Yes, but being in a somewhat racially/ethnically homogenous area is way different than many Western countries (ex. USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, etc...). But not all Western countries are super diverse either, but they tend to have somewhat of a understanding that you are different and an individual. China is very much uses the "we" term to describe people. Very different.
Any political community tends to imagine itself as a union by using "we" term, such as we British, we Canadians and we Americans, in order to promote the coherence of its social members, which inevitably excludes people from other regions and thus leads to the establishment of a common identity. Although Western countries may be more diverse than China is, such phenomenon of the imagining of a community still exists as a political practice in the West. (since the establishment of the Westphalian system?)
Foreigners are always considered visitors in China by people who don't know the circumstances (unless perhaps they are ethnically Chinese). As foreigners we have to accept that, but that doesn't mean we can't feel at home here for however long we stay. I try to look at it positively as having two homes - where I grew up and where I live now.
don't be upset, that is very normal. many 3rd generation chinese american still feel un-secured, now with china-usa relationship worsen, these chinese american feel more "outsider" as u can imagine.

Be true to yourself. You are unique in your own way. Don't laugh when you don't want to and don't push yourself so hard to be in that culture when you don't want to. When you accept yourself, you will find you accept everything around you.
What you described is so true Linling, when I or my friends need to go somewhere we also find 30 minutes a long distance since my country is small 😂 I guess it just Depends in wich country you grew up. Und friendliche gruBen an Anna!

+The Last Knight of Silk Road lol because I live in China. I don't have to deal with the dark winter. I do eat vitamins but staying in China were light is a think every day all year around make it easy to be happy.
You are a European girl who likes Chinese culture, and you are a global citizen. That's great. Why you have to be Chinese? No. Like here in the States, people call me Chinese, American Chinese, Chinese American, whatever way, I am fine with it. I belong to either continent.

Why are you always so happy? I found people from northern European countries tend to be very depressed, especially those from Sweden.

I feel so chinese after only 2 years here. When i go back i dont feel like i belong as much. Def feel like i belong in china more.
