- If you get wistful whenever you hear "Moon River," then you'll love this mini-biography of Andy Williams, the man who lent his voice to the classic tune. Over the course of a long career, Andy Williams brought his unique vocal stylings to generations of fans.
Was a pleasure to listen to him. He was a classy entertainer.
I was the band leader, arranger and conductor for the Osmonds back in the 90’s. We got to work with Andy a bit. He was such a good man. Several of his band members were my close friends. It was always such a treat to hear him sing.
Oh what a voice! So blessed that my mother, a classically trained musician included several Andy Williams albums as part of my music education. Just a few years before Mr. Williams passed ... I had the joy of taking my family to see his Christmas show in Branson. My two sons were invited up on stage along with several other children to join Andy in a Christmas sing along. Today they are aged 29 and 26 and still talk about 'that moment' with Andy Williams. Priceless!
Wonderfully handsome and a voice as smooth as silk, he will never be forgotten. Right up there is Bing, Perry, and Sinatra!
I would add James Darren to that line up. After hearing him sing on Deep Space 9 I was blown away.
Don’t forget dean.
He was a Handsome Man Beautiful Blue eyes and Dimples when he smiled MY FAVORITE Song was can't get used to losing you his Voice was so easy to listen to 😍💖❤💞💜
Thank you for the memories. I grew up listening to Andy Williams and every Christmas his TV show was a must see. Handsome and charming he was. Lovely video. "Moon River" my favorite song.
I went to high school in Burbank, CA, near the NBC studios where he filmed his TV show in the late Sixties. They'd post notices at the high school, inviting us to come watch him film. The producers knew a bunch of teen girls would certainly be enthusiastic about this darling man. I went often. I recall how naturally gifted he was: that voice just oozed out of him with no effort. He'd come out on the stage and joke with us for a few minutes, then turn, walk to his mark on the stage, and just start singing. No warm up. Just pure talent. Thank you, Andy, for all you gave us.
Watched when I was just a kid
I use to watch The Andy Williams Show and I never Missed an Episode's. He'll be remembered forever and ever.. Amen..
For me, by far, the best voice, the best interpreter, who was able to take over each letter of a song and turn it into poetry, rest in peace.
RIP Andy, one of the very best of voices and some of the most beautiful songs.
His blue eyes just penetrated right through you just like my hubby and I'd voice was just beautiful ‼️ He's gone now just like all the rest just Rest In Peace all of you and once again thank you ‼️‼️
My husband and I went to see him perform in Seattle in the mid- nineties. The weather was horrendous. It had snowed heavily that day and the roads were very icy. Mr Williams thanked those who had ventured out and gave us one of the best performances. It was a magic night for me. I remember growing up watching him and seeing him in person was such a thrill for me.
Kathy M. You have my name lol. Because there are three Kathy masters in my family (2 by marriage) we have a Kathy G, a Kathy P and me Kathy M so we know who we are talking about. Couldn’t help sharing. Have a blessed day!!!
Andy Williams was an amazing singer, probably in the top three of all time. I love the way he was always so relaxed and comfortable on stage which is a true gift. No only did he have a fantastic range but his voice was always tuneful, mellow and truly beautiful. Simply brilliant!!
Loved Andy WIlliams. "Moon River" was one of my favorite songs as a child.
VFX Todd My two favorites are Can’t Get Used To Losing You and Music To Watch Girls By.
VFX Todd Me too☹️
Andy Williams was the greatest crooner of them all ( Sinatra said so). He had a four octave range. He was handsome and a voice of honey. It was effortless. He was also a good person. He stood by his ex the mother of his children. He raised huge sums for charity. I saw him in concert in London. RIP my childhood idol. Say hi to Cookie Bear.
The greatest ever
Time seems to wait for nobody, our later years catch up with us suddenly, nature always has something more, for the sincere at heart, we never need to worry about a single thing, it knows a great deal more than we could ever, so relax the best is yet ahead!

I doubt Sinatra said it, too full of herself and, in my opinion, far too overrated. However, it's not that we needed him to say it. Andy and his good friend Bobby Darin were the greatest and always will be.
As a teenager, none of my friends could understand my fascination with Andy, Frankie, and Dino! Spent all my allowance on their albums! Later, because of golf I came to know them all! Andy was a wonderfully intelligent, FUN person! Nothing he loved more than singing to a grateful audience! And his voice was absolutely beautiful!
Always seemed like a lovely man
Talent will be remembered
I grew up listening to Andy Williams great voice and entertainer he really knew what he was talking about he is missed as all the entertainers of his time he is among greatness ....he and my dad were about the same age I was born in 1951 so I grew up with all the greats and I truly miss them thank you for sharing
I remember watching his shows as a child with my family. Good memories❤️
At the age of 17 I fell in love with his song Dear Heart. No one could ever sing that song but him.
I always took him off as a kind and humble man. RIP DEAR ❤
Always loved Andy Williams music. Timeless & beautiful. 🥰
Very nice tribute. Andy's voice is quintessentially American. Born in Iowa, lived in New York and Los Angeles and died in Branson, Missouri. Moon River is an amazing song and his interpretation is the best.
I sang and danced for him for two years at his theater in Branson, Mo. He was a fantastic man.
I loved those days past when TV was wholesome and pure, entertaining and authentic of beautiful talent. Andy was one of my special entertainer to watch
I fell in love with Andy as a young girl watching his Tonight Show and loving every minute of it . His voice made me melt and his version of Moon River was amazing. What a great man with a gorgeous voice.
Andy William will and always be the greatest crooner of music!! His voice is angelic, his tonation is off the chart!! Keep resting in heaven my dear!! God only knows how big a superstar you were !!I will always love you!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹💯💯💯💯
I remember watching his show as a kid and young teen. Always liked Andy. I miss those days so much.
Andy made one of the greatest Christmas hits, 'It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year', which should've remained untouched by other artists.
Amen, I love that Christmas song...one of the best ever!
It was for a movie of the same name with Henry Winkler, a must see for Christmas!
He was Mr Christmas afterall, wasn't he? 💖💖
I agree. It’s just not Christmas without the music of Andy Williams.
Johnny Mathis sings it better.
I was born in 1956, in time to be part of the Beatles generation and I was. I didn't care for Bing Crosby, or Frank Sinatra, but I always loved the songs Andy Williams sang. He always struck me as a lovely, lovely man with a beautiful voice that touched my soul.
In the mid 60's my dad only played two albums Christmas mornings.. Andy's and Bing's. I still play the two myself every year for my wife and daughter :)
KAREN CARPENTER should also be a must..
I'm a huge fan of this man. Mr Williams Sir you have left us too soon but you have left us your legacy, your amazing voice and wonderful memories. Thank you Sir xxx
His Christmas songs are still my favorite, it’s just not right without his beautiful voice!
The man with the golden voice...singing was so effortless for him.
Andy was a wonderful singer his music was therapeutic to the sole, what a great loss ..
Yes
Terry Strahl - I know what you meant "soul", instead of sole.
Many Blessings!
its not Christmas season till I hear , the most wonderful time of the year"
Beautiful smile, captivating blue eyes, and above all, the smoothiest voice ever.
I still remember being in a department store and hearing Andy Williams singing, "Some Children See Him." Such a beautiful voice and an impression from that song that won't leave me.
“Can’t keep my eyes off of you” was his greatest song. It brings back memories, when I met my much loved, departed wife. It was sort of our song. Circa mid ‘60’s
Hope the beautiful memories and the music are a great comfort!
Thanks for sharing, love the channel. I always watched the Christmas specials he had they were great. Will remember his great talent forever!!😍
He never lost his "coolness "...he had a phenomenal vocal range. His rendition of "Speak Softly Love" the theme from The Godfather is peerless.
I really liked his show and the songs that he chose. He had a beautiful smile that he shared with us while singing. On one of the Christmas shows he just couldn’t keep his hands off of little Christian and kept wanting to kiss him and the little boy played right along with him. He was maybe 18 months old and a beautiful little blonde baby boy. He was definitely a hands on Daddy. Hard to think of him as being gone. His voice is timeless and the songs that he sang will live on forever. Thank you Andy for sharing your talent with us. RIP

Weren't there some Christmas shows with the King Family? I was in 1st grade..
Incredible smile, sensational voice. Dearly missed ❤❤❤
Phenomenal singer! Not many have ever been as smooth, effortless and unforced.
Loved his Christmas specials every year. The first song I remember from him was Lonely Street. I must have been around 5 when it was popular. I loved that song.
I had the great opportunity to grow up enjoying the wonderful music of Andy Williams. His beautiful music brought many enjoyable moments to my wife and I in our younger years.
The light hearted comedy and beautiful music made the Andy Williams Show a great success. Those were good years!
A wonderful film about a wonderful man. What a beautiful voice.
He had probably the best voice I have ever heard!
He gave the OSMOND BROTHERS their big break - and had a hit tv show on NBC.His show, also gave national exposure to popular black artists.
Wth do i keep watching stuff like this....it just makes u cry...😭😭😭
His songs are my videoke favorite .... since my childhood I was so crazy about his mellow voice,, you're always in our hearts Andy....RIP !
Loved the man & his music!
My adult life began with Andy williams. He made music that reminds me of my first love. His music remains today more pure than my first love. As it's suppose to be.
I loved Andy Williams voice. So clear and calming. I didn’t know about that Elvis Presley singing style on that one song. I loved that song but didn’t realize that was him singing it. Wow! And I loved his show, especially at Christmas time when his brothers and family were on. Very great entertainer in my book.
I grew up listening to Andy.Williams each week when he had his variety show. It was so entertaining to me even as a little boy.
And who can forget this performance of “Speak Softly Love”? Wow!
Loved his voice which was unique. Played him singing at my mother’s funeral. rest In Peace Andy.
A great show and a great voice. This brought back wonderful memories. Xx🌹 xx
My mom (RIP❤️) took me to see “Love Story” when it first came out in the theatre. I fell in love with the theme song sung by Andy Williams. When I was in college and heard “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, I knew I had to get home for Christmas. The music of Andy Williams still makes me stop whatever I’m doing and just enjoy the magic. RIP ❤️
Huge wave of nostalgia here.
A great beloved artist -ANDY WILLIAMS gave his beautiful voice and talent, remembered in the world forever....
He was a lovely gentleman.....and a wonderful singer!
God bless Andy Williams for sharing his talents - a live of deference and respect for all! ⭐️🙏💝
Can’t take my eyes off you... is my phone ringtone. Love, love love it. And the rest of his songs 🇬🇧
Grew up watching & listening to this great singer. Rip
Handsome man all his life beautiful blue eyes and a voice to match
I used to watch The Andy Williams Christmas Special on TV at my Aunt Charlotte's when I was a child - such a magical time - I will cherish the memories till I leave this Earth.
He was so good. He was kinda the first guy who crossed genres and did duets with other singers. Records, TV, song, dance, Vegas, Kennedy relations, married to a movie starlet,he did it all. Even hosted the Grammys for years- so cool
Great voice, liked him very much!
Thank you. I love your channel.
My parents never missed an Andy Williams show , which meant I didn't either
me too! but it was usually very good. P&L.
Same as me. In Norway.
Hi 🙂 My mum and dad loved Andy Williams. So did I. As an adult now and after Moon River.. ofcourse🙂My fav is still, Almost There.... Awww
We baby-boomers and parents were easily entertained back then. Excellent vid.
His song "Dear Heart" was played at my father's funeral. So special and emotional, as my mother had passed away a few years earlier and the words meant so much: "Soon I will kiss you hello, I'll leave your arms nevermore" Not a dry eye in the group. Mr Williams is GREAT!! They don't make them like that anymore, thanks for posting.
He was a handsome man n a beautiful voice. I never missed any of his shows on TV. He was a icon

Moon River & Can’t Get Used To Loosing You were two of my favorite songs! I had a crush on Andy in the early 70ies.
I will never believe any lies about Andy Williams. I watched his show faithfully after I was 12 yrs old and thought Claudine Longet was the most beautiful woman in the world.
He made wonderful music.
Brings back memories of romantic feelings, teenage crushes. I'll be searching UA-cam later.
Many singers male or female have this special...Carisma...that makes People feel comfortable☺❤
Cant Get Used to Losing You has got to be my favorite
🙂
I loved that song too.
I still get goose bumps when I hear him sing Moon River.
When my sister and I were kids, we would sing "Moon River" whenever we washed the dishes... made it fun!...
He will always be one of my all time favorites.
I've got both records that they mentioned in this and lots more of his records. They're all so wonderful!💕
Andy William’s father discovered The Osmond Brothers. The father insisted that they be part of Andy’s television show because they reminded him of the William Brothers. Both Williams and Osmonds had amazing careers. Jimmy Osmond bought Andy’s Branson Moon River theater who kept his show alive.
Yes i was there , i was young but i rember all his shows my mom and dad watched every week.
Thank you Alpha 11 for this wonderful life story of my favourite, Andy.
One of my parent's favourites ...Moon River will be played at my passing...
ANDY WILLIAMS VOICE MADE A LOT OF PPL HAPPY...INCLUDING ME. ❤🎶❤🎶❤🎶❤🎶❤🎶❤
RIP Andy, you are surely missed 😔😔😔
My parents took me to see him perform at the Mitchell, SD Corn Palace in 1964 when I was 14. It was the first time I saw a TV personality "in person" and I remember it fondly
Awesome memory! Thank you for sharing!
I watched this video yesterday, and last night we were eating dinner in a local diner, and I heard the song "Butterfly" by Andy Williams! I don't recall ever having heard it before (and even if I had I probably wouldn't have noticed it), but I thought it was rather ironic that I heard it on the same night as it was mentioned in a video I had watched that day, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't get played a lot these days!
I remember watching his show when I was younger. I always enjoyed them
Great great singer ... Excellent video
My mother made me suffer an Andy Williams record every Sunday dinner for years in the 70s and as a rock fan I developed an antipathy toward the man.
This video has changed that and now I intend to order at least a hits album soon. Well done as ever and thank you.
His version of Hawaiian Wedding Song is the best. His music was always playing in our house. I wish he had done more movies.
I loved his song "Christmas Eve, Christmas, Eve, Christmas Eve," but can never seem to find it. // Such a pleasant guy... his voice and 'presence' was wholesome and soothing.
Can't get over losing you...great tune that has survived the test of time.
Ohhh this made me feel very, very sad. I loved Andy Williams. I didn’t know he had passed away.
I did a Paul Anka TV show with him in the 1980s. He was a wonderful guy - so talented and so nice. No 'star' nonsense.
There was a longtime rumour that he had dubbed the husky singing voice of young Lauren Bacall in the movie, TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT in 1944 when he was only 16. We were going to use the clip on the TV show so we got a print of the film and watched it with Andy - who remarkably, had never seen the movie. After seeing the movie, (though he had recorded the song for it) he told us that was NOT his voice! He was a little surprised himself! We shared a good laugh about it.
He sang a yet unknown song on the show - MEMORY from CATS. No one had heard it before - it was so new, we had to contact the original London production to get the sheet music. When I recall that one great day working with him, I remember his smile and still great voice.
Awesome stories....thanks for sharing.....
Andy actually held a note longer than anybody I've ever seen. I timed him, 43 seconds!
His Christmas shows were wonderful
