvings, even toys, bear the likeness of technicians and we're told that they revere them as spirits/ gods. When faced with seeing their gods killed, the programming (maybe instinct) kicks in. It would be doubtful that the freed Hosts - even Dolores - would be aware of this connection due to the Ghost Nation's secluded way of life; plus, those who regain all the knowledge of their previous "lives" would have seen them in the Delos complex being refurbished just like they are, so there are plenty of reasons as to why they wouldn't be suspicious of them. And yes, there are definitely some issues with this like, why wouldn't they be effected like the other hosts. If this was due to having a different programing/ operating system, then why not use the same one for the other Hosts to prevent them breaking free? But I still think that it would have made for a better story and could easily explain why they were capturing Guests (see above) and why they kept them close (easier to protect that way.).
Good headcanon. You should've been on the writing staff.
I loved this video. So many times I was not sure if I missed something because I usually watched while nursing a

Yaaaaaaa, finally, the full and true version of this video! So glad to see it
ive been waiting for this video a long time
Yea season 2 wasnt as brilliant as it thought it was. And that speech what's his face makes before he dies is so cringe.
"let this be a lesson. The lesson is-"
I mean it's supposed to be silly. It's an over the top villain speech written for Hector during a robbery, it was more about the character going from a cynical douchebag to someone giving their life to help the hosts
The scenes with Dolores and Bernard are post Episode 10 in the real world. They reveal that in episode 10 when it pans and her clothes change.
Season 1 was the entire show. A contained narrative with twists and turns. The rest is just capitalizing on a popular idea. Ultimately it will end like LOST in a purgatory fountain of youth.
Thank god someone noticed season 2 was a massive drop off
it wasn't. It had some slow moments, but still solid
@@AverageAlien it’s not that is was “slow” it was wildly inconsistent. Got pretty sick of them saying “humans cant change they’re inherently evil” in 50 different ways every episode, we should be able to understand that without Bernard repeating it every 2 seconds

Season 2 was designed as a big fat fuck you to all the fans who 'figured it out' in season 1.
Like the people running the show took it personally that some of us were able to put together all the threads and see what was going on, so they went out of their way to make that completely 100% impossible in season 2.
Not realizing that the fact we could even do that at all in season 1 was proof their storytelling was top notch. Season 2 sucks.
The problem with Robert's game being some sort of redemption quest for William, is that Robert himself is a cruel mass murderer. It doesn't make any sense for a sociopath like Robert to send William on some journey of personal growth.
Robert cares about his creations... he's an egotist in love with his creations. He has more time for his robots, especially Maeve, than actual humans. He's certainly not interested in William, other than as an opponent.
(FWIW, Robert's motivations are confused. The writing team have not always been on the same page.)
Amen. To all of it. All that you said that was good and what was bad. Preach on.
I love the "free style" format / feel of this all.
I'm kind of fine with the confusing timeline because it does make sense once it's explained. There are still a lot of inexplicable plot points like you point out, but I'm okay with forgiving some of them. My biggest issue is the character assassinations and lack of general direction. Season 2 Dolores suddenly becomes a completely uninteresting edgelord with cringeworthy stiff dialogue, and Maeve receives much of the same treatment. The story also meanders off in random directions like with Samurai World, which ends up having literally no baring whatsoever on the greater plot. Still, it had two or three really amazing episodes. It's just a shame it couldn't live up to Season 1.
Hopefully Season 3 gets back on track, because if it doesn't improve I'm afraid I'm done with the show.
Skyclad Observer I think the writers rushed through season 2 because they’re so excited for the infiltration season
dude the show is trying to explain the nature of humans and it's trying to show us that maybe hosts are the next step in the evolution and that the humans are irredeemable. Season 2 is such a beast and almost as great as season 1. Try to go watch season 1 again you will understand that your criticism here is wrong. Earlier you had no clue what was going on and the world was building but now the world is unfolding and its much and more what you could have imagined. I really don't understand how explaining their motivations, their character is "Meandering off". like waht?
Ashutosh Bansal wouldn’t that make all the characters including the hosts who use others/hosts irredeemable as well? Seems flat to me.
They’re only currently inexplicable. The series isn’t over...
@@tranzfixuationtisk3683 i like Dolores as a terminator. Seems like a logical progression of charecter, shes a killer robot not a sweet farm girl waiting for someone to save her
Season 1 was a lot of fun, and the stuff you're talking about is why I bailed out on the show by the time season 2 wrapped up.
Oh yeah, here we go again, folks - about the fifth time watching this, but now it's the Director's Cut!
The object of the game is to keep consumer's eyes on it for as long as possible. Violence, sex, nudity, etc. the usual always work. At least there are lots of jobs for actors, writers, artists, etc. in Hollywood.
Okay so, I'm completely fucking obsessed with this show, and love both seasons, despite Season 1 being obviously better and season 2 having a myriad of issues, most of which I'm learning from you lol. And I have read a TONNNN of articles and comments, including the ones on your video, and yet somehow you are the FIRST PERSON I have EVER state out loud what I believe to be the BIGGEST flaw of the entire show. And that is...like you said, just because you duplicate my consciousness/identity with 99.9% perfection, doesn't mean that my consciousness...the ME that I experience as myself, will be automatically transferred into that. Supposing for a moment the existence of a SOUL, copying my brain doesn't automatically put my soul into that copy. It's a bit hard to put into words, but you know what i mean? I'm so surprised I don't hear more people talking about this.
Great video, btw :)
Best rant ever!
Lee's death was so, so, so stupid. He would have bought them literally ten times more time if he just let them take him in and then spun a bullshit story to keep them busy. They were totally on his side, lol.
@@Ieuan-kp5st When stupid, stupid things happen to fulfill a plot point, that's called "Contrived, bad writing."
I think that phrase unlocked something in Stubbs.
I hope you make a video like this after Dune pt 2 comes out, about both part 1 and 2
I don’t even know if the world truly deserves this glorious content, but I am motherfucking grateful!! 🙏
This is all more of a commentary on Hollywood than it is on life.
Season 3 was jusy so painful to understand and comprehend cuz nearly everything that you are like "that doesnt make sense" or "that shouldnt happen" is just excused as it was someones plan all along.
Most of Season 3 and 4 felt like a season of The 100 or some CW show, just with a much bigger budget lol… endless gunfights and swordfights and characters dying but not really dying and the protagonists beating every opponent with a faux-witty quip thrown in between punches. Once the show became about saving/ending the entire world or whatever it just had such a big scope it became meaningless. There were some promising bits in the start of S3 and especially S4, but they both turned to shit at the end. Makes S2 look almost great in comparison.
5 years from now we will all understand that these scenes make sense because the season 3 episode 1 guy was correct and this all really is a simulation within a simulation.
Season 3 is actually making me miss season 2. And I never thought I would say that. It doesn’t even feel like Westworld anymore.
thank god they canceled it!
This is satisfyingly blunt about the stupid things that season 2 contains. But it also points out some great things that season 2 does, that make it well worth watching anyway.
It is not a reasonable critique of Doloris that she is not a sympathetic protagonist, because it's clear she's not intended to be the protagonist. It's established that Arnold altered Dolores with the Wyatt aka "bad guy" narrative in season one. So in following Doloris we are following the *antagonists* origin story (season one), and rise to power (season two). The purpose of this, presumably is to create a worthy adversary to kick start some future plan that is yet to be revealed.
I loved this really cool thanks
Hollywood doesn't know how long these series will last or how many movie sequels they can make from a subject, so they don't plan ahead. This series and Star Wars 7 - 9 prove that.
Season 2 is heavily flawed and far from the masterpiece that Season 1 is, but it almost looks like a masterpiece compared to Season 3 and 4 lol. Don’t get me wrong, even those seasons had their moments and stronger episodes but it basically felt like the show turned from intelligent prestige TV into mediocre CW sci-fi action fare with a huge budget. Season 2 at least feels closer to the spirit of Season 1, and still has those really great standalone episodes like 2x04 and 2x08. But it’s a mess as a season long narrative, it feels so pointless to have this timeline trickery with Bernard when the timelines are only separated by a few days or whatever… the season really is just a big long hangover from the explosive ending of S1. Like it all takes places in such a short period and there’s so much action and death - and just poorly choreographed action sequences - that it ends up feeling aimless and inert as a season-long story. Season 1 on the other hand had great character and narrative writing, it was perfectly balanced and immersed you in this world brilliantly whereas S2 leans far too much on shoot-em-up scenes, bland monologues and filler episodes. It confuses overtly complicated narrative for clever writing when really it would’ve been so much better if it just ditched the multiple timeline stuff with Bernard.
“The Riddle of the Sphinx” was a brilliant episode though.
Your point being?
@@ryanbutterworth1845 my point was it was a good episode in an-otherwise 💩season. Not rocket science

let me sum up for people who can't afford to watch the whole hour: S2 suffers from = 1.Being a try hard attempt at being deep + 2. Missing plausible and well defined character motivations 3. Having MANY continuity errors.
nicely phrased
Maybe it actually explains why it took me two years to watch this season because I remember not being hooked by the opening episode but somehow love it now watching it in my existential angst 🗿
Watching this video helped make S3 make sense. There’s a quote that makes reference to them being in a simulation within a simulation. And now that we know about Rahoboam creating strategies for all of humanity. So Dolores knowing the future, Mave having a “new” voice- sounds like they’re manipulating the simulations.
i think dolores was just being arrogant about her vision and her plans working. she didnt literally mean that she knows the future. at this point in the story she thinks shes the only conscious host and she can therefore predict based on their personalities how each one of them would react because they are all stuck being themselves while she gets to be whoever she needs to be at any given moment. she didn't anticipate that teddy would be remembering his past and also becoming conscious and ends up disobeying her multiple times, and ultimately shooting himself.
absolutely love you
This is the one only show i watch that has plot holes like this that i forgive. I agree that its too entertaining to get that mad at it. The music, acting, and cinematography is superb, so while it’s obvious shortcomings can’t be overlooked its still a fucking blast to watch.
Its just a show to where at the end of every episode you ‘WHAAAAAAAT’
28:35 oh boy, wait to see the same reaction for season 3
Delos tries to decode the internals by studying the externals of a person - the behaviour.
Since they [SPOILERS] have the technology of implants in the future and AI to make decisions for people they can gather data about individuals that could potentially be used when replicating a person. The whole point is that Delos does not have enough data.
Since there is asymmetric data, a disconnect between the data in the "real world" and the park they cannot run this project. Ford stroke a deal with the Delos to not let them to certain things with property of the park - the host data. They could not use the data of the Cradle and the Reveries program (which for suppressed). They clearly saw hosts as the constants and not as living beings.
Wow, you´re really good at ranting. ^^ Could you please to that for the last GoT seasons too?

When are you gonna do this for Game of Thrones tho
Don't even agree with all your points but god I just love to hear you ranting anyway it makes me think
This video is fantastic! Schwifty forever!
One other thing I'm not clear on, maybe I missed it - why did Charlotte choose to use Peter Abernathy in the first place? Seems like a crazy coincidence that she'd pick Dolores' father for her storage device.
Wait so is this channel just Alt Shift X drunk ranting? Because that’s fucking amazing
Season 1 is perfect tv for me. Everything about it was smart, fresh, well done and overall excellent. Season 2 actually wasn't terrible (like GoT 7 and 8), but not only was it such a far cry from the quality of season 1, it was far too cocky and thought it was being smarter than it actually was.
Can't wait to see S03's version of this based on how horrible it's been.
Would LOVE to hear your opinion on S3. Also a podcast with you and Evan Rachel Wood would be so fun (are you listening, media gods?) cos she was top theoriser on set, apparently. I bet you could come up with alternate approaches and a bunch of easter eggs us mere mortals only aspire to noticing. You and Glidus keep me going as an Aussie immigrant overseas (and as a relatively intelligent human dealing with HBO shows)
So why does Bernard finish Strand’s sentence? Is it because his long and short term memory is so scrambled that literally things that happened seconds before are not being stored right? We see him watching hosts being killed on the side of the beach and then, as he looks back, the same host is being killed again. Means he’s the unreliable narrator.
Wait, Dolores is a protagonist?
S2 was good but it didn't live up to it's potential. It could have been amazing with some minor changes.
This is what happens with a story when you forcefully try to subvert expectations...
But I still love this show
Wait until Ford comes around and subverts all your expectations for good.
at 6:59 you mention that William is told by young Robert that he must find the door. But the door is only for hosts. This makes sense now that we know that William is in fact a host.
This rant could have been nothing but audio over James Delos dancing and I wouldn't have been upset at all.
I really hope they drop the non-linearity in season 3, now that they're out of Westworld
29:45 for Delos Dancing :D
When you take into account the flood probably happened a long time ago and covered up the town with dirt, the timeline starts to make a little more sense. It would explain why we knew Teddy's last name "Flood" in the first episode since his body was found in the lake caused by the flood. It would also explain all the flood damage to the park's underground labs that appears to be current timeline.
With all the jumping around in time it's not hard the believe Jonisa are torturing us mentally with every episode.
Epic rant
This take down is for the ages. Holy sheets!
