    Northridge finally had the J8 MC kit back in stock so I got that and am about to order all my parts for the front and rear. Will be glad as the brakes on my JK have not impressed me at all.

    JT is a single puck, 51mm. JK is a single puck 48mm. Main benefit is obviously the massive vented rotor and larger pads. This shouldn’t be noticeable with the later year 1 1/16” JK master cylinder but combining it with a huge twin puck caliper on the front may require an unobtainium J8 MC. On my todo list! Excellent video help for this upgrade!

    And I installed all my parts. My pedal feels firmer and stopping is better. Not as good as when I changed the front ones to the big brakes but a good noticeable difference. I used the ultimate duty pads from DFC.

    Great video, thanks for putting this together! Any chance you have the torque specs for all the bolts? :)

    So just to be clear, we are going from the JK set up where the front rotors are bigger than the rear, like on everything else I’ve ever seen, to now the rear being about half an inch LARGER than the front, correct?

      That’s right, but a lot other other big brake kits have that. The ABS System will compensate that. No problem.

    I mocked up the JT parts on my JK and I only have about 0.020" clearance between the outside face of the rotor and the brake caliper bracket. The inside face has about 0.080" clearance. The rotor is definitely not centered in the bracket. Did you run into this issue? One of the caliper slide pins has a rubber sleeve on it. Do you knowi if it goes in the top or bottom hole of the caliper bracket?

      Pin with Nylon bushing goes on trailing edge (top). Squeeler springs on brake pads go on leadging edge (bottom).

    Great Videos! How did you solve the e-brake pad issue? Does the jk work with the jt?

      From the looks of it on the video, it looks like it's all bolt on, and the e-brake stuff stays the same.

      JT rotor hat is the same dimensions as the JL and JK rotor hat portion. So nothing is required for the e brake SHOES.

    What about boosters? Will any models be able to replicate the j8 kit for the same type of upgrade that the JL/ JT has done for the Jk?

      The newer JK models have the bigger booster (I forget the cutoff year) but the 17 has the better booster.

      Rockauto sells the HD booster and HD master cylinder. That's all you look for when buying them. But I think the later model jk have the better HD booster.

      @JustJeep_It I need one. Tired of ruining clothes when doing oil changes and wrenching.

    Can you use gladiator front break rotors and calipers ?

    • @techi3075
      @techi3075 7 місяців тому +1

      I’m told the best practice it to use the JLfront brakes and JT rear since they are vented with large pads. The JT sport fronts are much better than all the JK. Larger rotor, and 2 piston caliper. If you bump up to the JT rubicon HD front brake, it’s a littl larger than the std JL brakes. Problem then becomes what brake booster and master cylinder are you working with. Too small and the petal won’t be firm. 12 JK and below had 1”. 13 and up JK had a 1 1/6”. And the Mopar J8 is a 1 1/8” master cylinder which is the best for larger than stock brakes but it’s impossible to find usually. Always out of stock.

    Does work on Rubicon

    Will these fit the stock 16in wheels on a 100% stock jk?

    • @rubi2.869
      @rubi2.869 6 місяців тому

      No. Same with the Big brake on the front axle, or the BR6 brake from the newer JKs. They all fits only with 17inch Rims or bigger.
