+Constocorp However, the Prequels also had tons more lightsaber battles and space battles than the OT. So the Prequels actually do have a pretty level sense of compromise between politics (showing how the rest of the galaxy is affected by the wars, something that the OT *never* did) and flashy explosions (which, for some reason, seem a lot more realistic in the Prequels when compared to the OT).
+The Smoking Skull The explosions are more realistic because the prequels are more modern and the OT was made in the 90's, can't believe i have to point that out.
Has anyone realized that jedis have had less and less training progressively Anakin- I have trained with the Jedi councils for years Luke- I trained for about 3 days with a out of practice old dude Rey- wtf is this glowstick lol
The theory is that Rey is Luke's daughter. She couldn't just have known how to use a lightsaber like that. She had to have Jedi Training. She was a part of the new gen of Jedi luke was training before Kylo Ren killed them. Luke and his wife survived and hid Rey on Jakku. Over time she completely forgot about her past, only remembering she was abandoned. Later when she fights Kylo Ren, as she on the edge of the cliff, she decides to accept and take in the force. When doing this, the song Binary Sunset plays. The same song that played when Luke's aunt and uncle died, and decided he needed to learn the force from Ben.
It's this particular view of the Force they are treating as the hidden truth. They did summarize the story of SW, but from a different perspective than that whicj is usually held.
+ProfessorButts Because people keep on saying that killing Palpatine brought the force into balance. Come on people the force was unbalanced because there were too many people on the light side in Episode I.
+ProfessorButts Your right if you watch any star wars TV show/film they state that the dark side isn't evil its just different. this is everywhere in the 'The Clone Wars' if you watch it through
Kylo Ren has both light and dark side of the Force inside him... that's why he's so powerful... It's not about good and evil... he just has both sides...
i have an unpopular theory. rey shares a lot of similarities with anakin. origin unclear, a loner, raw, stubborn but have their own moral standards. but i believe she's not with the light side. she may started off unknowing of her power and teaming up with the light side, having mentors and such, but i believe her journey would be a lot more complicated than just that. her longing for her family to return is one indication. she won't even go anywhere for fear of her family return. that's too much love. and as we know, it was love that anakin fell to the darkside. her weapon of choice is another indication. she wields a staff much similar to well known sith-preferred double-bladed light saber, instead of a sword or standard Jedi light saber. also the name. rey is from rex, which means king. as in emperor. one ruler of all. mark my words, she belongs to the darkside.
nice theory, but I personally disagree. Rey comes from "grey" like not black (dark side) or white (light side) but grey, aka balance. Rey doesn't belong to the darkside or the lightside. she could be a grey jedi
interesting and i see your point, but, like darth plagueis, i disagree and like what luke was teaching her in the last jedi, balance is the key, no sith or jedi, or many sith and jedi. either way, its balance.
One thing that supports this is in early drafts for The Force Awakens it had Anakin's Force ghost appearing with Luke, when he was in more. It showed his ghost switching from Anakin to Darth Vader, highlighting how he is the only Jedi to have accepted the Dark Side of the Force.
+Contevent Obi-Wan as well. He was definitely angry when Qui Gon died, and went on a rage attack which enabled him to break Maul's saberstaff but also made him careless and get thrown off the ledge.
Xepthrichros Indeed, but later on, he never give in to rage again. He is pure light side, while Luke seemed to have accepted the part of darkness in him, without letting it rule him.
+Dylan O Brien It constitutes a Theory as even die hard fans disagree over if this is or is not the Correct Way of viewing the Force... ...For me, it is indeed 100% correct - But there are many other fans who will totally disagree
I really hope that in Star Wars VIII they introduce a character that is on neither side. I reckon that it will really deliver the message that "from a certain point of view", there is no such thing as good or evil, only choices.
Except there is very clearly an acknowledged reality of right and wrong, good and evil. Sure, some characters weren't as right as they thought they were, the Jedi Council for example, but to say that there's no concept of right and wrong in Star Wars is ludicrous. Darth Vader slaughtering defenseless younglings? Please, that's not "evil" and "wrong", just "choices"...nobody's really wrong in that situation. On a separate note, there are "gray Jedi", Force users who are good and serve the light, but are "further in the shadows" so to speak, can be more flexible with their use of all sides of the Force, believing that Force abilities typically identified with one side of the Force or the other aren't good or evil in and of themselves, it's what you do with them that makes a person good or evil, and they require intense discipline and introspective vigilance to keep themselves in check lest they unwittingly succumb to the dark. Qui-gon Jinn, Asohka Tano, (and assuming he will be canon again and not too drastically changed) Kyle Rayner were examples of Grey Jedi.
+Tyler Worsham Personally I'm not a fan of Star Wars beyond the movies, but I liked your explanation of the "Grey Jedi" from the TV shows and novels; it seems like there is a lot of story potential there and I hope they do incorporate it in future installments somehow.
3:30 - "It's important to point out that it isn't ever stated as good over evil - just dark and light." Quote from the movie at 5:25 "Your thoughts betray you father. I feel the good in you." Not "I feel the light in you."
yourtub Look up mr.plinketts reviews. The movies are flawed beyond belief. And not the type of flawed where you only see them if you nitpick, but the kind of flawed that is so awful and so inconsistent that it makes the movie an unwatchable mess.
ethanwdp Price having sound logic does not make a movie enjoyable. Movies are meant to be fun, not necessarily realistic. You can have a movie with no loopholes but it could have no character development, plot, terrible acting, etc etc. There are a lot of aspects that make a movie good.
yourtub You're the reason why people think the average IQ of prequel fans is under 90. Lucas tried to make the prequels the dark, gritty ones that had a complex plot. His idea of a complex plot was something a child would come up with; throw in a bunch of political mumbo jumbo and then force us to watch scenes of stale actors repeating said political mumbo jumbo. If you'd actually watched the video I recommended you, you would've seen that Plinkett tears this a new asshole in the first ten minutes. You would also see that he focuses more heavily on how the movie is unenjoyable *because* of the flaws. The actors are stiff, the screenwriting is horrible, and the CGI makes the movie look like a cartoon. It shatters your suspension of disbelief when you realize that, for example, Obi-Wan was staring blankly at General Grievous because he was staring at a fucking blue screen. Just watch the damn review, even if you don't agree with it. It explains very clearly why the movie is awful.
jar jar a secret sith the way he fought at war is known as drunken fist where u look like u just stumbling but u can fuck some one up and jar jar reason anik went to dark side cuz jar jar said hey lets give chronicler power over everything
I think it would cool to see Rey get really comfortable with the force to the point where she realizes the power she has and slowly goes dark. Meanwhile Kylo is still battling the call of the light but eventually gives in. One scenario I imagined was Rey resisting Lukes advice once she realizes her power, she strikes against him but Kylo stew in to protect him. Idk, it's a very general idea but I'm just hoping they begin implementing original ideas going forward.
+wiiplaya25 I'm all for new ideas, but Rey won't go dark. It wouldn't fit the character. Ren being caught in between interests me, perhaps they could make him a grey jedi.
+SkiDaBird - no, no, no, there's no such thing as grey. Not when it comes to the Force. If you only use the Force as a guide and ally, you're lightside. If you - even just sometimes - break and bend the Force to your will, for selfish or destructive purposes, you're dark side. If you're light side, you could for example disarm your opponent by Force Pulling their weapon. If you're dark side, you can fry them with Force Lightning. If you use Force Pull and then Force Lightning, that doesn't make you grey. That still make you dark because you misused the Force distructively. The notion that "Grey Jedi" can tap into both sides is nonsense because the light side defines itself by NOT tapping into the dark side.
SelvesteSand But that's so boring... I a SW nerd, but not enough of one to dispute you. I just want a good story. Now that I think about it, someone like Zuko was what I was thinking.
3:30 he says "it's backer state as good over evil" even though it is, it Empire Strikes Back Luke says to Yoda "how do I know the good side from the bad"
This comment is going to do into details about 'The Force Awakens, and some spoilers, so please be warned. Also if someone wishes to comment, do the same. There's a lot of points in TFA that point to two big things. First, Han and Ben were working together to get Snoke's trust fully in Ben, and Two, Rey is either Luke's daughter or a close relation. First, there's a lot of points behind this, his refusal to answer Leia about bringing him back, just embracing her, the fact he could have caught him in a private area, but shouts at him on the catwalk in the Starkiller Base where everyone can see, the fact he promises Ben he'll hell him with anything, then what looks like helps with pointing the lightsaber. Second, Rey wasn't surprised that it was Luke, meaning either she knew he was the only one or sensed it. Also the lightsaber calling to her is a clear indication of the Skywalker blood. More likely with the Prequels bringing those Midi-Clorians in or whatever they are called.
These are what I've thought of myself and seen on multiple forums online, the first being extensively gone over by those who have watched it 10+ times.
Also,Han Solo clearly knows who rey's father is.That scene when the Melenium Falcon was aproaching Maz Kanata's Planet Rey says"I've never known there was so much green in the planet,Han looks at her like he felt guilty for some reason.Han trusted her with the gun.Maz asks Han"So who is the girl?"The scene cuts before Han Solo says anything.
+Aaron Brookes "Second, Rey wasn't surprised that it was Luke, " if you mean on the island at the end could it be that maybe just maybe it's because the whole movie they are trying to locate Luke and finally succeed? ...
When I first started college, I had to read Joseph Campbell's, "The Hero With One Thousand Faces." Luke Skywalker was one of the characters on our book. I love this take on Star Wars. There is one reference to good winning over evil just once though. When Obi Wan Kenobi tells Anakin Skywalker, "It's over Anakin. I have the higher ground." That can be argued as good over evil. Thank you for this documentary!
That's like saying young Anakin had to be a Kenobi, if there was no back story. If we just saw him in the Jedi training room and onward. It's just speculation. Rey could very well be another Anakin like figure having no father, that she was conceived through the aim of nature re-establishing balance to the force (dark and light).
I think this theory is right on - I remember as a kid, the pastor at our church (this was back in the 1980s) explained to me that the movies were all based on eastern mythology, so this is something that has been known even before the "prequels" hit the market. While I still believe it's a struggle between good and evil (Luke saying over and over "I can still feel the good in you") the force is definitely grounded in the "yin and yang" religious philosophy, that Lucas believes in.
nly89 Hey, no problem, I understand and will do my best to explain my comment and why Screen Rant's analogy and description of Tao is wrong. In Screen Rant's initial explanation of the exposition that the Force is responsible for they describe that neither light nor dark are good/evil. Granted that the Tao would show that neither Ying nor Yang were good or evil but the Tao makes the assumption that we live in an amoral universe where true concepts of good and evil can not actually exist, just humans perceptions of what is considered morraly right and wrong. This assumption can not cross over into the Star Wars universe as we know that there are severe representations of the opposite sides of the Force. Objectively, the dark side is evil, a force for evil in the universe and a bad presence. The light side is the opposite to this power but it is also objectively good. The Tao makes no exception for good nor bad because in the grand scheme of things the universe ticks over and finds it's balance. I can understand why Screen Rant would try to draw parallels between these two ideas but fundamentally the comparison is flawed because the nature of a fictitious universe, where good and evil exist as actual, real dynamic forces does not equate to a real life theological practice that teaches that there is no objective good or bad, just different perspectives. I hope I have managed to answer your query, but please let me know if you need more.
+Garcian Smith I see what you mean but isn't the perspective of Good/Bad in the Star Wars universe objective? The Light (Galactic Republic) back in the clone wars thought they were "good" but the CIS wanted to be independent from the high taxes/senate corruption and wanted freedom. Even the Empire wanted to rule through fear but the ultimate goal was peace (which is good?). "Tao makes the assumption that we live in an amoral universe where true concepts of good and evil can not actually exist, just humans perceptions of what is considered morraly right and wrong." ^ Doesn't that explain the Star Wars universe pretty accurately? Not trying to start an argument, im pretty interested in this discussion!
XCrimsonPyroX You can say that the CIS were in fact not wrong to want independence, however, their motives for wanting that independence were questionable. Though they were manipulated into their shift for independence by Sideous who is objectively evil. We can consider that the motives of the empire were "peace" but in the way that a fictional story is presented, in this case Star Wars, we are shown that the Empire is a force for evil, generally. It would be like trying to argue that the Deceptions are freedom fighters which, despite Transformers EU lore, they are not. The depiction of the Deceptions is that of an insatiable lust to conquer, quell and rule for means of power and control. The difference between the fictional universe of SW and our own is (unless you have some form of theological belief that would say otherwise) is ours is a universe without absolute extremes of good and evil. If humanity was wiped out tomorrow it would not be a bad thing on the scale of the cosmos, even if we would object to such an idea, it would not be evil. In Star Wars we are presented with a narrative that asks us to suspend our disbelief and agree that there exists concepts of absolute good and evil within it so for me it does not explain it, not with regards to Taoism anyway. No offence taken, it would not be right of me to make a claim without the reasoning to back my claim up, thank you for your time.
+Utku Güldoğan batman stands for the good, the Lightside, but he's called The Dark Knight, there are still some darkness inside the light. The theory is perfect.
Finally an analysis of the franchise that doesn't ignore the prequels. I'm getting tired of so-called "true Star Wars fans" who actually openly hate half of the Star Wars movies.
Your arguments are flawed. Obi Wan in fact says that Darth Vader is "a Master of Evil." Further, it doesn't matter what is said. The entire saga portrays light as good, and dark as evil; from Vader's menacing suit, to the Emperor's ultra-wrinkled and dis-colored face. The portrayals are not value neutral. Arguing otherwise is just silly.
Yobachi2007 But, what does evil mean when he states that? You probably were going to answer the Dark Side, but no. The reason people move to the dark side is because they want to protect those closest to them, and they will go to any height to protect them. But, it doesn't mean you can't master the Dark Side without being corrupted. It's because the people think the people close to them are more valuable, they also think others are worthless. Sidious was just corrupted by his greed and hunger for power, but that doesn't mean he was corrupted by the dark side. Do you see what he means now? Because if you don't, then you're the dumbest person ever.
Nonsense. the darkside is evil as I already demonstrated. And your claim about "The reason people move to the dark side is because they want to protect those closest to them" is based on nothing Thanks.
Darth Vader/Anakin Didn't just turn evil for no reason, it seems your arguments are quite flawed as well. Just because something LOOKS evil doesn't MAKE it evil. That's flawed logic and makes no sense whatsoever. If it has stripes does that make it a tiger?
Yobachi2007 Mmmkay, if you say that the reason that people move to the dark side is because they want to protect those closest to them is not true, then why did Anakin turn?
Love doesn't lead Anakin to the dark side, his attachment and fear lead him to the darkside. They have an entire conversation in Ep. 2 about how love ISN'T forbidden; attachment is forbidden.
+Blair Palmerlee Yeah, why does everyone misunderstand that? It's not that the Jedi can't have compassion for other people; they just aren't allowed to let that compassion influence them to take unreasonable decisions. And their no-attachment rule is only for Jedi. Jedi are basically police, judges, and executioners all in one, so they have to be absolutely objective! It's not like the Jedi are "against marriage" as many people assume. They don't believe that EVERYONE should let go of all their emotions, as many people assume. No, they only want JEDI to let go of their emotions so they can objectively serve and protect the people - who are, of course, allowed to have emotions. People that say the Sith make more sense than Jedi because they encourage passion make me facepalm so hard.
Romantic love is forbidden as it leads to jealousy and possessiveness the fear and/or disgust of loosing what one has . Look around, look at your own life experiences that's basically what monogamy and the polygamous lifestyles are : monopolization of sexual access . Those that have studied wildlife state that the attempt to monopolise sexual access to the female (s) creates agression as a result . Only with the promiscious Bonobos is there far less agression and jealousy is not tolerated and the females correct the possessive behaviour of the males .
Reazon UK I had a pair of geese once. One of the pair was viciously mauled by a dog. When it bled out and died, it's mate ran back and forth making the most horrible, mournful noise I'd ever heard in my life. It did this until it died of exhaustion. Do not preach to me about the nature of love, your pretense is read by eyes that have seen more than you.
Blair Palmerlee I don't really get what your trying to say . Your discription about the the emotionally traumatised goose ? No different to the devestation most people would feel when loosing a loved one . This is my point about jealousy and why romantic love and child rearing was not in the make up of the jedi order . You make a good point about attachment which is basically Irational clinging ,but jedi are selfless , unconditional love is not romantic love. Romantic love is a selfish drive and i don't mean that in a derogatory way . If you disagree with me on that (especially if you have a partner /wife and are truly in love ) try convinving your self and your partner that you selflessly get nothing out of the relationship and it's just a big sacrifice . There are conditions involved in selecting a partner otherwise marriage wouldn't exist , you can't say you love your partner unconditionally because that by deffinition means there are zero standards involved , that it makes no difference to you wether it's your partner your with or somebody else .
Reazon UK Do you believe the goose had standards? Do you believe that she was mourning a selfish, sexual monopization? You should go out into the world and find out what love is, if you really wish to speak about it sincerely. I have loved without sex, earned nothing from it, and continued to love. I know of many people who have met without pretense and learned to love without conditions. So you see, the absolutes you're claiming exist are not absolutes at all. You just haven't seen enough of the living world to know.
so the skywalker clan need to stop to prevent the shipting of the light and dark ???? , cause base on this vid the skywalker lineage is the driving force of the light and dark.
I think that anakin did what he was meant to do! Bring balance! Think about it ... Dozens of jedi and only 2 sith is not balance! By reducing the jedi to almost nothing then there was finally balance
Robert Ortiz you're right Anakin DID balance the force but not in that way. The prophecy was fulfilled because HE (Anakin) in the 6th movie was the one to end the Siths' reign by killing Palpatine and saving his son. That's how Anakin fulfilled the prophecy.
This is always how I've thought of Star Wars. I didn't look as deep though, so I was a little confused why the light side of the force was always more or less trying to wipe out the dark side, even though they had really driven home the point of the force being balanced. I really appreciated this video!
anakins transition to the dark side was really dumb.. he turned after he had a dream his wife would die in child birth so he started killing everyone in a psychotic rampage.. he had a fucking dream... thats the dumbest reason to turn to the dark side.. he woke up from the dream and he went and killed children because he had a dream... it could have been a different reason but it was that bizarre..
+Matthiu Ryin I hear ya. In Anakin's defense though, he did have a vision of his mom dying and guess what? She was fucking raped and murdered. So I guess that really fucked him up to the point that he took that vision of Padme dying super seriously. And oh yeah, she also died just as he saw in his vision.
+poontang3zizo well thats a decent point.. he probably could have waited like 5 minutes tho before he went out and massacred everyone... its also a huge overreaction and thats an understatement.. it also doesnt make any sense for him to think that by killing everyone she would love him still... so he pretty much ruined it for himself and then got mad at her and threatened her... so its liek it wasnt even really about her and it just didnt make any sense..
+Matthiu Ryin He was desperate to prevent anyone else he loved from dying. Palpatine realised Anakin's weakness and slowly used it against him. Anakin was only looking to protect Padme from dying, but eventually the dark side took him and he lusted for total control.
+Louwrens Holtzhausen i dont think that explanation justifies it still.. he was trying to save his wife from dying so he killed everyone on the planet... it doesnt even correlate in the first place.. i guess im gonna go with, he was pissed that he thought it was going to happen so he feels like everything is being taken away from him so fuck it ill kill everyone... but not that he could save her because that whole part of it doesnt make any sense and ruins it for me..
ONE QUESTION for all you LUCAS WROTE THIS ALL WITH A PLAN......Why does Luke MOUTH KISS HIS SISTER in Star Wars? Fact is Lucas was winging it and all the Fanboys pretend he didnt.
I agree that it felt like Lucas made some stuff up as he went along, but he always knew what the force was. In a new hope, we can tell he already had a great understanding of how he wanted the force to act and work. There can be a hidden meaning or subtext to the force, but it's just a theory... A FILM THEORY!
Thank you! I keep telling people, killing Palpatine didn't bring the force into balance. At the end of Episode III there were two Jedi and two Sith. Balance!
whez08 Yeah, it is. Well, not really. George Lucas stated that Star Wars was, "Like poetry. It rhymes." It's what happens. It's like history repeating itself, because there's no creativity to change the schedule of time.
Luke went into the cave of fear and went to kill Darth Vader and when the helmet dropped it showed Luke's face which means his greatest fear is HIMSELF.
Luke: "I feel the good in you father." Vader: "DON'T YOU GET SMART WITH ME BOY! I brought you into this world, AND I CAN TAKE YOU OUT OF IT!" Cuts off Luke's hand again.
this video made me appreciate phantom menace. It is vital to the story, even though it's super boring as a chapter and Lucas made it worse by trying to spice it up with cgi, it is vital
I Do Believe Rey Is A Kenobi, Why? Her Outfit Similar That Vision she Saws Only Obi Wan and Yoda will be heard She Uses The Force to Mind Control [Skywalkers never use Those]
+PTLemon there's nothing to suggest Kenobi ever had a family, nor any Jedi (besides Skywalker). Good luck explaining to the audience how that works and good luck winning your audience back. Stupid theory should not even be said out loud.
+Uncle Max you also hear Luke and Vader in the vision scene. hell, they were going to show the Luke vs Vader duel on bespin in this scene but they had to take it out
I just realized Han Solo could have let kyloren kill him so rey can have the power to use the force and to turn kyloren to the lightside and Han Solo noticed what obi wan kenbi did.
Jared Ahuatl Exactly. I never understood people who forget what he did right and only focus on what they don't like. I'm not a fan of the prequels either, but the guy fucking created Star Wars!
I can call Lucas a hack without hating him as a person. Lucas did not create Star Wars in a vacuum. The more control he had, the worse the films became. Case in point, Episode VI.
This guy was so sad when he finally finished this video - like he was happy at first, then he went outside and everything just seemed like too much of a simple beautiful day.
+RioluMan Her mother may if abandoned her, she'd remember if Luke was her father plus I don't know think Luke would break the Jedi code or Obi Wan so it can't be his granddaughter either.
This video so full of poop. They try to see meanings that are not there and in a light that was not originally intended. And how in the poop can luke see that darth vader was still good at heart...really? Darth vader killed children in great numbers...that's the problem with the prequals, they ruined completely the episodes 4-6 and the ending of Jedi makes no sense after seeing episode 3. Murderer of children and many other innocent...yep, a good at heart. What comes to the "you might figure out what happens in the episode 7-9"...yep, because in star wars headquarters there is very lazy and untalanted screen writers who ran out of ideas in 1988...
+opmdevil Even without the Prequels, Vader restrains Leia as an entire planet full of children (along with their parents, relatives, friends, and pets) is blown to bits. The difference in the PT is that we actually see the kids, when before it was from a distance. He has always condoned the mass murder of chi'rens in order to achieve a goal! Difference? The PT Vader did it to save his wife, while the OT Vader just stood by as it happened. Who was the bigger bastard?
To be honest that’s true cause, from this video, it shows that the Jedi takes children from an young age to be trained to be a Jedi, and when Anakin was taken to meet the leaders.. and when he was there he was currently 9 years old and then claimed that ‘he was too old’ So he was supposed to be 3 or 4 years old.. I can’t continue this theory b’cause to lazy to type.. but watch ‘Film Theory’ about their theory of ‘Star Wars’
Not exactly sure what this documentary is trying to tell us what most of us don't already know. Light vs Dark. Luv for you anyway for being so dedicated to the story that entertained and continues to entertain.
Rey was one of Luke's apprentices who got away. Her force trips weren't visions, they were memories. She lost her memory because Snoke has mind powers, and Kylo learned some of them. She was originally intended to learn melee combat from Finn (who was in a melee unit), and about the Millennium Falcon from Han Solo. The director and writers fell in love with her, so they changed her to do everything on her own instead to show how perfect she is. Lastly, she's ultimately going to become a grey force user, as reflected by the color of her outfit. That means she'll wield both the light and dark sides as needed. And will turn into an even bigger creator's pet / Mary Sue.
I agree with your points. However, earlier, you stated that the force is never described as good or evil... But Luke's conversation with Leia in Return of the Jedi proves you wrong. Luke tells Leia that he will try to turn Darth Vader "back to the good side."
Clumsy theory. "I feel the good in you", OP cites as evidence of the light within darkness of the yin-yang but the force isn't about good or evil? Light/Dark is clearly Good/Evil.
Luke: "I feel the good in you"
Vader: "Fuck you" *throws lightsaber*
+MrRoflHD Obi Wan never told you about your father.

Every time someone complains about "too much politics" in the prequels I picture someone with the attention span of a Michael Bay fan.
But who wants 5 minute political scenes in a space adventure movie?
No one.
+Constocorp I do...
Except the dialogue in the prequel movies is godawful. When someone says they like the prequels, that's the equivalent of liking Transformers 4.
Has anyone realized that jedis have had less and less training progressively
Anakin- I have trained with the Jedi councils for years
Luke- I trained for about 3 days with a out of practice old dude
Rey- wtf is this glowstick lol
star wars 10 main character picks up lightsaber and thinks 'oh a lightsaber! cool! ' weilds it like a pro, kills a sith
To be fair, Rey is Superman so it's understandable that she doesn't need training. She's the best in the galaxy at everything she does.
Well reys weapon before was some kind of stick sword so it makes sense that she knows who to use a lightsword
Luke was weird though
+AGQ720 except she was left on Jakku when she was like 3 or 4 so there's no way she had sword training
Imagine seeing the Star Wars movies from the "dark sides" perspective.
WOW!
Why did Anikan Skywalker cross the road?
to get to the dark side.
+Donnie Montoya Who is Anikan Skywalker?
No just no
+daddymyeon it's been like 60 star wars years and 10 real life years...
+Donnie Montoya Anakin joined the dark side to fulfill his prophecy. He is still the one who beat the Sith Lord. Maybe that is his destiny
+Donnie Montoya Good, but its funnier without the punch-line.
How is this the hidden truth? This is literally just the plot of the fucking series.
+ProfessorButts Your right if you watch any star wars TV show/film they state that the dark side isn't evil its just different. this is everywhere in the 'The Clone Wars' if you watch it through
+Paradise TryHard Season 3
True that
Kylo Ren has both light and dark side of the Force inside him... that's why he's so powerful... It's not about good and evil... he just has both sides...
+captain kains why call him kylo ren if his real name (ben solo) is already knows?
+Eugene InLaw known*
+captain kains I agree... he should either accept and learn to use both sides.. or choose one side...
+Eugene InLaw Kylo Ren is so much cooler than Ben Solo.. come on :)
+Eugene InLaw I assume you don't call him Darth Vader you call him Anakin?...
Man i feel like someones reading a high school essay to me
i have an unpopular theory.
rey shares a lot of similarities with anakin. origin unclear, a loner, raw, stubborn but have their own moral standards.
but i believe she's not with the light side. she may started off unknowing of her power and teaming up with the light side, having mentors and such, but i believe her journey would be a lot more complicated than just that. her longing for her family to return is one indication. she won't even go anywhere for fear of her family return. that's too much love. and as we know, it was love that anakin fell to the darkside. her weapon of choice is another indication. she wields a staff much similar to well known sith-preferred double-bladed light saber, instead of a sword or standard Jedi light saber.
also the name. rey is from rex, which means king. as in emperor. one ruler of all.
mark my words, she belongs to the darkside.
Dmitri Lessy she’s shmi
nice theory, but I personally disagree.
You are about 3 years too early 😂
One thing that supports this is in early drafts for The Force Awakens it had Anakin's Force ghost appearing with Luke, when he was in more. It showed his ghost switching from Anakin to Darth Vader, highlighting how he is the only Jedi to have accepted the Dark Side of the Force.
+Batman Jr. Luke did too. It is through the Dark Side that he won against his father, but he didn't lost himself in it.
+Batman Jr. Just as the writer said about writing that part about Anakin/Vader :
"When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow"
+Contevent Obi-Wan as well. He was definitely angry when Qui Gon died, and went on a rage attack which enabled him to break Maul's saberstaff but also made him careless and get thrown off the ledge.
Xepthrichros Indeed, but later on, he never give in to rage again. He is pure light side, while Luke seemed to have accepted the part of darkness in him, without letting it rule him.
+katthedemon who cares about this canon shit man? If something is non-canon, then these new Disney Films...
Why are they saying the story of Star Wars is a theory? Pretty sure everyone knows this, it isn't a theory.
+Dylan O Brien You presume wrong.
There is many things that can only be explained by theories like who Reys father and mother are etc
+KuCu_Train the force. I believe its the force who are reys parents line anakin
+KuCu_Train If Anakin is the child of the Force why can´t Rey be aswell? ;)
I think that you'll like Kylo Ren... Or hate him :)
+jkdoorbinnia Say hello to Kylo Ren
That's kinda what darth Vader is. He sees the Jedi as evil because of their views on love. But many times he makes choices based on the Jedi way
Except there is very clearly an acknowledged reality of right and wrong, good and evil.
This video is like when you bullshit an essay at 2 in the morning.
YOU DIDN'T LAY OUT A THEORY! YOU REPEATEDLY STATED THE OBVIOUS AVOIDING ANY COMITMENTS IN GUESSING, AND SET YOUR TRAP FOR THE WEAK-MINDED LIKERS
Well, the idiots liking this kind of shit are those who think the prequels were good, so I guess this is just lowest common denominator in action.
+ethanwdp Price prequels were good except for midichlorians
yourtub
Look up mr.plinketts reviews.
There are a lot of aspects that make a movie good.
yourtub
You're the reason why people think the average IQ of prequel fans is under 90.
So how does Jar Jar fit into all of this?
Dang, ok that was really funny.
+400KrispyKremes Lucas was smoking weed one day and decided to add a new character.
He is the real villian
+400KrispyKremes He was sapposed to be Snoke in disguise, but all the backfire caused Lucas to scratch that.
jar jar a secret sith the way he fought at war is known as drunken fist where u look like u just stumbling but u can fuck some one up and jar jar reason anik went to dark side cuz jar jar said hey lets give chronicler power over everything
Steps**
+wiiplaya25 I'm all for new ideas, but Rey won't go dark. It wouldn't fit the character. Ren being caught in between interests me, perhaps they could make him a grey jedi.
+wiiplaya25 I think Rey is the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker.
This is why the Grey Jedi are awesome! As Thanos says “perfectly balanced, as all things should be.”
Rey is Hans daughter we are told that Ben and someone are twins
+Patty Calps she can't be likes because Jedi can not have a wife/kid he said in video love leads to dark side so if Luke had a kid it would be odd
+Aaron Brookes "Second, Rey wasn't surprised that it was Luke, " if you mean on the island at the end could it be that maybe just maybe it's because the whole movie they are trying to locate Luke and finally succeed? ...
ScreenRant listening to the subs and doing something different and nice! great job!
At 4:43 you can see Yoda's 'cousin' in the middle chair.
:0
+Jake Tupler That is Yaddle! A female yodaspecies!
WTF!
+Zayne Freeman Yaddle forever.
It's his sister
When I first started college, I had to read Joseph Campbell's, "The Hero With One Thousand Faces." Luke Skywalker was one of the characters on our book. I love this take on Star Wars. There is one reference to good winning over evil just once though. When Obi Wan Kenobi tells Anakin Skywalker, "It's over Anakin. I have the higher ground." That can be argued as good over evil. Thank you for this documentary!
As stated in Pablo Hidalgo's The Visual Dictionary of SW:TFA, "when you light a candle, you also cast a shadow."
Ray has to be a Skywalker.
That's like saying young Anakin had to be a Kenobi, if there was no back story. If we just saw him in the Jedi training room and onward. It's just speculation. Rey could very well be another Anakin like figure having no father, that she was conceived through the aim of nature re-establishing balance to the force (dark and light).
ky93le sorry! I was just saying it would make sense, chill out!
Elyssa Munch I am quite chill, just putting forward another theory apart from the norm.
+ky93le. your theory could also be possible but being a Skywalker would make sense because the force is so strong with her and with no practice.
+Elyssa Munch Maybe she was created by the force.
I still like the idea of Obi-Wan and Padme having a secret relationship and this leading to Anakin hating him.
great video guys i really enjoyed it i love star wars
I think this theory is right on - I remember as a kid, the pastor at our church (this was back in the 1980s) explained to me that the movies were all based on eastern mythology, so this is something that has been known even before the "prequels" hit the market. While I still believe it's a struggle between good and evil (Luke saying over and over "I can still feel the good in you") the force is definitely grounded in the "yin and yang" religious philosophy, that Lucas believes in.
Arthur Chapman wrong
Did you guys miss, in Episode VI, when Luke told Leia he wanted to bring Darth Vader back "to the GOOD side?"
In the context of this, it is actually not "off" that Rey is a Palpatine...
That's not how the Tao works...
+Garcian Smith How does it work then? What did he get wrong? I am being serious, not trying to put you down. Thanks
nly89 Hey, no problem, I understand and will do my best to explain my comment and why Screen Rant's analogy and description of Tao is wrong.
"Tao makes the assumption that we live in an amoral universe where true concepts of good and evil can not actually exist, just humans perceptions of what is considered morraly right and wrong."
^ Doesn't that explain the Star Wars universe pretty accurately?
+Garcian Smith Deep man. Some of that naturalist talk right there.
"love leads to the darkside" & its true
I really enjoyed the video, Keep up the good work.
Great insight! I hadn't conceptualized the force like this before. Thank you
Fascinating, theory, I think you're right. But I bet that when the final episode concludes, we'll all be surprised.
Ok so Yoda didn't say "Love turns you to the dark side" he actually said "When your lost that Leeds a path to the dark side."
Then, Batman and The Joker are created by The Force. There's the Dark Side and the Light Side. They complete each other...
Mind blown
good one!
+Utku Güldoğan batman stands for the good, the Lightside, but he's called The Dark Knight, there are still some darkness inside the light. The theory is perfect.
5:16 I never noticed until now that Vader's think tank is white on the inside.
Âlways had a feeling that Light and Dark side arent about good and evil :0
Great Video
Finally an analysis of the franchise that doesn't ignore the prequels. I'm getting tired of so-called "true Star Wars fans" who actually openly hate half of the Star Wars movies.
2:45 luke is anakin's son!?!?!?
ikr!! mind blown!
+Joel Chung And Leia is his sister BOOOM
I didn't know that...... Plz tell me ur joking
+Faraghorn And his grandfather is...
Midichlorians! BAM!!!
+Joel Chung search your feelings, you know it to be true!!
WOW, this was TRULY VERY GOOD!!! i seriously ENJOYED this!!!
THANK YOU! finally someone who actually sees the prequels add so much to the story!
Very good concept I like where you are going with this, makes a lot of sense thanks for sharing.
it was Anikans choice to take a wife, that did him in.
so kylo and Rey are the new yin and yang?
Yes
Your arguments are flawed. Obi Wan in fact says that Darth Vader is "a Master of Evil."
Further, it doesn't matter what is said.
Besides, is trying to protect who you love necessarily evil?
Nonsense. the darkside is evil as I already demonstrated. And your claim about "The reason people move to the dark side is because they want to protect those closest to them" is based on nothing
Thanks.
This makes a lot of sense! I'm glad I found it!
This is a very accurate and satisfying explination on the story :)
Robert Ortiz true
lalalalalLzlzalaalaa
Robert Ortiz you're right Anakin DID balance the force but not in that way. The prophecy was fulfilled because HE (Anakin) in the 6th movie was the one to end the Siths' reign by killing Palpatine and saving his son. That's how Anakin fulfilled the prophecy.
This is always how I've thought of Star Wars. I didn't look as deep though, so I was a little confused why the light side of the force was always more or less trying to wipe out the dark side, even though they had really driven home the point of the force being balanced. I really appreciated this video!
great video!
anakins transition to the dark side was really dumb.. he turned after he had a dream his wife would die in child birth so he started killing everyone in a psychotic rampage.. he had a fucking dream... thats the dumbest reason to turn to the dark side.. he woke up from the dream and he went and killed children because he had a dream... it could have been a different reason but it was that bizarre..
Asadmah Productions I agree
+Jason Roggasch because its hot when is not people related to you doing it
Jimi Shank THAT WAS A RAD COMMENT THANKS...Cool shit....Thanks again....Learned a lot too.
+Jimi Shank Holy shit, a sensible argument! Didn't think these were possible anymore. Nice info. If the UA-cam app didn't suck, I'd give you +1.
ying and yand only means that it can´t give light without darkness
this is what the healer Caleb said to Bane a thousand years before the battle of Yavin
Good stuff y'all. Make's more sense than anything else I've heard.
:O It actually makes a lot of sense! ;)
"Keep in mind that this is just a theory a FILM THEORY
Jeanette Tiopes Haha cheers bro! 🍻 #MatPat4Lyfe
so Luke might train Rey on episode 8 ITS A FAMILY CONNECTION OR TRAINING CONNECTION
Thank you! I keep telling people, killing Palpatine didn't bring the force into balance. At the end of Episode III there were two Jedi and two Sith. Balance!
I like how anakin comes out as a ghost in the ending of episode 6
The true path of the Force is the Bendu; both light and dark, neither good nor evil. Just the living Force in balance. =:3
Jar Jar is the key to all this.
An 8 minute documentary?? This is NOT a documentary. This is a video blog about Star Wars.
8 minutes and 53 seconds
jason was way off
It's 8 minutes and 52 seconds
Hidden truth? This has always been what Star Wars is about! That's why I love it. It's not hidden.
This is a great concept! I feel that Rey is a creation of Plageius but other than this, I like this concept!
Episode 7 is Episode 4. Creative, huh?
whez08 Yeah, it is. Well, not really. George Lucas stated that Star Wars was, "Like poetry. It rhymes." It's what happens. It's like history repeating itself, because there's no creativity to change the schedule of time.
Yes, this would be a third grader's book report on the series...what was the point of this video?
+RangerOfAlcyone Go to counselling, please get some help. Society has enough leaches.
+RangerOfAlcyone Out, now.
+RangerOfAlcyone Do you actually believe in the white genocide? Because it doesn't exist.
+FlyingWalrus pretty sure he or she is just a troll cause that was way to random to be genuine
Matt Jennings I could copy and paste a two page long article about why this is true, but I'm on a phone. 🙄
Luke went into the cave of fear and went to kill Darth Vader and when the helmet dropped it showed Luke's face which means his greatest fear is
HIMSELF.
Luke: "I feel the good in you father."
Vader: "DON'T YOU GET SMART WITH ME BOY! I brought you into this world, AND I CAN TAKE YOU OUT OF IT!"
Cuts off Luke's hand again.
this video made me appreciate phantom menace. It is vital to the story, even though it's super boring as a chapter and Lucas made it worse by trying to spice it up with cgi, it is vital
I Do Believe Rey Is A Kenobi, Why?
Her Outfit Similar
That Vision she Saws Only Obi Wan and Yoda will be heard
She Uses The Force to Mind Control [Skywalkers never use Those]
Luke did in Jabbas Palace in Episode VI
tell me, how could Kenobi father a child when he's been dead for 40 years?
+Ken Britton He didn't say she was Obi-Wan's daughter. He said she's a Kenobi.Obi-Wan could have brothers or a secret wife.
+PTLemon there's nothing to suggest Kenobi ever had a family, nor any Jedi (besides Skywalker). Good luck explaining to the audience how that works and good luck winning your audience back. Stupid theory should not even be said out loud.
+Uncle Max you also hear Luke and Vader in the vision scene. hell, they were going to show the Luke vs Vader duel on bespin in this scene but they had to take it out
I just realized Han Solo could have let kyloren kill him so rey can have the power to use the
force and to turn kyloren to the lightside and Han Solo noticed what obi wan kenbi did.
also like if you agree with me.
Gavin Tube10 OMG I just realized how much sense that makes OMG
Thanks for realizing
Gavin Tube10 my mind is blown

THESE THUMBNAILS ARE SO DUMB.
They make me want to end my life
Follow your dreams.

"it's like poetry, the stanzas rhyme"
Awesome narrative! Thanks. I
What is Finn is Lando Calrissian's son?
+tman008 Thay are black.Thay must be connected. :D
He's clearly Windu's son
+F Larocque nope Finn was a clone
+Srate No, he is not a clone.
+Srate He's not a clone, They stopped cloning them
So what's new? Where is the hidden truth? Aren't you just restating, what everybody is talking about? Where is your theory? Sorry, I don't get it.
For people that haven't watched the movie it helps dumbo
Sorry for saying dumbo
This gives George Lucas way too much credit. Lucas is a hack.
+Velexia Ombra Get lost, Lucas hate camp is played out.
Lucas was a great director at a point. Hating him is hating a man who donates millions in charity and made a great franchise.
Velexia Ombra You mean the older he became and the older we became. Nostalgia is a powerful set of goggles my friend.
My favorite part is the laser-swords
This guy was so sad when he finally finished this video - like he was happy at first, then he went outside and everything just seemed like too much of a simple beautiful day.
all early and shit
and it doesnt have to be a skywalker I mean siths and Jedi have been around for hundreds of years
+Fernando Valles I personally think Rey was probably conceived by the force like Anakin and has nothing to do with the Skywalkers.
+Joshua Iles thats a possibility but I feel like theres a little more to her past
+Joshua Iles Then why all of the buildup about her being abandoned?
+RioluMan Her mother may if abandoned her, she'd remember if Luke was her father plus I don't know think Luke would break the Jedi code or Obi Wan so it can't be his granddaughter either.
Lord Of The Rings is still better.
Star Wars = Queen of Sci-Fi
Lord Of The Rings = Queen of Fantasy
+Rapper LP I suppose the kings are up for debate
JohnnyGameGuy Oh said that because both are stories and in German "Story" and "Queen" are both female words :D
I find that very interesting! It's the same in Icelandic, and even the word for story, Saga, is a girls name.
Nope!
+opmdevil we knew before the prelogy that Vader wasn't exactly a choirboy
KaosKrusher Yes, but not to the extent that we know now.
opmdevil
tbh I wasn't expecting less from Vader ... but I do see your redemption point ;)
Who was the bigger bastard?
michael stevenson
The thing is that in Episode 4 Vader did not give the order. Vader is just a henchman, following orders.
really loved this video! agree the theories
It is really good keep it up
The force is like duct tape, a light side, a dark side and it keeps us all together
Supporting evidence:
Anakin Skywalker says, "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!"
Just thought I'd put that out there.
To be honest that’s true cause, from this video, it shows that the Jedi takes children from an young age to be trained to be a Jedi, and when Anakin was taken to meet the leaders.. and when he was there he was currently 9 years old and then claimed that ‘he was too old’
So he was supposed to be 3 or 4 years old.. I can’t continue this theory b’cause to lazy to type.. but watch ‘Film Theory’ about their theory of ‘Star Wars’
Nicely thought out.
thanks guys for helping me fall asleep.
"Hey, everybody! Go to Film Theory for a lesson in economics!"
You don't seem to understand the internet, sir or madam.
Luke tells Leia that he will try to turn Darth Vader "back to the good side."
wow
youve got a really good point
i have never thought of it like that before
Clumsy theory. "I feel the good in you", OP cites as evidence of the light within darkness of the yin-yang but the force isn't about good or evil? Light/Dark is clearly Good/Evil.
You guys did a great job covering this :) but will ray be "an lover " or a "daughter"?
Daughter of luke and ahsoka
