I think Chi would be proud of his bandmates for being strong and carrying on, and Sergio has done an excellent job carrying the torch and has earnt his place.
Along with Genesis, Pompeji, and Radiant City, this is definitely one of my favorite tracks so far. Always love it when Chino leans into his love of Depeche Mode and new wave in general in his vocals. The verses here especially. That chorus is also damn beautiful. There's a very subtle "oooh" background vocal in there that is quite pretty. When the Ohms single came out....I was worried. Did almost nothing for me. But thankfully the entire album is precisely what I was hoping for...along with plenty that is challenging and will give me a lot to delve into over repeat listens. But all in all, I'm very very happy with this album. SNW and KNY are, along with Diamond Eyes, my favorite albums of theirs. And this whole album is giving off all sorts of Wrist and Koi vibes. It's honestly nuts to me how, in my opinion at least, this band's best albums are their 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th releases. That just never happens lol. White Pony is excellent....but I honestly love the stuff that came after even more. It all became more epic and cohesive and incorporated more shoegaze/dream-pop elements, which I fucking adore. It's also pretty jarring to listen to Adrenaline now. That is by far my least favorite album. Honestly, I don't even like it even a little bit. Bored is an alright song....but the whole album just sounds so unadventurous and musically uninteresting to me. Especially when compared to the genius that came after it. Deftones are special. There just aren't that many bands who genuinely get better over time. And I can't think of a single band from the 90s who are still releasing music that is......creatively relevant. Tool's output over the past 2 decades has been, well....slim. And while 10,000 Days is a great album, Fear Innoculum is a complete and total dud to my ears. ohms is my favorite deftones song! I cannot fucking believe how relevant this band is to my musical taste, still after all these fucking years. Gotta put Deftones on top for life, this band is my ride or die, truly changed my life, and they are with me every step of the way!

You know this is going to be a classic, even timeless album when each and every single song becomes your favorite song upon further listens and playthroughs.
The lyric style brings me back to the lyric style of Minus Blindfold. “Grab my keys and some money and circle around the lake” reminded me of “Grab my blue backpack, my walkman, grip my bicycle Because I know my friends are waiting at the door”.

Underneath the sheets I find your
Makeup and shoes in a bag laid open
Grab my keys and some money
And circle around the lake
I guess you're losing it
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I like to believe that maybe you're a lot likе me
Try using this equality we might need in thе air
[Chorus 1]
'Cause there are no more left like you
A picture perfect strange
Imagined in one shape
Unchained
[Verse 3]
Tempt my spirit within my name
We crawled in the tomb and release some honey
Eighteen hundred million ways striving to make it last
[Chorus 1]
There is no one left like you
A picture perfect strange
Imagined in one shape
Unchained
[Chorus 2]
There are no more thrills I'll need
Than the desire that we shared
From the channels of our dreams
To the grave
[Post-Chorus]
I'll find you again somewhere I believe
You'll find me somewhere again I believe
Thank you.
