    Made in Torrance, California (suburban LA), PELICAN is the first word and last word in tough cases. Pelican was founded by diving enthusiast Dave Parker, an avid diver looking for a case that could handle deep sea pressure without leaks. From that original quest, started in Dave's basement, Pelican has grown into the world's leading supplier of the toughest, most rugged protective casings.

    A friend working for a startup loaded travel cases with servers that were BOLTED to the frame then sent them to the trade show through FedEx overnight. They arrived, the cases were intact, but the bolts holding the servers to the case frame were SHEARED OFF inside the case from G-forces. The servers still ran OK for the show, but couldn't be secured adequately for the return. On return, they were totally trashed even though the case was intact. FedEx paid dearly for those servers.

    I have had 38 Pelican cases of all shapes and sizes over the years. All have been great. The ones I’ve sold were only sold because they no longer fit my needs. Although they are more expensive than some other brands, they are the top of the class and American made

    I was in field service for 40 years and for 3/4 of that I used Pelican to transport tools. They were shipped by air, FedEx, UPS and several local freight lines through out the Rocky Mountain region as well as to support fellow engineers across the nation. Almost forgot the 30000 miles a year in a company vehicle.
    The only issue I ever had was wearing out the wheels (3 sets total) and never had an issue getting them replaced by the manufacturer. IMHO Pelican is a go to product that can do the job.

      Right!? Ughhh. I was about to buy one earlier today, up until I saw a youtube video by user "Riggs Taylor", tittled: "What No One Knows About Pelican Cases" (dated May 2022) about this same misleading "lifetime warranty" issue.
      In short, he had his Pelican1510 badly cracked (got a 12 inch L-shaped crack along a corner's spine) while at an airport in the USA; and while there's no impact indicators or signs of negligent abuse, Pelican refused to help, and used the fine print of their "warranty" as an exit.
      Their warranty is misleading at best and
      dishonest at worst; because it deceivingly states that all warranty claims of any nature are barred if the product has been "altered, damaged, or in any way physically changed, or subjected to abuse, misuse, negligence, or accident".
      Basically, "lifetime" warranty against breakage .....unless damaged by anything other than by themselves at Pelican while at the manufacturing processes; which is then obviously not a "lifetime warranty", nor a "warranty" at all.
      Riggs Taylor then asked them to reword their intentionally deceiving policy clauses, but they still haven't. I wanted my 1st Pelican so badly, but I guess I'll just go with the $100 version from their competitors at HF.

    I used my Pelican 1120 for 15+ years of hard caving.. it finally gave out and I couldn't shut the latches anymore, and the new latches don't fit on the old box. Kindof sad to see it go but I believe my next one will last even longer with the redesigned two-part latches.

    These cases are nice. But they are overpriced SOOOOO MUCH! Especially their organizers. Many american brands think "Made in USA" is an excuse for 5000% price tag (hey, Zacutto!) but... No, that isn't true :D. China is on your tail, guys)

    • @AaronTheBaron93
      @AaronTheBaron93 Рік тому +1

      I've found that you get what you pay for, including when comparing high quality American brands to Chinese products. If anything the Chinese product is a worse value because it presents a facade to make the quality appear as good as a well-known Western brand and is therefore usually priced for only marginally less, but the quality doesn't hold up.

    • @StardustLegacyFighter
      @StardustLegacyFighter 10 місяців тому

    • @sonofacheron
      @sonofacheron Рік тому +12

      The price is high but you can’t even get a halfway decent Chinese knock-off for $50 - even with slave labor and zero environmental safety regulation. The $ spent on a Pelican allows Americans to support families on a living wage. Families with a stable income are the pillars of strong communities and are resilient and independent.

    • @AaronTheBaron93
      @AaronTheBaron93 Рік тому +3

      Plus, the Pelican case is better. The Chinese stuff doesn't hold up, it's not engineered as proficiently, and there's no warranty to speak of. Also, please link to comparable products that are actually a better value. Pelicans are popular because of their continued quality. If parts were giving out after their decades on the market, people would know about it and the brand would lose its value.

I have some boxes from Pelican and Harbor Tools generic clones(used for drones) in business .There is no difference in quality ,used snd tested for years included war fields in Ukraine .Defently you can get same quality for 5 times less in 2024 buying Chinese (Harbour Freight) products
