Great drone work. FYI the NF amd state forests allow dispersed camping pretty much anywhere aside with a few exceptions. We live on a farm near the Hiawatha near where you crossed and camped the first night. If you come back up, reach out and I can line you guys back up with some cool spots to check out, camp, etc. I used to run UP Overland in the 2000’s which, fun fact, was the first organized anything using that name in North America. 😆 Anyway you are welcome to camp in the farm or at our camp on Superior if you want a quiet night along the big lake. 👍 Good luck, appreciate your bringing awareness to the darkness that is depression.

@@Kristian_Saile Thank you so much! I am glad to learn this info. My wife and I plan to com back up this year in late summer so will definitely reach out to you. Thank you! That is a fun fact. I like to learn what I can from experienced locals in a new area. It will be fun to talk with you and hear your stories of the UP. Send me a message on Instagram if you can, so we can stay in touch.

That side trail by mount arvon? I drove up that going the other way in my fj cruiser and my wife's Tacoma. It was dicey! But I was amazed to see you found it because I haven't been back to it in a few years and I live here!

I only did because I saw tracks from when I was flying the drone! 😆
After checking on the maps to see if it was legal for jeeps, I gave it a whirl

My old stomping grounds when I was a kid. Munising/grand marais area was where I grew up. One year and 8 months I retire, will be back in the U.P. Driving my side by side in the woods. I can’t wait…I’m like a kid in a candy store.

Congratulations on your retirement very soon! Im so glad this brought back memories for you! This area is just Incredible and I can't wait to return and continue exploring. Have you experienced the U.P in the winter?

@@BluebirdOverland I was born and raised in the U.P.,I'm a fourth generation from Grand Marais. I went to Northern Michigan University and moved away after college. This year will be 35 years away from the U.P. I spent many winters ice fishing, hunting rabbits, and snowmobiling around the U.P. when I was a kid. My friends and I had something very special growing up, we didn't know it at the time when we were kids. I'm looking forward to returning to GM and spending some time fishing and hunting. My wife and kids love it there during the summer, not so much in the winter. LoL!

Thank you so much. Do you know if the outlook tower actually exists along that road?
I've heard exceptional things about Sugarloaf Mountain, but my wife asked me to wait for her to visit this location when we come back in 2025. We love hiking and plan to do a lot in 2025.

@ the road was also closed when I went earlier this year as well. There is so much to see in the U.P. And endless exploration. I went about 7 times this year mixed hiking and off-roading and have just scratched the surface. There is also the old railroad that is around mount Avron. I was also told of a plane wreck that is near there as well but I was unable to locate that as we were in a bit of a rush to get to our next camp. If you enjoy hiking the porkies as well as pictured rock offer some phenomenal hikes.

Excellent video and adventure! The UP is my overlanding backyard. Munising is pronounced Mu-ni-sing and they have an excellent UP delicacy, Muldoon’s Pasties 🤤. Hope you can try one if you’re still in the area. I’m glad you’re enjoying the UP!

Thanks for the pronunciation correction and the food tip! I drove right past the Bakery, and I even wanted to stop but I somehow convinced myself not to stop. We will be back twice in 2025, and I will absolutely stop. I LOVE local shops like this.

I mentioned how Awsome your drone shots Are....I enjoyed this video so much. I lived in the U P. For 9 months & have exploited it for 50 years, ..Good Video...!
There are " some" sites to camp- I did on Nov. 14--- 161th and paid with an envelope in a drop box ...you're just passing thru & internet dependant- I think, I may be wrong ...the Locals are key in finding hidden Jem's.. ( you did a great job, made me home sick). Fish Fry's, local get to gathers, bullshiting with down home locals & letting them trust You ......oh you made me homesick, The U. P. Is amazing & so are The People ..
Come back and do a follow up on this incredible, beautiful, Historic piece of earth.....please
