Love the dedication to HBS in the beginning. I remember when the Kickstarter for shadowrun first started, i stumbled on it by accident, and I've rarely been as pleased with the work of a small studio as i have been with HBS. I didn't actually know, though i assumed, that a sequel to battletech was dead in the water, and it's so disappointing, because like Tex said it was way better than we had a right to. Thankfully, the game is rich enough, and the missing community has put in so much work, that there's no end in sight for battletech replayability. One of my favorites of the last 10 years
I just watched all the Tex Talks battletech episodes and loved them. I then got a hankering to dive back into the game and figured I'd look for gameplay of the big 3 mods and see what I'd like. I spent 5 minutes watching this video thinking "man I guess battletech just attracts all the people with the whiskey gravel voice" before realizing this is literally the same channel and i'm a moron. Thanks for all the great content.
I LOVE the Hollander. not saying its a good mech, but I just love how goofy the art for it is and the buddy who got me into BT introduced it to me as the Big Iron mech
Your meandering, rambling and story telling is what most of us are here for. If we wanted boringly competent there are a lot of other places we can ignore honorably.
HBS actually asking for a sequel and Paradox saying no has got to be one of the biggest let downs I've had in years. I used to be a big fan of Paradox too and this has turned me right around the other way.
My brother was playing this and was doing the Bounty Hunter/Natasha Kerinskie throw down and in the first few turns the one of the Clan lance came into view. "Ah, what the hell." Takes a shot and misses. Cockpit destroyed. Pilot killed. The shot had missed the initial target and killed a blood named Clanner in the fog of war. That is a story not going into the Remembrance.
In fairness to the Assassin, if you load it with TAG, maybe some ECM and a Beagle, and squint really hard, it's almost a slightly heavier and shittier stand-in for a Raven, for the 'mech commander on a budget. The fact that you'd get the same effect from a platoon of guys on dirtbikes with man-portable TAG and satchel charges for a significantly lower C-bill investment is neither here nor there...
Especially since MW5 is getting a stand alone Clan Invasion game. Yay...more arcade shooter MW. The gaming industry has become so freaking shallow. Crispy graphics, zero depth.
Unless you refuse the loot crate, you get the Heavy Metal crate after the first day It might have a more palatable mech than your initial lineup ... But Urby Derby is the destination for this run Working as intended 😆
Dang, that was the fastest hour long video ive watched. I love the disgust in your voice as you took out the assassin and then the flea. The flea is probably the only mech that is below the urbie in terms of uselessness
Give an Assassin an LB-10X with a ton of each ammo type and a pulse laser if you have one. It becomes both a great backstabber and the bane of Locusts the Inner-Sphere over.
Slapdash is a hilarious name, mainly because one of my friends recently bought a hamster. They didn't expect it to live long, the last two they got died within a week, so they named it something dumb; it's name is Spindash. This dumb hamster outlived that pilot and their life expectancy is 5 days.
As a MW5 commander my hiring requirements would be: 1) Everyone has to take the occasional urbie duty.(yes, weight limits are silly, yes, you did well last time in the Atlas. No exceptions.) 2) are you willing to cover me as my mech cools down for the 14th time in the battle. No I don't have an srm problem. The Stalker F was always meant to be a point blank brawler. 3) Your willing to admit *CASE* clearly stands for *Cockpit Ammo Storage Enclosure.* And are willing to sign a waiver about any _completely theoretical_ health problems from using the chemical laser ammo as a seat.
Oh man, this will age me, but I remember my first introduction to Shadowrun being on a BBS turn a day forum and reading through like 90 pages of serious hardcore roleplay. Then i begged my parents to buy the rule book, but nobody would play cuz they said it was too complex. I also devoured the novels back in the day. Such an amazingly well fleshed setting!
The engine is fine. Their code just happens to be spaghetti. Which is, honestly, why it's a good thing they're not getting another shot. I'd rather have another BT game made by people who know what they're doing.

I’m playing through BEX too. I’m only in 3028 right now, but I’m planning to switch over to BTA once I get to 3062.
@@Logan912 Same here
Ohhhhh how I have missed these play throughs! My toughest start was 2 locusts, 2 fleas, and I got a cicada from heavy metal lol
The Hunchback is as speedy as a 64 year old overweight Floridian with a pint of Guinness in him and he needs to pee. Faster and with more momentum than ever expected
It’s the meandering, rambling, and story telling that makes it fun. It makes me miss the old school nerds I used to play with.
I love that you said “my main objective is to roll over to clanner space and be belligerent” that’s literally the only thing I do in this game 😂😂 make my way to clanner space and be belligerent.
Callsign: Copycat
"Do you talk a lot?"
-As much as you need me to, sir.
"When you drink the last cup of coffee, do you make more?"
-Yes sir, after cleaning the pot and making sure the coffee grounds are fresh, sir.
"Which way do you fold the toilet paper?"
-Whichever way you do, sir.
"Are you aware of deodorant?"
-Yes sir, love deodorant, sir.
"Do you listen to loud music?"
-Only what you put on the radio, sir.
54:53 "The Steiners said you're a war criminal, and now that I say that out loud, I realize how ridiculous it sounds."
Slapdash is part of a story mission later on, to upgrade the Argo. That she dies .. is the not good
finally back with BTA, i was so sad when you stopped. Glad its going again.
First... YES to the re-lyricism. :D Second... the sound of "I'm not mad, just disappointed" in that "I have most of a flea" was perfect.
I love the Urbie and the fact there's a game start for only Urbies makes me smile.
Watching the Jenner and the three Urbies looked like a nanny taking three cute toddlers for a walk.

That makes no sense. All a mech needs to arrest its fall during an orbital insertion is a single jump jet. And I'm supposed to believe that a mech with 2 jump jets can't make that tiny little hop?
Of course Tex takes the Urbie Derby. I'm gonna die laughing here.
I LOVE the Hollander. not saying its a good mech, but I just love how goofy the art for it is and the buddy who got me into BT introduced it to me as the Big Iron mech
Also my Favorite mech. It pops heads and then heads home for pop.
Your meandering, rambling and story telling is what most of us are here for. If we wanted boringly competent there are a lot of other places we can ignore honorably.
Attitude: Avuncular
Coffee: Yes, always make another pot.
Toilet Paper: Always over, 3 piece sections, otherwise 0-g bidet plz
Loud Music: Yes
Mastodon
Clutch
The Sword
Trivium
Manowar
This is pure gold, as always! I've been crying of laughter watching this listening to Tex commenting on playing ^^ Please, keep this series going!
Thanks Tex, now I'm binging Randy Savage interviews and I am not disappointed!
HBS actually asking for a sequel and Paradox saying no has got to be one of the biggest let downs I've had in years. I used to be a big fan of Paradox too and this has turned me right around the other way.
I like when Tex gets all heartfelt and sincere out of nowhere. Dude loves the bejeesus out of some good games.
Paradox not wanting another Battletech is such a braindead move. They must hate money.
I guess Paradox is too busy focusing on releasing a billion DLCs for their other games instead.
Van Zandt standard medical kit : A roll of duct tape, a hacksaw and a bottle of rye ...
That first mission cracked me up. Friggin pilot dies out of nowhere.
She was bleeding out for a couple of rounds, but I pretty certain Tex couldn't see the red notification.
I can't imagine how heart wrenching it must be for HBS to lose the BT License.
Especially since MW5 is getting a stand alone Clan Invasion game. Yay...more arcade shooter MW. The gaming industry has become so freaking shallow. Crispy graphics, zero depth.
Mark my words here and now, 10 years from now Battletech will have an HBO show.
And will suck because they don't know or care about the lore.
It's crazy that they said no to HBS. I know it didn't sell in the millions, but surely no one expected it to.
Thanks for praising the devs. Dragon fall is one of my favorite rpgs too!
"Delta Squad reporting!"
Unless you refuse the loot crate, you get the Heavy Metal crate after the first day
It might have a more palatable mech than your initial lineup ... But Urby Derby is the destination for this run
Working as intended 😆
Dang, that was the fastest hour long video ive watched. I love the disgust in your voice as you took out the assassin and then the flea. The flea is probably the only mech that is below the urbie in terms of uselessness
Loving the new stream of uploads Tex.
Always a treat.
You're right about HBS. They deserve so much more.
Hong Kong was fantastic, and my personal favourite instalment to the shadowrun series
Give an Assassin an LB-10X with a ton of each ammo type and a pulse laser if you have one. It becomes both a great backstabber and the bane of Locusts the Inner-Sphere over.
>were you terrorized by a flea
I think properly stealth armored, you could do some absolutely terrifying things with a little shit like that.
Fantastic start. It has no right to be so endearing but the more I play the more I love a good Urbie and what could be greater than five of them.
Rock on mr tex with the early chrimbmass present wow
Luv to see it
Slapdash is a hilarious name, mainly because one of my friends recently bought a hamster. They didn't expect it to live long, the last two they got died within a week, so they named it something dumb; it's name is Spindash.
This dumb hamster outlived that pilot and their life expectancy is 5 days.
"He sees 4 urban mechs and he starts hearing clown music."
Yakety Sax begins to play from his headset.
"Shit."
14:46 there’s a battle armor start, so the Urbies definitely aren’t the hardest start out there
Whelp with the med kit joke, Piffany the Cleric now lives in the Deep Periphery
"moves over cliff"
"oh shit"
lovely content.
As a MW5 commander my hiring requirements would be:
1) Everyone has to take the occasional urbie duty.(yes, weight limits are silly, yes, you did well last time in the Atlas. No exceptions.)
2) are you willing to cover me as my mech cools down for the 14th time in the battle.
HBS Battletech reminds me of Cyberpunk 2077 in that it was a labor of love for the artists that has beautiful assets behind a janky game engine.
The engine is fine. Their code just happens to be spaghetti. Which is, honestly, why it's a good thing they're not getting another shot. I'd rather have another BT game made by people who know what they're doing.
@@maxgehtdnixan4913yeah, I feel the love put into the project, but the memory leaks are rough on my computer. Still glad for the game, though.
@@dynamicworlds1 Yeah, my issue is not the unwillingness to properly patch it up, but the inability to. You really noticed the game was a complexity grade above what the studio could properly handle.
@@maxgehtdnixan4913 They only really managed one patch, to deliberately disable a mod that offended them.
@@DIEGhostfish Which mod was that?
Battletech is a game that keeps on giving.
1:06:07 reminds me of what John F. Kennedy once said: "We choose to drive UrbanMechs and do the other things, not because it is easy, but because it is fucking fun!"
Jurassic Park?
Oh! You mean McEvedy's Folly, yeah... Pretty sure that was one of the guys they found out there.
Sad stuff that, getting stranded at your own science experiment gone awry...
Song, Never Leave Van Zandt Alive:
"In the deep star fields of the far off Periphery,
That's the planet where I trace my bloodline,
And it's there that I found in a hill side gravestone,
You'll never leave Van Zandt alive."
Oh this is going to be an amazing show! Have fun with your Urbies Tex
And then the Hunchback got out his pimpcane.
Ah yes. Delta. Pride (cough cough) of Van Zandt.
Objective? Boop the snoot!
I'm a simple man. I see tex and battletech i hit like and watch. And watch and watch and watch.
