@@roguereacts You won't regret it. My Mister starts out quite dark, but after couple of episodes, you'll find out how good the drama is - and of course her acting.
IU is releasing her EP on the 20th, the same day Moonbyul's full album comes out. Fun fact - IU has said that the big note at the end of Good Day where she goes up twice, they asked her to do it for a joke, but she didn't realise they were joking and just did it, so they kept it. I love this woman.
Oh don't you worry we will be checking it out for sure!! 🥰 HAHA I love how she basically was like 'okay bet' and just does it perfectly, that's amazing LOL
to put it in a context : IU debuted in Loen Entertainment, its outside of big 4 agency that time (DSP, YG, SM, JYP), Loen is primarily a music distributor, and its artist agency side is just midsize company. Thats why Lost Child's MV is not super good. Fast forward to 2010, and IU got her big break with Nagging (featuring Im Seulong), Its You (duet with Sung Si Kyung), and Good Day. Her rise in 2010 - 2011 was just soooooo rapid, she went from a rising star rookie in 2009 to a superstardom, until nearly reaching "national singer" status in 2011- mid 2012. Maybe its like NewJeans rise in 2021-2023 last year?? But this was VERY different bcs its still on TV era, so people REMEMBER it with their body and soul. Thats why those three "fantastical" pop-orchestral Good Day - You and I - Red Shoes have super high production value MV(AND mUSIC!!). Bcs the company got soooo much money from iu's skyrocketed popularity.
IU scored her 98th win with her latest release-Love Wins All. When she releases Music, everyone just moves out of the way. She is also doing a World Tour this year. I've been a Fan for 5 years now. Coin is a personal fave. She is amazing
as she should!!!!! Love Wins All MV will be on Wednesday, it was absolutely amazing! Also I will tell you a little secret... Coin is on the bside playlist 😉 but don't tell anyone! 👀
OH WOW... I have known the name IU for a few months now. I watched Hotel Del Luna and a song there had caught my attention so I shazamed it and found out the name, later to realize she was the lead actress in the show. So I decided to check her out but got so overwhelmed with how many songs she has and where to start so I was so happy when u said u were gona dive deep into her. I've been waiting since for this series and wow she did NOT disappoint, incredible.. can't wait to see more.
Great first choice for soloists! IU is also known as the Nation's Little Sister. You'll need to see some of her behind the scenes stuff, she has a great personality! She's also got a great working relationship with her bodyguard!

I THINK she was sixteen when she filmed 'Good Day'. I could be wrong. I am pretty sure she counts as Second Gen K-Pop. She has been in it for fifteen years now, almost as long as Girls Generation and KARA.
Where Do I start in providing a lityle background to IU? I discovered her over 3 years ago as the actress IU, in the outstanding kdrama My Mister. From thhere I watched her in another outstanding kdrama Hotel Del Luna (both are on Netflix). Then I found out she was a singer and I have been living happily in the IU rabbit hole ever since. Yes she debuted in 2008 at the age of 15. She started auditioning when she was 13 and was rejected 20 times, scammed twice before signing with a small company she debuted 10 months later with Lost Child. Her debut did not go well, she was jeered called names etc. The lost showed off her vocal talent but the subject matter was the issue. Kpop fans were not ready or interested in hearing a 15 year old girl sing about a romantic breakup. The MV you reacted to was made at the time the song was but wasn't released until almost 3 years later, after the success of Good Day. She had 2 #1 hits in 2010 Good Day and Nagging. And snice then she has had over 32 #1 hits in Korea more than twice as many as any other kpop group or artist. Her album Modern Times was voted by Billboard as the Best Kpop Album of the 2010's and the 2nd Best Album on their Top 100 Global Album charts. With the release of Loves Wins All IU has tied BTS with the most songs debuting at #1. And no female kpop group or artist has ever achieved that. The New Yorks has mentioned IU several times since 2014. And she has never given a concert in the US. That is until this July when her World Tour will make 6 stops in the US. In 2014 the Times wrote that IU was showing the way forward for Kpop. And in 2018 in an article on music influence on culture the listed the 25 most influential artist in the world. IU was listed 9th. Igave bern telling anyone who woukd listen that IU is one of the best vocalist in the world today. Last January Rollong Stone Magazine when even further adding her to their list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time. Regarding the MV's. You and I was released in 2011 and is about time travel. IU finishes a time machine her grandfather started. The boy is in some kind of state, so IU is going to travel to the further where she thinks or knows he will be awake. She sets the date Dec 31st 2019 8 years ahead. In 2019 she releases and album Love Poem which contains 2 songs that are continuation of You and I. The first is Above the Time. Her plan didnt work out like she wanted. While they are both awake they are in different dimensions. The 2nd song Blueming continues the story, where they are now in the same time and dimension but are separated by a wall. In 2021 she released a single Strawberry Moon which many, including me consider to be the final part. There are a couple of other songs that are connected to telling a story as well. She took over control of her music in 2013. Her 1st album was one where she wrote all the songs, composed most and produced the Album. As good as she sounds recorded she soungs even better live. Her Love Poem concert is iconic and her performances are outstanding. There are a numberr of clips available of this concert. She became the first female artist to headline a concert at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, which was the Golden Hour Concert in Sept of 2022. There is so much more but I will stop here for now. Look forward the rest of your IU reactiin week.
I love the fairy tale quality that IU's releases have kept throughout her career, even though her style has matured and changed a lot. It's great to see a thread like that run through an artist's career. Good Day was ittt for me. The second I heard those crunchy OTT footsteps in the sound design plus the parrot casually outing her like that, I was sold as a fan 😂 It's just so fun! Back in those days I had a dress that was a similar cut to her iconic red dress in Good Day that I used to call my IU dress 😂 The aesthetics in You and I are amazing. The whimsy, the Hugo-esque clockwork, IU's little tardis 😂 its all so mystical. Also the instrumentalll ❤❤ Mayhaps, we'll see how the story ends at a later date 🧐😉 As a ex-jazz singer who also grew up learning ballet, The Red Shoes is basically everything I want in life. This MV also gives off Hugo vibes. If you don't know, there is a famous ballet based on the myth of the red shoes where the shoes are cursed and don't stop dancing. I grew up watching it on video 😂. Also the instrumental againnnn❤❤😂 That is all. Modern Times is one of my favourite kpop albums of all time 👨🍳💋 I've watched the Good Day, You and I and The Red Shoes MVs soooo many times!! The story telling is just peak 2nd gen MVs. A good chonky MV * big ol sideeye to current mvs being so short lol * Bbibbi is just adorable, she's basically telling the public to take a chill pill and that celebrities deserve privacy too. This came out after IU entered a new era in her career where she had more creative control. She gives off more of a singer/songwriter vibe in this era, which I love There really weren't many soloists around back in 2nd gen, and even less who weren't also in a group. The fact that she managed to break out and maintain a successful career as a soloist all the way through is very impressive. 90% of popular soloists in kpop are from already popular groups or got popular from reality shows first.
I 1000% appreciate the story telling she puts into every MV! It's just soooo well done and just makes you think about every little thing she expresses not only in her songs but the videos as well! I will say the tomorrow's MVs I love just as much if not more! They have all been fantastic! 🥰
You are right about you and i she time travelled there. There is a sequel of you and i with title above the time. Lost child is a gem but k-pop couldn't digest it that time. Her company was highly criticised for selecting a dark theme song for 15 year old child and on the debut stage she was dissed by audience badly. But that 15 year old girl still completed her song on stage despite of being mentally harassed by audience. And now she is n. 1 artist not only in k-pop but also a very respected artist in korean music industry at this young age.
Good Day - the song and mv that made her a superstar at 17 and really signaled to Korea that this was someone special - and all she's done is become the single biggest soloist in Korea with 20 no. 1 hits, more than any soloist or group in Kpop history. (It also dominated all of the awards shows that year). As for The Red Shoes - it's inspired by not only a Hans Christian Anderson story, but also a classic 1940s film about a ballerina that puts on a pair of red shoes that makes her a star - but demands her soul - and in this case it causes IU to fall off a balcony.
Good Day - that triple high note is absolutely iconic. The older man in that M/V is a famous Korean musician, and I believe this song was a gift from him. This song was Rolling Stone Magazine's Best KPop song of the 2010s; absolutely well deserved. The Red Shoes - inspired by the legend of magical shoes that cause the wearer to dance, eventually uncontrollably. BBIBBI - a song to IU's fans and social media and whatnot that take things a little too far sometimes. She's basically saying "look here; this is the line. If you cross it *whistle* yellow card!"
About "You&I" (2011) ... Yes, she is time travelling, jumping 8 years to December 31, 2019 (shown in the time travel machine); and make sure you are reviewing "Above the Time" (release around November 2019), which is the Act 2 of this song: not only the dimension of time, but also space as well. You will probably see the parallel between the 2 MVs, too. Difference between the two time period: She is writing her own song's lyrics later in her career, sometimes even melodies, and even doing producing.
Thank you and welcome to the IU-VERSE, Lost child! is an interesting song, the singing and the song are great, video is impressive, but was ahead of the time so, it was considered to dark for a teenager, so they came back with more bubblegum-ish like songs. The most famous of her youth is good day she was 17 for good day! IU has had it rough in her infancy, but also in her 20 when lost 3 dear friends. Finally good day is about a young girl with a crush on someone a little older than her, so unrequited love! U and I can be considered part 1 of an interesting story to be completed years later with above time. So IU is very creative. Could go on and on. You and I, is about time travelling to the when he would wake up. She marks a specific time of the day to meet, then she goes but due to some time travelling side effect she forgets part of her plan till she he him. red shoes is based in the fairytale story. BBIBBI is of course from a more mature IU, and is about pushing back on haters, tabloids and establishing a line not to be crossed. IU can sing basically anything and she's very curious and like to experiment different genres.
Thank you for reacting and meeting the living legend IU. There is no artist on the planet like her. I warn you that it is a one-way trip... She has so much for them to discover about her that she's awesome. I hope you like it and enjoy the trip... There's no one like it. Best regards
IU is one of my absolute comfort artist and she is a legend in korea, she always puts so much emotions in her music and she seems like such a genuinely good person (And she‘s an amazing actress as well, ‚My Mister‘ is probably my favorite k-drama)
Get the tissues out for the new MV The Lady almost didn't age and can pass for a highscholler even today. I just started watching Heroes - no clue where that goes - I think her first variety gig as the maknae of the group (there may be one in her age, but the others are all older. And if you got too much time at your hands watch Hyoris Homestay. The first season was with a little puppy IU, the second with Yoona (from SNSD),.
iu is ... maybe one of the most important singer in S.Korea (she landed more than 30 (thirty) number 1 songs in South Korea chart!), in last 15 years, and this is already beyond her "vocal". she has this "wholesome" quality in personality, lyrics, visual, vocal, music, and even career story that captivate sooo many ppl in South Korea and world she's a "people's" celebrity, not only "fandom's" celebrity ... I think your 2 videos of A-side(s) wont be enough, but well... thank you for everything :)
You'll already know by now that she has basically had a song in every genre. She is insanely diverse and much of that has come under her creative direction. In essence, she's been calling the shots on her career since she was roughly 20 years old, and is now considered one of the most talented vocalists, songwriters, and actresses in South Korea.
'Lost Child' is interesting. The MV is a telling of the Greek tale of Orpheus and Euridice. Orpheus seeks his dead bride in the underworld and tames the spirits with his beautiful singing voice. Sixteen years later the group NewJeans produced the MV 'Cool With You', a telling of the classical story of Cupid and Psyche.
Now that you've barely scratch the surface, her discography that you're yet to discover is just gonna get better and better and will blow your mind. Welcome to the rabbit hole 😉
IU topped my Spotify Wrapped the last 3 years. I never considered myself a big IU fan, but her music is just the thing I need. After work, on a Sunday morning, while cleaning or cooking, when sitting on my couch, while on public transportation, while taking a bath... it kinda adds up.
I have 245 songs of IU in my playlist and there is not one bad song in it. For 15 years, it's like I've lived my every moment with her soothing voice which makes my life calm and peaceful. It's a really unexpected fortune for me to meet her in this life.
damn, lee jieun hasnt aged at all~ the guy doing instruments in good day is a famous korean jazz pianist/composer/musician who debuted in 1995. fun fact number 1. you&i my beloved. (btw, not the same actor as the one in good day. but you will see him again in the sequel if thats in the list) also, it super is about time travel, no need to doubt yourself xd jumpscared by jang kiyong in the red shoes. i didnt remember that in the slightest. also, you heeyeol? consecutive antenna guys.. too many antenna guys in these, now that im thinking about it🤔
The one sad thing is IU will no longer perform Good Day along with Palette and Marshmellow as part of her main set as those songs have been retired. Hopefully she will do at least Good Day on the US tour at least once perhaps as part of an encore as the last time she performed this song here was at KCON 2014.
Fun Fact 1: lost girl is called "Mia" in korean. She was so unknown at the time that some of the press thought her name was Mia and the song was called IU. Fun Fact #2: Billboard Magazine did their Best 100 Kpop Songs of the 2010's and Good Day came out #1.
A scene in her 'Love Wins All' mv has IU on stage in a wedding dress as hooded figures boo and jeer her. She half-jokingly complained to the director that she hasn't been jeered on stage since her debut (Lost Child) sixteen years ago and reliving the experience was triggering.

iu is ... maybe one of the most important singer in S.Korea (she landed more than 30 (thirty) number 1 songs in South Korea chart!), in last 15 years, and this is already beyond her "vocal".
she has this "wholesome" quality in personality, lyrics, visual, vocal, music, and even career story that captivate sooo many ppl in South Korea and world
she's a "people's" celebrity, not only "fandom's" celebrity ...
Wow Thanks !! !My favorite IU 💜 She is the Best actor and performer
245songs? Wow!,,
You Should React to IU - BBIBBI Explained by a Korean by DKDKTV, and also he has the explanation of the song Eight by IU
damn, lee jieun hasnt aged at all~
the guy doing instruments in good day is a famous korean jazz pianist/composer/musician who debuted in 1995. fun fact number 1.
you&i my beloved. (btw, not the same actor as the one in good day. but you will see him again in the sequel if thats in the list) also, it super is about time travel, no need to doubt yourself xd
jumpscared by jang kiyong in the red shoes. i didnt remember that in the slightest.
also, you heeyeol? consecutive antenna guys.. too many antenna guys in these, now that im thinking about it🤔
The one sad thing is IU will no longer perform Good Day along with Palette and Marshmellow as part of her main set as those songs have been retired. Hopefully she will do at least Good Day on the US tour at least once perhaps as part of an encore as the last time she performed this song here was at KCON 2014.
Oh wow.... I can see how as she comes out with newer songs, some will get retired. But Good Day is great! Hope she does do it as an encore song 🥰
Yes, amazing ! Thank you voters for voting for IU.
And Thank you for your reaction to her !
💜💜💜💜
It was almost a landslide in the voting, and I can see why!!! It's going to be a fun week of exploring some of her work! 💙
Thank you for reacting to IU.. More IU please especially her live clips❤❤❤

A scene in her 'Love Wins All' mv has IU on stage in a wedding dress as hooded figures boo and jeer her. She half-jokingly complained to the director that she hasn't been jeered on stage since her debut (Lost Child) sixteen years ago and reliving the experience was triggering.
IU yes!!!!
woo!!! 🥰
Can’t wait for part 2.
today! 💙💙💙

good day is song of the year 2010 & 2011🤟🏻
can I recom some other solo singer....??
Absolutely!!
@@roguereacts reaksion : Ailee
And this is the title of the song:
