Time management, if you can’t manage your time without stressing yourself out then it’s doubtful attain what you want to achieve, or maybe only mediocrely, and you may suffer mentally, so don’t try and push yourself beyond your capabilities. Some people thrive under stress others don’t🤔

Your coach sounds very wise Nate, and good for you to enter into this experience. The content you discover and share is inherently stressful so it makes sense for you to have this retreat. Also, your lessons and personal reflections in this video are very helpful. You motivated me to spend an hour being aware, and offline. May you be peaceful and at ease over the next 5 weeks.

Besides Fight, Flight and Freeze a fourth category is pretty established in Psychology by now the so called "Fawn response", a term credited to Pete Walker the author of "Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving".
"The fawn response is characterized by placating and appeasing behavior directed toward the perpetrator of abuse, in an attempt to reduce their volatility and abusiveness towards oneself and/or others"

Was injured in a catastrophic accident (not of my making) which left me with broken bones and bruising injuries, one injury being to the head. Whilst I physically healed, only leaving me with scaring, I started suffering from panic attacks which I’d never had before, the panic attacks were brought on by stress, I worked in a stressful job, one that I loved, but it frequently required meeting deadlines. Visited a clinical phycologist, was told that part of my brain had undergone what could only be described as a short circuit, the result being like an electrical flashover, when that happens it leaves a carbon track so whenever electrical potential rises it will flashover below its previous flash point, whilst you can clean or replace an electrical device you can’t do that with the brain, so you have to become aware of what causes those stress levels and avoid them, which is what I’ve had to do and live with🤔

A deep bow , a standing ovation, and humble thanks Nate, for your core shift. I’ve followed your meteoric rise in your podcast and for the past year had to reduce my intake of your always valuable interviews.
Our mass addiction to the FOMO -driven 24/7 “firehose” of content has come to include even the voices that I truly want to hear.
My work in Living Resilience is offering support, resources and practices to the collapse-aware and collapse-acceptant communities.
Many of the elements you describe in this Frankly and in your retreat are woven into our work in our support groups, especially our Community of Practice.
I really look forward to hearing about your time away.
I’ve been gathering and curating practices for decades now, practices like the daily mini rituals you describe in this video.
I won’t lie… I’m envious as hell at the ability and resources to take 5 weeks off. I truly hope this is magnificent for you - and I trust you will return to share with us some of your learnings and experiences.
You are an able and generous teacher. We need what you offer… and now we get to have you embodying new ways of being, while offering us the information and the knowledge.
Thank you for your essential curiosity and generosity of spirit.

I doubt very much that you’ll read this Nate, but it’s said a problem shared is a problem halved, and there are many of us making up those halves who tune in to your podcasts. Your problems seem to be one of time management and if you’re a perfectionist and altruistic person which is what I think your are, that makes time management and problem solving doubly difficult. I also feel you’ve tapped into something with regard to the poly and metacrisis, with a slogan aptly named “The Great Simplification” and that along with the wise choices of guests you’ve made to date. You’ve also tapped into something many of us can relate to, but therein lies another problem one of the success of your philosophy/ideology seen throughout increasing numbers of followers, which requires even more of your time to produce content. It reaches a point where to continue your success a production team and someone to direct them is needed according to your philosophy/ideology and that means releasing the reins to others, and therein lies maybe your greatest problem one of delegation. Your health must come first. I just hope we’re not seeing the demise of Nate Hagens along with “The Great Simplication” and so hope this de-stress and detoxification retreat has the desired effect🤔

Nate, my explanation; the basis of life is reincarantion we are all connected by thoughts and experiences in an unknown system as thoughts are not known to exist. Psychopaths and narcissists have strong minds to influence this connection system trying to dominate their ego over the importance of the whole. Their tools hypnosis and part possession, influencing people their way. Being away form our normal connections with other people helps to find our own way without too much influence. Your coach talk about stacks of thoughts. Healing and trying to get rid of hypnosis is important. Have a good time relaxing and finding a rhythm.

I have unsubscribed from Russel Brand and Gerald Celente. When they "calm down" and start communicating in "appropriate tones" that do not escalate adrenaline with "over the top" aggression, I MIGHT go back. Meantime, I don't look for "war narratives" from anyone, also unsubscribed The Grayzone and The Duran. Yes, Nate, your content AND presentation is reasonable and rational, like any "teacher" that has anything to say. The review of 7 levels of human being is great, and presents a path to click on a parade of "choices" that make sense and suggest "making plans" as opposed to waiting for "someone's" predictions to come true.

This will probably get lost but the dopamine figure could explain why we have a two party system around the world.
It us also at a cellular level, cells find a way around problems and then rest, do and be.
What's interesting is the cells if told soon enough can survive issues, my worry is the shock will be so great because of the hidden messages given to the public about the real dangers, the cells don't have a chance to find a work around

Great episode Nate. Looking forward to seeing the "new you" although the current version has a lot to like also. You might find value in something called the enneagram. It's ancient wisdom that went mainstream and perhaps got corrupted a bit in the process but at it's core I think it offers tremendous insight intro how each of us react to stress, and shows us that there is a way out of repetitive patterns that keep us "stuck". Russ Hudson has an audiobook entitled "The Enneagram - Nine Gateways to Presence" which I found very helpful.. it struck me while listening that if we could just channel the energy in our own psyche with awareness the world might change overnight.

Very interesting, I look forward to hearing about your "results" in February! I also greatly appreciate your conscious avoidance of the "guru" path (which doesn't preclude self mastery). In my perspective, that path is a trap for all involved as it is too easily abused and seems to be based in an authoritarian cultural framework. IMHO, we humans did not evolve to live in authoritarian social structures and will not get free of the predicament of modernism (ie, "growth is good") until we can throw off the shackles of authoritarian thinking and acting and return to the relative egalitarianism of our origins.

The idea of an evolutionary stack I completely go along with.
The one described is way off.
The base is biochemical - subcellular systems.
    Then cellular.
Then cooperating cells - which includes our own cells cooperating, and our microbiome.
Cooperation is what makes complexity possible, at every level of the stack.
At 10:15 someone's Freudian slip is showing - Oxytocin - NOT - Oxytoxin.
Anything can be a toxin in an inappropriate concentration in an inappropriate context.
Our emotional states evolved for contexts of our deep past. They are part of us, they can deliver degrees of wisdom, and in our modern contexts, can be entirely inappropriate. That is one of the problems with the degrees of novelty we are now generating.
Much of the rest I broadly align with. I spend time in nature, observing birds, walking the dog, watching the clouds and the ocean.
Long term silence is not an option when married to my beloved ;)
Enjoy and return with new perspectives.

In talking about "homo economius" it strikes me that "economics" and "ecology" both start with the same "eco" prefix. I don't know what "eco" means in the original ancient Greek but it must have been something to do with system flows. Economics got split off from ecology at some point where now some economists talk about "incentives" to save ecological values as though you can put a fence and a turnstile for entry to a piece of ecology and charge for entry and completely bypassing and forgetting the reality that economics is a subset of society which is a subset of our biological species which is a subset of the biosphere.

As a clin psych, great to see this stuff being discussed. The only missing piece of the puzzle now is leftist historical analysis and you have the whole pie. Obviously you cannot try to challenge the system without looking into the history of those who have already done so.

I have a strange Theory. Although I do not have all of this hammered out yet I will do the best I can. I begin with our claim of being civilized, this is only a contrived self-definition as we have no reference outside of our own history to compare it too, we are creatures of nature in Forever subject to its rules written into our genetic code, biological organisms are basically programmed to do three things eat mate and kill in defense of the previous two. Nature is a state of Anarchy where all behavior is permitted however arbitrarily acceptable, and operates on a dominance hierarchy in many facets of life. By comparison what we do in the modern world also is a tiered system of dominance the same as natural Anarchy, however we in the modern world create self-empowering ideologies to justify our primitive desire to dominate each other we are the only animal that does this, therefore we are not what we call civilized we are just primitive talking monkeys manifesting the laws of nature in modern times with the creation of contrived ideologies of self-empowerment. We expand and escalate the brutality in modern times justified through contrived ideologies

OK. Forgive me please. I doubted you for a bit. I love what you are attempting. The environment you are about to enter is the environment we can make for ourselves. I read Walden Two. Someone also read it: Kat Kincaid. She started Twin Oaks, Eastwind, and Acorn. Thich Nhat Hanh started Plum Village. They didn't actually "start" these things as much as planted old good seeds. We are all gardeners to be needing better gardens.
