That scene when Quinton was playing the guitar and looking at Harper was foreshadow. Quinton knew what Harper did and had read the book (Quinton isn't slow at all). Also Mia knew that just cheating on Lance with any random somebody wouldn't make him feel how she felt so she had to make it extremely personal so that he could feel everything she's ever felt that's just my thoughts on that.
I mean, Mia never even intended Lance to find out, she just did it to get her own quiet revenge and just didn't care if he ever found out or not.
Well, she admitted to Lance on the sequel she was the one who went after Harper.

I can’t wait for this movie review. Harper was a toxic fool and so was Lance. But Harper messed up both his relationships with him and Robin by almost cheating with his ex Jordan. They both weren’t crap and neither was Jordan and Mia.

The fact Harper tried to hide a book HE ACTIVELY HAD PUBLISHED has pissed me off since the first time I saw this movie. If you’re gonna be messy, you gotta stand on the mess you make. Those are the rules!
Harper pissed me off when he blamed Jordan for Lance finding out about him sleeping with his best friend’s soon to be wife. He should’ve never wrote about the affair in the first place. Instead of sitting down face to face with Lance and informing him about his past indiscretion, Harper published his own betrayal and refused to let Lance read the book. Don’t tell all of your business on a page just so that the whole world can read it and get mad when people throw it in your face. Yeah, Lance was gonna find out eventually, but Harper should’ve had a one on one conversation with him as opposed to airing out his dirty laundry in a book. I didn’t feel sorry for Harper at all, and he deserved that ass beating. Shit, if I was Lance I would’ve whooped Harper’s ass too.
Harper had the audacity to come for Quintin because he thought he was better than him. Turns out they were just alike, Quintin was just honest about it

The simple answer is that the movie wouldn't have happened otherwise. I also get so annoyed when they try to make these movies about black men and 'all black cast' and in reality every male cast member, save Morris Chestnut, only marries and have children with white women. Am I wrong to be annoyed by that?

I don’t condone cheating on either side, but this movie showed me two things:
1.) Most people love to cheat but can’t handle getting cheated on.
2.) Men like Lance are straight up hypocrites with shallow levels of entitlement and can’t take what they dish out.
I think I heard Lance say he knew in the back of his mind Mia was cheating. He acknowledged all the cheating he did, and would have accepted it. What made him really angry was his FRIEND and GIRLFRIEND BETRAYING HIM.

Harper, Lance, and Mia are all a hot mess. Harper is messy for writing this damn book in the first place. He kind of acts as if he is the most intelligent person in the group. But, honestly he’s just a more polished and secretive version of Quentin. He screwed his best friend’s girl, refuses just to be honest with Robin, and was willing to cheat on her with his “one that got away”. And Jordan was also desperate as hell for considering it. Quentin is a dog through and through but at least he’s honest. (I still don’t get why he hooked up with Shelby who treated Murch like trash but that’s a whole other convo) Then this man has the balls to propose at the wedding! Forget all that Spur of the moment mess. After all he put robin through the film a creative proposal would’ve been better.
Lance’s level of entitlement was ridiculous. He’s a prime example of someone who can dish it but can’t take it. He wanted to be Mia’s one and only and to an extent fetishized that. Dude was a Christian with community dick but lost his shit when his girl lost her virginity to a man that wasn’t him. Yes Harper was wrong but, out of the two of them Mia owed him the most loyalty since she was to become his wife. But, he couldn’t get mad at her because he loved her deeply and that would’ve made him a hypocrite. If he can’t let it go then he shouldn’t have married her.
Mia is wrong because she chose Harper to hurt Lance. She chose to stay with him after knowing he cheated. That’s on her. I felt bad for her initially but, I don’t anymore. Because she possibly would’ve chose someone else close to Lance if Harper refused. But, since she picked him her victim card been gone and that sweet little angle box Lance put her in was all a fantasy. So moral of the story is if someone hurt you just leave. and if you’re current partner won’t give you something that’s a serious deal breaker for you, no one will blame you if you break up with them and find someone who will.

Harper got on my last nerve throughout this movie. Lance had toxic tendencies too but honestly I think he truly loved Mia despite everything. Harper romanticized his friends and used them for his book.
I always say this when this franchise comes up in conversation 😭 Harper and Robyn should’ve never gotten married. They should have broken up and let the sequel and tv series explore Harper and Jordan’s relationship instead
Lance went lower, and Mia went to the pits of hell. Honestly they kind of deserve each other cuz while the victim, I think Mia changed to a worse person by staying with that man. The best revenge is a good life, not trying to make bad people miserable, since you have to be miserable as well.
This is the review i have been waiting for thank you so much. I saw this in theaters with my cousins during Thanksgiving holiday when it was released. Harper wasn’t shit. He shouldn’t have put his dirty laundry in the book knowing that Jordan & Quentin would find out. He couldn’t commit to Robin because he always had feelings for Jordan, he couldn’t tell her he loved her in front of Jordan, Jordan knew they were together & had the audacity to call Robin stupid & Harper didn’t check her. Harper also ridiculed Quentin for his career choices, he had the audacity to blame Jordan for Lance’s kicking his ass & he proposed to Robin at Lance & Mia’s wedding reception after everything that transpired at the bachelor party. Robin deserved better. Merch was a severe people pleaser who lacked boundaries, Shelby was controlling & manipulative, Jordan was career driven & didn’t need a man, Quentin was the realist one of the group, instead of putting Harper on blast he waited until Harper got his, Lance was a hypocrite. He claimed to be a Christian but his actions proved otherwise. He cheated on Mia throughout their relationship, he jacked Quentin up when he asked him was Mia well within her rights to cheat on him, Quentin was unfazed & asked who’s hand was it & then Lance hyped Harper up to cheat on Robin with Jordan. Mia put on this image like she was an angel. Fun facts: This movie was directed by Malcolm Lee. He’s the cousin of Spike Lee. He wanted to release this movie before The Wood but fell short by a couple of months. Larenz Tate turned down the role of Harper. Taye Diggs said Nia Long slapped him for real & he was angry at her for it. Taye Diggs & Sanaa Lathan were also in The Wood & Brown Sugar, Nia Long & Morris Chestnut were also in Boyz N The Hood, Nia Long & Terrance Howard were also in Big Momma’s House & Nia Long & Taye Diggs made appearances on Empire. Morris Chestnut & Monica Calhoun were also. in The Earnest Green Story. Morris Chestnut & Terrance Howard were also in The Perfect Holiday, Sanaa Lathan & Regina Hall were also in Disappearing Acts & Love & Basketball, Monica Calhoun was also in Love & Basketball as well. Shelby was my favorite character for the entire series since her first scene. Her entrances on both films and the show were ICONIC! ESPECIALLY TBMH WITH THAT CRUELLA FUR!!!! Melissa knows how to steal a scene and I love it. 💚
Oh FYI, he included Shelby in Unfinished Business because they went to college together and were in the same social circle as she was both Mia's linesister and Julian's girlfriend/handler. 😹

Harper knew it was a juicy storyline that would sell well, so for selfish reasons, he put the messy book out for his own gain. He didn't care about spilling his nor his friends tea, and he thought he was Soo much smarter than everybody and tht they wouldn't put 2&2 together/or if they did in fact put 2&2 together, he could just deny and tht would be ok with everybody....move along friends , I sold my juicy book about our skeletons , get over it and dont read it pls😂🙄

Lance was always a weird character to me. Would he have been as mad if it were anybody else? But it was Harper who was basically the male version of Mia in college, and that caused the blind rage? Idk I always question men that have to bang everything in sight lol

If Mia had hooked up with another guy, he would’ve been mad, but would’ve let it go because he did plenty of cheating. The fact that it was Harper who he trusted is what caused his rage.

I don't blame Lance for cheating as much as I blame Mia for staying and putting up with it... She knew exactly who Lance was and what he was about the day Harper introduced them and she made the choice to not only stay but marry and create a family with him...

It's no secret that groupies come out from every walk of life eager to get their chance to be with these athletes and entertainers not caring about martial status. These wives knows what they're signing up for. Being able to financially provide is a very important part of picking someone but it's not the only part.

Even though lance deserved it I’ll never understand why he remained friends with Harper. Harper had sex with his girl, wrote a book about it, DEDICATED THE BOOK TO THEIR MARRIAGE, went no contact with lance for 20 years and only decided to show up & mend their relationship when he was having some money troubles and needed lance to approve a bio. Harper is just an odd individual like WHY??? WHY?? He wrote in his book about feeling in some way responsible for lance and Mia’s union. he resented lance for how he treated Mia and all of that was his revenge. The book the dedication the affair. That’s just my theory though anyway, I love you and your content and I hope you’re able to complete the entire series it’s my favorite if u can’t already tell 😁

Cuz I felt the same way you did when Harper was talking about significant others in his book, then in the series it finally tells you that she did go to college with them which is why she's included in the book.

But Lance wasn’t gonna give up the woman he wanted for egos sake, he wasn’t gonna give up his love not for pride or ego. And that showed just how much he really valued Mia because any man especially black men child would place their ego over love and there is no place for love where ego & pride lives. To have a man put their pride aside for you, because they value you that much, they wanna be married to you be connected to you forever. It’s too bad he decided to value her so late after dogging her out, this is totally in movieland because in real life men who are cheaters never stop. Getback or not. It’s best to leave cheaters & not be the long sufferer like Mia was. In all honesty ladies love yourself more than to wait on a man to value you. The value has to be there from get. Just recently paused my Stellar Blade gameplay for this recap.
I know people will disagree with me, but I wasn’t on anyone’s team in this scenario. I wasn’t on Harper’s team, I wasn’t on Lance’s team, and I especially wasn’t on Mia’s team because two wrongs don’t make a right, it makes the situation worse than it is.
Cheating is not okay.
Yes, Lance has cheated on the woman he supposedly loved, however, what Harper and Mia did together didn’t make it any better. If I were Mia in that situation, I would’ve left a long time ago and never looked back. Also, the only person I felt bad for was Robin because she deserves so much better than Harper.
