Your nephew nailed it! My electric skateboards are faster in straight line speed on nice pavement and asphalt. The Onewheel wins in maneuverability and off road which gets me where I need to go quicker by taking short cuts and trails rather than being confined to the sidewalk and streets. Great video!
Yea man kids know best! I have been trying to get him on the onewheel forever and it took the pint to do it. I’m stoked to start riding with him! Next just gotta get the wife out there!!
I've never ridden a Mini X, but a full size e-board. I've had the Pint for a few weeks now and have over 100 miles on it. For me, it's 100% the OneWheel. The Pint is so intuitive and feels like it reads your mind. No remote to worry about and acceleration and braking are natural. Another major factor is the way the Pint handles uneven terrain. The pneumatic tire is a huge plus. The slower top speed doesn't bother me, as I'd rather the better ride experience of the OneWheel and sacrifice a few minutes of trip time. Lastly, the OneWheel does a better job of quenching my thirst when it's not snowboard season. The floating sensation and feeling of doing fast, wide carves is worth every penny.
John D Dyer well i got really injured when it broke the thing is i didn’t even brake it the connection from the board to the mini x was messed up and i even reset i a bunch of times so it would work then sometimes when i slowed down it would speed up and yeahhh... i hit a jump-speed bumb and yeah i got hurt but it’s okay i’m better and i’m loving the onewheel pint!!
Just ordered my pint and I’m stoked, first board period. Excited for all the new possibilities (exploring and filmmaking). Gotta say though that before even having the board I just love the positivity across the onewheel community online, really sick🤙🏽 Great vid!
Great video, my friend! I'm about to buy my first electric vehicle, and I've been watching a lot of these videos on every brand and model, but it's hard to know what to take from them all. Well, your video really helped me decide to pick Onewheel. I'm about to put my order in right now! Thanks a lot for helping me decide! Happy riding, my friend.
@@JohnDDyer Hey you! Just thought I'd follow up and tell you that I finally got my Xr! I love it so much. It threw me off at about 17mph, so I'm going to pick up some fangs and practice, but I just wanted to say thank you again for pointing me in the right direction. I hope you and yours are well in this crazy time. Stay safe, and stay healthy. Best wishes, friend. 🙏
@@merryjane7558 my XR and I have a healthy relationship based on respect and admiration 💖. My favorite way to get around in the city on short trips is with my XR and a backpack, and the car stays in the garage much more than it has in years. :) Now just how to teach my partner how to not be scared of it, so I can ride with my bestie everywhere... 🤔
There are way more possibilities with the onewheel: trails, tricks, and commuting. Boosted is just a commuting speed demon, but that speed doesn’t mean much if the terrain is uneven.
@@JohnDDyer I'm 100% for Onewheel, but you just answered my question without me even asking. I want to try a boosted board someday just to see what the speed difference is like, because Onewheel is more about enjoying the float, ANYWHERE, but has a lower/more dangerous speed cap
I never even had a thought about the boosted board. I just became excited about the Onewheel. The Onewheel is like that catchy song that you can't get rid of in your mind, it's so far out there! Lol
@@JohnDDyer For sure! Boosted seems like it's more for those that want the classic skateboard/longboard feel and onewheel is a good all around mode of transport, and it takes uphill climbs like a champ! 😁
I own a Boosted Mini X and a Pint. I'd choose the Mini X for the following reasons: 1. Longer range and safer if the battery dies when riding. 2. Cheap and easy to repair, with new motors only cost around $100 USD. 3. Easier to evade people trying to mug you because it's faster and there's no worry of nose diving.
John, Ben here from Texas. Dude GREAT content and great job on the side by side. I'm researching al I can on the onewheel because I really want one. I first saw it when Casey Niestat got one. kids and I are actually making our own DIY boosted longboards. I cut them out on my CnC. we are going to use belt-driven motors.
I have the pint X (obviously not available when this video was made) and just recently had a go on a boosted board for the first time after bumping into a guy while out cruising and we tried each others boards, it was a hell of a lot faster but it felt very restrictive when carving, with a onewheel you can weave around people at slow speeds and make really tight turns, the boosted board is definitely better for cruising fast on roads but it's still not got the onewheels feel. The guy with the boosted board was straight on eBay looking for a onewheel 🤟
I own the mini X as well as the Onewheel Pint. I have put 1,300 miles on the Mini X within 1 yr of riding and put close to 80 miles on the Onewheel within 2 weeks. The Onewheel delivers an amazing ride experience like no other. Really smooth, manuaverable and can carve deep like you are snowboarding on Pavement. When I went back to riding my Boosted after 1 week of riding the Onewheel, the boosted felt so stiff and stuck to the ground. I felt like I can't turn. :) The boosted is built for speed and it is loud while the Onewheel is slow (stay within safe limits to prevent nosedives) and sounds like a Prius. If I had a choice I would pick the Onewheel based on fun factor, overall riding experience but boosted is built for speed if you want to get somewhere fast.
Same. I don't have a Mini X yet, but after riding the Pint, a regular skateboard is SO stiff. Nothing can compare to the turning on the Pint. It's incredible.
Onewheel for me. Bought an XR after having a mid-range longboard and completely fell in love with the float life. There's no comparison. And with the XR I can go 20mph if I want, usually go around 16-17 though and the range is amazing.
@@JohnDDyer The Pint will serve you well until the next top model is released I would think. For me, the biggest thing isn't speed but the way it handles different roads and terrain and that's the same with both the XR and the Pint. Living in a medieval city in Europe we have cobblestone roads in some places going back 500+ years and as you can imagine they aren't exactly suited for e-skates. The OW with the big beefy tire eats them up like nothing though!
If you were asking me i would say the pint for sure, I have ridden mine for only about a week and it’s worth every penny! (It also looks way cooler in my opinion)
I have a Pint and now I want a Mini X too. As a lifelong skateboarder, I'd love to have a powered skateboard. The Pint is the most fun board I've ever ridden. I highly recommend it! Very different from a skateboarding, though.
Pint looks great but I don't know the thought of riding it bothers me haha. Maybe one day I'll get over it and get one. As for the Mini's maneuverability, since it's a short deck with a tail, at lower speeds you would turn with the tail. Kind of like a street skate board but heavier. I have a similar custom one with a kick tail and I could turn on a dime but that's just because I have practice for decades. If you practice turning and balancing on the rear wheels you'll be able to turn anything. All that said a Pint does seem like a more enjoyable and you would probably need less practice to learn how to turn well. Keep up the videos though! Just subbed!
thanks J, yea since I just learned to skateboard last year (boosted longboard was my first) the mini is much harder for me to turn, im sure for any skateboarder its super easy tho!
John D Dyer Yea two different styles of turning honestly. Primarily using the tail at lower speeds and carving with a long board. Either way it’s all practice to get good at it! The more Pint videos I’ve watched by you the more I want one by the way lol. If I had seen these during the sale I would have ordered one!
The rubbing against the jeans comes from a cardinal sin in skateboarding, ie. using the mall grab to hold a skateboard, which you just should never do lol. You can keep the board sideways with the grip on the outside under your arm. Much more comfortable and it will never hit the ground. Having said that though, you'd want a board that you don't have to carry around when empty, but can just continue riding manually. Not knocking the video, these boards look like a lot of fun to ride!
Oh man I had no idea! I always carry the board like that lol. Mainly bc it’s pretty heavy to carry on the side. But ur right u can push it if needed unlike the onewheel for sure. The belts and motors do add some drag tho
I have the Mini X and I have to say, it has made commuting 10x more fun. I was wondering if I should sell it to get the Pint but I love it too much, so I guess I'll just have to save up another round like I once did.
if u put ur weight fwd on the skateboard, especially downhill the back wheels will loose traction since there is no weight holding them down and they will spin
I got a second pint for my wife! you are only the second person to notice the little teaser :) I thought it was ironic since I was tryin to pick between the 2 boards but I had already purchased a second pint lol
Haha no doubt. Yea I had never skateboarded before I got my boosted so I’m still learning. I bet for a skateboarder it’s awesome. Have u tried a onewheel???
