I could never understand why Phil Harding ended every sentence he spoke with huge guffaws of laughter....what was wrong with the guy? Nobody else did/does that.
Helen, Stewart and Carenza impress me so much. So glad they are back at it. They are all so incredibly intelligent but still have a way of explaining that is accessible to everyone.
I love everything about the new series! As a stoner from Ohio who has binge watched all 21 seasons, I’m thrilled that they’ve picked up where the old series left off, and look forward to the cast and crew settling into carrying the show well into the future.
Glad Time Team is back, but I miss Tony, Mick (RIP Mick 🙏) and Phil and hope that Tony & Phil make an appearance at some point. It’s just not the same without them. ❤️
What would be nice is for the new Team to revisit on of the earlier sites and bring Tony and Phil in to comment. If they get Mick to comment, I'm running for the hills...
Love seeing this first-dig-back tracked together in one episode! I don't MIND the 30-minute shows but definitely prefer to see the entire dig through in one fell swoop. It's so great seeing the beloved, familiar faces!! That is so exciting!! I can't even pick a fave (ok...it's Stewart) because I truly adore ALL of them (very much so - they're like fam) and while I do miss the ones who've...gone on ahead...and the ones who can't/have-yet-to commit to making appearances (eyeballing YOU Sam Newton and YOU Francis Pryor and YOU Phil Harding), it's also nice getting to know the soon-to-be "old faces". Love this!
How wonderful that this was even possible! AND with my favourite structure, a fogou! My especial thanks to John, Stewart, Helen, Carenza, Brigid, Matt, Henry, Naomi, Dani, Raysan and any other of the "old team", for making the effort to come back for this project. "Mickmobile"- what a perfect name! And Carl is back! (Cornish pottery specialist)- I recognise his voice! Normally I don't consider myself a fan of things, but I'm definitely a fan of all these guys. What a fantastic treat!
See some people are complaining that it's not "new" - just a compilation of the 3 parter broadcast earlier this year. I was well aware of this but watched it again and enjoyed it. It was possible to pick up points that I missed in the first showing.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching it as one long episode 😀 I find I pick up things that I didn't notice, plus the silliness is fun for a bit. The way they do it now is much better.
I was fully aware this was the compilation and agree with you, I’m picking up a few things I missed when it was first broadcast and seeing it as a whole also gives a different feel. I never understand when people complain about FREE content on UA-cam! I am just so impressed with this new version of TT I have a feeling dear Mick would approve and as much as I would love Phil and tony I actually don’t miss them as the new people add real value and interest to make it their own as well.
Was happy to see finds specialist Carl Thorpe back for this dig. He was one of those many specialists you saw only a handful of times through the run of the show, but who always had interesting things to say. One of the regulars I really miss in the TT reboot is Ian Powlesland. I thought he was hands down the coolest guy on the show. He was the other digger driver as well as a field archeologist for many, many seasons.
Welcome back to my life! It’s a good feeling. I studied archaeology at A level back in 2006/7. Time team was a regular classroom teaching tool. Although I studied history at university, archaeology and my love for it hasn’t diminished.
Oh this is great! I'll admit to being a bit tentative about "new" Time Team - being an old stick-in-the-mud - but this is fantastic stuff. Really lovely to see some (older) friends from the previous incarnation and great to meet some new people to carry the torch forward. Oh, and great new technology (& lovin' the environmental/experimental archeology). Thanks ever so much, looking forward to seeing some more.
Watching this again as part of a Time Team Sunday which I do every now and again. It involves sitting around in bed with snacks and binging Time Team. I must have seen each episode countless times over the years but they still hold up and are still so interesting. Each one is a great adventure. I wasn't sure what the new episodes would be like, they had big shoes to fill and they have done exactly that and more. Long may they continue, no other show can capture the magic that Time Team has.
i think that the gentleness of Gus’s tone fits the maturity of our old friends. their years of running around screaming at each other and going up and down and helicopters are behind them and now they bring their quiet confidence to this new series. I’m enjoying the heck out of it.
I was going to say the same thing. I'm absolutely devoted to the series, and I put up with Tony's rushing around, waving his arms about, and shouting, for no apparent reason, but the new, calmer approach is more than welcome. Thank you so much.
Couldn't disagree more. His voice to me is annoying. Uses a base whispy type of tone in his narration. It's as though he's emphasizing as you would when you tell a story to a child. Over does soft tones. In my opinion he needs to use his "real" voice and speak as the other Time Team members do.
Great to see this, and to see some of the old regulars and some new ones. Also great to see all the fancy 3d models and such. That said, part of what really made the old series work was that the presenter didn't always was just happy with the archeologists, but played the devil's advocate. Disagreement between participants was encouraged and together with the banter was part of what made it so much fun to watch. I think it's important not just to have qualified people there but also some real characters. For me nothing beat the banter between Phil and the others. I like Dr Gus as a presenter, he seems very intelligent and just oozes charisma, I just wished his role would be a bit more, well not adversarial, but always questioning and keeping the archeologists on their toes.
Every time the name Victor comes up in this episode…I get all nostalgic…half expecting to see the dear Victor Ambrus in the next frame…I know he has passed….he was one of favourite members of the old team…
One of the things I love about time team is the relationships between the members of the team. I do miss Phil and Mick having lively and sometimes colourful discussions.
After listening to the whole episode, I quite like the new narrator. He was actively participating and showing awe and asking the questions. He has a different voice for when he is narrating from regular discussions. I like the latter better. I agree the narration voice he uses is lulling me to sleep.
OMG a feature length Time Team 2022. The graphics, drones and new techniques, just marvelous, and part of the old team together again. Victor Ambrus graphics just that! All of it makes me wanna cry of joy. Thanks to all of you who made this possible. Cornwall, Fugus, Correnza, like travelling back in time for me. R.I.P. Mick Aston. OMG he is enjoying himself wherever he is (I know he was an atheist) but I picture him high up in heaven on a clouds looking down, smiling in his favourite rainbow-coloured jersey. This made my day.
As an old time Time Team watcher I appreciate the New Time Team very much. The mix of known faces and new faces. The surprising new technologies, like the floatation tank and John's multiple levels of depth scans. [edited for typo]
The technology John and his team uses still works the same way it did 20 years ago. It's just gotten much faster and has incredible resolution now. The old devices could only pick up significant structures, where the new stuff is more or less able to tell the difference between gravel and coarse dirt a meter below ground
I admit it doesn't feel quiet the same without Tony and Phil's back and forth but that doesn't mean this is any worse. It's just different and I'm looking forwards to seeing more from our old favourites along with Gus and everyone new.
I miss Phil, Mick and Tony. I have probably watched almost all of the old time teams. The pandemic got me hooked and I have watched them a lot. I may have just got used to the old original crew. Not that any of the new people are bad at all. Do a good job just not the same and I am a creature of habit.
I have to say thank you. New Time Team is just wonderful. It is as though no time has past between the original and new series. So many old familiar faces and new too. So much wonderful new ways of investigating archaeology. So interesting. Dr Gus is just perfect to carry us with the journey of discovery. More, please?!
I've been saving this to watch for a day off and wasn't disappointed. Love seeing the old faces and new toys! Gus is a wonderful choice for presenter, love his voice and his narration. Natalie is delightful as well, love her sense of humor. Time Team's done some ambitious dig in the past but I'm quite impressed with all you were able to uncover in three days and all the new mysteries you were able to reveal. Certainly gives James a lot of new puzzles to chew on and hopefully he'll keep working this wonderful site for years to come.
Thank you. This episode did not disappoint! I am so happy to see Time Team in the new technologies and new faces. Of course, the original cast is very dear to us all. If we have learned anything from this series it is that where someone once stood, so many will stand again in newer epochs of human achievement.
I've binged all the classic episodes I could find and I love that the crew is still doing what they do. And my crush on Helen is definitely as strong as ever, does she even age??
It's just magic to see Time Team back. The great experts are back, the production value is amazing. Love seeing the use of photogrammetry, the new geophysics tech and the experimental archaeology. I do miss seeing Tony hassling the experts, but love the new presenters too. Great work all round.
Watched all of the older Time Teams, and just fell in love with it. Now, I am so pleased to see the new team and new tech makes it all the more exciting...
Excellent stuff. Great to see modern tech enhancing our understanding. The drone and new geophys are great. I particularly like the little timeline that pops up in the bottom right whenever dates are mentioned to help the viewer with a frame of reference. Keep up the good work!
I JUST LOVE THIS SHOW, I AM FROM ACROSS THE POND, AND ITS AMAZING THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS SHOW, ONLY 1 PERSON I KNOW WHO KNOWS ABOUT IT!!!! AND THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITES
Thank you for bringing back the series - great to have it all in one now to watch. Even though there are some new people it is fantastic to watch everyone - and it’s real so sometimes finds differ from what might be expected - that is part of the excitement. Thank you so much from Brisbane Australia.
Just awesome - never expected to see anything new. Congrats to all involved in bringing TT back. Signed up to Patreon and sending best wishes from Hong Kong.
Great to see the show back. Great to see some of the old crew back too. Congratulations to the new presenter. He had big shoes to fill but did a great job. 👍
Amazing episode! The cgi renderings are mind blowing. A lot of work has gone in to keeping the viewer oriented, and it’s much appreciated. It’s great to see old faces (like John “Geofizz” Gator and Matt Williams) mixed with the new ones. Dr Gus is a soothing, contemplative presenter. Well done!
So good to be watching Time Team again. So many familiar faces and the added bonus of the gorgeous Dr Gus and his lovely voice. Keep up the good work guys 😁
Brilliant! Thank you, Time Team! First dig of Series 21 in one (binge length) viewing! The three separate segments were great but this is better. (But then I watch Time Team Classical a lot of the day...)
We need this its sooo good to have Time Team back!! I watch the all the organanals and in my opinion this is just as good. In the uncertain times we live in this is a wonderful relief,Gus Casely-Hayford and Natalie Haynes are fantastic and of course all our friends from times before are AMAZING keep up this great work Thank you!
My Mum loved time team she had heaps of DVDs when she was going through dementia before she passed 5 years ago. Guess what I am into time team now since being here in Australia since 1989 I just miss the history of England so your Series are great. I still miss Tony , Phil and Mick but it is still a very good show after all these years
Loved to see a new dig. I kind of miss the boisterous commentary of the original, and Dr Gus Casely-Hayford sounds like he's announcing for a golf tournament at times.
I think the re-booted Time Team are doing a great job. It is exciting they do even more research around the digs and have other experts talking about experimental archaeology. I was / am a huge fan of Tony R as presenter and of course miss some of the 'old' crew, but the new team along with the return of some of the greats like Carenza are really living up to their standards. I enjoy Gus' gentle enthusiasm and knowlegeability. Thank you Time Team. Think I will be one of your Patreon supporters
Awesome to see the return of this amazing production. Tony was sometimes a little annoying however integral for the ‘chemistry’ of the first series and Phil has left a hole that I don’t think will ever be filled. His enthusiasm and warmth was so infectious and he is truly devoted to his craft. Shame really, but I guess people just move on sometimes. Welcome back TT.
I would say that Phil like the rest of us is aging and in the last series he was struggling with his back and knees - a lifetime of tough, physical work.
@@lakelady57yes, I just looked up his date of birth and he turns 74 next month. You have to be in very good shape to spend 3 days digging, kneeling and scraping soil at age 74!
I am so happy with this new version of Time Team. I had some doubts if time could be made outside the backing of a TV station, but you have really done something so so good here. And although I miss Tony, Mick and Phil the new hosts do a really good job. And the rest of the team is also such a delight. Really a joy to welcome this wonderful program back.
So fun to see old familiar friends and new ones! Andhow much fun theyre having with new methods stacking into the previous ones for more information. One of the vehicles is the Mick-mobile!
Enjoying the new shows, really miss Phil’s enthusiasm and cute accent, but it’s still great TV, better than most. Help support the show to get more of this wonderful content!
I really appreciate this. I love y'all! Sure, a few are missing but to have Time Team return at all just gives me a warm feeling. ❤️ The music from Small Room still accompanying the show is the icing and the cherry on top! Thank you.
Appropriately enough, the notification for this popped up whilst I'm currently sitting watching an episode from Series 3. How things have changed in 25 years! I look forward to (re)watching this dig as one continuous programme. Great idea! Nice to have the two different formats to suit different preferences.
I so enjoy Gus as the narrator. The new Time Team seems to have a different "flavor " to it. Lower key perhaps. I enjoy it as much as the originals. My thanks to all the folks that create such an educational and fun show. ❤
I've been watching this show since I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Romania in 2000-2002. It was one of the few English language shows on regular television. I, admittedly, was not a fan of the changes introduced in the last two years of the show, so this reboot made me sceptical. I wasn't interested in people working as hard to entertain me as they were in those last few years. I don't know how you did it, but you were able to capture the mature, casual ease of the original show's earlier episodes, even with new people. I think the new commentator is wonderful. His voice had the perfect tone, and it's a plus that he's an actual expert. Love it. This show is an institution, and I am happy to see it on strong footing.
I love hearing the familiar voices and seeing familiar faces! Just keep putting up those name labels and calling each other by name, and I’ll happily add new friends to the team I know so well! Thank you Time Team!
Really fun, informative, and entertaining. Hats off to the audio post gang...they really provided an even, intelligible, balanced speech and sound (a pint goes to whoever had to contend with the drone audio - we have suffered together). Cheers!
Will be interesting to see if Matt gets "volunteered " for various re enactments ( if any) , really enjoyed this tbh , despite the absence of tony and phils considerable status in tt since the off
I really enjoy the new episodes... I've always loved the original Time Team series with Tony and the gang. I still watch them regularly... the new presenters are awesome, his voice is liquid gold and his presentation/narration style is very engaging. Well done Gus, and Natalie too of course. Loving it again. Aaaand I still have a crush on Helen Geake 😊
Archaeology is **ESSENTIAL**. This needs full funding, keep it free! Lovely to see the familiar favorites (especially Brigid❤️😍☘️), as well as the new crew!
Watched the original airing and i gotta say, feature length ones are great for view time and time retention. And loads more convenient for those that want to watch the whole thing. That aside. Missed everyone so much. Great to see Carenza and John back. Looks like Matt forgot his hair somewhere though.
I love that you guys are back! I absolutely love the new and old team members....but one suggestion. Tony gave an "Everyman" aspect to what was going on. Dr. Gus comes across like Attenborough with a forced sense of wonder in his voice. There are occasions where he does better, but it all feels like he's lecturing the viewers, versus exploring ***with*** the viewers as an equal (aka "Everyman"). I'm sure he'll figure out his style as a few more episodes go one (like I saw in the 3 early release episodes...the third one was much better than the first one). Just something to consider as you guys continue to make these absolutely wonderful programs!
Yes, Dr. Gus somehow sounds very artificial to me from the start. And acts surprised about a roman coin; which is quite common to pop up. Anyway; rest of the gang is great.
@@basbos5637 He's a historian. He's probably never been on a proper dig before. Historians generally don't go on digs. Being there when a coin is found is a lot different to someone showing you a clean coin in a plastic bag back at the uni.
Great program, so interesting with so many unanswered questions raised. I know folks still yearn for Tony who was great but Dr. Gus is great also I think. Just a different style of presenting. His enthusiasm is like the wonder of a child and is infectious. I do wish we could have more of Paul Blinkhorn back and certainly some input from Phil even if his digging days are done. Keep up the great work though guys
This team is such a joy! ... while Mick and Phil are sorely missed All other Classic team have weathered well [ I can't say I miss the always Eeyore Tony!] I adore the new host. He's Calm informative and entertaining. I'm also glad John Gater no longer has so many "problems" or "nightmares" Kudos TIMETEAM🤩
Sadly, the new host needs an encounter with a taser or something; he put me to sleep, something Tony never managed, lol. Dr., a bit more eager energy, please?

I've been a fan of Time Team for over 28 years! Mick, Phil and Tony are sorely missed. However the new additions are exceptionally good, and of course the "regulars" provide continuity. It's great to see the series back! Thanks for your great work!
It took me a bit, but I'm beginning to appreciate Gus's more relaxed delivery. On one hand, less puns, on the other hand, it's a more relaxed watch and the archaeologists' enthusiasm is as good as ever!
the fact that john gater is still on this show 30 years on is amazing, i love that so much
Yes, great to see John back. I watched all the originals and was furious when Ch4 changed it then stopped it.
I really miss Phil Harding.

I've binged all the classic episodes I could find and I love that the crew is still doing what they do. And my crush on Helen is definitely as strong as ever, does she even age??
Thank you for stitching this together and for all the work TT does.
Thanks for the feature length TT. Im not a fan of splitting up a single dig into different days, this is perfect.
Gus has the most amazing voice! Tony was great. Gus is equally great with his manner.
Glad Tony retired.
In a chaotic time I've come here for some peace. Thank you for all you do! ❤️
Thank you for bringing back the series - great to have it all in one now to watch. Even though there are some new people it is fantastic to watch everyone - and it’s real so sometimes finds differ from what might be expected - that is part of the excitement. Thank you so much from Brisbane Australia.
An hour and a half of time team. Fantastic! Thanks
Just awesome - never expected to see anything new. Congrats to all involved in bringing TT back. Signed up to Patreon and sending best wishes from Hong Kong.
Welcome aboard!
Well done!
Love that Time Team is back with some familiar faces. But i really miss Tony's voice, Phil's laughter and Mick.
And Francis Pryor
So good to see Time Team back again, miss the missing old faces but liking the new additions, looking forward to seeing more going forward :)
I love the new TT-episodes. Makes me proud to know I'm a least in a tiny bit have contributed to its return by being a patron.
So good to be watching Time Team again. So many familiar faces and the added bonus of the gorgeous Dr Gus and his lovely voice. Keep up the good work guys 😁
The photogrametry is a great addition. Nice to see some of the old crew still around. This show is an institution. 🙏
I like this new host. You can tell he has passion and is excited about the mission. It’s contagious! Lol
So good to see you guys back in action; moving. My favourite program of all time ;)
A total triumph! I absolutely love TT, missing our friends though.
I really appreciate this. I love y'all! Sure, a few are missing but to have Time Team return at all just gives me a warm feeling. ❤️ The music from Small Room still accompanying the show is the icing and the cherry on top! Thank you.
It is nice to see Dell is helping here. They have gone up in my estimation.
I like the narrator’s soothing voice. It’s nice to have the old style and the new style. Well done ! I actually like this organic style .
Appropriately enough, the notification for this popped up whilst I'm currently sitting watching an episode from Series 3. How things have changed in 25 years! I look forward to (re)watching this dig as one continuous programme. Great idea! Nice to have the two different formats to suit different preferences.
Fabulous polyglot of ages! Looking forward to hearing more soon. Good luck with uncovering more of its secrets James.
So very glad to have Time Team back again. Loving this!
I so enjoy Gus as the narrator. The new Time Team seems to have a different "flavor " to it. Lower key perhaps. I enjoy it as much as the originals. My thanks to all the folks that create such an educational and fun show. ❤
I've seen all the old episodes 2-3 times and this new setup is better! Love it!
John is the best !
So glad to see him back in Time Team!
Greetings from sweden.
I just got a glimpse of Pro. Mick Aston jumping up and down watching the tele, enjoying the new time team saying they did not forget me !
Really hitting their straps now. Its such a shame that the BBC or similar wont fund this program.
Really fun, informative, and entertaining. Hats off to the audio post gang...they really provided an even, intelligible, balanced speech and sound (a pint goes to whoever had to contend with the drone audio - we have suffered together). Cheers!
Love TT and hope there will be many episodes 👍
Loving it, and glad to be able to see it in Australia. I'd be happy if you extended your digs, from 3 days to a whole week :) All the Best
Watched the original airing and i gotta say, feature length ones are great for view time and time retention. And loads more convenient for those that want to watch the whole thing.
That aside. Missed everyone so much. Great to see Carenza and John back. Looks like Matt forgot his hair somewhere though.
congrats on the new time team.. just awesome,, well done team
I love that you guys still use Victor's drawings thats amazing!!!
What a relaxing and educational program, love it!!
You said it better than I did.
Having a doctorate in history it will be hard for him to be as 'surprised' as Tony. However, he's just as interested.
I agree; well said. Perhaps later on, he'll do better.
43:34 - Time Team has always needed a Time Team dog wandering around the sites. Can this dog be on more future episodes?
Great video, thank you for sharing 👍👏💖
So very interesting❤ It is exciting to have a New Time Team. We love you here in the🇺🇸
Great program, so interesting with so many unanswered questions raised.
Wonderful to see the familiar faces and the new ones are clearly exciting.
This team is such a joy! ... while Mick and Phil are sorely missed All other Classic team have weathered well
[ I can't say I miss the always Eeyore Tony!] I adore the new host. He's Calm informative and entertaining.
I'm also glad John Gater no longer has so many "problems" or "nightmares"
Kudos TIMETEAM🤩
Sadly, the new host needs an encounter with a taser or something; he put me to sleep, something Tony never managed, lol.
Dr., a bit more eager energy, please?
Absolutely wonderful ! Long may it continue

I love to listen to Gus Casey-Hanford. An excellent host and narrator.
I've been a fan of Time Team for over 28 years! Mick, Phil and Tony are sorely missed. However the new additions are exceptionally good, and of course the "regulars" provide continuity. It's great to see the series back! Thanks for your great work!
Glad to see the ability of this program to change the people, yet still keep to the point of the show.
It took me a bit, but I'm beginning to appreciate Gus's more relaxed delivery. On one hand, less puns, on the other hand, it's a more relaxed watch and the archaeologists' enthusiasm is as good as ever!
Loved this. So happy TT is back.
What a brilliant programme thank you
New time team !!!! Am I dreaming ? So glad your back.
