- Sinigang na Baboy with Gabi is a popular Filipino soup dish. It has pork belly with vegetables such as okra, kangkong (ong choy), snake beans, onion, dikon radish, and taro. It is cooked in a sour broth. The souring agent is usually unripe tamarind. This recipe makes use of sinigang sa sampaloc mix, which is the powdered version of tamarind.
Sinigang na baboy is best eaten with spicy fish sauce (this is also called patis in the Philippines). I scoop a few fish sauce using a spoon and pour it over the pork, and then eat it with rice.
This sinigang version is special because of the taro. This ingredient is locally referred to as gabi. It helps make the soup thicker.

Here is the complete recipe:
Ingredients
2 lbs. pork belly, sliced into cubes
2 to 3 cups kangkong leaves
3 pieces long green chili pepper (siling pansigang)
2 ripe tomatoes, quartered
1 cup sliced daikon radish (labanos)
10 to 12 pieces snake beans, cut in 2 inch length pieces
1 large yellow onion, quartered
15 pieces okra
2 pieces taro, peeled and cut in half (gabi)
8 cups water
2 (20 g) packs Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc Mix Original
3 tablespoons fish sauce (patis)
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
Pour water into a cooking pot. Let boil
Add onion and tomato. Boil for 5 to 8 minutes.
Put the pork in the cooking pot. Boil for 25 minutes.
Add the taro. Cover and continue to boil for 30 minutes.
Add Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc mix, fish sauce, and ground black pepper; stir.
Put the daikon radish in. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
Add the chili peppers, okra, and snake beans. Cook for 7 minutes.
Add the kangkong. Cover the cooking pot and turn off the heat. Let it stay covered for 5 minutes.
Transfer to as serving bowl. Serve with a small bowl with patis and spicy chili.

I dont know but i think a lot of people dont understand the meaning of "tutorial." Tutorials are meant to be long, thats why its called tutorial, and this took so long because it caters also to beginners. So i dont understand why theres so many dislikes. The video really helped. Ang target audience po dito ay yung totally walang alam sa pagluto, kasi maski kung pano mag-gayat ng bawat ingredient ay inisa-isa nya (painstakingly). Yung wala pong pasensya na panuorin ang buong 40-minute long video or yung may konting experience na sa pagluto at naghahanap na lang ng quick steps kung pano lutuin ang recipe na to, humanap na lang po kayo ng ibang video. Tapos na syang magluto sa 31st minute, ewan ko lang ano pang meron hanggang 40:52.
Pero Sir Vanjo, feedback lang po: Honestly, sobrang self-indulgent etong ginawa nyo sa video na to. Grabe po talaga yung digression nyo sa bawat minuto ng video. Tinry kong silipin kung anong nangyari after the 31st minute at mukhang 10 minutes nyong pinakita kung pano nyo tinikman yung iba't ibang sahog ng ulam. Sana po ma-consider nyo itong feedback ko sa next videos nyo. Thank you.

naghahanap ako ng sinigang na hnd gumagamit ng oil, kc puro nggigisa nkita ko dto sa utube, I dont like sinigang na mamantika..ive already tried cooking sinigang, pro hnd ako satisfied, kya ito nanood ako ng pagluluto ng sinigang,.and I love it! i'll try to cook this kapag hnd bc sa work.

I just cooked this recipe for dinner tonight and it was a winner!!! My whole family loved it! Sarap talaga! I used your fish sauce and spicy red chili flakes while my hubby loves to use spicy bagoong. Yes the video may had been a tad long but I learned a lot from the cutting techniques that are great for new cooks learning like me. So for that salamat po!! I love that you are doing tasting in the end and showing yourself even more. I am so proud of you I have followed and watched your vids since the very beginning but never really tried cooking until a few months ago from being inspired by you. Thank you a million times!!!!
