not sure if it was just me, but the laughter and applause from the publicum after Schmachtenbergers initial statement "...that what I've been reflecting on" felt highly dissonant from a proper reaction. Maybe I'm in a state already where i just can't squeeze out any positive emotion when it comes to our current state of civilization
From about 4:30 to 19:00, reminds me of native Americans' ghost dance or death song; simply an acknowledgement of the way things are. Whether personal or species lifespan, all pulses in time have a beginning, a middle, and an end. After this stark realization, one is tempted to seek deliverance in metaphysical stories or psychedelic visions.
I’m questioning whether the sushi I just ate was factory farmed or raised organically. Same with the coffee I just drank. I’m going for a walk outside. It’s close to a comfortable 80 degrees for now until hot as hell in June. Life is okay I guess, but I don’t feel as though I have much impact compared to the systems we’re governed by. However, it is imperative that I be empowered enough to counteract it? We’re all in big trouble then.
All behavior is driven by material incentive - the status quo is deeply intertwined with the incentives regular working people have in their day to day. I found myself sobbing. Daniel, I hear a tremor in your voice, I see the sorrow in your face. I paused the video like a million times to take notes, not realizing there was a transcript. I know you were talking to the Impact Week attendees, but for those of us who only get to watch the video, it's often hard to find anybody else aware of Moloch. I am working on cultivating that awareness among those around me who may be receptive. It's hard work, both emotionally and kinetically. The hardest thing is to invite others to tread through the dark tunnel I have been in, to ask them to do the emotional work that I am compelled to do. Thank you for the encouragement to do this, and your framing of the necessary grief.
except that his axiomatic predispositions are completely misaligned. His core belief is that we are on a doomsday vector. Based on what? What is this doomsday? it is a completely and utterly a subjective projection. Yet, never in any societal mythology have the doomsday occured. Yet, with enough intellectual similitudes you can make it sound as if the first principle is just an obvious thing, if you dont get on it you are stupid. Here is the emperor with no clothes.
@@bjorns1135 If the emperor is naked, please share some examples of large positive impact in any of the areas that he addresses (Biodiversity, energy, democracy, mental health, wealth distribution and so on).
@@JOHAN_PERJUS Well, it's hard for the reasons I outline in my first commentary. He is drenched in a discourse, which is based on a set of beliefs or axiomatic dogmas, in which the discourse takes as absolute truths in order to be able to have a discourse. The unspoken rules of this discourse (which the presenter of the lecture also shares) are "to be on a moral high ground, by talking down" - "I once was a sinner, but now I am enlightened". If you agree with the presenter, you as a viewer, are also redeemed of the sin. This is the game that is being played. Messianic megolomania. The purest moral postulator wins, standing on the dead bodies of previous prophets. In a sense, the perceived crisis is only so because of a wrong, fundamental fallacy out of which all the popular beliefs stem from. It's an argument that sucks, because I am not contributing to the discourse what so ever. I am just proposing a blanket "no". Elon Musk said it best "Sometimes we optimize and work on processes that simply should not exist". I can clearly see two discourses going on in two different echo chambers - this one, and then there is another one which have another set of axiomatic assumptions. My prediction is that the one with more power to create peace and wellbeing, will prevail. So my subjective (aside from the supporting objective facts) viewpoint is: I much rather go down with the ship as the captain of my destiny with peace and wellbeing, than to live in a mental prison built by other people's fear about a future no one can predict. Schmachtenberger is a fear mongerer, with a superior intellect that has the ability to sanctimoniously obfuscate his true intent of messianic complexes. He is smart but not wise. Or so it would seem out of the way he speaks.
Kind of going through a rough spot in my own life. Popped this on before bed, 10 min in felt like that was a massive mistake and I was heading for a panic attack. Glad I sat down with the whole thing. Thank you for your talk. I hope we can all get through this together. Here’s to hoping we can awaken that which is inside us so that we can be great 🙏
Yeaaaah, this one wasn't a good one to throw on right before I went to bed last night. Although I did wake up thinking about the metacrisis... so there's a plus.
Daniel needs to work with all world leaders, and tribes hand in hand so we can save the inicent sentient beings that are not responsible for this mass destruction caused by humans. Does Daniel give advice on what we can do to help Bend and not Break, besides the obvious actions???? Please let me know, and I will help in every way I can.
You can literally see the apprehension in Daniel's eyes here, he's nearly in tears. So should we all be. That look in his eye reminds me of Yudkowsky's desperate pleas regarding artificial intelligence. There is a part of me that's rooting for the end, rooting for these self-destructive 'human' creatures who have fucked up the world and all life on it to be gone, yes? You had your shot, humans, and you totally fucked it up and now you're history. Seeya. And rightfully so. Rightfully so. Then I think of 'Ode to Joy' or the Pyramids of Giza or Van Gogh's Starry Night or the Apollo 11 mission or the taste of a Loire Cabernet Franc with Marcella Hazan's tomato sauce over homemade spaghetti and I wonder, should I be so quick to judge? Why not try to save the good? Isn't that worth fighting for? Can't we create something better together? What if we're truly just in our crazy adolescent stage? Our species's teenage years? Perhaps this is just a phase? Can I forgive the genocide, the rape, the species extinction, the slavery, the willful destruction of environment for money and strip-malls etc., etc., ad infinitum? Can we ever be forgiven for these sins? Can we forgive ourselves? Can we go on knowing what we have done to each other and to our planet, to our home? I don't know.
I think we can. I think we get to decide, and I choose to. Forgive myself and others. Stop pointing fingers. Roll up my sleeves. Put on a smile. And face the music. Everyday, with patience, with understanding, with compassion, with love. This is about changing directions, not fixing everything overnight. And when this world makes us depressed and tired, we need to learn to rest, not to quit. Never to quit.
And grow in our love even when faced with the horrors we hold on to the solution being love. This is just words but the truth you feel will bring a vast expanse of possibilities of being and part of everything. Those tiniest moments we we feel this grow, so have faith in what you already know. Namaste 🙏
Well said. Thank you. I feel this is the best course of action. A sort of practical optimism, yes? I think Daniel calls this post-cynical optimism. @@catherinelussier4979
Even if it is best for humanity to die off. It's not like we can snap our fingers and humanity is gone. If humanity dies out, all complex life on Earth will go down with us. We have to try. Even if we fail we have to try. We also have to recognize that we don't have another civilization to contrast to ours. What would a world look like without advertising? Without an economic growth imperative? Without global warfare dynamics? If we can engineer a civilization that solves moloch with the flourishing of all life and consciousness at the center of its value landscape, how inspiring might humanity become? No one knows how good things could get. Because that has never happened before. But perhaps it can.
I just appreciate this man so much. This and his 3-hour conversation with Nate back in May were almost a spiritual experience for me. 🔥 Daniel gives words to truths I only half-understood before, or just sensed. I find him intellectually rigorous, expansive in his thinking (he throws in so many tidbits from multiple fields that are easily missed), effectively articulate, and brilliant. His humility *and* candor are breathtaking to me. His willingness to speak the horrible truth without shaming people -- and say the f-word in a room like that! -- gets my vote. Toward the end, I was struck by the look in his eyes this time: like love, grief, and deep knowing. I got a flash of the future where humans (maybe) watch this talk -- on some old analog device lol -- and feel so much gratitude for this prophet, and so much compassion and grief that more of us didn't understand him or heed his words. 💔 Speaking of which, was anyone else amused by Niklas Adalberth's face during the "interview"? He seems like a nice man, but he was SO out of his depth sharing the stage with Daniel, and a couple of his questions were absurd given what Daniel had just said. What was especially painful to me was how typical this scenario is: smart, caring people like Daniel telling the truth, and powerful folks like Adalberth just not getting it -- nor seemingly willing or able to pause long enough to understand. Finally, I really appreciated Daniel not taking the bait about telling people to not get depressed. Finally, no bullshit or saving people from themselves! He says we *should* get depressed -- and have all kinds of other feelings -- because those are entirely appropriate given the situation, and these feelings mean we have a heart/soul/humanity. (Yes!) THEN we figure out an action. And then when that doesn't work, figure out another one. It's not for us to blame others or focus on what *other people* need to do, but to take more responsibility for how we live and what we expose ourselves to, acting from a love of the sacred. 🌟 Isabel Wilkerson calls herself "the building inspector" when it comes to the US caste system (racism). It's not for her to rebuild the dilapidated house or direct the remodel, just report on its state. I see Daniel the same way -- he is the "building inspector" of civilization, and it's up to us to figure out what to do next. 🌱
you just found your prophet and he is a really sad one. It's fucking boring this old doomsday religion, whose predictions keep being proven wrong again and again. In any case, what's his solution for his apocalyptic views? Just more governmental regulation. In other words, money, money, money for my bright friends and me. Who would have thought... Peasant, stay scared shitless and let the elites regulate your life, the economy and the entire world. The "planet" is not dying because it's a rock in space, but the entire western civilization, this is, life as we know it, is in full decline thanks to a rampantly increasing control of our existence as a whole by corrupt and incompetent elites.
Grief. It took me a while to understand this is what I was experiencing this past year. I can’t even get a single family member to accept where we are, let alone change their actions. Goodbye World.
Deeply appreciate what you've written here, @wordswisdomwellness. There are people in the world that are waking up to this and more and more they are taking action. As Bucky put it "Whether it is to be Utopia or Oblivion will be a tightrope walk right up until the final moments." @Chrismullin8305 - despair is an understandable response, but our love of the world asks for more from us. It asks for conviction in the face of despair.
@@chrismullin8304so after watching and hearing all that he had to say, you want to give up? You could move on and find humans like me that want to address this side by side. You think you have absolutely have nothing to contribute? How about another loud, confident voice amidst the lies and chaos? I have felt that same grief, deeply for most of my adult life. It's so incredibly isolating that hearing even a handful of others bring it up fills me with at least a sense of determination and community. In the end, at the very least I don't want to be alone. If I have to go, it may as well be with all the people that gave a shit and tried for better.

Thank you, @DanielSchmactenberger for bearing with your discomfort for public speaking and blinding lights to wake us the f*** up. We are fellow travelers in this regard. Appreciate you and your message.
I think this is the most powerful conversation I have heard from Daniel. Deep, rich, wise, and urgent. A pity about the appalling lack of intimacy on the stage, and the inanity of some of questions from Niklas. I’m glad Daniel pushed back on the question of depression, which is a hideously inadequate term: diagnostic, overgeneralised, imprecise, and a misdirection. What we face is not a malady or psychopathology that we need to identify, root out and “deal with”. What is required of us at this point of planetary crisis (apocalypse, in the proper sense of the word) is more like a skill or human capacity: to grieve, to sorrow, to engage in katabasis. To look squarely at our limitations, our vulnerabilities, our transgressions - all those things our culture denies and refuses - and not to turn away until we have acknowledged and ingested them, until there is a door open to repentance.
So who will be repenting? Those who send us into the trenches again, killing hundreds of millions of us so their accounting ledgers will be in the black? Or?
we are at the tipping point ; technology, of which we are now servants, will either make or break us. and the people who will inevitably make that choice, have all gone insane on money, and have hoarded and stolen and hidden away all possible wealth and power, they obfuscate the truth, they lie, they ignore everything. god knows what goes on in their heads. the sheer statistical differences between the few and the many are so insane, it might as well be some sort of book or movie plot
Daniel hits the nail on the head again. It's difficult for me to not become discouraged by the depravity and thoughtlessness of humans sometimes but hearing bright minds and hearts like his helps to keep going on this path less travelled. So, thank you to Daniel and thank you for posting!

the thing is if people want to see change they have to do it. I have more respect for people who own bee farms and clean the ocean they are actually doing something about it instead of talking.
Err, maybe not a beautiful as you think. For example money did not develop as a way of replacing barter. The first uses of money were for accounting, not to replace bartering. From my understanding Daniel Schmachtenberger's theory of the metacrisis perfectly explains Bhuddas teachings' essence why there is nothing fundamental we can rely on in the materialistic world. Thanks for that update and your effort to present that old wisdom with the contemporary perspective to it, Daniel! Namaste 🙏❤
Great talk. I've lived with an acceptance of the likelihood of collapse since about 2007 (although then it was just peak oil, now I have a deeper understanding of the metacrisis of which Daniel speaks. I live between bouts of gloom when I am more in the Deep Adaptation community, to more uplifted moments, through Solarpunk and Permaculture. I think its good that people are starting to talk about this in the mainstream, and I really hope we can effect change together.

I am lifted, grateful and moved to hope by this brilliant man who expresses with such a broad body of knowledge, the things so Many of us feel and know is happening- is where we are. I have felt this since I was a teen in the 70s. This blind March of human folly that now could end us. I’ve been fighting and will continue until my last breath. As he said - nothing else matters. NO complacency.
One of the hardest parts of being a visionary is recognizing that other people don't see what you see and often, think you're nuts. As Daniel mentions, others are looking at what is or what was and not what can be. Visionaries tend to start out speaking as if others do see what they see and people are confused and don't understand what that person is talking about. It is the role of a visionary to present the vision in a way that everyone can understand so they can see it too. I think Daniel struggled with this quite a bit when he was younger but now seems to be learning how to present the vision so that it can be seen and understood by others.
I keep coming across videos that make me think "this is the only video you need to watch today". But finally I've found the "only video you should watch". Fullstop. Daniel has literally covered everything I believe but of course much more articulately.
A comment is needed, so I'll say that this was like watching my own words being filtered through someone else's body. This problem is not being addressed by any entity, and the vast majority of people don't even acknowledge it in their daily lives, yet it is THE Only Thing That Matters. Fail this Now, and we get no other chance at anything.
Thank you, thank you, Daniel. I always feel like I'm the only zealot I know. People don't want bad news, but we have to pull our heads out of the sand. 💙

Compelling. I discovered this philosopher last week and have been trying to grok his message through several podcasts, talks, and interviews. This is a good one. How does a high school science teacher respond to these clarifications of the adumbrations and lengthening shadows of realities cropping up all around. I’m watching “leave the world behind” just now and it’s just one of many psychological horror movies these days that spins grim tales of catastrophic collapse ala moloch and the meta crisis. It’s a chilling zeitgeist. But the reality is worse… because it’s real…
Maybe the most important video you have ever seen. Please endeavor to understand and memorize all the details of this argument and pursue action in the direction of the omni-solution.
I must have listened to this speech a hundred times over the last month or so now but there is one part that spooks me everytime, 32:07, where Daniel says that this omnicidal thing, Moloch, the Superorganism or the Megamachine has to DIE and at that precise moment, as if Moloch was listening, you hear a baby cry out in the background. Coincidence? Makes me wonder.
"Recognizing the destruction of the sacred" - feel it, then move to triage, transition work or actions to create the new system. Finding your part in the repair, the true change and transformation, and change the feed of your awareness and focus on being of service to the new reality.
absolutely epic and revealing talk. Sobering to say the least. Really appreciate the call to action as well. Seems like we need to reclaim pre- industrial ways of living on a global scale. Thank you Norssken foundation for hosting Daniel. We would not have heard about him and learnt from his wisdom if you didn't host him and share his words with us. Much gratitude to you all!
Fuck (sorry) This hits home: "Either we are at the end of our species, OR we are at the end of our species being defined by those parameters." ... parameters being those which were used to build the structures of the majority of our current world societies (long breath in, long breath out), sooooooooo, I'm in for redefining being human. Many of us are here are standing on the leading edge of the creation of this new sense of identity as humans. Awareness is key (and Daniel, you make this so painfully obvious. thank you. you are just hmmm, rocking it), and the croud effect is compounding. To co-create faster, uniting is also key. I've observed that it's when we unite that we really witness ourselves evolving, and that's exhilirating. This increases both desire to change and belief that it is not only possible, but also happening right here, right now. High frequency spreads wider and affects deeper. Those standing on this leading edge dare to flirt with the notion of what beautiful future is possible. Those who dare stand on this edge bring into focus an expectation, a birthing, a complete and total belief and readiness for this beautiful future. I say bring it on beautiful humans! Thx for sharing this talk btw Norrsken!
I wonder if the AI revolution could have the secondary effect of uniting us all ? Writers sometimes imagine that only a visit from Aliens could unite humanity, but AI is an 'Alien' intelligence, and it _could_ trigger a global feeling of 'one-ness'. It will ripple through our societal structure and create havoc on all levels. unemployment, fight for jobs, unrest, misinformation, trust breakdown etc.. Humans may start feeling they are in the same boat and actually unite towards survival with new parameters ?

I miss the mention of another challenge, the biggest almost no one seems to talk about: how to spread a culture of emotional self responsibility in the world. It seems that in order to be an activist and do "good things" for the world you need to be "terrified" or "enraged", because "how not, you are justified". Every adult knows that thinking and taking decisions in that state is not the wisest way of living, but then every ideology, media, organization and brand is compiting to keep us the most emotionally unstable as possible, because the more emotional you are, the more controllable you are. If you try to think in spite of the emotion, you are thinking what the emotion allows, and what the ones manipulationg your emotions want. The biggest revolution we are not starting is to take responsibility of your emotions first, because while you are in emotional distress there is something important that you are missing. Yes, sometimes you need to act quick and imperfect, but ask your self, is it really now, can't I spare 30 minutes of meditation and emotional processing first, try to ask for the perspective of emotional equanimity, compasion and a wider perspective who we really are, to help us think with more precission on the roots of the problems and the best ways of action?
Daniel Schmachtenberger, Iain McGilchrist and John Vervaeke had a 3.3 hour long conversation on "the psychological drivers of the metacrisis" recently. I can highly recommend watching that!
I completely agree with you, but along with taking care of our emotions, we should also constantly talk to people about contemplation and optimism, about seeing all of this as a fun game to be played, this way we dont become hysterical anymore, become more rational, and can actually dialogue with others in productive ways instead of scaring, depressing and catastrophizing the situation. Capitalism is extremely versatile, more and more people are starting to talk about the meaning crisis, philosophers today are slowly becoming more spiritual, the population is becoming increasingly tired of online wars, more people are becoming spiritual, there is an increasing effort in developing eco friendly technologies and practices.
Very true. Part of being a good activist is not being overwhelmed by success or failures. The job goes on and on forever and being rocked by either burns you our real quick.
Daniel doesn't come with false hope and most people can't take it. They come to these conferences looking for a Bezos or Musk type presentation about how to make billions in new tech.
Daniel, so nice to here so close thoughts to mine I collected from the smart authors, thinkers, institutions in the last 14 years. Happy to connect with you somehow - through LinkedIn or else… And talk in details - What Really could be changed in the next 20-30 years? Where the world (and it’s different parts) could be by 2050?? What is The Collapse we’re talking about? Could we help people/cities/countries/communities better prepare to it!?? And how the Solutions could look like??
I was first introduced to Daniel’s perspective during the pandemic and he was so refreshing to listen to. Partly because he’s learned to tap into higher frequencies. Listening to him today after years, the same message holds true. Only now, it’s coming with a warning. If we remember who we are, we’ll stop living such hateful lives. Watch his talk on emergence (you’re welcome)
Watching this has changed my mind about my sense of powerlessness, and hardened my resolve to work for a changed world. The work of imagining a new world order is the next step... I wonder if someone could write a novel (that's really good) but also captures this?

Consider me a disciple. I wish it were possible to directly thank Daniel. This might just be the thing to save what's left of my soul. I have been on a long, dark, and profound journey for the past few years. COVID opened my eyes to the full spectrum and truth about how the world and humanity works, and Daniel has masterfully synthesized that experience in every facet of that speech. The cynic in me shrunk a few sizes today, and I can only hope to continue that process as I surround myself with folks who can see the sliver of light in the darkness like this. I sincerely hope this changes the trajectory of my own life. I'll be watching the rest of this series and reading/listening to more of his and everyone's work. Thank you for not giving up like the power hungry monsters that be. The good fight is the only one worth fighting.
when I hear DS speaking, it’s like one of those rare moments when I recognize near perfect resonance with another mind and perspective. I agree with everything he says- except I think he could take it a step further. there is something he still does not see. in 2018, I began speaking with groups about a “meta-solution” to the hyper-objects (“meta-crises”) which encompass our world. I would pose the question: after observing 30 years of working and operating (and being very depressed at times) within the environmental crisis movement-I’ve been driven to a most fundamental question: why isn’t it working? why aren’t we changing fast enough? why is there this deep collective resistance? that is the question I’ve been focusing on for at least the last 7 years and I’ve come to a set of conclusions that includes but also goes beyond what DS is saying we have to keep asking ourselves if our consciousness is aligned with what is most real
It is uplifting to see others who agree with David's thoughts. Can we create something together here and now, in this thread? I am happy to put in a penny if financing is required. As I understand it, David gives a very good picture of the state of affairs. However, it remains to formulate ways to organize ourselves and act. For example, we can start a discussion group with the aim of understanding how this can happen. Some initial thoughts: > Knowledge of the acute condition we are in needs to reach more people. We can contribute to that. > It is also important that all the justice and rights movements and climate and environmental organizations etc. - which today already organize people - join together. Separated into different single-issue movements, we are doomed to fail on the issue we are working on, but also fail to address the larger systemic issues. A movement that raises this need and builds bridges between different existing movements seems important. What do you think? Do we exchange contact details right here in the thread and start the work?
Excellent, comprehensive analysis! Civilization gone berserk, refusing to even consider justice and the moderation that implies. The deeper analysis of what is driving humanity towards self-annihilation is our collective refusal to recognize and understand that we are one humanity intricately entwined with with the natural world and all that implies about moral and ethical responsibilities to each other and to the systems that sustain life on this one world that sustains us all, i. e., our collective stubborn refusal to see reality, our spiritual vacuum.

we focus too much on the messengers and not enough on the message I feel it relates to wanting & waiting to be saved, rather than taking our salvation into our own hands.
@@weseeclearly777I think it's because many of us lack a sense of belonging in our lives. It's only natural, but a symptom of a much deeper issue. One should beware of idolization. Respect and admire the messenger, but focus on the message. There's no salvation to be found online.
He’s so adamant about reminding people to “hold both.” So, holding pain in balance with the beauty. In other words, he’s reminding us constantly to remain committed to being in service to the sacredness of life, while also being cognizant of all the tragedies. So that *pain* becomes an arrow pointing to the areas of life which need healing and attention. Much like our physical bodies. And you can’t do proper healing if you’re not holding the value of life and wellbeing at the center of what you do. It’s a balance of perspective. So, I’m confident that Daniels pain is a healthy pain that he wouldn’t want to rid himself of.
Thank you Daniel we are evolving into a misaligned Consciousness Meta Society that needs to define a set of universal spiritual values that are understood and applied by the power systems, governments and institutions to influence the world towards a new collective higher values based... earth evolutionary....leap.
It is still a problem for those who recognise the real complexity of our upcoming calamity being ridiculed in the press for their opinions and the information they present, particularly in the US and less so in other "Western democracies" I am so grateful to you for exposing the scale of the problem. Nobody is facing up to the gulf between what we have to do and what governmental or commercial interests will permit.
That last bit about healthy depression informed action is actually about "shared responsibility" (vs. the distributed/legal responsibility we've been conditioned to), which is such a crucial topic that hardly anyone talks about. It's what aligns us w/Gaia in more healthy relationship.
The economy grow financially and socially, indefinitely, if we convert from quanititative growth model to a qualitative growth model: not more of anything, but better of everything. It means the "expansion" of culture and economy into the dimension of complexity.
At the heart of it, angst and apathy are equivalent to narcissism or ignorance - they're self-indulgent behaviours that get in the way of self-disciplined, meaningful action. So don't despair. There isn't time. Be the change you want to see. Support small business. Reject and boycott massive corporations at every possible opportunity. Skill up. Ditch unnecessary distractions. Read. Train yourself, family (and friends that can take it) over time to be content with less material comfort and convenience. Evolve. The Titanic might be going down but if you keep your head you might be able to Noah a lifeboat or two for others, and maybe even yourself, to fight another day to help to be part of a part of a solution (or the series of necessary trade-offs), rather than exacerbating the problems. Yes, it means sacrifice, but nothing truly worthwhile is easy. Thanks once again Dan the man.
43:54 100% agree about this, I get into this rabbit hole early in my 20s, experience depression early as a natural result of this awareness that others hasn't caught up yet, so I gave myself a room and time to recover and grow from that earlier than if I keep avoiding the truth of the matter and continue being living blissfully ignorant.

Best part of this entire talk.
43:33 “digesting this, how can you not become depressed?” Daniel’s answer blows my mind and touches my heart.

In awe of this mans straightforward, pragmatic and sober intellectual reasoning.
except that his axiomatic predispositions are completely misaligned.
Ooft. Big, sobering dose of well-documented, impeccably presented reality. Not encouraging to hear but a critical message that needs more air time.
Namaste 🙏

Speaking of which, was anyone else amused by Niklas Adalberth's face during the "interview"?
Isabel Wilkerson calls herself "the building inspector" when it comes to the US caste system (racism).
Or?

One of the hardest parts of being a visionary is recognizing that other people don't see what you see and often, think you're nuts. As Daniel mentions, others are looking at what is or what was and not what can be. Visionaries tend to start out speaking as if others do see what they see and people are confused and don't understand what that person is talking about. It is the role of a visionary to present the vision in a way that everyone can understand so they can see it too. I think Daniel struggled with this quite a bit when he was younger but now seems to be learning how to present the vision so that it can be seen and understood by others.

As always a mind-expanding perspective from Daniel - our issues are so fundamental.

Wow…so devastating and brilliant…
Amazing talk! Will be listening to more of Daniel since this is the first I’ve heard of him
I've been through the depression and am now out on the other side and I am fundamentally optimistic about the future.
I realized that no philosophy or video could make me depressed, I wish people had that resilience instead of sucumbing to misery.
Daniel is a brave man I enjoy listening to him.
What a truth explosion! Holy Christ on a bike, what a description of our collective reality.... ❤️
Hmm maybe Christ On A Bike IS what the world needs? A religion of hyper sustainable living and market rejection. Food for thought
Daniel doesn't come with false hope and most people can't take it. They come to these conferences looking for a Bezos or Musk type presentation about how to make billions in new tech.
How can we advocate for solutions that favor the many vs the few without using the word communism?
Some very intelligent people really think there is such a thing as choice . I pray for your souls .
@@izdotcarter you can't. It's ingrained conditioning. Sad .
@@izdotcarter we need to hire an expensive PR consultant to come up with a snazzy new name.
Thank you for this great deeply motivating conversation. Greeting from Uruguay!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your thoughts, your concerns 🙏🏻
I was first introduced to Daniel’s perspective during the pandemic and he was so refreshing to listen to. Partly because he’s learned to tap into higher frequencies. Listening to him today after years, the same message holds true. Only now, it’s coming with a warning.
If we remember who we are, we’ll stop living such hateful lives.
Watch his talk on emergence (you’re welcome)
So well articulated and thought provoking. Thank you Daniel for bringing us the heavy but much needed wake up.
Watching this has changed my mind about my sense of powerlessness, and hardened my resolve to work for a changed world. The work of imagining a new world order is the next step... I wonder if someone could write a novel (that's really good) but also captures this?
The Overstory by Richard Powers
I'm in a funk no doubt. This year has been an exhaustive time both on the front lines and in the back room. Soooo we are creating through indigenous arts bringing stories to life, a rememberance, a presence for now and the next 7 generations. Not always kittens and puppies ❤❤❤ not a simple task. Daniel thanks for the update and brilliance that you bring to the table.
spoken like a true woman
Being active, moving the body, and strength training for muscles that last into your middle age and beyond, are important for leaving a funk. Movement is medicine.

Yes, but don't be a disciple. Every single one of us holds a piece to the puzzle and Daniel, though a visionary, holds only one piece.
He is just another utopian clown shilling for the establishment while pretending to be against it. It's just communism.
when I hear DS speaking, it’s like one of those rare moments when I recognize near perfect resonance with another mind and perspective. I agree with everything he says- except I think he could take it a step further. there is something he still does not see.
in 2018, I began speaking with groups about a “meta-solution” to the hyper-objects (“meta-crises”) which encompass our world. I would pose the question: after observing 30 years of working and operating (and being very depressed at times) within the environmental crisis movement-I’ve been driven to a most fundamental question: why isn’t it working? why aren’t we changing fast enough? why is there this deep collective resistance?
that is the question I’ve been focusing on for at least the last 7 years
and I’ve come to a set of conclusions that includes but also goes beyond what DS is saying
we have to keep asking ourselves if our consciousness is aligned with what is most real
What are the set of conclusions that go beyond what Daniel is saying?
GOAT material for sure 🥋 Let's get it fam. 💗
Some initial thoughts:
> Knowledge of the acute condition we are in needs to reach more people.
Wow that was such a great and important talk, so well articulated by Daniel. I’ve shared this across social as I think it’s critical.

Finally, somebody to inspire me. I just want to hang out with this guy and anybody like him.
Yes, this sentient being heard the words that I half expected from Daniel, as one longs to join a massive current into the Oceans of Abundant Compassion.
what a wonderful human being Daniel is, a true gift to this broken and beautiful world
too much of a sad boy for my liking
we focus too much on the messengers and not enough on the message
I feel it relates to wanting & waiting to be saved, rather than taking our salvation into our own hands.

@@weseeclearly777I think it's because many of us lack a sense of belonging in our lives. It's only natural, but a symptom of a much deeper issue. One should beware of idolization. Respect and admire the messenger, but focus on the message. There's no salvation to be found online.
Damn he really got the philosopher look down these days. Love the guy.

Having vision that clear must be painful a lot of the time
He’s so adamant about reminding people to “hold both.” So, holding pain in balance with the beauty.
This needs to be on television
You won't find this on circus channels.
Nobody watches television anymore. UA-cam is replacing television
It is still a problem for those who recognise the real complexity of our upcoming calamity being ridiculed in the press for their opinions and the information they present, particularly in the US and less so in other "Western democracies"
I am so grateful to you for exposing the scale of the problem. Nobody is facing up to the gulf between what we have to do and what governmental or commercial interests will permit.
So grateful for this talk
This moved me
That last bit about healthy depression informed action is actually about "shared responsibility" (vs. the distributed/legal responsibility we've been conditioned to), which is such a crucial topic that hardly anyone talks about. It's what aligns us w/Gaia in more healthy relationship.
The economy grow financially and socially, indefinitely, if we convert from quanititative growth model to a qualitative growth model: not more of anything, but better of everything. It means the "expansion" of culture and economy into the dimension of complexity.
really aware, conscious and real Daniel Schmachtsnberger 👌🏼
😌 This is so validating to witness. Seed this everywhere you possibly can. ✌️
Thank you for the recomendation at the end!
Thank you!
“It is easier to imagine the end of the world than it is to imagine the end of capitalism “
This is so important. Thank you so much.
YES to the call to action
So powerful!
I cant control the government, but i can, for now, protect the forest i live in, recycle the waste i produce, avoid plastic, plant gardens and maintain my life long love and respect of the natural world that surrounds me.
Wow that was deep and very real. Time to move!
