You guys are good dudes... Checking out Michael Myers' old neighbourhood and the Tim Horton's he used to hang out at- epic LOL... Cheers lads!
Back in the mid 90's my brothers friend worked as a baker at a Tim Hortons right behind my house, baked everything each morning, back when it wasnt owned by a multicorp now everything is premade and cooked from frozen, donuts were so much better when they were freshly baked every morning and they always gave the left overs to the local homeless shelters.
The Tim's you show is not the one Myers frequented. They tore that one down and build the larger one. The old one was too small and could accommodate maybe 20 people. Back then all donut shops had a baker on the premises. My mother bought a birthday cake from that Horton's.
If you're able to come up to Canada again, I would advise catching an Argos game, or any CFL game for that matter. Just remember to dress warm if applicable of course.
McDonalds coffee is apparently, the coffee blend that Tim Hortons gave up after they didn't renew their contract with Mother Parkers. The donut and pastries were made inhouse, until the company was taken over by an international group.
Tim Horton's serves two important functions in Canada. The first one is the obvious one - for snacks. The second is as a public toilet since we don't actually have that many of those 😒
As a Quebecer, that plate of poutine is a very sad looking one. Rarely will you find it made with frozen fries (that's generally the USA fast foods or immigrants restaurants), the curds have to be unripened (no substitution possible also a reason why not available in most US states as sales of unripened cheese are mostly illegal) and be 2cm to 5cm in lenght and the gravy is never a powdered base one. Must be a home made demi-glace or bordelaise (that means with red wine) sauce made from bones On a side note. Poutine has never been, nor will it ever be a side dish. The amount of poutine restaurants here in "la belle province" (the beautiful province) proves that. The best side for a poutine on the other hand is a burger or an all dressed hotdog; that's topped with relish, mustard and a vinegar based coleslaw. I was giggling as i saw your portion. That's a small portion for kids here. That costs around 6$, medium size don't really exist but large is simply 2x the small for 9-10$ and then you find the family size that is 4-5x the small portion for 19-20$. Ps if ever you come by these parts (qc). Don't order ketchup on a hot dog if you have no kids with you as you will be laughed at. Poutine is not limited as a after partying/drinking nights as we have it at home (most of us own deep fryers anyway) or at the restaurant as early as breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unripened cheese curds are so widely available that you find them near the cash at grocery stores, convenience stores (besides the lottery tickets 😂) and held at room temperature (never in the fridge)🤣
