Let's model a COTTAGE in 10 MINUTES - Blender 2.83 - Ep. 26
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 чер 2020
- Welcome to Episode 26 of my 10 Minute Modeling Challenge! Yes, the video is 35 minutes and the title says 10 minutes - but the cottage is modeled in 10 minutes and then I'm adding bonus material with tips and extended modeling a bit like a tutorial. So, that's why the video is longer than 10 minutes =)
We're half way through the year nearly. There are roughly 52 weeks in a year and half of that is 26, so it's a bit of a milestone!
In this episode, I model a little red cottage and I try to stylize it to avoid it looking to straight and "boring". Instead of "just" providing some tips at the end, I do some further modeling at a slower pace with more commentary - hopefully a bit less stressful to those of you who prefer that :)

When I first started to get into game development, I scoffed at the notion that low-poly assets could look good. I stand corrected after watching several of your 10-minute modeling sessions.
Been a Blender user for about 6 years now. But I set time aside each day to watch and follow one of your 10min challenge videos. Keeps the blender skills sharp and I always learn something new or a new/easier way to model something. I look forward to it every day. Just wanted to say thank you and keep up the great work!
Im a complete noob beginner . Just found your channel. It will help me I know. Great tutorial.
I always appreciate your bonus material after the 10 minutes. My buddy and I look forward to every ten min low poly thursday now. Thanx for your time
I think that the "Bonus Material" - after the 10 Minute Challenge, is just as valuable (if not more so) than the standard material. The slower pace, the "error, think, correct" thought process is super-valuable. I have become a lock-down Imphenzia addict.
I watched this video with my husband, but you mentioned female audience again and I decided to watch the second time from my own account.
Thanks for re-watching it on your account =)
@@Imphenzia My gf also watches sometimes with me, so you might have more female views then you think, even maybe full 1% more :D.
Hey Imphenzia. Really love your stuff. Still one of the best Unity tutorials I know. Please let out the Unity and some more detailed animations tutorials. All in good time of course?
Love from Nigeria.
Love this series! Keeps me entertained during this quarantine :) Thankyou
Amazing stuff. Many thanks for all your great tuts.
Man I have to say the colours for this one are just beautiful. the red and brown go together real well :D
Wow that technique of making the roof tiles was just amazing. That just speeds up the workflow so much.
Just want to say Thank You! as your videos are great to improve modelling techniques, have helped me so much, things like using UV to color the model with scaling the vertices down ( I wouldn't have thought about that ) in an effective way and so many other techniques including this one. Your videos are very informative. Keep up the great work! :)
That house is pretty cartoonish. It inspired me to learn history of cartoons. Like... Why the curved edges became so common in some genres of cartoons, especially Disney ones.
Yeah, it adds a bit of playful character I think - I'd be interested if you find something out =)
When you said “im almost done” i was like nooooooo
Best blender content. Keep up the great work!
Hey, those are some big words, thanks!! =)
Beautiful! Amazing! Thank you for the video, i loved it!
I can't tell you how I love all of your works!
okay, not just your works but your humor :D
Imphenzia! Thank you very much for your music!
Especially for "First One", a very strong composition! I listen to her for motivation and inspiration for my first game.
Good luck !!!
Thanks! First One is one of my personal favorites too =) Glad it provides motivation!
Awesome as usual
Love your tutorials
wow! I am amazed! Thanks
This is very cool. Learning lots from your channel, thank you.
Love this!
Learned 2 things in this video alone. Thanks mate. Always enjoy your videos.
Glad to hear it!
it's a really nice end result. while watching i was thinking "whoa that's a bit extreme" when you were proportional editing, but then it all just came togethrer at the end and all just works to produce a nice result. good job, im going to attempt to replicate this style as ive been making low-poly buildings just now but i wasn't happy with them - their look was just too basic. I think if i took inspiration from your style then that would give them what's missing 👍 as always, loving your content, and im looking forward to whatever you come up with next 😄
Janitor closet.. =D Love your work
@19:20, you can hit R 2x, for gimbal rotation. It takes a bit of playing with to understand how to push/pull and roll left/right, but I use it all the time for this sort of thing. It makes aligning a long object to a surface easier, as your view alignment doesn't matter as much.
Great house! And great work, thank you! I love the low poly stuff 😉
Thanks, glad you like it!! =)
WOOOW cool best blender youtube
Cool stuff!
Genial esperando todos los jueves para aprender cosas nuevas, gracias.
Estoy feliz de escuchar eso gracias! Bienvenido de nuevo el próximo jueves =)
I think it's called knut (corner of the house) due to methods called knuttimring, used to basically lock the logs to each other in the corners, in ol' log cabins. FYI! :) Great video. Love the randomize transform on the tiles on the roof. Great way to give it some life!
You hand out pretty awesome tricks - I just learned mark to vertices and J to connect them - nice :D
Also I learned randomize - also awesome! :D
Haha... that chimney looks more like a huge gravestone was hurled into this poor little cottage's roof.
Thanks for sharing again. I'm getting better at this, thanks to you.
This is an amazing!
"It's time to get Shift-D!" - Rick
Ahhh!! U r back..❤
for the loopcuts on the broken geometry you can just make 1 cut in the center and bevel it to get the 2 borders rather than having to make them by hand
Didn't think of it like that.. Smart!
Blir så satans inspirerad! Tack!
I found your channel a few days ago and I can't stop watching. How many years of blendering experience you have?
Very nice! I finished this lesson for 1 hour.
I love the extra bit at the end where you add all the details! But I think your daughter might get mad for cheating! Lmao
Also, at the end when you were fixing the cliff, when you go to delete that vertex, you can do "Dissolve vertex" from the delete menu, and it would have kept all the faces there without that middle vertex.
I don't even use blender, but I enjoy watching how simple it looks for you. Maybe I can do it too....who knows.
Eyyyyyy! Episode 26 now!
So much episodes...
Yes, half way through a 52 week year!
Really good :D
it would have taken you half of the time without commentary and it's really empressive . thank you.
kudos!!
This is the add-on I mentioned that allows you to inset and extrude with one command. I haven't used it myself, but I thought you might want to play with it. It's at github under /anfeo/Blender_addno_Extrude_Inset
outstanding....
I really love your work! Thank you so much! One day I'll hire you for my gaming company :D
I think you're going for 100k so quickly than 10k. 😁 BTW you deserve more than that.
Thanks =) Yes, it took me 10 years to get 10k so if I reach 100k this year it would be great!
@@Imphenzia yeah I know, even I viewed your old videos of your channel when I subscribed your channel. I subscribed your channel from since like 2 or 3 months. That's why you deserve more than 10M. 😁 I hope you got a J curve in your channel success. Sorry if there's any mistake in my English. Actually I'm so bad in English.
My family owns a similar cottage but bigger d'uh!! far north in Norway!
amazing
Yes
When I started watching this video your cabin at the beginning reminds me of the Monopoly houses
Thank you :)
Whoooot ? A cottage ?
It was too easy for you !
Nice bro
Thanks 🐅
Loved the bonus material vibe of course, in addition to the 10-minute build. You're pretty cute as a woman.
hello, nice speed modeling. And what i want to say, when you press i just press ctrl too, and you will see magic 🙃
Shortcut for looptools menu is w then in that menu looptools and their is all the features of looptools.
that's great! Reminds me a lot of "My Time at Portia"
That looks like a nice game! Thnx
@@Imphenzia if you've got some hours to burn it's a really relaxing cute game
You could use lattice modifier to make it non destructive
Love these 10 minute modelling videos!, Good work, Where can we make requests for videos? :)
You should make a game with ALL your 10 minutes modeling chalenge models. Plz
Great
Lovely cottage :D I really like it, and I think i have to start doing some low poly assets now :D
You should try it - it's fun because you can get results fast :)
@@Imphenzia Well, I'll try then one day, now I'm a bit busy because I'm doing research for my major project for uni (it's a degree (BA) project). I would be in a realistic style, i mean the whole environment.
Anyway, thank you for that kind of videos, that inspires me a lot.
I love these videos. One thing: I noticed at the end when you were adding faces, you selected all four edges and pressed F. Not sure if you know, but you can save time by just selecting two opposite edges and pressing F.
but then it dosnt weld the unselected edges.... Snygg Jobbet!!
You should build an ice hockey arena or sports arena 🤔I love these videos!!!
Discovered that shift + g is handy for selecting tiles under the roof should you need to. select similar on plane or by normal
U are the best
BTW - another thing for speed, if you're doing F for creating faces, you only need to select the two opposite faces (not the full four ) if you're working with quads . It'll save a you a few clicks! :)
Yes thanks! Also the F2 addon is super handy, just one edge selected and it seems to figure out new faces really good! Thanks for commenting!
@@Imphenzia Oh wow - that's even quicker.. nice!
Thanks for the effort that you put to share these works with us. I have started to watch recently so i am not aware if you have shared before but, could you share your viewport settings with us? your screen has nice shaded look on it instead of dull colors (i mean the even the default cube or your piece, compared to the dull grey default look.)
ah..nvm...found it.. thanks a lot. ua-cam.com/video/BlxiCd0Upg4/v-deo.html
I'm the same as you, i have OCPD which means everything has to be lined up neatly and in order, i have a nightmare trying to model anything organic or "wonky", i can spend hours with one vertex trying to get it perfect.
Me too. It's helpful when programming, but not when making art.
крутая техника !!! автор молодец!!!
dope
This is an amazing video on 2x speed ;)
*Watching in the UK*
"Lest's get cottaging..."
*Spit's out tea in surprise!*
Haha, sorry about that :D
Just subscribed, great content. What are you using to paint the faces? (sorry I'm a beginner) and when exporting does the colour also export?
0:40 you knew what you were saying 😂😂😂😂
I just burst out laughing when he said this and had to scan the comments and see if anyone else caught it LOL!
I can't believe you don't have more subscribers..
4th!!!
Sunshine bad!
sorry for the comment spam, but i noticed that the edges of your faces look slightly highlighted like a sort of revers ambient occlusion. How did you achieve that? is it sometihng to do with the shader averaging the near colours on the texture or some other way? I like it
nm i found the answer in your video here: ua-cam.com/video/3njdzYh_1GM/v-deo.html
Top Gun released 1986, but hey almost got it right :)
the shaders and poly modles remind me of poly bridge, it was made using unity
2nd!
Can you run a simple vid on how to set up the colour swab and use it please.
where I can take a closer look at this way of texturing? Thanks
Hi great Video. But where can i find your video to setup blender the same like yours? Your video in the description link ist not working anymore. Is it possible to download your color palette? Thx so much.
And why when i start to scale an object i didn´t have the line to scale? I only can scale by clicking on the X/Y or Z.
Anyone know if he uses subtance or some other app to add more texture detail?
Anyone knows how to get the palette on the left ? Thanks !
Really cool again, question, we created our tiles and lost our selection (and undo buffer) what is the best way you recommend to reselect the tiles, we ended up having to circle select each one.
Have you increased the undo buffer? It has saved me a bunch of time. Also you can make vertex group if you decide to make some other changes after you've already selected vertices.
@@trygvij1604 Vertex Group - great idea. I have always wondered why blender doesn't allow you to save a selection like in photoshop
Ya! A tiny bit!😂
What’s this colour palette you’re using on the left? Is this an add on?
Hey maybe Im a bit late with asking but, when I use your color palette the colors wont show up in edit mode but when I got in object mode the colors on the block do show up how they are suposed to be..
Anyone know how to fix?
Low Poly Racer ??
I know, still a trying to work through the videos. Was hoping to do it last weekend but didn't manage to.
@@Imphenzia I am waiting for that video for the longest time
Wonderful Amazing... You have a Deutch Dialect? Or i wrong?
Let's make this a thing!

But how do you paint so fast? How to get the color palette?
Roses are Red.
Violets are Blue.
I love your videos.
So thankypoo you!
(I wrote that all by myself)
Thanks! glad you like.. or even love them! =)
