Interesting...The principles are still the same as my ventures in the 70’s to the 90’s. Gear has definitely gotten better. The Snugpak SF Bivy has been great for me. I don’t have the whole system, I’ve only used it in wet environments down to about 20 degrees F so far. The wool blanket and clothing trick around fire has saved my gear many a time...when I was a teen in SW Montana my grandmother always made sure she sent me off with a small flask of Brandy as I wondered off on ancient wooden snow shoes and military surplus gear...lol
Thanks for the tip of using the 2 quart Pathfinder Bushpot in winter instead of Titanium . I have that Bushpot and am gonna switch-out my Titanium Mess Tin for the stainless pot , your reasoning makes sense to me . A Black Diamond Collapsible Snow Shovel is also a great add on with the proper Snow Shoes , I think .
Nice vid, bruh! 👍 Agree that the bushpot as one of the best pieces of gear to carry-winter and three-season alike. My Pathfinder pots have been great. And yes to the snowshoes. People who do not spend time in the back country in deep snow just don’t understand their value. Which MSR are you using? I’ve only used the Revo Ascents.
@@blackhawkbushcraft I like to use the lightning Ascents 30in just because it gives you a lot of decent surface area if you’re carrying a heavy winter pack.

Cross country skies towing a sled was great in the right conditions...

@@MountainAdventureChannel Yeah, I’ve seen the Lightnings and they look great! Haven’t tried’em out…yet.
Good video! I just have a really important question. Will you come sleep out in the snow with me and keep me warm and safe? Lol ❤
