I am not really interested in guns, but your voice, manner and cadence is just so pleasing that I now watch videos about guns. You should be a professional narrator
It may be the first time you’ve heard about your voice.. I can say that I am a bing bang human and I do really enjoy the content you put out for us all. You do a great job of explaining and making quality videos. And your voice and the cadence of your way of speaking is really that good. 👍 🇺🇸 🦬 🚜 🌲
Kari - Yeah but do you like southern style biscuits and gravy? 😕 You can't just jump in here and smooth talk a man and think you get full hillbilly status that quick.... There are rules ya know.
Haha! We tested those slugs on Taofledermaus and had similarly disappointing results. I’ve become very skeptical of anything made by Brenneke these days. Great video, Buffalo!
Thanks for stopping by O.G.! I enjoy the tests you guys do, Jeff sure makes me long for a true high speed camera. I missed the one where you tested these though. Gonna look it up!
At least his were flying straight. We tested our when it was around 90 deg outside and they all tumbled except the one we soaked in ice water for about 10 minutes.
I’m impressed at how true they flew. They put perfect holes in that target. I wonder if they expand when shot into a meat target. I don’t know how the old lead slugs expand but I do know by personal experience that they are devastating on a hog. Slug size hole on the way in but a tennis ball size hole on the way out.
I have a 20 ga Maverick 88 Bantam youth 24" rifled barrel shotgun with a Vortex Diamonback scope and I shoot Hornady 250 gr slugs and have no issues what so ever zeroing at 100 yrds!! My other 20 ga Maverick 88 Bantam is my turkey gun with a Vortex Strikefire Red dot scope ,shooting the Fed Prem TSS 7/9 shot ,on 4/13/24 I shot a 25.4lb ,11 1/8" beard Tom at 50 yrds dropped Him in his tracks!! I Love my 88's ,lightweight, short and Great for the Price !!😁😍
Perhaps the slug didn't expand, Buff, because you used the wrong brand of ballistic water. 🤓 As always, I love your Greater Good reminder and the banjo music that you close your videos with. 👍
I’ve looked all over my area and can’t find any. That said your video will certainly keep me searching. Thanks for sharing and enjoying all your videos .
Ye old Maverick 88! I gave my brother a Field & Security as a house warming gift 25 to 30 years ago when he moved into his house. He's shot the 💩 out of that gun, and it still as savage as it was on day one! 😊 Thank you for the awesome entertainment brother.
Whenever i see your name i think about buffalos walking around outdoors...."hey look theres some buffalos outdoors". Not that they would ever be indoors, well maybe you never know.
"Say, Beau! Where'd your shoes fly off to?" Sabot is a type of shoe, made of wood. Think clogs, but French. It's where the English language gets the word "sabotage"; because of disputes between workers and their bosses, they'd use their shoes to literally halt production.
"if you want to correct me, go ahead and say it in the comments. I helps with the algorithm" 🤣 Best ever, Buffalo! I think those clean holes in the target are going to translate into good blood trails on game. nothing bleeds like a clean hole. The Maverick 88 is one of the best values in shotguns EVER. Thanks, Buffalo! Merry Christmas to you and your family
Neat slug. Sabots are typically two-piece affairs that separate in flight. The sabots in these rounds look more like the wad columns we see in steel shot loads. They seem to work fine. I'm just a little reluctant to call them sabots. Great video, Buffalo. I'm looking forward to seeing more slugs tested.
@@buffalosoutdoors I just about have to have optics on a long barrel or have the eye doctor create me a new eye. Getting old sucks. What is funny is I was watching the old video and then this one popped up, strange 🍺
Well I can say this great video and correction for the loose sights. I would say that would drill and animal deep, probably too hard to white tail and not enough expansion but it would still leave a big wound channel. Once again Thankyou.
Check the screws on any gun. I have bunches of 1873 Colt clones and they can get loose every now and then. Got a Colt specific screwdriver set to keep from damaging heads. I have a handful of 500s and run mostly slugs and cast roundball. Been looking at the rifled 88. Wish it was drilled and tapped for scope base though. Love your vidios.
Thanks! As you can imagine I get corrected for my pronunciations a lot being on YT but given the context anyone with any common sense can figure out what I'm talking about. Yet they get all bent out of shape...LOL Thanks for the comment!
Thats sweet, now i know how to get the slug. Thanks, ive been looking for slugs to replace the lightfields, mavericks and mossy 500 are my go to. The lightfields i loved are nolonger being made. I just have a dozen left so ive been looking for the best slugs for the gun.
@Buffalo, great video as usual. Love that rifle, I have the same one. Never shot those Super Sabots before. Grest data. I think it would be wild if you, Jeff and Greg did a video together. God bless.
I have a Maverick 88 Security Model, with 18 1/2" barrel and five shot magazine tube. I also have a Mossberg 590 Retrograde, with 20" barrel, heat shield and bayonet lug. I like them both very well. These are good, serviceable shotguns. They are reliable and easy to clean and maintain. The Mavericks are a real bargain.
I would love to see the classic Brenneke slugs on the shelf for less than $10.00 plus tax for a 5 pack. They may be even higher now...that was some time ago...
Good to know about the sights working loose and how to fix the problem - thanks! As far as the slug not expanding, not a big deal because it makes a large .63 caliber hole so it's not really bullet failure. If anything it will drive through the toughest bones and penetrate deeper, where other typical lead Foster type slugs will flatten out and penetrate less. Thanks for another great video.
having owned, shot, reloaded so many firearms it my opinion the 12 pump shotgun is as nearest to the perfect firearm with only limited on distance. what center fire firearms can you hunt small game, game birds, deer, boar, bear, moose anything in north America and much around the world with the same firearm?. None . the center fires would be under and overkill. I didn't even mention self defense applications.if I didn't own a shotgun I would by dinner time tomorrow. I greatly enjoyed the video. PAPA WISHING YOU WELL. 😊
Good video as always. The older style Brennekes did well years back. Sometimes its best to not try & improve something if it works. Thanks & stay safe. Happy Holidays. 💥🎯👍🙏
Buffalo, I found your channel because of mention by Taofledermause. I’m really glad I did. You’re entertaining, knowledgeable, and maybe even a better shot than O.G.! 😁
Good evening buffalo . We dont see you as often these days. Ihave a similar slug barrel for a Mossberg but it is setup for a scope. Ive never shot it yet.
My friend who was a sniper for a law agency got a wild hare to deer hunt with slugs. He did the 500 and had a riffled barrel and cantilever scope mount. He shot and hand loaded every slug he could find. The sabot rounds loaded hot as fire would hold about 2 to 4 moa. Sometimes a little better but the average. Foster slugs would do 4 to 6 moa. He got a lot of deer with it. I find foster slugs in my 870s to be very accurate at 50 to 75 yards.
I see comments on the price of those slugs but if your in big bear , wolf , mountain lion , moose country the $$ is well worth saving your/friends butt(s) !
9.45 Ooooohhhwweeee.... that looks painful. Getting shot with this would hurt!?! 😂 Get your things in order and call your momma. It's over!!! Good start on full length videos again!
I thought must gun manufacturers only used super short screws in sights so by the time it was noticeable loose the screw was gone forever in the grass. LOL
A shotgun that I am curious about is the Ithaca Model 37 Deerslayer. One version has rifle sights, another has a cantilever scope mount, but both have fixed barrels and are reported to be very accurate. If you ever get the chance to review one, it should be interesting. The guns are a bit pricey, though.
Nice video thank you ! I wonder what would be the accuracy difference with conventional foster slugs in your smooth bore maverick 88 and your rifled one !?

@@taofledermaus I watched your video again and that was crazy!
That was a great camera shot from behind those milk jugs, making it rain like you did.
Ballistic tap water is hard to come by. You were lucky to find it in Kentucky.
It's too expensive in Florida so we use generic orange soda.
True! LOL
Ballistic tap water?!?!🤣😂 That was great, Buffalo!
🤣 glad you liked that!

Great show as always. Good info. Thanks.

Man, a couple of those sabot’s could’ve been my toys growing up, they’re so purdy it’s almost a crime to shoot😂

Keep an eye on your site is always good advice for anybody shooting ha ha ha great video, buffalo!
Side note, the phrase you say at the end of all your videos is being put to the test in Ireland.
That was an excellent presentation, thank you for sharing.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Those punched clean holes in the target like a wad cutter
brenneke are amazing. great for squirrels. brenneke has a slug for 12,16,20,28 & 410.
Thank you..

I have this exact setup and it loves the Magnum crush and Black Magic loads. Unfortunately I’m hooked on auto loaders now so it just collects dust.
Thanks for another interesting video. Take care.
I always look forward to your videos.
Awesome, glad to hear that!
Id also like to see slug accuracy compared to a cylinder bore 88 security

OMG neighbor, I use tactical pond water in IGA & Walmart milk jugs as well as Milo's tea. May not be scientific but at least it's a standard for me
It makes for a fine test medium for a hillbilly like me! I hear the pond water is more environmentally friendly than the tap variety.

Good to see you sir. Great content as always. 60+ caliber doesn't shrink! Seems decent on accuracy. Thank you.
👍😊🎯 being that most high powered rifle only goes through 3-4 water jugs tho expanding but that slug was 68 cal .
It went deep!
Sweet looking slug. I think the slug looks cooler without expanding.
