Our neighbor came over the other day and said a friend of his called and told him he had too many apples, to come and get some. So he did and then he had too many apples so he brought us some and then we had too many apples so we decided to give a few away and then we decided to peel and prep the rest for apple pie and freeze them and here's how we do it.
First we washed them and then we used Mark's Mom's QVC apple peeler. If you know Mark's Mom she has demonstrated this to you because she loves this thing so much, when she first got it she had apples around and demonstrated it to everybody who came to the house, no one missed it and she is personally responsible for selling 25 to 30 of these things, it does a nice job but when the apples are on the small side it leaves a little more skin than it should on the bottom, so after you pull them off, you just take a peeler and remove the extra skin. The next thing we do is core and slice them and we use this Apple corer, slicer to do it.
After we cut all the apples with that. Next we take a one gallon Ziploc freezer bag and stick it inside the size pie plate we want to make an apple pie in and then trim all the individual apple pieces to the size we want and cut off any bad spots and throw them in the bag. When you have the desired amount of apples in your bag for your pie, shake it down a little bit and then pack them down in the bag into the pan so that they form to the shape of your pie plate.
Next we take a straw and stick it in the corner of the bag and slide the zip lock over against it and then suck the air out and finish closing the ziplock.
And here is what we ended up with a rather large pile peels and cores, one and a half batches of apple crisp and the apples for 5 pies. We freeze them in the pans and the next day when they're a solid block we take the pans out and put the pans away and just leave the apples in the freezer until we're ready to make a pie. We don't put the sugar and spices in now we tried that a couple times and a lot of it just stuck to the sides of the bag and it's a real waste. We don't recommend you doing it, just freeze the apples like that and when you actually make your pie just sprinkle it all on top of the apples before you put your top crust on. In part 2 we will show you how to cook it.
Well that's it for this one. Please comment, rate and subscribe. I hope you liked it, if you did please consider giving us a thumbs up. Thanks for watching, god bless bye.
I want a little more emotion mom. Ouch I cut myself!

Wish I had seen your video yesterday before I froze apples with sugar and cinnamon! I have enough for 6 pies and I hope I don't lose too much when I make the pies! I see what you're saying about it all sticking to the bag. What a great way to measure the apples!!! Truly genius. I worked way too hard yesterday with the way I did it. Bummer. But now I know! I can't find your video about baking the pies. Please help!!!

Thanks for the video! Wish I had an apple peeler like that. Besides pies and crisps, you can cook the skins and cores to make apple jelly. No pectin needed.

Hi! cool tip about the straw :D I have a question... It looks like it isn't necessary to put the apples in water with lemon or sugar or vitamin c before freezing it? they don't turn brown if you don't do this?
    Thanks a lot!! keep safe!

+PackMan Gaming yes it helps a little but if your going for long term storage use a vacuum sealer. these will be gone by the end of the year.
