    I have made 20 slimline pens and 10 cigar pens, and I thought I would like to make some click pens. The package arrived 10 click pen kits and I came to You Tube to find out how to put them together. Two people have said they don't make click pens they are too much trouble. Thankyou for your instructions I will play this video a few times to get it right. This is a great hobby I am having a ball making these beautiful pen. Thanks for your help. Have a great day.

    I love the Atom2 pen kit, really shows the grain off, especially for my segmented blanks. Also the Eliot pen kit looks and works great if you want a centre band. Useful and informative video, thanks John!

    Don't have a pen kit but an expensive pen exploded on me and couldn't find anywhere that showed how to reassemble a pen when the clicker had also come apart, so thank you very much for that

    As one of your customers who assembled an Eliot click pen incorrectly, I'd like to thank you for publishing this. The instructions I received said the click mechanism will only fit together one way. Well, the wrong way looks almost indistinguishable from the right way, but is a disaster, so please be careful. This video shows how you can test that it's working, which is great, and I would suggest that you do this while assembling the pen after pushing the end cap on but BEFORE pushing the centre band on. The point to be aware of is that the inner pistons must fit right through the cylinder and stick out the other end. Maybe it's obvious but it wasn't to me.
    That aside, my second Eliot pen works very well and my wife, for whom I made it, loves it. But I am concerned at the comment that not all Parker refills are the same and some might not work. I was provided by you with gel refills, which write beautifully, but which you say are "slightly different from ours". Can I safely buy replacements?
    It occurs to me that most pens are not used by the person who made them, so may I suggest that ProKraft could usefully provide suggested tips to users, such as that, unlike nearly all other ballpoint pens, you refill the Eliot by unscrewing the nib. And refills are "Parker-style". The centre band cannot be unscrewed. Please don't try. And, make sure to save the spring and put it back in with its fat end towards the tip. And, gel refills have a plastic cover over the ball that must be removed before first use. Don't worry if you see a tiny plastic ball roll away the first time you use it.
    By the way, prospective purchasers should be assured that I am very happy with the quality of the kit and the resulting pen. I intend to buy more, including the optional pencil mechanism. It's just the assembly instructions that could have been clearer.

      Thanks Chris - most Parker style refills are generally OK in these kits however there are so many that we have no idea how many types there are and certainly couldn't test them all. As an example Parker themselves supply different refills to different countries - why? I confess I have no idea. All the ones we have tried work but you can see a difference in design in a few.

      @@prokraftuk thanks for clarifying that. So many industries have agreed standards for their products that it's frustrating when you find one that hasn't. It's not as bad as printer ink cartridges, though, thank goodness.

    Great video. I will try the Eliot to see how I do. Great information.

    Brilliant video and really helpful as I'd had issues before - I didn't realise the tolerance was so critical here. A useful follow up to this would be a video showing how to dismantle these kits in case we've shaved the barrels too much.

      Hi Paul,
      I will see what I can do, however with any click kits that have plastic parts (and that is nearly all of them) it is virtually impossible to disassemble without breaking the parts.
      To us that's not a problem because we are one of a very few suppliers that carries spares of some parts (tubes, mechanism & nib connectors). If you have someone else's pen you need the check if they have spares because chances are our parts won't fit someone else's kit as they will likely be different threads.
      I hope that makes sense🤔.

      @@prokraftuk it's actually your Eliot pen. I love the kit and the mechanism feels very solid and high quality but my sanding and turning leaves a lot to be desired. I'd happily buy the replacement bits if I can save the ones I mess up!

      Hi Paul, today I have tried to dismantle a pen and failed - they are almost impossible as the end of the heel is open and there is nothing to brace against. The best I did was to separate the two halves and re-install the nib.

      Thank you for trying. I think I'll measure the blanks and try to be precise when sanding. The Eliot is too nice a kit to stop making.

      @@prokraftuk I, too failed to dismantle my wrongly-assembled Eliot. But, after putting it in a freezer and by sacrificing the wood, I was able to get the centre band to come away from the nib end, then the back end. This allowed me to get the plastic mechanism out and the nib connector but I've not yet persuaded the rear end to come free. If I could, I think I could make an Atom-style pen without any brass tubes. But it's been so much trouble it doesn't really make sense except as an exercise.

    If the ink cartridge is not coming out all the way, while assembling properly, is there a way to adjust the internal mechanism to make the tip of the pen to come out about 1mm further?

    • @prokraftuk
      @prokraftuk  2 роки тому

      Not really, like all click kits they must be made to the correct length otherwise the travel is affected. The best suggestion is to pull the front tube off and re-turn & finish and then re-assemble.

    Where/how can you get the plastic pin parts & click buttons?!

    • @prokraftuk
      @prokraftuk  2 роки тому

      They are only available as full kits, the mechanism must fit into specific sized tubes
