grew up with a Filipino step mom, her and her mom always cooked for me and sinagang was always one of my favorites. my dad isn't married to her anymore so the only time I get to eat these awesome foods I grew up with is when I teach myself to make them, but the up side to that is I've discovered a love for cooking
as a 100% indonesian, who was born in jakarta and grew up in other part of the java island..... i just wanna say that i frickin love love LOVE sinigang.. especially sinigang ng hipon... as in mahal na mahal ko ng sinigang.. punyeta hindi ko alam paano ang buhay ko kapag babalik ako sa jkt, damnnnn!
Can I just say...I am obsessed with Mama Lulu??? She looks like a Filipino version of my late mother, and it freaks me out sometimes. But I've seen that quite a bit on life.. people of different races that look alike. Her spirit, her smile, her joy.. OMG I love it!! 💋🖤
I love my mother in laws Sinigang, she uses pork ribs and cabbage, sometimes she adds peppers but I don't do spicy well so she usually leaves them out for me. And of course the knorr soup mix. I eat it with lots of cornbread. One of my other favorites is the Buko Pandan but she just calls it Filipino fruit/jelly salad. I honestly will eat it as a whole meal for days, she makes it in bulk for me lol.
Ang comforting ng cooking vlog ni Mama Lulu. As someone na nawalan ng mother at early age, sobrang nakakatouch sa puso na tawagin ka bilang "anak" and feel na feel ko tlga yung motherly love nya kahit virtual lang. More powers po!
O.M.G. Olly and Mommy Lulu... You don't know how long I've been waiting for Pork Sinigang! This is one of my most favorite dishes that my Mom cooks. And yes... DAPAT MAY SILI ANG SAWSAWANG PATIS (capital letters para intense)! I can already taste it! In our household, we have 3 favorite proteins when it comes to Sinigang: Pork (Belly and Ribs), Beef (with some fat), and Salmon Belly. When we cook Salmon Belly, we add chopped up Lemon Grass and Miso. Let me just say that I am salivating while I am typing this because every person who grew up in Filipino household knows how good Sinigang is! Also, we have used various other meats/proteins like Hipon and Bangus. We've also cooked and enjoyed several version of Sinigang like Minisuhan (Sinigang sa Miso) and Sinigang sa Bayabas/Kamias. Paired with hot steaming rice and fish sauce full of chili... I swear to God, it is taking everything in me not to drool all over my keyboard. Sorry if I seem overly passionate over Sinigang (or any Filipino Dish). Food is one of my Mom's love language throughout the years. We (my Dad, my siblings, and I) can feel how much she cares and loves us through the food that she cooks for us. Like you, our household is used to family-style/size recipes and servings. We are used to having the same ulam for lunch and dinner (and even some leftovers the following day). We're also used to giving some viands/ulam to our friends/neighbors; especially during holidays/feasts. My Dad is great in the kitchen too. Having lived in the Unites States for several years, he brought home different dishes/recipes that he tasted and cooked while he was in San Francisco and Reno. He makes a mean breakfast burrito (with store-bought, spicy Salsa) and cooks real good T-Bone steaks (to name a few). My Dad passed away last May, a day after Mother's Day. We're still grieving and feeling our loss. However, we get by through remembering our happy times together and most of those memories are over/related/linked to both travel and food. Olly, seeing you and your family bond over food is and will always be a great stress reliever and will never fail to make me smile. Like I said in a previous comment (which you replied to), you and Mommy Lulu reminds me so much of myself and my Mom. Keep making good food and sharing the love and happiness to everyone. More power and God bless! xoxo Rage

Sa dinami daming cooking show na napanood ko, dito lang ako naglaway. Also, "paborito ni (Oliver) yan!" is one of the sweetest thing a child can hear from his/her mother.
Pinoy na pinoy! Nasa hapag-kainan din ang kaldero. Natakam tuloy ako kahit kakaluto ko pa lang ng sinigang kahapon. I'm happy that you are also in UA-cam Mama Lulu (now ko lang nadiscover!) Ingat po sa putok-batok.
I moved to U.S to be with my husband. At isa sa mga namimiss ko talaga is the authentic Filipino foods that's really hard to find where I live now. Even the ingredients are hard to find sometimes. 😅 pero thank you po sa videos niyo because I can cook the Filipino foods that I really missed from the Philippines. I can cook them now at the comfort of my home.
I am currently eating sinigang na baboy with watermelon radish and mustard leaves. It's not as good as what mama Lulu have but just by watching her cooking with love, I feel like I'm also eating her sinigang.
I lost my mama last March 2020. Mama Lulu made me cry when she said "yung ibang anak ko." I so miss my mom it hurts. Thank you Oliver and mama Lulu, your vlogs makes me forget the pain somehow.
Na eentertain ako sa samahan ninyo ni Oliver nakakatuwang panuorin, ibang klase ang vlog ninyo me kahalong humour at syempre, iba ang technique ni Mama Lulu, nai inspire ako magluto for the family
I do seafood sinigang sometimes. Salmon head with some salmon steaks. I also use pompano and sometimes add shrimp. But sometimes the shrimp lessens the acidity of the broth, I dont know why but it does when im cooking lol. So I add more of the tamarind to adjust.
mama lulu, this video helped me cook sinigang on my own for the first time and my parents approve of it. im used to only my mom and mama make it for me, so im very particular about how it tastes. it tastes exactly like how my family has made it. this was a wonderful experience for me, and now if i ever have a hankering for sinigang, i know how to make it. much love ❤️

This is exactly the version of my Tagalog mom used to make, we never sautee onions and tomatoes unless we use Miso as the souring agent. All the veggies are the same, eggplant, kang kong, Radish, Okra, Long Beans and/or Taro. So yummy!!! Pork is the best sinigang followed by Shrimp and Beef :)

Hi Mama Lulu I was about to watch singang pork recipe from the other cook but nakita ko yong recipe nyo kasi (iPad ng anak ko ang gamit ko) at bigger ang screen ng ipad kaya nagkatabi yong recipe nyo and the other cook’s recipe so I got curious sa snigang recipe nyo n I decided to watch your recipe n very thankful ako kasi I found your recipe to be so easy n simple to follow just like the way I remember how my sister cooked it back in the Phil. So now you have an additional anak here in San Diego California n will always look for your recipes every time I cook. Mama Lulu you are fun n amazing n awesome mom in the kitchen . ❤❤❤

Mommie Lulu 👋 i love love your cooking segments so much. I miss my moms cooking at most times too. I grew up with pork sinigang so thats what i always make whenever i can. The version my mom taught me was to make ginisa onions garlic n tomato quickly then add pork n patis to seal it then fill with water to boil then add chili that was poked with fork then add sinigang mix n a-bit salt n pepper then veggies in the end like you do only on top no mixing. I will try your version with my kids next time though .. hugs and cheers from Australia 🤗🤟😊
Thank you for preparing this! Fave ko talaga ang sinigang. Consistent talaga si Mama Lulu sa Knorr. Super asim and yummy! Ganda rin ng earrings mo Mama!
I think he said "putok batok". Like from eating high cholesterol foods causing hypertension then leading to a hemorrhagic stroke. It shook me for a bit then I turned on captions at 0:45 just to confirm. And I am now shooketh. 🤣😂🤣😂
He did say “Batok, batok”, which I think ang gusto nyang sabihin is check ni Mommy Lulu yung batok nya, kung okay pa… And yes po, I know what “putok batok” also means, no need to lecture me on that…😆😆😆
And also po, I don’t need to turn on captions I perfectly understand what they are saying either in English or Tagalog… Hindi pa ho ako nkakalimot sa sarili kong wika…😆😆😆
OMG speaking tagalog AND Engrish subtitles?!?! instant subscriber!!! My littles are watching. I know a to speak a little tagalog but I can understand it. You made my day thank you. Maraming salamat Po
My favorite is beef cubes in the sinigang!! But this looks delicious too!! Never tried a pork version. I should make that sometime. Milkfish is good too!!

It’s not sinigang if it has cabbage and pepper and if it’s not sour. What you had was more likely a Nilaga.
