I don't suppose you have any discount on the masterclass right now do you? I've looked at it and would love to sign up but Covid has close to killed my videography business so available money isn't what it used to be, which sucks big eggs! :(
Hi Grover! So sorry to hear that covid badly influenced your budiness. The masterclass is completely free to join though. If you are asking about the comprehensive Capture One course - please drop me an email hello@daclasses.com. I’m reviewing such requests on individual basis.
@@KasiaZmokla Thanks, I will do. I hate relaying such a story but alas it's true and I know it's hit many of us in the creative field, especially those who are lone shooters/editors etc.
Thank you once again, Kasia for another great tutorial video. A local adjustment brush is a big feature Ive been waiting for and really missed moving from LR to C1. For me this is a great addition to C1 and now surpasses LR with the ability to apply local adjustment brushes on a layer. Your C1 videos are easy to follow, and I appreciate edits on real life photos, applicable to our everyday photography.
Thank you Nigel! I can say that I'm quite sceptical when it comes to all these tools that are meant to somehow do the edit effortlessly. But must say that the Style Brushes are a nice surprise, they target one specific issue at time and the simplicity helps to keep everything tidy and under control. Similarly to C1 Styles, the Style Brushes are a great opportunity to see how this sort of adjustments are put together by Phase One professional photographers. Maybe it's just me but I love clicking through the tools to discover which adjustments were used to build up to particular result.
I did already make a custom style brush for dodging and burning my landscape photographs with the luma curve tool. It is much more refined and better then the standard build in style brush for burn and dodge that is based on the exposure tool.It realy is a faster way to edit the photographs. I will have to make some extra refined custom style brushes going further. We more and more becoming painters :))
That's an awesome idea! I'd do dodging and burning with Luma Curve, don't mind creating those layers quickly manually. But I like the new Style Brushes feature - as long as I know what is under the hood and how to tweak these adjustments if there is such a need ;)
To be honest i did copy your approach of dodging and burning using the luma curves some time ago and it does makes a big difference.🤗🤗🤗 Many thanks for that.
The game changer here is being able to link brushes with layers, I think; that saves a lot of time, as does the ability to save brush settings and adjustments as custom presets. The default brushes are somewhat heavy-handed though and I find myself adjusting layer opacity more often now, or tweaking the default brush settings themselves, even despite their low flow. In my opinion, if you want to stay within Capture One Country and not wander into Luminar Land, a good idea is to save your personal adjustments as custom brushes (thereby learning a lot, as you mentioned) until you no longer need or even want use the built-in versions. I've already abandoned most of the dodge/burn variations and created my own more straightforward and intuitive brushes for dodging and burning, just two. Ditto for the 'Add Detail' brush (I mean, who's ramping up Clarity/Structure to 60/40 respectively, right from the start? Indeed, I'm surprised that they didn't add 'Punch' as the default method). If you rely too much on the default brushes, many of which are redundant, you'll end up with a *lot* of layers to manage, which is counterproductive, despite their time-saving virtues; the editing process then becomes more laborious and confusing. Tip: create a floating tool for the Style Brushes and just leave it somewhere on your Tool Bar. That way you can grab a brush easily, just by expanding the tool, and simultaneously inspect all the settings C1 has under the hood for a particular brush, without having to scroll around so much. I was really excited about the new brushes at first, but have since then calmed down for the reasons given. Thanks for biting the bullet on this one, Kasia, regardless. Most of us, I think, after the novelty wears off, will be more interested in how YOU end up configuring your own personal brushes down the road and why. ;)
Thank you for sharing your personal point of view on Style Brushes, always appreciated! I've tested the Brushes feature for portrait, and yes - I find those features such as Dodging, Burning, Teeth Whitening and Eye enhancement useful, as they can save some time. But on the other hand it is not a rocket science to quickly create these very adjustments manually. Maybe I am old-school, but I don't think I will go in the direction of creating my own custom Style Brushes. These tools/ adjustments ALWAYS require fine tuning, so it makes sense to me that the brushes by default have strong settings and can be applied according to our liking. Probably when working with large batches of images creating custom Style Brushes could be useful, but I don't work that way and simply for every single image I'm creating my adjustments manually. Similarly to the Fast Edit feature - I find it awkward to force myself to use it, when I'm perfectly fine without it. So I'm aware that it is at my disposal, but have no need to incorporate it in my workflow. Maybe when the COVID goes away and we'll be able to travel freely I'll take a second look at it. Right now I'm good, hope it makes sense! Btw - just published new video on Style Brushes for landscape images - here I'd say they are not a must either (softly speaking) :))
Excellent video on the new style brushes. I'm still using capture one 20 as i didn't think that the additional features were worth an upgrade to my perpetual licence. These style brushes combined with the various other changes now make it hard to resist investing in CP21. Thx again.
Hi, Kasia. It´s a very good video. I think that brushes make the work easyer, but doesn´t do nothing that you can do before this improvment. Question: how are your improve with the course of color grading? (Please, don´t answer coming soon, give me a posible date). Once more time, thanks for your work.
Thank you Eduardo! Well, with the color course I cannot commit to a specific date at this stage yet. It is work in progress status, I'll take as much time as necessary before releasing. Please be patient! :)
i find that it takes me longer to edit photos because i end up using too many brushes. And because i use a pen in a touch screen it is even worse. The tool is convenient but you can go down a rabbit hole very easily.
If you are on a subscription - then yes, since you are paying monthly or annually and all updates are included. If you have to pay for a licence, I wouldn’t personally update, there are not enough new features that would be worth it. Current. version is 14.1.0.220

capture one Have tools HDR Photo Merge as Using Lightroom’s HDR Photo Merge
Hi Preecha! I'm assuming that was a question, if yes, then the answer is: no, Capture One does not support HDR merging so far.
