The Instruments are from Left to right: Clarinet, Trumpet, and Trombone, and the Trombone player (soloist) is playing on what is called a "Harmon Mute."
The cool distorted trumpet sounds come from a mute. Held in left hand and moved in and around the bell. Embouchure (lips) technique and valve manipulations as well. This guy rocks!
I adore that this is now on the main channel! This is truly epic and her voice is phenomenal...but their playing is still above and beyond anything I'd have expected before the first time I heard PMJ. Thank you for giving us this one DJ, I love these livestream reactions, they somehow seem more sassy sometimes *insert DJ sassy gif here* LOL #HerdLove
You dont need me to tell you to keep listening to haley Reinhardt. But i do recall you had pmj spice girls wannabe in andrew sisters style as a must do. Also miche braden singing guns n roses sweet child o mine is a next level transformation
Thank you, thank you AND thank you. New band for me and I prefer this to the original. It’s not that it’s better, it’s that dam this sounds fantastic to me
He can read music, but isn't reliant upon it. Bradley: "My piano career had seemingly ended at age 11, and I was overjoyed. (But) It was that summer that I discovered George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and from there, the sound of jazz... I could barely read music, but I became determined to learn how to play this style... Rhapsody In Blue was really hard. It didn’t take me long to figure out that the sheet music was well beyond my skill level... Undaunted by this, I tore into the score in the same way that I read books (or write blogs, for that matter) - I skipped around to the interesting parts first. ...From there, I discovered stride piano and heard Fats Waller play A Handful Of Keys. I couldn’t find any sheet music for it, but I was able to build upon what I had already learned about ragtime and picked out a good chunk of it by ear." More recently: "As an improviser, I no longer need to sight-read a piece of sheet music to play a song, because it is far easier (and far more enjoyable) for me to make up my own arrangement of it on the spot."
Thinking of your respect for SCATTING....Not all the people of the middle east can understand the humor of The Flintstones cartoons.....But the folks in Abudabhi do...;
Haley's version of Creep is indescribable, the best cover of it period.
There are not enough "S" es for the amount of SASS in her voice. Dayum!!!
Dirge is a New Orleans funeral marching style of jazz.
Pianist is the guy behind PMJ. ❤ The trumpet (trombone can too) use mutes that give them that sound
I’m a PMJ fan for the same reason I love A cappella singing. Real music, no autotune, no computerized noise.
But that's not what A Cappella is.
Postmodern Jukebox and the Voiceplay cover are tied for best cover of Seven Nation Army in my book
Those lucky devils are standing right behind her.
To hear the inspiration for this song's style, listen to Cab Calloway's 'Minnie the Moocher'... .

Love the new reaction fan! YASSS, indeed!
I've heard the original and Voice Play's take on this song but this was completely different in a good way!

Haley is SO awesome. :)
Haley has some original stuff, as well as some covers.
You've just seen a real Jessica Rabbit

Wait until you hear Hailey sing Creep or Hailey and Puddles Pity Party sing Mad World.
Also Scott Bradley, the founder of PMJ, can't read music.
