- Welcome to episode 53 of the 10 Minute Modeling Challenge! In this episode I model a snow scene, and I also look in the Discord channel for the Xmas Challenge for the first time and append the objects that were submitted there into my 10 minute scene. For a change, I'm also rendering the scene with emissive materials to make it nice and cozy :)

I've been modeling in Blender since about 2015 but more recently in the past couple of years. I've been making games and assets in Unity since 2011 and I'm currently working on a multiplayer RTS game that I'll be happy to announce later this year.
I use a Canon Lumix GH5 camera to record my videos with the Olympus 17mm F1.2 lens as well as the Laowa F2.0 7.5mm compact dreamer lens. Sometimes I also use a GoPro Hero 8, a Insta360 One X and a Sony rx100 mark vii. For audio I use a Rode NTG shotgun microphone connected to a RME Fireface UFX II sound card.

@@Imphenzia sir i m crazy fan of your methods specially E to extrude-s to scale that was amazing for making lot of stuffs.but i have a lot of problem with UV editor.first of all when i extrude a face from my shape the material texture of this face turn into broken geometry and i m so confused how to solve it .second problem is for example i made a big hall from a cube and scale and extrude it a lot and for each of faces i want to have separated material texture and in UV editor i see a lot of dots and vertexes that i want to scale theme like a square for joining to texture image but they are a lot and i cant move them easily and join to texture image please help.... thank you again for you methods.
My favorite thing to play with in blender is the emission material. Sometimes when I'm bored I just play with lights over a basic model
Unity has Shader Graph and VFX and there is also a paid asset called Amplify that may or may not be better than standard Unity features. If you like to make things glow and play with it maybe you could make a game of it that you and maybe other people would also like.

These challenges are just as good as tutorials, your narration is just phenomenal and if played at a slower speed this might as well just be a tutorial. I just got into Blender and I am already making my own models without your help just by remember your "E to Extrude, S to Scale" type comments. Keep it up man.
Thanks for teaching me how to take a single face and turn it into windows and doors and pretty much anything, that's an awesome skill, took me a bit to figure it out but starting to get the hang of it now :)

You can press numpad zero to view through camera and then shift + tilde to walk with the camera around and place it. Q and E is up and down WASD is moving like in an fps.
Mouse movement is rotate.

Hey you can connect the image textures colour to emission in the principal shader as well so you don’t need separate colour for emission and accurately do it

While experimenting, drop your render resolution to 50% and set render samples to be the same as viewport samples. Disable denoising in the render settings and set it up in the compositor instead. Your test renders will now be significantly faster and still look good enough for you to make good decisions about what to tweak next.
The T-shirt though. It should say "P" to Extrude 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂

I was wondering if you could do 20 minute challenges but with proper UV unwrapping and mapping since I really struggle with creating textures for my models and Don't really know where to do UV cuts in every situation :o

Which file format are you using for importing objekts from Blender into Blender? I have had a lot of trouble using fbx in the past...
Hi dear, what mean the x followed by Number like A x3, S x5, etc... in the yellow shortcuts? Is how many times you press the shortcut?
When you start made the house L, S, 3, L. What mean number 3? Is a shortcut, a measure? I try to press 3 and nothing happen.
I don't understand how you rotate the chimney top face to make it horizontal instead a slope. You said Z 0 but if I press Z a round menu appear and if I press 0 nothing happen. Is recorded on yellows shortcuts. I have to insert 0 somewere?

I try to made a snow on the roof with extrude, but it extrude with angle like 15°/20° and blue/azure line appear, like a "Photoshop guide". Is because I made chimney before the snow? I selected all the faces of the roof and press E. How I get correct orientation? Is something related to normals orientation?
-- Yes, I've found on top left side of Blender an extrudsion menu with two buttons Normal and XYZ. I press XYZ and the 3 axis become aligned!
Now the question is: is there also a way to change normals angles to made differents angles?

I just have one problem: when I am creating the tree, somehow the material does not get assigned to all the planes that I chose. Has anyone an idea why and how I can fix this?
You have to add a material and assign it to the polygons that you have selected.
