Oh? Do explain. Seeing how this is a fictional ending that never occurred, and that Twilight would likely perish under the given circumstances, hence the title: "One Last Letter", it's ironic that the last lesson she had to report was such. And compared to the other, redemptive lessons she's learned throughout the series, this one remains to be the truest and most defining. That sometimes, as much as you hate to admit it, there was nothing you could have done to save that which you held dearest. At least, that's my view on it.
Yet you can always do something, anything can be fixed. I'm pulling my logic on the fact that Equaestria is a land of magic based off of two factions of magic: harmony and chaos. the show revolves around the "Elements of freindship". the ending you depicted is an ending where Twilight lost all HOPE that anything could be done to fix the problem.

One might believe that anything can be fixed, but in reality, some things just can't. You can try your best to prevent it, and take steps to delay it, but some things in life are inevitable. In hindsight, one could see things they could have done differently, but by then, it's too late. Often times we like to see and recollect on the positive things around us, but the painful truth is that we can't fix everything. The lesson to be learned here is not that bad things happen, but that you must learn to accept that there was nothing you could have done to stop it.
I know that some things can't have been prevented (true Ex:my friend commited suicide on my birthday.) but when it comes to over throwing a tyrant, push becomes shove and next thing you know your in the middle of a revolution. chances are Discord would be overthrown at some point or another. nothing lasts fo ever 'specially tyrants.

I stopped watching this show a very very long time ago, but this song is wayyy to good
Same here, I think I stopped caring after S3 ended. IMHO the show started lacking more and more in the quality department from Season 3 onwards. I loved S1, I liked S2, S3 was watchable, but the rest was just unbearable for me. The longer it went on, the more it looked like an effortless cash grab/toy advertisement to me. Also dissociating from the fandom due to the influx of cringy children in 2012-2014 only made me even less interested in the show. But I'll always keep the fan music in my heart.

When I hear this song, all I can picture is Twilight, black and white and drained of all her power, going to face Discord one last time. She's alone, she's powerless, and she knows that this will be the last fight of her life... But she'd rather die than live in a world ruled by chaos without her friends by her side.
