I was always sad that we didn’t get stats for aquatic boats in 3025. I always wanted to live the dream of shelling battlemechs with 16 inch guns from battleships 60 miles out to seas. Imagine what clanners would do, when their mechs start getting torn apart by battleships, and aircraft carriers?

That one Long Tom driver on the cliff just learned the hard way why you don't cheat on your Dropship pilot.
Best part about ppc urbies is that you can fit 8 in a leopard. 8 ppcs with low profile, 360 degree torso twist, and jump jets. That cost tens of dollars to repair or rebuild.
Reading this I pictured the PPC Urbies being mounted inside hatches where they took over as the turrets on the Leopard. Some aerojocks come flying in thinking the Leopard is unarmed and the hatches just open and SURPRISE! TURRET URBIE!* The Turret Urbie never leaves the ship cause it's too slow, but it serves as a great turret.
(*Like the Daedalus maneuver in Macross/Robotech only with Urbies)

@@drronin112 I mean they are sealed for vacuum you could just speed tape them to the outer hull. Build a pocket warship for about 500c-bills.

Even better, Paint up a Intruder class dropship to look like a Urbie Torso and call it "Urbie-zilla" and then weld scavenged Urbie torsos all over it to serve as turrets.
Using mechs vs asf is in fact considered a last ditch maneuver for dropships that have the hatches rated to survive opening to the vacuum of space. Problem is shots that slip past might touch off the open crated ammo storage in the leopard so it's quite last ditch unless you plan for releasing the mechs into space really early and your mech have vacuum rated jets 😉 generally though the mechs are by far outclassed by any asf.

I really hope tex gets his hands on the periphery variant Archer at some point. The game loads those up with 170 rockets. In my mind, it also plays the Van Zandt anthem when firing.

I love adding Artillery and tanks in. I even have a LRM Battle Zeppelin! And yes, yes I did find it in the Periphery. Never change. :)
I've been using airstrikes lately too, and dang! If you can line the OpFor up, then call in a Shilone strike, hits them all in the rear arc with 2 Lg and 4 Med Lasers each. At 70k cbills per use, heck of a value. Those it doesn't core out, just need a little pat on the back to drop.

Even as a pineapple pizza lover myself, I'll say that's a FAFO asshole move unless it was an honest brain fart.
But for it to qualify as an honest brain fart, they would be required to volounteer to fix the problem without prompting.
If you are tasked to get pizzas for more people than yourself, you either set a price limit and take a list of what people want, OR, you get at least three different basic pizzas eg, one pinapple&ham, one bacon and shrooms, one pepperoni/salami and onions or a ham&cheese or plain tomato& cheese. Never ever order only pizzas with pinapple or only pizzas with olives or capers or seafood or mushrooms.

So the Urbanmech is not an ambassador, but it is a mascot. Madcat is the posterchild from Clan Invasion for sure. I was not really old enough for the beginning of BATTLEDROIDS!, but I would say the Warhammer.
in MWO I have an UM-R60L with a RAC/5 that has nearly max armor and pulls a mild...98.7Km/h. A friend of mine has what he has dubbed "The Snurbie" as its an R-80 with stealth armor and 3 Snubnose PPCs that goes just as fast; that thing is a little demon, no one expects an urban mech to flank them, nor one that can shred 3/4ths of a mech without thinking about it.

Found your channel a few weeks ago, I really enjoyed all the mech and lore videos man. You guys do great work.
I love Arty, I love Combined Arms, My first flushed out unit may have been mechs but my favorite thing to do now a days is to work out a full lore for Combined Arms Regiments of Militia or just conventional regiments of Infantry, Armor, Arty, and Aerospace. It's a big BT world out there, and I'd love to see more of it!
Also can't wait to see Clanners get smacked by Periphery Artillerymen. It'll be funny!

Ah, the Axman was my favourite on the tabletop around 90-92... Minus the time when I was standing in water and caught a boot in the head from an opponent on the shore.

Hey Tex. Your artillerymen can indeed all do ground-attacking. If you have other abilities filling up your 0-9 hotkeys already, it puts the ground-attack button inside the extra abilities menu (usually on '7', same place you find the 'careful maneuvers' ability)
Roughneck got them Bluetooth hands. Serious melee upgrade
The Urbie may not be an ambassador, but it's a fantastic mascot.

As I started this video, I was thinking of my favorite mech in my current Lance, which was the first mech he destroyed! I built a mech slaughtering Roughneck. Dual RAC/5 and a pilot that can target the dome piece XD that mech has more kills than half my Lance combined.

That is one of the most unique and strangely effective way to play this mod I've seen on UA-cam. Right after I think the 6th episode I began a carrer with the same general vibe as what you have.
1. As cheap as humanly possible
2. As survivable as humanly possible
3. GRID SQUARE REMOVAL as humanly possible.
Never had a more successful playthrough, I am not even using advanced tech outside of some double heat sinks sometimes, and I am slaughtering 5 skull missions. Artillery is way better in this game than it is in tabletop!
I mean it's pretty damn good on the Tabletop... IF you have a big enough table.
@@DonaldWWitt I haven't run one on an actual table but I've played against and with arty megamek and it seems to hit once every 5 rounds maybe and for a cluster or 2 of 5 DMG. And that's when there is 4 of them. Just doesn't seem productive.

Because I know Princess has issues when it comes to more esoteric strategy, but if you give her something more direct like Air-dropped Bombs she will murder you with them.
I love the Roughneck. Not because I feel it's anything particularly awesome functionally, just because it's a neat example of something we know exists in Battletech, and MUST be at least somewhat common, yet we have never seen before in videogame form: Militarized industrial mechs for cash-strapped forces.

Tex still hasn't figured out that the long tom guy who doesn't have an attack ground ability actually does and it's just under extra abilities.
1:11:50 "If I had a smaller engine..." Take the 180 out of the Gunslinger, put the 275 into it. Put the 180 into the Archer. Put an MRM40 and MRM30 into each torso for a grand total of 140 MRM tubes. Stock with ammo, cackle like a mad bastard. Watch it explode to a random crit in a fireball that can be seen from orbit. Cackle more.
My first intro to Battletech was Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance and that game had no melee combat so I thought "Why do these robots have fists its so dumb the mechs with just guns are way cooler"
Then I played MW5 after melee combat had been added and it all suddenly made sense. Punching a mech in the face is epic.
They did a fantastic job implementing melee combat in MW5, and the sound design really sells it. Hearing my Atlas's fists impacting whatever is in my way never gets old.
Ahhh yes Improved heavy Gauss rifles, much damage, much bang. And I cannot wait to see the Axman so what I’d does best.
Half the fun of BattleTech is weird builds and such anyway. Take a Hunchback, load it with like 10 Machineguns and go around punching people and racking up crits on the follow through. Sounds dumb but it always puts a smile on my face. So nice to see the Awesome getting to mix it up like that.
This is the only thing worthy of my time now. I must behold the exploits of the VZFSM!
Joke of the day: a company and a demi company have a fight in a phone booth.
That feeling when the hit on the Atlas said "Lethal Damage" and the post mission debrief says "Injured." Woo, that's a lucky boy.
Also, this mission shows why I quit playing the current iteration of BTA. Before, like here, you could get through many situations with investing in artillery and winning through firepower even when out numbered 4 to 1. Now, it's so finicky and undergunned compared to what it was, it's barely worth the investment.
Surviving in an Atlas that just plain ol' did not have a cockpit, no life support .. nothing. still scooped out afterwards and successfully hammock delivered into the ER. That's a charmed pilot.

This game was great, bta3062 makes it a awesome... but it is desperately slow.
What it needs most, imo, is simultaneous turns or real time play. I hope the next mech command game does that. It would speed up play spectacularly, and look really epic.

11:15 arty becomes a "shoots next turn" system on the current version of bta3062. Way harder to use. Still punches hard when you make it connect.

On the topic of the Urbie Redux vid, any thoughts on what (if any) mech you might give a second pass on from your earlier vids? Atlas and Awesome would both benefit from a longer-form video, IMO. Perhaps the shortform videos were from Professor Tex's CliffNotes series?

Are you running an old version of BTA Tex as the latest versions changed up the artillery a bit (it hits harder with splash damage) but you have a turn of set-up first.

My introduction to Battletech was MechWarrior 3 - I was 10 at the time, game changed my life. It's still my fsvorite MechWarrior/Battletech game.
Had a friend who had MechWarrior 2 & the expansion packs, furthering my curiosity & obsession.
The next Battletech game I would play (I played THE FUCK out of MechWarrior 3) was the Hairbrained Schemes Battletech.
Fuck, 3 years ago when I came across this fucking AWESOME channel, I didn't realize how VAST the Battletech lore was & how long the franchise has been around - it's been one hell of an education.
I came for the giant stompy robots, I stayed for the insanity that is the BPL.

Someone answer this: The avatar Tex uses in this game (the in game human profile pic, not the mech) - I got a pilot in my game that was a special kickstarter (?) pilot and its avatar voice is very Tex-like. Is there some sort of connection or is this a cosmic coincidence?

Out of curiosity, does anyone like the Ilclan Era as their favorite time period? I know that popularity of eras tends to get pretty low after the Jihad stuff, so I'm curious to hear if there are people who love the Ilclan stuff the most.
I love it for the tech and gameplay. For the story though? Not so much.
