It's not even my drone, but that landing had me stressed lol. Thank for the great review!
I use Pelican Air cases both as carry on and checked bags. Through multiple trips to China, Thailand, Singapore and Philippines, they are great.
Only thing that is annoying is when you land back in USA at 11pm and US Customs is convinced they are used for using commercial goods, not my personal belongings.
I have had to answer as to why I use a commercial case like this as luggage and tell them because airlines abuse your luggage, let it get wet on the tarmac ruining your belongings then they let me pass. Of course, I usually offer one more time if they want to inspect my dirty laundry after a 2 week international trip.
Just in CASE you're not sure you want a Peli, you make a good CASE for getting one.
Kai W I forgot you were a dad now.
Omg he is a dad
Pa ta tum txxxxx
Booooooo
Just ordered mine on amazon got tired of carrying all my tools by hand my back and shoulder hurts so I just had to get one. I’m so happy I did can’t wait to get it this Friday I’ll be using it for everything!!!
I just started getting into scuba diving and I noticed a lot of the veterans and old boys use the big Pelican air case for their dive gear. They’re expensive, but I’m really considering it.
This is a great video, love that you showed the practical side of things & even had footage of using it irl :)
They make great cases. I used to use one for a high powered CB radio and two antennas and mic. Worked perfect.
Hey Lok, thanks for your explanation and showing. Really informative 👍
I am a traveling photographer and my 1535Air recently cracked in the field. Pelican is refusing to honor their "lifetime guarantee of excellence" warranty and instead being very passive in their emails and phone calls. Seems they are riding on the brand name at this point without actually standing by a quality product.
Did you ever get it resolved? I was worried about this when I saw they had been bought... as thats never a good thing for a company in the long run...
The wheels should be changed to softer rollerblade wheels. Less vibration better for the lenses when rolling on sidewalks or bumps. Pneumatic tires would be best. Load the lenses and body near the top of the case.
the tape idea to transfer the hole layout was genius!
Same thought and I actually bought one after watching your review!
And what do you think about your Pelican 1535 after a year of use?
The problem with Peli cases is if you have to fly. With a lot of Airlines moving between 7-10Kg in-cabin limits, greatly limits what you can take into the cabin due to the base-weight of the case.
Good review very informative 👍🏽
I love my Pelican 1535TRVL!!! Great video 💪🏽💪🏽🔥🔥
I have their 1510 and it is excellent. It may survive driving your puckup truck over it. It is a good chair, in an off-site shoot. Solid material walls and its empty weight is 6 kg (13.2 lbs.).
This new version 1535 Air seems the same design but with the honeycomb reinforcement it is a lot lighter at 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs.) A Rimowa Cabin S classic carry on seems extremely light, MRP £720, but actually weighs 4.2 kg (9.26 lbs.) Take the divider insert out and use for regular travel. For photography, look at 3rd part insert from TrekPak (1510 may or may not fit). And, one airport on arrival did not release my 1510 on the normal conveyor belt. Luggage handling assumed it held valuables. On a fast business trip with my clothes and toothpaste in it, that felt like bummer. As it is very strong, I am not afraid to check it last minute upon boarding (and get some reward for helping free cabin space.) As alternative to the 1510 I have a Tenba Roadie Air Case Roller 21 carry-on )in fabric looks but internally reinforced and strong enough to seat a 200 lbs 6' 1" person.) Its looks give stealth properties. Still, if the Peli(can) 1535 Air stacks on the 1510, I had preferred that as 2nd case. (The third one is a humongous 1560). That still fits on a shelf in a 50 cm (about 20") wide Ikea cabinet if 60 cm (about 24") deep. One shelf for each case and sliding in and out is easy.
Very cool landing!
I like the accessory screwed on . Great review
Best drone landing scene EVER LOL 😱🙌🏽💯🚁🚁🚁🎥
I have the 1510. Love it for my C200
my like for that awesome landing
love your review
That intro was highly entertaining.
I think you just sold me on pelican air! thank you!
Fantastic video!!
I have the same case, and it fits the carry on dimensions for the US exactly. With the expansion in the top of the case, I can pack all of my camera gear and my notebook. I pack a soft, canvas shoulder bag in my regular luggage to use as a day bag.
I am currently working on the next version of this suitcase
like the new center parting in the hair
Awesome video !!!
Love the intro It should be their commercial.
Well I'll never get one but i still enjoy your take on it
Excellent Wideo Lok, love the case. I look forward to see your next Twip,😀✌🏼
If you ever need to ship these cases via a courier, consider the ANOA Shipping Tag.
Brave Pilot! Great opening shot. Pelican has the best case!
Aircraft carrier when the drone landed, good one. x'D
What a landing!
I need a case like this when flying with multiple pistols to different training exercises.
love ya Lok!
I need a Pelican camera case even less than you do and I keep trying to convince myself I don't need one. I have settled on telling myself that I can store my stuff in there just in case there is ever a flood or a burst water pipe in my house.
I use a 5 dollar bag =p
How about talking yourself into buying a Rimowa Aluminum carryon so you'll have a place to store old family photos in case there was a fire! 😂 Actually, that's where I store my photos! lol
I got the old 1510 model with the TrekPak inserts since 2013 it was only 200$ then. Its awesome but its ~7kg empty.
Great gear case. I own both the 1510 and 1535Air and I think the 1kg penalty on the 1510 is worth the extra protection. I can stand on/jump up and down on the 1510. I can't do that on the 1535 Air without worrisome flex on the walls, and I think I could potentially fracture it. If I had to purchase again, I would not purchase the 1535Air and stick with another 1510 for peace of mind. Depends on how much that weight savings is worth to you.
that opening was fun
Hello Lok, i actually own a Nanuk case but im curious about the little bag u use because i cant find good bags for clothes when i carry my case w me
thanks for the review;
will buy an orange one online now HEHE
That intro lmfao
I have had over 25Kg as carry on a few times. Rule is. as long as it looks light when you are handling it. no one will check how heavy it is. and flight crew don't carry a scale as far as i know :D
Agree, I once thrown my weekend bag a bit too hard at check-in counter and was asked to put it on the scale; it was VERY obviously why I was asked to weight the same bag I had used for so many times when that was the ONLY time I was asked to weight it! After that I always make it look easy to handle my carry-on in front of airline staffs, even if it's not!
If anyone on the plane decides to do the same thing, the plane most likely won’t even take off.
@@pablovi77 unlikely
I'm no pilot but I was pretty geeky about airliners~ I believe there are sensors on almost all modern airliners that can "weight" itself, but I also know that pilots still calculate weight the "old" way, based on fuel, cargo and checked luggages were weighted, and predetermined assumption on passengers + carryon + water/food. I don't know the exact procedures and why pilots still do the old ways when there's system onboard to weight the plane, but my best guess is they would cross reference the reading from computer and their own calculation. Anyway, I believe even a video crew of several overweighted carry-on luggages, it's close to nothing to the total weight of the plane.
can you shoot another video of how you organize and what you bring inside the case? thank you
May be not just about the Pelican case, but I may talk about my gear once in a while!
Well, I just use a big shoulder bag or two. If I’m traveling it’s easier to carry it around.
Hi Lok, what do you think of Nanuk 935-1006?
Where did you buy the divider? Its very usefull
If you guys use the Peli case for storage, don't you use a dry box?
Love the intro! Haha
Lok and Load. 💪
Nice and impressive
Background music is on fire 🔥 🎉
Do these fit on Ryan air flights
Haha I'm sold, looking for one soon in a shop near me :)
Finally, a new upload! Where did you fly your drone in the intro? Was it Cheung Chau?
ABOUT TIME ! and you are never going to use one of my drones again !.... ha ha ha. The reason I went for the older lid organiser is because I'm cheap 🤪but it has been handy as I keep my travel documents between the lid and the organiser.
Well can’t argue if it’s like half the price but almost the same thing! And right it would be handy to keep documents between the organiser and the lid!
🤣🙌🏽 Best intro! ❤️
Hi there mister..does singapore have any pelican boutique that just sell only pelican cases, luggages etc? If yes please let me know by replying to this comment..thank u so much..
He occasionally use it for LOK-cation shoot.
the opening landing hahahahaha
Thanks for a great review. I'm looking at buying the bigger one 😁
What about the Nanuk 935?
HMMMM..... I might be into this one.
You can put a large lock on it that's actually secure
I the 1k like - nice job, simple and direct to the point, funny started with the drone (ha ha). Keep going
When will I see bokeh bros again loc? You are amazing. Wonderful wonderful wonderful
Pelicans are great but I the tiny wheels. Even with the upgraded ones.
new sport for down time between takes drone powered flight case racing
you didn’t show when you were walking on water to get the pelican case in the water because you were completely dry afterwards. lol
Always got this question: how's it a good carry-on when it's almost 5kg, and the carry-on allowance is only 7kg?
How does that work??? I do really wanna know.
bymrchu fly business or group one or non European airlines so no one would question you.
bymrchu yeaa....the 7kg rules really killing me
Some airlines allow 10kg, and when they see you with a case small enough they don't even ask about the weight.
Source: i work in an airport
They have a 7kg limit in Europe? My backpack already already weighs around 21lbs (9.7kg) with 1 body, 3 lenses (1 of which is only the cheap 50mm), laptop, portable hard drive, headphone, water bottle, compact umbrella, headphone, Nintendo Switch, and some miscellaneous cables. Was interested in this so I don't need to keep killing my back.
But if US or Asian airlines start adapting those stupid limits it'll be a waste of $300 dollars.
If there could put 4 wheel on it, will be perfect.
Its weight is listed at 4kg??? So with most airlines nowadays switching to 7kg carry on limit, you are limited just to 3kg of gear before you are risking high fees or forced checking in of your precious cameras. Not a good deal.
I've had the older (& even heavier) Peli 1510 since 2015/16 & this is the precise reason that I've never actually tried to take it as carry on. You see plenty of people getting away with it, but sod's law says the first time I try it they will demand to weigh it, find it's way over the limit, insist I check it (at vast expense), then smash it in the hold & compensation won't cover a fraction of what's inside. It's a nice idea, but it literally relies upon flagrantly ignoring the rules & just hoping that they don't ask to weigh it.
OMG brother my heart nearly stopped and i was screaming NO NO NO NO dont land the drone on the case.... Good job nailing the landing though. I lovee that case it is a great case for all gear...
Wait you are allowed to have 2 of these as carry on?
The Pelican is carry-on, the Billingham bag is personal item as it (barely) fit under the seat
Like for the landing 😆
I have the 1510 and it's a solid case. Only problem with the Peli 1510 are the wheels which get all the vibrations from rolling into the case and equipment. There a Mod that you can replace the original wheels with roller skate wheels ( which I did) and it's much better. Easy to do and find on google
Thanks for posting! Will it fit in an overhead?
@@jongraf1714 yes it will
Mine is on it's way; thanks brother!
Does anyone focus on his toes after his outward bending thumb?
Lol I've never thought of can my toes bend outward! *trying* No they can't!
I ALMOST GOT HEART ATTACK
I don't have any camera equipment, I'm buying it to just use as a carry on!
lol same. it does a better job than others designed for the intended purpose. just like how i use a metal filing cabinet as my dresser 😂😂
@@gerard4441 😭
Typical Pelican case - I used them for transporting gear for years. Built like a tank.
Lovely description thank you. Such a shame it doesn’t have four wheels.
No better cases .. Carry on?? Ok if you say so.... but please check with your AL.... "Lok said it would fit" might not work..
Naked foam is the worst. It breaks down after a couple years, gets dust on everything and then turns into a gross goo.
Lok. That landing was amazing!
Too pricey for me but I'd love one. It's nice to dream :)
One local distributor here offers 30%off their list price! :)
The CCs are funny.
got bunch of nanuks and pelican cases...now trying to convince myself not to get that 4 wheels think tank derby.....
haha i have the derby and is the best thing i got for a while
@@floriansievi1710 lucky you, if there were only a 4 wheel peli, haha
"Be a man!" Lol.
Your channel is rapidly becoming the best photography channel on UA-cam.
Just realise how rich Lok is by the look of his home ( a giant balcony in Hong Kong!)
Nah I live in those “village house”, it’s actually cheaper than apartments in town
Someone needs to add the Interstellar music to that beginning drone sequence.
I'd love to but I need to monetize my videos~
Hahah "be a man" I had a serious Russell Peter flash back
Be a man, do the right thing hahaha
It’s not carry on size for all airlines.
You’re getting a like just for the drone landing
what if i use this for my clothes?
You can. I just think clothes are not easy to break?
for a carryon, the heavier the case the less stuff you can put inside.
These products are sold under Peli name in one part of the world and as Pelican in another. All the same.
