"Ride" (1998) Comedy/Drama Movie When Leta Evans (Melissa De Sousa), who has dreamed for years of being a music video director, becomes an assistant to a famous director, she wants to make a good impression. Her first job will be transporting the cast of a video from New York to Miami. However, due to a tight budget, they will have to travel by bus. The strict Poppa (Malik Yoba) watches out for the crew, but there is still ample opportunity for trouble -- which could end Leta's directing career before it begins.
I actually thought Stacy was a nice person. He won me over. He protected his sister, he made sure the boys were ok by taking them to the dance, He gave Mike his blessing, He’s faithful to his gf. Stacy was a good hood man. 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also Stacy was in DOPE. The whole theater in NYC started screaming when he showed up on the screen. It was amazing.
This was a low key classic. It might not have the critical acclaim of other movies that came out at that time but it probably aged better. It definitely makes me reminisce on those innocent days of trying to figure out how to talk to a girl you like, being scared of someone and having to overcome it and fight them, the pressures to break your virginity, school dances etc. It's always fun to go back to those times.
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc That's a good question. I have no idea. It might have just been bad timing. This came out a week after American Pie which also dealt with high school and losing virginity but on a more outrageous level.
I totally could relate to Mike's character, growing up in Brooklyn Crooklyn as a Haitian that migrated to the states at 9yrs old. One of my favorite movies. Great review!
Girl, you’ve reviewed all of my favorites, The Wood, Life, Brown Sugar, Love n Basketball, Soul Food & The Best Man. Black movies at the best. Top tier. Sanaa is my favorite actor and anything with her and Taye, I definitely love.
My number one movie I found it I can play this movie and never get tired of it I love the Jazz to the music on the background of the movie the music hip hop music Luther Vandross if this world were mine
Love the content by the way just a suggestion have you done two can Play that game the first one with vivica A fox Morris Chestnut Anthony Anderson Monique and Gabrielle Union?
The accent that Sean Nelson gave is no NC accent I’ve ever heard. I am a North Carolinian born and raised. We ain’t THAT country and we sure as hell ain’t that naive and awkward toward the world.
I had the roll-a-paper when i was a kid. I kept all the #'s i pulled on there. As long as u pulled at least 1 # u was good. There was one homie that nevah pulled, we called him Goose Egg, Goose or Big Goose.
The wood is a classic! The anxiety of not knowing how to dance and talking to the opposite gender in jr. HS is hilarious! Big Mike practice dancing with that rabbit...lol. Another awesome commentary as well as reactions. Enjoyable
Now I'll watch this every opportunity I get. You can keep Love and Basketball. I wasn't for the struggle love even back when it came out. 🤣🤣🤣 This movie reminds me of myself as Mike moving to Houston from Chicago. I was on foreign land lol, but I met my bffs in elementary school and we're all still cool today. Maybe that's why I love this movie so much. 🤔
😞Been feeling under the weather guys! More Content Dropping Soon. ❤️🥰

Taye Diggs has played the some of the best commitment-phobes...Best Man, Brown Sugar and The Wood. And Sanaa Lathan is nearly always in the mix...
He's a lowkey rom com king.

A girl like me ? I was a nerdy girl in glasses no one was checking for me 😂🤓
@@StruggleReviewzTV Don't feel bad. I was a nerd in junior high. I didn't get cool until high school. I was awkward around girls.
Why do you think this movie wasn't as big back then

@@ContextReallyMatters Me too!!!
I'm not black and this movie is universal. It's just one of the best coming off age movies regardless of the race of the cast or the viewers.
No idea how likes work on UA-cam but I like this.
Exactly. Very universal. A beautiful thing.
I love this movie. Why didn't they let Melinda play herself as the grown version? Sana looks nothing like her.
I never understood that especially with them all being around the same age!
@@StruggleReviewzTV Exactly. 😄
@@StruggleReviewzTV the age gap part was super strange...
This is what I will never understand lol. Or they could have at least had another actress who looked similar to Melinda play the older version.
Malinda Williams is the eternal teenager.
This film is IT. It's one of my favorites. It's a Man's film... Honestly, just like the Best Man and Boyz in the Hood.
This is a classic movie. I haven't seen this movie in a minute.
In a see of yt content creators, I love having someone who discusses black movies lol. Another one of my fav classics
I totally could relate to Mike's character, growing up in Brooklyn Crooklyn as a Haitian that migrated to the states at 9yrs old. One of my favorite movies. Great review!

Oh yea this is a great movie. I used to watch it all the time because it was always shown on TV. But I like it more now..its better as an adult.
The same director did brown sugar
Stacey played in the last season of snowfall as Skully, he killled that role!
I was so happy to see him there!
It’s great to see him working again.
