When I did my hydraulic fluid service I hung the 5 gallon bucket from the ROPS with a cam strap to the bucket handle. It made the pouring operation easy to control and much less back strain. The spout lined up easy to the long funnel. No spills no stress!
Dude, you did the right thing, I do not trust the dealership's now days. Also, you filling the oil filter with oil is the best thing you can do for your engine and it will last longer!
I've had my truck drain plug left loose and my oil filter put on with 2 gaskets before. Nobody wants to take pride in their work. They are too busy watching the clock.
I bought an L3902 in February. This video is going to be a huge help down the road for future maintenance. I love all of your videos and find them very useful. I’ve got 40 acres down here in Texas, and I’m going through all of the same land development issues you have. Thanks!
L3902 is a nice upgrade! If they made them with a cab, we might have to get one! Thanks for watching!
I hit 200 last week on my L2501. I changed the fuel filter. I was shock at how much stuff was inside my filter. I have a little different set up. My fuel filter is clear. Good video. I love working on my tractor.
The 20 hour (or is it 50 hour?) initial filter change always has all the wear particle on the suction side of the hydraulic filter. It's from machining and it's normal. The 400 hr is usually pretty clean. Thanks for watching.
If I may make some suggestions...
1. Have a pair of nitrile gloves on when you work with fuel and drain oil. Your skin is an organ! Would you pour drain oil on your liver?
2. Fill your filters before you put them on if they are vertical. They will pull sooner with less cavitation.
3. Use K&N filters. They have a 17mm nut built in on the nose that is much easier to use thana strap wrench.
4. I use big pieces of old cardboard under vehicles to keep oil off my concrete.
A good video Brad. Oil Dry comes in 5 gallon pails..
Great tips! Thanks for watching.
Thank you, this will help me when I hit the 400 hr mark... I appreciate the time you took to make this video.
Glad you found it helpful!
Great video! Thanks for the very thorough list in the comments.
Great video Brad! Kubota owners will be thanking you.
Great video. My 400 hour service will be due by the end of this year possibly next spring. Thanks for the awesome videos!
You can do it!
This will be helpful when I do mine. Thanks for taking the time to make this video for those who have never done this.
Glad it helps! Thanks for watching.
those like myself... agreed: THANKS!!!
Gawd dang you bring that tractor in your house? Nice barn 😉
We call that our Mega-Shed dream shop!
You are awesome!!
Nice rundown of the 400hr service.
hot. sweaty. dirty job! Was dreading it!
Always fill yr filters. If not yr running 4 to 6 seconds with dry start. There are some tests that prove this. Nice video, ty
Thanks for watching!
good stuff sir!
Glad you liked it! More tractor stuff here: ua-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
If this might help someone, since we know the cost of maintenance is high, I start purchasing the needed products way before hand, that way I have what I need when I need them. I have all of my products shipped to me.
I tend to stick with Kubota products, they fit as designed and is tested for your tractor. Generic products from your local auto parts stores are not tested by Kubota for your tractor. MJ
Thanks for watching.
Good reminder.
Maintain these Kubotas and they usually reward you with long life!
Your tractor thanks you.
It does! Seems to run smoother and quieter now.....probably my imagination.
Hydro oil looks real clean... I wonder if 400 hour change is actually necessary 🤔. I'm at 360 hours and I'm questioning the hydraulic oil change.
Great vid...thank you.
It's expensive and messy but I wouldn't skip this one. It's a $30K machine and that transmission really likes clean oil! The non-synthetic tractors change at 250 hours!
Great video, thank you. But talk about detail cleaning a tractor before a video! Sheesh! Even the tires look never used. If I make this video, my tractor will be clean, functionally, but it’ll be CLEAR that joker gets used. No idea how guys have time to get their machines this clean AND make videos. Thankfully, they do and we all have good videos to reference maintenance tasks.
We push it pretty hard as you can see in our videos, but we blow off the dust with a leaf blower before we put it away and keeping it inside helps a lot with keeping it clean.
If u fill the fule filter first, that will save u from having to bleed it so much it sure is a pain in the butt
Agree.....it was hard to put on though. Not much clearance and I almost cross threaded it. Thanks for watching.
If you go "by the book" it's not recommended to refill the filter because then that fuel is unfiltered and Tier 4 systems don't have a lot of room for error (trash - talking micron levels).
Synthetic 15w40 or Non Synthetic 15w40? I can’t find in the manual that says oil has to be non synthetic. So I just bought off the shelf valvoline 15w40 and called it a day.
Non-synthetic is recommended. You can go synthetic for extra protection, but I don't.
Rotella T...the old standby
Super UDT2 is a waste of money unless you have over 6 months of below 50° weather. Truth be told. Just a little FYI so may save you some money next time you have to change it. Great video though for sure.
Thanks for the info! I tend to over-maintain my stuff!
Did you change your pre fuel filter or not.
The fuel/water separator? No. Not needed. Just drain it if it has water in it. This tractor is kept inside and the bowl is clear.
Yes sir, there are numerous information about filling filters before putting them on, especially from CAT and Cummins.
Basically the reason for not filling the filters with fluids is because you would be bypassing the filtration. The fluids are passed through the filters before returning. So, if one fills the filter the filtration is bypassed.
Hope this helps. Good video though, thanks! MJ
We hope our new oil put in the filter is clean! Thanks for watching.
Fill the fuel filter before installation
that would have helped a lot!
Bring the amount of rags you are going to need, then double that amount 😅 isn't that the truth with so many things. Even time...
The main thing about you changing the oil, is the time you save. Of course, keeping money in your pocket is a nice bonus.
Lucas sent me a message today and said my concrete is too clean!! We have to keep the tractor maintained....so much to do. Thanks for watching.
Did you say $50 for a gallon on standard engine oil?
I read it from the receipt. You can buy oil cheaper than at the Kubota dealer, but I like to support my dealer if possible.
Holy crap good for you man I don’t like my local dealers that much. I’ll stick with $16 Rotella T4 because I’m a tight ass.
You didnt have to service the front end fluid?
I'll have to look at the manual but I should at least check it, right? If I recall correctly, they ship it from the factory with HST in it, but then you change it out for gear oil.
I would just check it.
@@PineyGroveHomestead
@@garyjohn316 It's easy enough to change. The caps at the bottom of each axle pop out to drain it.....then fill it with 90W. Sounds like another video!
Good video
Glad you enjoyed it.
just annoying….anyone ever told you that?
You want your money back?
